again our HQ is stupid durable. A normal bomb isn't really all that dangerous. Hell Doof has survived far worse things himself, out toons would be singed and cough smoke,Khan could probably drop kick the bomb back though the portal, Norm bots are probably bomb proof or resistant.
Eh. Acme tech would probably actually make Norm Subprimes less bomb proof, but probably comically easy to reassemble after the fact like so many murderbot lego bricks.

He opens a potal. And said portal has a good chance to have someone there to hold or contest the breech. And if the person in question is fast they can snatch the scissors.
In the unlikely scenario that the opens the portal right next time to someone and that someone's first instinct is to rush through an opaque portal to try and wrestle the portal opener for the scissors (I think only Hugo would be that impulsive), he could just blast them and take the scissors back.

You don't need to research cutting-edge futuristic A.I to use explosives or guns, especially when they are manufactured by others. He probably isn't having an easy time advancing his entire medieval civilisation to modern standards of living, production and weaponry but he doesn't need to advance the whole civilisation to get units capable of using modern weaponry.

In any case he is not likely to launch a direct attack on our headquarters when he can more subtly sabotage our farms and food-supplies to make our position untenable.

We litteraly have blueprints and how to guides. And we don't get that tech we need to research it with high DCs. If he can skip research as he pleases I'll call bullshit. He is at best getting two techs a turn if he's pushing scientific advancement really hard.

I didn't state he could skip research as he pleases. I stated

that's skipping a fuck Ton of tech steps For a predominately Medieval society. We literally have the blueprints on how to build the stuff and yet we need to research it I'm willing to bet he hast to research the stuff as well before he can actually make use of it.

what more would he even bother with Monday and weapons when he has magic and most of his people are more effective then guns anyways?

Research is about properly understanding how to make or develop the technology. E.g Genghis Khan doesn't need to know how to build a gun from scratch to buy or use a gun. Likewise you don't need to know how to make a bomb to arm a bomb and throw it at the base of your enemy.

Better weaponry would make his people more effective in battle. Other technological improvements would lead to improvements in productivity which he can use to get more soldiers. It also helps give him an edge against Metaworld's magic devouring.

We've never seen anything that just let's us buy new tech for free. I don't see how he gets to cheat the system.

It isn't buying tech for free or cheating the system. It is using assets not research.

Consider the flying car we got with the Lee industries acquisition and the exotic vehicle research option it unlocked. We would need to do the research if we want to improve the car or make more flying cars but we don't need to do the research just to drive the car.

Omake idea:

Evelyn Deavor is about to enact her plan with her army on super "Screenslaves" when suddenly they chant-

"HIS NAME IS DOOF, AND WE'LL DO WHAT HE SAYS, WHOOP WHOOP!"

Yeah a one off thing not suddenly upgrading from no weapons to mass proliferation understanding and utilization of modern arms and armor fitted to work for extremely non human body types .

that shit requires Learning actions and a lot of them.

The thing is, that's so vague that Shego's going to ask the obvious question: "WHAT big thing? What general category of warning have you received, and who told you?"

She can't be expected to significantly alter her plans based on "oh yeah something big and totally nonspecific is going to happen in a year or less and I can't tell you why." It's entirely possible that she'd be better off just doing what she would otherwise have done anyway, simply because then she'll have more of her normal resources and equanimity when it's time to solve the problem.

Toffee is an evil super-powered lizard from another dimension who wants to conquer earth.

Like anyone who doesn't know magic it's pretty easy to go 'he's a very powerful super with other mutated supers, here are photo's. As long as the "M" world isn't mentioned nothing magic can do is outside of people's worldview. Shego fires plasma from her hands and hired a portal-maker.

If we can teach Genghis Khan to use modern weaponry then Toffee can teach a goon to use a rocket launcher.

yes but he need to spend learning actions to upgradehis forces to use thoserocket launchers he can't just buy them. Like us he needs to buy the blueprints, research them and then spend a martail action to teach them how to use them.

All of this seems prefounded on the idea that dimensional scissors can transport to a particular dimension with that level of precision. Given that, at no point in the show, did anyone simply scissor into Star's room while she was asleep and steal the wand, I find premise iffy.

I thought we were dealing with a mix-up between the new and old version of duck tales due to the fact that Owlson was still Glomgold's assistant and all that.
Close, but no cigar. Its a mix of Uncle Scrooge, the other duck comics, Ducktales, and then Ducktales 2017. In that order of priority.

Owlson had a cameo but is not likely to appear in a major role unless something goes very unexpectedly with Glomgold.

You know, it occurs to me that the reason the DC for Revamping Bueno Nacho is so high is because it gives us a huge lead on finding Ron or Kim. I can't think of any other reason for the DC to be so ridiculously high, and there's literally a memorial to Ron in the middle of the restaurant. If that isn't a hint, I don't know what is.

Also, it's a tech ladder itself. Researching the stuff around it will very likely lower the DC.

Thats what I was saying earlier. They're Dimensional Scissors, not Portal Scissors.

I don't know about interdimensional transport, but while on Earth Marco was able to open portals precisely to where he wanted for a variety of petty tasks, and he wasn't exactly an expert with dimensional scissors. As to why no one came into the room and took the wand? I 'unno. Maybe because those were Hekapoo's scissors? Does anyone ever showcase that level of precision with other scissors?

Have you considered that if you know the area you can use the scissors well, but it's a skill that takes familiarity with exactly where to cut? It would explain that, but why they never use them for precision attacks or assassinations in combat. (Like guns don't change the equation, magic has plenty of ranged attacks, and yet we don't see any telefraging occurring in the show. )

Magic remote viewing is a thing in SvFE so familiarity might not be the issue. View the area around the target, snip, BOOM. Maybe no one's (writers) thought to use them that way? Tramorfidian Crystal apparently stops their usage.

Star's room isn't made of crystal. She uses the scissors there all the time, and was regularly spied upon. Frankly this is classic SV. Extrapolate out the full capacities of something from a very few examples. Assume that there are no limitations that were not explicit mentioned, and then try to an auto-win button for the most boring story possible. Given that this is an absurdly boring option, and the QM is a good writer, it isn't likely to happen.

Open a portal to pour an army through for an exciting battle, sure. Auto snipe us, not likely. Especially since it would mean that if got the scissors we could do the same to any other king, and there is not way in hell we are getting that ability.

I read the wiki since I don't remember the show all that well and concluded the writers probably didn't think Scrying + Scissors = Assassination looks very possible.

I mentioned the crystal because it was mentioned in the wiki as being a material that blocks scissors and was not implying that Star's room was made of the stuff.

Seeing as in DoofQuest there hasn't been any scissors that we have for testing and the show's wiki being next to useless I put out there that familiarity is a non-issue with Scrying. 🤷‍♂️

If my memory does not fail me Ludo usually Scry ed Star's location and sent minions to fight her. They usually end up within line of sight of her no? That means Scrying + Scissors works?

Apologies if I worded things in a bad way in my earlier post.
