Carrick Balor isn't a very sociable person at all and probably doesn't have enough in common with a 10-year old to form a friendship with.

I'm surprised that you're going to dad for assistance rather than mom.-[] Train Multiform

She'll help if she's the best tutor for us in Multiform, same as with everything else. That sub-option was to get Dad to add on a Seer in addition to whoever the best tutor is.I'm surprised that you're going to dad for assistance rather than mom.
I can't really understand the people who aren't convinced by worked out mathematical proof that Slacking until grades drop is the most efficient possibly way of maintaining our grades. Literally the biggest risk is that her high grades temporarily drop a bit in Primary School, and we get a bonus action every time that coin flip comes up is.
Because slacking until our grades drop still involves slacking!

"You should carry this heavy rock around all day."
"Why?"
"What, you slacking off?"
"No, I mean why would I do that?"
"Oh, no reason for it. It's uncomfortable and unwieldy. But if you don't do it, that's slacking off!"
"That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."
"Slacker!"
You want us not to pick the "Slack" option. And who exactly are you arguing against?
Because I'm fairly sure I'm going with 'don't stop studying' not 'start carrying around a heavy rock for no reason'.
Although this does kind of prove my point...Because slacking until our grades drop still involves slacking!
We're only a Novice at being a Seer. We should do normal Seer training to get it to Practitioner and so we have a higher chance of successfully learning Mind Projection. You also don't have to specify to train with Mum. If she's the best teacher for her skills, we'll learn under her by default. It's better you don't specify it so if there are better teachers for those skills we'll learn under them instead. Command Training in particular seems like something Dad would be better at.The Mysteries
[X] Beg Sensei To Teach You [Write-In Specific Technique] (1 action) Mind Projection
8/13
If we fail to convince Sensei to teach us Mind Projection, the roll defaults to a regular Seer Training slot. If there's really no way we'll learn it this year, there's no chance we'll be able to convince Sensei, through his experience in the matter and his being a Seer, so it's self-correcting. If he lets us try it and we don't succeed, we'll still make progress towards it and, presumably, a lesser amount of regular Seer XP. Also, people really want to try and make progress towards it to get to a point where we can talk to Jaffur. We want to be able to talk to Jaffur as soon as possible. If we do the training but fail, we won't be able to talk to Jaffur next year or at the least it'll be harder to do so. We'll have better odds being able to do it next turn if we get more Seer training done this turn.If he lets us try it and we don't succeed, we'll still make progress towards it and, presumably, a lesser amount of regular Seer XP.
And I've somehow missed us automagically picking the best available teacher - could you post a quote/link? I'll update the plan accordingly if you do.
In general, when you're training I'll find the best teacher you know to find and can get.
If we do regular Seer training we still can't do it next year. If we focus on it this year then even on a failure we'll make progress; our overall Seer skills won't rise as much, but we'll overall be closer to Mind Projection. We want to be able to do it as soon as possible. If we do the training but fail, we won't be able to talk to Jaffur next year or at the least it'll be harder to do so. We'll have better odds being able to do it next turn if we get more Seer training done this turn.
And I think I'll add that bit as well.@PoptartProdigy, can we make use of our "strong family support structure" by getting Mum and Dad to talk with us about ourselves, thereby getting increased chance of success for The Examined Life?
It will make us a Practitioner Seer this year, increasing our odds of learning the technique, successfully using the technique to do what we want (at Novice looking for visions on purpose is unreliable at best), or successfully getting to him by "flying blind" if we fail to get the technique. If we do regular Seer training we still can't do it next year.
This is all news to me - our progress towards the next rank isn't on the character sheet. I'll think about what to replace. It will make us a Practitioner Seer this year, increasing our odds of learning the technique, successfully using the technique to do what we want (at Novice looking for visions on purpose is unreliable at best), or successfully getting to him by "flying blind" if we fail to get the technique.
You're also overlooking the insane amount of utility a Practitioner Seer has. We'd be someone who can literally see the future (and the past and present) on demand, and that would increase the chance of success for a number of different actions, not just contacting Jaffur. That alone is reason enough to add standard Seer training.
Sorry, I have to first admit that a bit of what I said might've been misleading. Us becoming a Practitioner this year isn't certain, it's just possible, but everything else is true. Aside from that, even if we fail to get Practitioner Seer this year after both the standard training and the specialised training, we'd be rather likely to succeed next year, resulting in the same things in regard to Jaffur if not with our other actions. This is all news to me - our progress towards the next rank isn't on the character sheet.
