Richard Martinez, is from Cory in the House.
Is he a good person for the job?

So, that does raise the question of whether Syndrome himself is alive or dead.
You can't say he didn't have this coming with his attitude and actions.

Oof. Harsh. I don't know if something like that is Negaduck's style, though, as opposed to a frontal assault.
I agree. We have an action to get rid of him, but honestly, he's just an old man. Bullying him, further would go beyond tactical to unethical and beyond evil.

So perhaps offer him protection if he helps us against Doom?

Honestly, it sounds like he would want some alone time from the world. Doof sending an offer would probably spook him even more, so we should do nothing to him. That way we have a free intrigue action we can place elsewhere.

Spokane brings back bad memories...
If it helps then think of this place in terms of Disney IPs. What stories are associated with this region, so who could we expect to pop up as local crime lord?

hmm maybe we should offer Lizzie and Stanley a deal which we will let them go and even help them set up a new base in Kronos Territory if they give us a piece of there tech

Hmm... out of curiosity (provided that Mojave is willing to share his opinion, given that he's the one who created the character sheets that include the traits I'm interested in discussing), I wonder how does the crit-fail range increase from the Meep Meep! trait interact with Still Something of Value's reduced crit-fail range? Would they cancel each other out (leaving the crit-fail range to be the usual of rolling equal or below 50% of the DC of the action), or would one trait take precedence over the other here?
I'm pretty sure that specific combination would never arise. The only way Xanatos would ever bother trying to catch the Roadrunner is if someone shot him with a Stupid Ray-inator.

Should we do some talks with Khan next as well?
We need to get our double actions going, or we can't. Too much going on too fast.

You know, since it's 2015 in-universe should we plan for a trump presidency? Would be very unhelpful for the federal government, but the additional chaos could be very useful.
Over and above the QM's disinterest, the circumstances of Trump's candidacy have been butterflied hard enough that there is no reason to assume he'd even run, if he exists in-setting. Large swathes of the country are either effectively depopulated wasteland that won't be voting, or are dominated by mind control bowlers, for starters.

It looks like we need to rip up the crime in our area by the roots before whoever is taking over the underworld gets their hooks in to ours. If they haven't already anyway.
I don't think there's any one figure behind the rise of crime throughout the American West. It's just a matter of opportunism. Hell, it's very possible- even likely- that organized criminals may flee our area (where they've been hunted first by OWCA and then by the Mongol PMC hordes), making cleanup within our borders easier.

I think crime in Doofania is handled, actually
Maybe. Then again, we have no shortage of Martial heroes at this point.

Guys here's my theory on why crime is expanding at a exponential rate.

I believe that it's all connected. The crime groups only really started developing after the St. Canard breakout. But what if they're all connected?

A prisoner in St. Canard is planning to create a national syndicate that covers all of America with Doomtown being their base of operations.

Here's the timeline
  1. The prisoner breaks out of St. Canard (May/June 2015)
  2. He first tries to put his organization in Middleton (Drug organization), the Calisota Conglomerate and Doomtown. Calisota repels them but they gain a foothold in Middleton and Doomtown (July/August 2015)
  3. They then assimilate all crime in Doomtown which allows them to gain a base of operations to plan. (September/October 2015) (They could have also possibly supported one the supervillains in Doofania?)
  4. With the fall of Kronos they start expanding at a rapid rate. They take Omnidroids for themselves. They sell more drugs in Middleton and start taking control of crime in Boise, Carson City, Spokane and Richland. They also terrify Alonzo Hawk into abandoning his efforts in investigating them. (November/December 2015).
Alternate hypothesis: Multiple, entirely different villains from the St. Canard breakout are responsible for the events in Middleton and the events in Doomtown. A LOT of bad guys broke out of there, and I'm pretty sure Negaduck wasn't the only A-lister villain in there.

There doesn't have to be any single individual involved in this, and the sheer number of actions being taken simultaneously and in parallel argues against central coordination unless other major players' action economy works differently than ours.

I'm pretty sure that the feds are gonna have trouble with the new crime syndicates, though.

I agree. We have an action to get rid of him, but honestly, he's just an old man. Bullying him, further would go beyond tactical to unethical and beyond evil.
No see, he is the spymaster for an overtly murderous anti-toon faction. I don't think that terrorizing him into leaving the unknown player in LA is that bad, even. My main point is that it isn't really... well, my sense is that it's not Negaduck's style, personally. Negaduck would just show up and blow Alonzo Hawk up with a bazooka or something.

well, my sense is that it's not Negaduck's style, personally.
I mean, Hawk got a box in the mail before panicking. If it were Negaduck then he would prob be in the box itself, but it doesn't sound like it. The only one else who does box stuff is the mob, and that's to show the receiver's dead friend's detached head. Then again, the box wasn't described as particularly smelly, so it might have been pictures of Hawk's past deeds.

Hm. The Stupidinator is crazy enough to work as an inator.

Stupidinator (Good-ish)

The device projects a far-reaching blast of stupefying energy that crackles in the atmosphere above its target before raining down on them! Select a random prominent individual or faction that is both known and antagonistic to Doofenshmirtz. This individual or faction's next Failure will have the effect of a Critical Failure. If they instead roll a Critical Failure, its effects will be doubled or otherwise severely worsened. This effect will persist until the target rolls a failure of some kind. Even if all their actions succeed this turn, the Stupid will still be there. Waiting to discharge itself.

Stupidinator (Bad)

The device misfires and zaps assorted Doofinians with stupefying energy! The effect of the Stupidinator is instead centered in Doofania, with effects as described above.

Phhhht...
Pete I guess? Only times I can think of anything happening in Washington is in an old cartoon with Pete, cause the space needle was there. Oh, and there's that bit in Phineas and Ferb where they unearth a cup containing a material that turns whatever is exposed to it the cutest thing in the universe.
...
That's it that I can remember. The wiki states that the Air Buddies movies take place there, but I never watched them.

That feels like it's kind of unbalanced? Like that bad inator is a *lot* worse for us than the good inator is good. Heck, the good inator might not even benefit us at all, depending on how the RNG goes, especially considering how some of our enemies themselves oppose each other.

Oh wow. Random thoughts. But Zack and Cody, Wizards of Waverly Place... and Phil of the Future. Z&C only really comes in handy with Tipton being a potential business opportunity, but the other two could come up at some point. If WoWP is canon then that means a Wizarding community exists on par with Harry Potter.

It's been mentioned earlier, but MiH hasn't watched a lot of those Disney sitcoms. I could make him do it since we're often watching something together, but I'd have to pick out good episodes or it wouldn't be worth the effort. Don't expect them to make a "serious" appearance the quest outside of a few cameos.

Also, a "wizarding community on par with Harry Potter" can be seen as an insult, depending on how you interpret that. I don't like HP's worldbuilding at all, and Waverfly Place had some weird shit in it too. Only one kid gets the magic when they're 18? Really? The only time someone challenges it, they get turned into an ice statue and shoved away.

Xanatos you fool! You're playing right into the Aztecs' hands! I suppose even someone as brilliant as you would fall to the machinations of the raddest dude of future-past.

It is super weird yeah. Especially since the snubbed siblings still get access to the magical world and their kids still inherit magic.

That supports my speculation- Xanatos wants the basic 'world order,' or rather national order, to continue to function in the United States. He's working with the feds to stabilize things and reinforce their power. Which isn't necessarily a problem except... they're gonna want the Tri-State Area back. :p

This is the kind of thing that could plausibly result in us ending up on bad terms with Xanatos.

Shit.
Well, Feds won't want Tri-State Area back if we are the Feds. And currently Feds look a lot like they are Xanatos.
Hence, we need to prop up Feds, too.
And we need to be diplomatically lazy towards Xanathos so he would be diplomatic and/or lazy towards us, too.

That is to say that it's worldwide, not of the quality of either community.
That's what I thought you meant, but I'll never turn down the opportunity to poke fun at the series.

The biggest sources on magic in New England will likely be (in order of relevance) Gargoyles, American Dragon, and The Sorcerer's Apprentice. Yeah, the Sorcerer's Apprentice! Anyone remember that time Nicolas Cage was Hiccup's crazy wizard uncle?

Is he a good person for the job?

He's from a series where teenage hijinks by the son of one of the service staff accidentally gave Alaska back to the Russians. Alaska is returned to the Union the Russian president Is challenged to a game of Dance Dance Revolution. It is somehow even more nonsensical in context.

From what I know of the show it's honest to god so insane I can't really answer your question, though considering how childish and casual world leaders act in it I'm leaning towards "No."

So He just acts like most of the kings?

Still those hooligans have some skills to vandalize numerous machines just a little below the onmidroid in combat.
I think Doof might have programmed them so they wouldn't react to just vandalism at least violently, likely just asked to stop before sending some sort of signal if they refuse to the local police department due to the low scale of the crime, they might only react if they see a larger crime to not accidentally harm any citizens due to their strength. That is just my take though not 100 percent sure.

The 'Resistance' has continued its campaign against you, having vandalized a grand total of thirty-nine Normbots by spraypainting them with phrases such as 'DOOF SUX' and 'DOWN WITH THE MAN'. Overall the damage to your policing force is minimal, especially compared to the supervillains currently using your front garden for a turf war, but the group has proven themselves to be somewhat… disruptive. CCTV footage has caught some video of the perpetrators; while you don't have a positive ID on them, you seem to have been right about the 'punk kids' thing. At some point you should send someone to give them a talking to.

This might've been suggested already, but, would it be a good idea to send Vanessa to deal with these guys? Probably with some back-up in the form of Khan, but her perk to deal with teenagers and the youth could be worth it. Would rather have the punks give up than throw them in jail.

The 'good' inator means something pretty bad happens to one of our enemies. The 'bad' inator means something equally bad happens to us. I'm not saying the two results are perfectly balanced, but they're broadly balanced. And in some cases we've had 'good' inator suggests that seem to me to be better than the corresponding 'bad' inator is bad, so I think it's kind of a wash.

Well, Feds won't want Tri-State Area back if we are the Feds. And currently Feds look a lot like they are Xanatos.

That's fair; it seems fairly likely that Xanatos is working to subsume the federal government. Since he has physical access to the nation's capital and its largest single dense urban concentration, he's got kind of a positional advantage there.

He's from a series where teenage hijinks by the son of one of the service staff accidentally gave Alaska back to the Russians. Alaska is returned to the Union the Russian president Is challenged to a game of Dance Dance Revolution. It is somehow even more nonsensical in context.
After the last few years, a president willing to challenge the president of Russia to Dance Dance Revolution to win one of our states back, and able to win, sounds pretty good.

I'll take it.

Yeah. Doof isn't the kind of person who'd want his robo-cops to have a reputation for tearing people in half every time they walked up and sprayed "DOOF SUX" on their chests.

He's a mixture of President Buffoon, Personable, and Puppet. Think of him a big kid who though tries to take everything seriously, acts in a childish manner and relies on his assistants to get anything done. However, he does care about the citizens of his country.
See previous. I'll take it.

@Made in Heaven

This sounds pretty appealing. Would it be sufficiently safe for us to assign Vanessa?

Cool, thank you. Oftentimes wiki is beyond inadequate conveying the nuance of a character or the series, so this is good to get in the thread.

Interlude: The Inspector's Report
Las Vegas has always attracted a variety of eccentric and extreme personalities, but one particularly eventful night was all it took to set off a volatile powder keg of criminal activity across the state of Nevada. The National Guard had been activated in various cities to respond to the spikes in super crime caused by the St. Canard breakout and a string of copycat takeovers started in the wake of the mechanical Sinatron's violent declaration of "Free Vegas" sovereignty.

The intended event, by itself, didn't make a blip on Penelope's radar. She had a practical interest in engineering and technology, but the veteran detective was far too busy with the cases she received from INTERPOL to take a break and see the gala. That was before her superiors cleared every other case off her desk and insisted she make a visit to determine what the American agencies were having trouble with: What went wrong, and why?

Now that it was spiralling in the directions it was, she regretted not looking into the people involved with the gala sooner. The signs were all present that something would go wrong, if you knew what to look for. There are always signs, even if nobody found them at the time.

"This is Las Vegas?" one of the robots in the backseat of her police car asked in a nasally tone. He was a squat humanoid encased in an orange shell shaped like a bell crossed with a trenchcoat. The robot had an orange fedora and boots to match his shiny peach complexion. "We really picked the best place to take a vacation!"

"This isn't a vacation, Fidget." The identical, but blue robot next to him replied, shaking his head. "We're robots, we don't take vacations."

"Oh. Good catch, Digit!"

Fidget stared at the pretty lights as the blonde woman driving took the long way around another traffic jam. Several roads were rendered inaccessible or impossible to drive over due to property damage caused by the sudden storm of super attacks on Vegas.

Mass, formerly a professional wrestler with the legal name of Vincenzo Rossi, was the greatest perpetrator. He was huge, strong, and leaked corrosive substances when injured. He spread waste where he walked, but seemed ignorant to health effects since his transformation.

"You really picked a great place to go on a vacation, Penelope!"

Inspector Penelope groaned. She pressed a button on the car's dashboard, maximizing the suspension on the wheels so she could drive over and around the vehicles blocking her.

"This isn't a vacation for me either, Fidget. We're on a case. Digit, have you found anything new from the livestream footage?"

Digit presses keys on Penelope's digital booklet with his big mechanical fingers. Several images flash on the screen at a rapid pace as Digit skims through them.

"Nothing new. There's a lot of wanted criminals and wealthy people that would want to take Syndrome down a peg, but they all look as guilty as each other."

The Inspector drove the car as close as she could to the once refurbished, now fortified Sands Casino. Sinatra's doppelganger made quick work of turning around the damage he caused and making the resort a castle he could protect from invaders. The police were expecting it to turn into a siege as "Sinatron" bought time to negotiate or further shore up his defenses.

Syndrome being his hostage made him a bargaining chip worth a lot of coin. Regardless of the money he was willing to throw around before, Sinatron had to cash that chip in sooner rather than later if he was going to avoid his house of cards falling to pieces.

Fidget extended his neck over to where Digit was working on the computer book. "You gotta admit, this Sinatra guy has style! I don't even know where he was hiding that machine gun!"

Penelope hit the brakes, shaking her twin robots out of their seats in surprise. Fidget's neck flies over the passenger seat, leaving his body behind as it got caught in the glove compartment.

"Was it something I said?"

She nods. "Digit, hand me my computer book." The blue robot passes it to her from the back seat. Penelope skips between timestamps until she reaches the scene in question. Sinatron was pleasantries and niceties in one moment, but armed and dangerous in the next.

"The gun was in his body!" Inspector Penelope declares. Pausing the video and staring at the scene intently, she watches miniscule movements in his suit give away the location of his concealed weapon "Sinatron was an android doppelganger with compartmentalized equipment. That sort of technology is restricted because of how dangerous it is in the wrong hands."

Fidget's hand becomes a crank. "That means we can arrest him, right?"

Digit reeled his counterpart's head back into place with his collar. "We already need to arrest him. The question is whether we can arrest Syndrome for making a robot like that."

Penelope considered it, but shook her head. She then parked the car and exited it with her two robot assistants in tow. The inspector flashed her badge and was allowed to walk past the police barricades as she continued her conversation with them. Her own hat and trench coat protected her from the Winter wind chill, as well as the odd plume of dust from debris.

"I don't think so. Syndrome's a slippery businessman, and he had to have covered all of his bases except for his own robot betraying him. But the technology Syndrome used was unmistakably taken from the Gadget Program!"

"The Gadget Program?" the twin Gadgetinis said in unison.

The trio had stopped within eyesight of the Sands Casino, where Sinatron was holed up and still accepting gambling patrons. Trying to sneak in would be a risky proposition, but it wasn't completely out of the question. Especially if it meant getting answers.

"That's right. The same technology that I used to make you two. Used to make… I'm getting off topic. Someone, somewhere, let the secrets of the technology slip, allowing Syndrome to abuse them for his own ends."

"Wooow." There was a pause. "I didn't know we were related to Frank Sinatra!"

"We aren't, Fidget. We're second cousins to his android double. No relation to the real thing!"

Inspector Penelope double-checked the contents of her forensic kit and loaded her service weapon. There was a high chance Sinatron's villains were still on his payroll. She didn't stand a chance against any of them in a straight fight, so she had to play this smart.

"Come on, you two. We're going to ask the next people who come out of there some questions."

"Do you think they'll give us what we need to take them down?" asked Fidget.

"I don't know," Penelope responded sincerely.

She had a feeling this was all meant to play lip service to INTERPOL trying to solve the case or deal with the issue on behalf of America, but that she'll be recalled to continue her other cases before any progress can be made on this one. Leaving it to the FBI or CIA to clean up.

Inspector Penelope hated to see a case go cold. This one felt like it would get personal, which made her all the more resolved to see it through.

"But if we don't get the bad guys here, then we'll get them next time. Next time…"
