Yeah, but Sinatron seems like a surprisingly decent sort, so this may not be as bad for Deavor getting his way as you'd think.

More generally, Winston isn't really much of a contender for King-level power on his own. He's too soft without someone like Evelyn or Sinatron doing the sneaky shit. Even if Winston somehow won a power struggle and no contenders like Sinatron rose up against him right away, in the long run someone would take his power.

I have no idea if Sinatron will do a hostile takeover or not. There is a decent chance he likes Winston enough to work for him, and even if he doesn't it would be pretty easy for us to defend ourselves.

The Alliance with Olympia is to important to pass up right now, and Sinatron is fairly easy to complete.

For Learning we can stick monogram on ODI, Transmissions, and either a Jumba action or Silphium (Since the response of every councilor who isn't dumb was DEAR GOD WE HAD THIS THE WHOLE TIME?, I feel its worth it). Wasabi has a +86 by default, so we just need to spend 40 XP to get to a Guarenteed Success.

Also whats the limit to Roddy?

Also I'd like Alan to do his personel and Lizzy to do Transmissions, both because after XP she can't critfail, and because I'd feel terrible if all the programs died.

I´d say that Sinatron would see Winston as "a good bloke at heart who just lacks the gumption to get dirty when needed" and therefore would be open to help him out in something akin to an inversion of what deal Doof and Mirage have going on - meaning that where Mirage tempers Doofs self-destructive pettiness and actually keeps DEI running as an actual, semi-respectable company, Sinatron would take care of anything too seedy and underhanded for Winston to stomach.

So yeah, with "Shore up Olympia" getting stonewalled hard by the council, Repairing Sinatron might actually be our best shot at supporting Olympia around the Council´s imho very unwise veto stance.

Ok, my explanations for this.
I really dislike the temp ball team having Gomez, Technor, and Mezmerella, mostly because they are some of our best Occult, Diplo, and Intrigue units, and likely wouldn't make that good of a Martial heroball (Learning, yes, Martial, No). My main reason for rushing was to get more rosterspace, which we do not need.

I feel blowing up the Cogs factory is good, if only to help our Red Car Railroad friends out, since Doom appears to be cracking down hard on them. I also feel having Technor send out a report of the Helping Hats being bad for your health is good as well, and will be more effective then Doof trying to ban them which Mirage has already said, will not work. I want Kermit, so thats why I have Moseby on him, and Wasabi can get a 100% on Sinatron after XP. Lizzy can't get a 100% on the Transmissions, but it went up this turn and we don't have a cryptologist, so I'd prefer her 86% chance to anyone elses to both maximise success and more importanlty, minimize crit failure. I could probably be convinced to change the Intrigue portion (goob is just there because I think getting the deets on Doris is important, but Cult, Crime and San Fran all are important as well), as well as what Jumba's doing to either him on Transmissions and Lizzy on Silphium/Her Insect Control or Him on weird object. Roddy was annoying since his Lair Personal cost a fund and they haven't actually given him a free one yet, they said they would, but I could be willing to swap him out with Wasabi and have him finish his desk if we get explained what Roddy's limits actually are.

Raises hand

Hey, what if "Find Agent Russ" was intentionally left off our choices because, y'know. Part of needing to find him is that we forgot he even exists, so we need to remember he exists before we can actually find him.

What I'm saying is

Just write him in, you goobers, the QMs are trying to hide him on purpose for immersion

To be fair its not just the Russ action that is missing but its understandable that some actions slipped through considering how big this update is.

For the moment the actions that are missing that I have found are:
-Martial
[ ] Upgrade Norm Prime (still missing Energy Weapons)
- Stewardship
[ ] Hold a Powerline concert
- Intrigue
[ ] Investigate Crime in Doofania (It wasn't a Mirage action)
- Learning
[ ] Psychologically profile a target
[ ] Environmental Adaptations (Dinosaurs)
- Occult
[ ] Golumetric Theory
[ ] Hunt for Agent Unknown

Okay since Industries is a new mechanic I decided to gather all of the actions that are stated to help us in them and a few that might be related.

Foreign Markets:
[ ] Expand into Foreign Markets
-[ ] Japan: Eastern capital of bleeding-edge science, robotics, ninjas, and anime. Their Prime Minister is Kitsunezuka "The Big Cheese" Seymour.
DC 120

-[ ] British Isles: Industrialized centers of trade and commerce. Includes the UK and Ireland. Home to John D. Rockerduck, oil magnate and Second-Richest Duck.
DC 130

-[ ] France: Bonjour! This futuristic country hosts noir scenes, genetic engineering, romance, fine dining, and supervillain terrorism.
DC 130

-[ ] Thembria: Frigid, repressive state on the edge of Siberia. The Thembrians maintain a robust army and chilly relations with the rest of the globe.
DC 100
I am making this a separate category, but it is possible for us to enter into these areas. I think the best thing here is to try and compete in an industry that area is lack in rather then one of the ones stated. For example, doing Advanced Robotics in Japan or Bio-engineering in France will run into competition but doing Food in Frozen Thembria might be easier.

Retail:
[ ] Move Your Brand into Idaho
DC 120
We currently have +1 in retail so if we are willing it might bump us up to +2. Questionably worth it.

Advanced Robotics:
[ ] Develop Civilian AI
DC 120
[ ] Develop Consumer AI
DC 110
[ ] Study Diecast Robotics
DC 130
I've included the AI options since though it doesn't mention it outright it does say in our industry page we have a great chance to grow here due to AI. So we have three hundred plus DC options that could lead to major growth in this feild we already have a +2 in. Though it should be noted we are likely to end up getting some response from other Robotics players soon because of it.

Restaurants:
[ ] Hopper Food Group - Fast food conglomerate with multiple smaller restaurants under their North American banner. Cost: 8 Income
Yearly Income: +3
DC 95

This increases our investment in [Restaurants]. There seems to be a lot of potential for development in this market.
We technically are in this already, but we are at a 0 so really this is just getting started in practice.

Healthcare:
[ ] Research cures for genetic diseases
DC 150
[ ] Research Silphium
DC 90
We are not established in this and have a high level of entry but we also have a long hanging fruit that improves it when we do.

Food/Agriculture:
[ ] Sequence crop genomes
DC 110
[ ] Research Silphium
DC 90
One of our biggest at a +3 right now. Both of these are relatively easy so we could probably go up in term of this if we invest the actions.

Motor vehicles:
[ ] Research exotic vehicles
DC 85
[ ] Sponsor SPLIT/SECOND
DC 80
We are currently at marginal here thanks to Lee and lets us reenter it. I am also putting Split/Second here cause it could have some synergy with it and Mass media. The latter we have at +2 and it could also raise somewhat.

Aerospace:
[ ] WyndComm Enterprises - Civilian aeronautics company that constructs and launches satellites for commercial use. Has worked on contracts with government and private space programs in years prior. It might be a good way to jump-start any plans you might have. Cost: 5 Income
Yearly Income: +1
DC 80
[ ] Research sublight drives
DC 140
Not established at all but we could easily by buying Wyndcomm. Right now I don't think it is worth it unless we also go for research sublight too so we have something big but even that is apparently on a time limit.

Blocked:
[ ] Research Uburnium fuel
DC 130
[ ] Research Flubber Power
DC 100
[ ] Develop a New Social Media Platform
DC 160
[ ] Continue the Doofenshmirtz Evil Space Program
DC 140
Overall, we have two energy project blocked due to Gal fed shenanigans, One in Mass Media cause Encom crushes us at it and One in Aerospace due to our own incompetence.

Conclusions: From what I can tell from an Industry perspective we should certainly take the AI and Silphium actions as they grow our presence in our two most prominent industries in Food/Agriculture and Robotics. We could also do well getting into Aerospace, Restaurants and Healthcare with some investment but right now no way to grow those into something bigger. There are also options to try and turn marginal holds in Motor Vehicle and retail into established ones though the latter requires taking it from Olympia. Finally, we basically have no way to expand in Energy or Mass media unless thing change with other factions.

Overall industry wise I think we need to consider what exactly we want to do. Do we want to try and have a major industry where we are a big player? Cause if so are big focuses should be in Robotics and Food with though we should expect a fight over the former for sure. Or do we want to be a small player in a lot of things? That is not risk free either since that means we are easily pushed out.

We should also consider our opposition too because if we enter into something big we are going to make enemies or need friends. If we go into Robotics heavily we are going to be fighting the Zabatsu and maybe should consider collaberating with Olympus if they are still their by the end of this turn. While at the same time the people we already are fighting are places we might want to get involved, Doom is probably big in Motor Vehicles so moving into it might be a good thing for us to hurt him in other ways. I might be misreading but I think Toffee also has a presence in food based on the whole Corn deal thing so this might also be a field to fight him in.

In the end though I think the big thing we should ask ourselves about Industries is this. Where are we in this for the money and where are we in this to make somebody else lose?

[ ] Improve traps
DC 150
Yes!
Goofy: What could go wrong? (Pass)
Well that's concerning.
[ ] Form a black ops group
DC 90, three to five capes required
Aw. I knew we were taking to long but this long?
Gomez: Gomez would be ecstatic at the idea of being bossed around by a big strong villain.
He's a hench.
Coyote: What could go wrong? (Pass)
Wile, you should know better.
[ ] Invade Drusselstein
DC 100
No.
Malifishmirtz: Why don't we simply mind control them? (Pass)
Janus: Hrm.
Janus is opening up. Good for him.
-[ ] Write in on how to deal with them

Council Outlook: Depends on action
Mind Controlled Lice.
Tolerance for Nonsense: One-Sided
Oh she sounds great.
Malifishmirtz: Wait, you have a clone? I want a clone! (Abstain)
I'm enjoying Malf's limited understanding of what's going on.
Results will take time to manifest.
Another chat with Dreamfinder is needed.
[ ] Clear the name of Bonkers Bobcat
DC 150
Dang it. It wasn't just Mirage being bad with Toons.
…but who was the real culprit?
Oh no! Ace Attorney rules!
This is a Global Action. Global actions are high-DC actions that may be lowered by various personal actions or national actions, but the caveat is that this DC is reduced globally for every faction.
That's fun.
Toffee fight?
[ ] Steal nuclear launch codes
Why?
Finally!
[ ] Root out high-level moles
DC 120
Not the worst DC.
Outcome: Other-Dimension-Inator created, options to fund expeditions unlocked for funds per trip
Need to buy Muppets need to make money.
Coyote: [Unnaturally quiet] I would like to use these contraptions. (Pass)
Goofy: Well garsh, that sounds like f-! (Pass)
Coyote: No!( …un…-pass?)
Don't relapse Wile E.

Here's a preliminary plan:

[ ] All New, All Evil
-[ ] Martial: Reorganize your PMC (Khan) (XP?)
-[ ] Diplomacy: Recruit from your Rolodex
--[ ] Cruella de Vil
-[ ] Diplomacy: Mandate Company Dresscodes (Max)
-[ ] Stewardship: Rebuild Sinatron
-[ ] Stewardship: Clear the Name of Bonkers Bobcat (Moseby)
-[ ] Intrigue: Interrogate Michael Yagoobian (Monogram)
-[ ] Intrigue: Root out high-level moles (Mezmerella)
-[ ] Learning: Research Silphium
-[ ] Learning: Research exotic vehicles
-[ ] Occult: Repair the Avatar of Felldrake
-[ ] Occult: Basic Magic Theory
--[ ] Doof
---[ ]Accept Bellwether's Invitation
---[ ] Chat with the Bossman
----[ ] Alan Bradley
----[ ] Max
----[ ] Goofy
--[ ] Norm Prime
---[ ] End your obsession with platypodes
--[ ] Dennis the Duck
---[ ] Train with Maui Mallard
--[ ] TECHNOR
---[ ] Build giant robot arms
--[ ] Dr. Jumba Jookiba

--[ ] Queen Lizzy

---[ ] Train the Vagabond Ninja
--[ ] Marco Diaz
---[ ] Train with Macbeth
--[ ] Tom
---[ ] Rule the Underworld
--[ ] Gomez
---[ ] Toady Up
--[ ] Janna
---[ ] Study the Manual of Witchcraft and Alchemy
--[ ] Roddy Blair
---[ ] Design a Lair
----[ ] Jumba

Since there's a period of relative peace and quiet (nothing is actively on fire), we can spend this turn preparing for the future - building up, training, doing personals and knocking out a few easy techs for the future. A lot of these things, personals especially, we'd never get around on doing normally but they will benefit us in the long run.

Chats with Bossman should be fine even with the malus, and I think they're necessary. Alan had a rough transition to 3D DEI culture, Goofy has been with us since the very start, and we do owe Max amends for Peru - but the real reason is, we know OOC that all three of them are tied to various secrets we don't know about IC. Max interacted the closest with ????, after all.

Heroes are assigned on the basis of 'we can't afford to mess this action up'. Siphilum and exotic vehicles are there to set us up for healthcare and SPLIT/SECOND, respectively. Martial is the stickler, I suppose - I don't think we are ready for a blackops heroball. Our heroes aren't developed enough nor do they synergise with each other, we need personals to prepare them and only then form a team. TECHNOR, Juniper and Gomez are all given personals to that effect.

So, I have a number of questions about this plan, but 2 really important things
-[ ] Martial: Reorganize your PMC (Khan) (XP?)
Khan rolls roughly +89 even after XP, since the tech malus triggers on this. We have 20% of succeeding.
-[ ] Occult: Repair the Avatar of Felldrake (Tom)
Tom won't do this, it's not Star related.

Also monogram is a free action, we have the ability to take another intrigue actions (ninja'd)

The base DC to infiltrate at Tier 1 is:
Base Infiltration DC= 50+Intrigue of King or Councilor equivalent+Relevant traits and company bonuses-penalties
[ ] Seed corporate sleeper agents
DC varies depending on the corporation. Xanatos Enterprises 120, Drakktech DC 98, Khan Industries DC 91, Glomgold Enterprises DC 92, Sycorax DC 93, Funtelligence DC 103, Bakaemono DC 108, ENCOM DC 140, NMEIZ 125, Cloverleaf Industries 88, Olympia Corp DC 86, Gen-U-Tech DC 105, Nightstone DC 126

(Crossed out corporations cannot be infiltrated due to lack of a network in the area)
SO THEN! There's some very interesting things to be revealed here, we'll be able to guess the Intrigue the Kings (or their Councilors) have, at least setting up a maximum amount of Intrigue anyways.

Xanatos Industries: 120-50=70. I'm not sure why it's not 122, because he has 72 Intrigue. Might be a typo, might be something else. But it is interesting there aren't traits for this first level.
Drakktech: 98-50=48. I don't think Shego's Intrigue Councilor has 48 Intrigue and we've seen her Intrigue before, which is 22. She probably has traits.
Khan Industries: 91-50=41. We've seen what we believe to be Khan's Intrigue before, 26. Nor have we seen any Council mechanics from him. So he has traits that increase the DC by 15ish.
Glomgold Industries: 92-50=42. We've also seen Glomgold's Intrigue and have not seen any Council mechanics. He has 32 Intrigue, so a trait of +10 to the infiltration DC.
Sycorax: 93-50=43. Amara has an Intrigue of 34 and isn't large enough for a Council. So a trait that increases the DC by 9.
Funtelligence: 103-50=53. Trevor does not have anywhere near 53 Intrigue. The Yokai is almost certainly involved here.
Bakaemono: 108-50=58. This would serve as evidence against the theory that Judy acts as a Prince that the Yokai can order around, because she only has 21 Intrigue and an increase of 37 is a lot, I think it's too much for traits. They probably use the Yokai's Intrigue here.
ENCOM: 140-50=90. The highest infiltration DC. It makes plenty of sense. I'm inclined to think the MCP has traits that increase the DC to infiltrate rather than having a flat 90 Intrigue.
NMEIZ: 125-50=75. Toffee has 50 Intrigue. His company has a trait that increases the infiltration DC by 25.
Cloverleaf Industries: 88-50=38. Doom has 28 Intrigue, his company has a trait that increases the DC by 10. Or he got a new councilor, hard to say.
Olympia Corp: 86-50=36. Sinatron has 30 Intrigue and we don't know how much Winston has. We can at least say there are anti-infiltration traits here.
Gen-U-Tech: 105-50=55. And Gen-U-Tech continues to be weird. I don't think Sevarius would have 55 Intrigue, and Gen-U-Tech is too small for a Council, so there probably are traits.
Nightstone: 126-50=76. Thailog was created with Xanatos's mind and Goliath's strength, so probably a lot of Intrigue. But probably not the same as Xanatos (72), as +4 is a weird boost for the infiltration.

Just gonna put this out there... invading Drusselstein would give us a place to run all sorts of illegal and unethical (according to squares) experiments with impunity. Like Flubber. I don't think we should do it this turn, but it might not be a bad idea eventually.

Someone is clearly having fun with the council comments.

Martial
[ ] Form a black ops group.
Opening up new mechanics is almost always a massive improvement. Heroball especially if it opens up some hero slots.

Only other option worth considering would be [ ] Reorganize your PMC, as the extra action would be very helpful.

Diplomacy
Research agreements are counter productive, as we already have too many learning actions we need to get through. Recruitment is generally good.

Stewardship
[ ] Rebuild Sinatron
If we want our new ally to be of any use at all we need to do this.
[ ] Implement Large Herbivore Exhibits
Glomgold is not an enemy we can afford to make casually.

Intrigue
[ ] Root out high-level moles
Really need to get this done before something else screws us over.

Learning
…really annoying to have our AI expert MIA.
[ ] Research extradimensional tech
Access to other worlds will be extremely useful.
[ ] Decode Odd Transmissions
If people want the bot at the end of this then we really need to get started.

Honestly almost any of the learning actions would be good.

Occult
[ ] Basic Magic Theory
This seems like a gateway to actually doing anything meaningful with magic.
Between [ ] Search for Magical Individuals and [ ] Summon Demons I think I prefer the ???? result rather than a random recruit.

Side note: sod Felldrake, sod his crappy Avatar and sod his time sink of a quest.

Quest
We have some time before this times out and a whole bunch of urgent stuff we need our best heroes for. It can wait.

Doof
[ ] Do some introspection about Norm
[ ] Spend some time with CJ
I refuse to vote for any plan that doesn't have both of these.

I'm actually rather keen on doing the self improvement options, particularly [ ] Take a time management class.

It also would saddle us with actually owning that place.

Dunno if that´s worth it.

Issues
  • Khan's malus would apply. First action isn't gonna be realistic with such a low chance of success
  • Diplo is ok, copy of everyone else's pretty much
  • Same issue of very low chance of success with Bonkers, unless the DC of 150 was a mistake
  • We really ought to buy Hoppers, we've been hinted it's going away.
  • We have more important people to chat with right now than Goofy, Alan, Max. Like how most of our council members we have never chatted with before! Coyote, Ludivne, Janus, Mirage, Malf!
  • ODI + Transmissions are a long time due. Silphium and exotic vehicles are okay but Dinos is more urgent
  • We really ought to have a hero unit on BMT
  • Who is Jupiter?
  • Trying to perfect the temporary black ops heroball is a recipe for a headache. Perfect is the enemy of good, plus you don't know what a perfect heroball looks like because we haven't unlocked the mechanic yet, so you'd have to be running off of assumptions.
  • Also, I'd say if you really want to "prep" units like Juniper for black ops, you should have her train her dance magic rather than trying to meet any more coworkers.
  • I'd say we probably want Tobe to read the Mad cookbook. It cost a lot at auction and we got it free, and raising his occult gives us more room to breathe on doing occult actions.
  • If Janna is doing a personal I'd rather her try again to get a focus.
  • Looking for Russ should be attempted this turn, unless the DC is crazy high.
Doof
[ ] Do some introspection about Norm
[ ] Spend some time with CJ

What if we need to PA to find Russ?

Fun Fact from the Discord Q&A:
It would cost 4 income to buy an island the size of Buddy's warcrime lair. There wouldn't be any infrastructure but there also wouldn't be a perpetually angry mob protesting any upgrades.

Goofy: That's the super-dangerous stuff that destroyed Hawaii! We really shouldn't even look at it funny. (Veto)
Malifishmirtz: I don't know too much about this stuff, but it sounds like it has a habit of blowing up in your face and that explosion blowing up your country too. Soooo… it seems like a bad idea, even for me. (Veto)
Are our Councillors not in on the Hawaii fiction? I thought the biggest level of secrecy there could be in the Company was "Doof and his councilors know this".

Major Monogram has identified the individual who has allegedly stolen the Declaration of Independence, and subsequent government tracking has placed the individual in the rough vicinity of Gravesfield, Connecticut.
Uh oh, this is Owl House adjacent. Why is this Owl House adjacent?!

-[ ] Martial: Form a Black Ops Squad
--[ ] Technor (Leader), Mezmerella, Juniper, Gomez
Gomez is one of our best Occult units for nationals, though!

-[ ] Learning: Decode Odd Transmissions (Wasabi)
Why not Alan?

-[ ] Occult: Basic Magic Theory (Gomez?)
My point exactly.

--[ ] Marco
---[ ] Hunt for Star
--[ ] Tom
---[ ] Hunt for Star
So, a no on the "record a commercial for Star" idea?

-Given that civilian AI will take a long time to bloom, doing it as soon as feasible would be good.
-I would prefer not to invest too much more into Dinosaurs without good cause, because they are a pure prestige/luxury project. Like, there is nothing actually useful about them. Not even the food, cause they sure as hell aren't the best way to turn plants into meat.
Hopefully the large herbivores will be good enough for the Glomgold collab, since Carnivores need a precious research action, in addition to another stewardship action, not to mention risk of incidents.
-Seriously, there are far too many research options.
-Regarding the Zaibatsu situation, maybe a research agreement or collaborative action could open a way to be 'involved'. Of dubious effectiveness though.
-Research agreement with Olympia to work towards the AI&Robotics field? It's what they are specialized in. Alternatively, collaborate on a thingy.
The idea is complicated by considerations of whether right now their instability would make it less useful for us, or if it would actually help them out a bit.
-Maybe put Jumba on 'Cure for Genetic Diseases'? It's a field that should have big potential, and we know our main competitor isn't overly interested.

Can't we just buy Buddy's lair then? ...Mirage's PTSD and literal skeletons aside... Actually, nevermind that's a horrible idea. I'd mention Pink Unicorn Isle, but it was apparently just a rent and it's located in Hawaii so no way.

It still has the capability to wipe nations off the face of the planet- easily. To quote C-Moon on the concept of a flubber bomb, "cracking open the mantle would not be very conducive to putting your 40 learning to any use."

Putting a commercial out for Star is an outright horrible idea. Star is a hobo at the fringe of civilization. She isn't looking at TV on the regular. And relying on her to see the commcerial, figuring out the code, and then deciding to go to Danville without getting noticed is just... I don't really have the words for it.

Additionally both Marco, Tom, and Janna would say it is a risky idea with no benefit whatsoever and would refuse to cooperate. Though I imagine they would use some four letter words while refusing.

Hopefully the large herbivores will be good enough for the Glomgold collab, since Carnivores need a precious research action, in addition to another stewardship action, not to mention risk of incidents.
Glomgold explicitly will not do it unless both large Carnivore and Herbivore exhibits are finished. Additionally there is an Objective to be finished by finishing dinosaurs.

Glomgold has proposed a collaboration! When both Large Carnivore and Large Herbivore Exhibits are completed, Glomgold will offer a collaboration option to expand Dinosaur Parks to the international stage. Officially, this is a casual offer, but this is nonetheless a rare opportunity. Ignoring Glomgold for too long will result in his offer being retracted.

Gomez is one of our best Occult units for nationals, though!
If we put him on the black ops with a well fitting team (and Technor + Juniper are probably the best combination for him), then the black ops team would keep his trait. Thus we would have even more learning applied to his trait which means our black ops team could be even more powerful for occult actions as well when we don't need them to do Martial or whatever else. And considering we are probably going to be fixing Norm's platypode issue and Genghis's malus issue we'd be okay on martial units.

I want Technor to learn magic!

Plus, considering the source material, a team with Juniper and Gomez makes a lot of sense because he knows a lot about her power from fighting the people that had the same/similar power, as seen in the interlude when she unlocked Dance Magic to begin with.

The reason traits are listed under the options for heroballs is because traits will, depending on the hero unit and heroball synergy, carry over to the greater heroball. This applies to, for instance, Genghis Khan's tech malus, particularly in the case of martial actions, because Genghis is so far ahead of everyone else in martial it's hard for others to contribute.

Another example of a trait that can carry over depending on how well a hero unit functions in tandem with the ball as a whole is Gomez's Sufficiently Analyzed Magic trait.

Gomez's main thing is using science to release Divino's. He's getting twitchy and we don't want chaos demons in our backyard.
