The "food" war is kicking up. Maybe hire Momakase for this fight?
Momokase feels like the type of person who would absolutely not mesh well with our company and Mez's summary heavily implies that she'd jump ship for money.

Mirage tells you that this is a ludicrously good price, much more than its current market share would suggest… and because of that, she's a little suspicious of it.
Mirage is our best employee, because she does stuff like this and gives us IC wiggle room.

Alan, you better give us a damn good reason not to sell out--
…you mean we're relying on Alan's luck on an unmodified d100 for this?

…we're screwed :V

A reasonable in-character assumption to make is that Encom is seeking to gain a complete monopoly in this area, and that they're willing to pay so much could suggest that they have ways to recoup these costs once they've done so - at the least, we should be able to see if they're willing to pay even more for it, but it's also reasonable to think that if they're this desperate to get a monopoly it'll be bad for everyone to let them do it. We should definitely talk to Alan to see if he can tell us more, and maybe talk to Winston - he might be more understanding if we frame it in terms of being wary of what Encom could be up to.

Pan-State Homeowners Association
That sounds incredibly cursed.

Sycorax
[ ] Offer to Collaborate with DEI
DC N/A
…either we get the option to turn down their offer with no repercussions, or DEI has become a really, really easy colab. We aren't that desperate are we?

Nice to have these signposted.

(Mezmerella circled this part several times in red ink on the paper she sent to you, with no explanation.)
Probably just her (somewhat justified) paranoia about other people being able to brain-hack her.

Might be worth hiring, as an addition to the miniboss squad. Combining dance magic and super music could have potent results. Token good teammate anyone?

Outcome: Litigate for Bonkers Bobcat action removed.
That seems to have resolved itself nicely.

ENCOM
[ ] Offer to Buy DaedalOS
DC 0
Can we get Alan's opinion on this?

The Franchise Wars have been kicked into high gear! You gain an additional +1 income from your dinosaur meat!
Interestingly we are getting money not for being in the Franchise Wars, but rather simply because it is going on and DEI makes food.

Honestly this makes me want to talk with Alan more. We don't sell and he finally suceeds on a task, hopefully earning enough of his trust to tell us about the Grid.

I don't see that accomplishing much. A Utah-based company denounces a militia that operates in New York City for no discernable reason. To play devil's advocate, it does play into our reputation of standing up to bigotry.
I mean, I don't think they literally operate solely in New York, it's just that New York is the center of the magical community.

Peacekeeper
  • Themed on the nuclear missile, Peacekeeper is known for using an esoteric form of radiation emission from her black and gunmetal exo-suit. Attempted lawsuits from arrested criminals concerned about long-term exposure have thus far gone nowhere. Apparently all tumors have thus far proven benign, which is nice. Because of this, Mezmerella suspects someone is backing her; this kind of lawsuit only gets dropped if someone's tidying trails.
Downbeat
  • Techno-beat villain with an RGB on white theme, flight, and energy blasts, all tied to a symphonic music track she mixes on the fly to arrange her powers. Primarily money-seeking. Known nemesis of Peacekeeper. Mezmerella has filled the margins of her file with a conspiracy theory on how she's able to consistently face Peacekeeper, primarily centering around the possibility that she is a super pretending to be a tech cape, is actually a paid actor, or is being swapped out by some shadowy organization to keep up with the radiation poisoning that may or may not be happening.
Just in case people don't remember who these two are, Noelle (Peacekeeper) and Kendra (Downbeat) are two roommates in a friendly, albeit violent rivalry with each other. They are both sponsored by Bakaemono for their cape activities, albeit unaware that the other has the same backing. They were seen in "Friday Night Funkin' Fights" and "Fredzilla in: The Banzai Blowout" investigating (with Fred) the monsters running around San Fransokyo. They also encountered Juniper's mother-turned-eel, and some minor character who is not important at all.

Approaching one will probably draw in the other. Oh, and they're DVV OCs from the early fluff of Gridlocked.

Wouldn't we be better off offering to be a shelter to whomever the huntsclan is targeting?

And with the masquerade still hanging on it would probably be wise to tell the magical bazaar groups not the public.

I mean, aside from Gargoyles, so...Two-pronged announcement. Offer santuracy to Gargoyle-kind in a public statement, denouncing the Huntsclan (same as we did with Toons) and, elsewhere, privately contact our allies in the Magus Bazaar and tell them that, so long as they're willing to not do murders and such, magical creatures are welcome in our remit. Who knows, maybe use that as set-up for an action to hire a wizard in a turn or two, thus luring more magical creatures to our territory to be easily available for recruitment.

Also, part of me wants to hire Downbeat for the fourth member of our team (Music + Dance makes sense to me), but also, we'd risk dealing with Peacekeeper, who scares me a little.

Don't worry, all the tumors are benign. So far. It's only half-depleted uranium being used. Downbeat is clearly still doing fine. Also because Peacekeeper holds back a lot against her roommate.

OK, giving people cancer is some supervillain shit and not even our kind of supervillain stuff, the Syndrome kind. I am not a fan.

Why don't we finish getting the big hero 6 people for a heroball?
Oh, right. Yeah, Fredzilla is higher priority. Although, unpopular opinion, not sure I really want Go-Go.

Am I Mandelaing myself, or didn't Alan's action get a Bare Success because of shenanigans with the bonuses from being a corporation?

I mean, they kind of are a package deal in practice? Fred is fun narrative wise but his likely stats would make him closer to a Max or Dennis than anything else. While we have some space in our hero cap to work with post Max leaving the hero pool, we still don't have enough where it is justifiable to solo take Fred. We're at 25/30 currently.

1: Mewni Queen (Occult Unit #1)
2: Occult Unit #2
3: Fred

Where the goal would be to do Gogo + either a Intrigue unit to deal with infiltration glut or a free space for any random hero recruits we might find space for in scenario 1. In scenario 2 it would probably be an Intrigue character plus the floating free space. I don't really see what sort of use Fred would have in the latter group as assuming there is a 3 person minimum for a heroball based on blackops, I don't see who would be a decent third for him in practice.

I not going to sell the OS, and we could use our whole AI thing, that we want it using our own systems rather then anyone else.

Guys guys, what if we do the Collab with Tobe.
That way if San Fran explodes before we can estradite our heroes we have another good Intrigue unit which also buffs our martial to help in the crisis. We also would be able to get a far better spy network in the city up and running.

It of course requires an intrigue action, but if there is an intrigue collab we should take it.
