Wendy Wower has figured out the secret behind fully sapient AI! Rather than being a programming problem, it seems like all you have to do is treat them like they're people and… 'believe in them', for lack of a better term. Weird, isn't it? You've received widespread acclaim for discovering the secret, and you're pretty sure that history will record this as the moment that strong AI was cracked. Unfortunately Wendy is an extremely honest person, so when those books are written that horrific rap number will probably end up immortalized for all time. Begrudging congratulations have come in from Bakaemono, Funtelligence, and even ENCOM. You haven't released the actual process for doing so yet, but you could choose to do so any time if you wanted even more fame.
Public Opinion has increased!
DEI is now taken seriously by most academics and industry leaders!
Wendy Wower managed to make the single greatest breakthrough in robotics possibly ever. Again. And this time you didn't even steal the credit from her! Wendy gains +15 loyalty!
Phineas and Ferb have repaired your Normbot hubs to full functionality! Your Normbots have given your Paramilitary Mongol Corps an additional +3 to all rolls against crime in Doofania!
'Do Some Introspection About Norm' action has changed!
'Spend time with Princess Java' personal action unlocked!
'Psychologically profile a target' DCs have dropped!
Your musical, barring the awkward rap number, was a huge success! You gain 2 income!
The boost to Public Opinion and Professional Clout is very nice to have (although it does annoy me a lot that we *Weren´t* taken seriously until now) - I expect the latter to net us a lot of Collab offer from other polities, especially in the digital sector.
...Yeah, we definitely can use the 2 Income right now - pretty sure that we are still a bit short on cash despite the windfall that was David buying our Room Climate tech (especially if we still plan to buy out Hoppers)
The military oomph of our turf getting buffed is definitely nothing I´ll be snubbing any time soon.
...Yup, I agree that we should have Doof take the Haste Potion and do both PAs relating to our AI kids to finally capitalize on the issue.
I´ll take the big loyalty buff to Wendy with a bow, thank you very much.
We can definitely use the lowered DC for the Psycho-profiling for our Doppleganger
As for THOSE:
You're not exactly able to mass market the things yet. It's kind of contradictory to the entire concept to produce fully sapient AIs by the thousands if you need to anthropomorphize each of them individually.
"Develop Military AI" action unlocked! "Develop Civilian AI" action unlocked! "Develop Consumer AI" action unlocked! There may be some ethical concerns inherent in the act of selling intelligent artificial life!
'Publish Your Findings' personal action unlocked!
I´ll get to them in a separate block further down for easier access
If sapient AI's are now a thing that will only become more common, it would be wise to get a head start on how they are handled by the law.
If the American government ends up making laws on the matter, DEI and Wendy may end up being consulted as the expertes who brought about this new development. This would give us a degree of influence on how the laws end up.
On a local level, we could establish a system for giving legal identities to developed AI's. Doof doesn't have the legal authority to give them citizenship (I assume), but over the path of city hall/state governments, there should be a way to give them a legal identity that lets them use many of the same services and institutions as 'normal' people. This path of action could also end up paying dividends by making our territory more attractive for independent AI's, a bit like how it worked with toons. That's on the farther edge of speculation though.
I think this means we can use our influence over state officials to grant AI the right to vote, and other rights as we see fit, at least within the states we have such influence over.
Perhaps we can take an action "Declare your territory Sapient-AI-Friendly" to do so.
Perhaps some kind of official sapience test kind of like the IRL Turing test? We could call it the "Wower Test".
Yeah, we *definitely* need to prepare a huge lobbying offensive for AI rights after cracking the secret to AI Sapience.
For this I propose "Project D. E. R. P." - *Doofenshmirtz Evil Robot Pedagogy*
My idea is that since we know how to "Uplift" AI to Sapience, we push for these True AIs to be recognized as living beings with rights akin to Toons and Anthros, because let´s be honest: I expect Doom to jump onto our discovery and (sorta rightly) claim, that we are essentially enslaving these "poor, unrepresented beings" despite knowing better similar to how he did regarding the SRAs axing. So we preempt that fucker and turn the narrative right back at him. For example, we could muse about him deliberately "dumbing down" the Cogs to make them more receptive to his control.
Next step will be us installing means to properly rear those newly-sapient beings - daycare, proper education, legal counsel...you can name it, we provide it.
Once we got both the lobbying and social support network for Sapient AIs going, we can *think about* Publishing our findings, so that the first batch of True AIs will have fond memories of us.
Easy-enough idea that will make us a dominant name in terms of AI and Social Issues in one go.
I found an idea for a new -inator.
it would likely cause a full on anime interlude but that sounds like it would be funny as hell
...Please do not compare the Doofman with that super supremacist asshole...
Star Botterfly is now within our grasp!
One step closer to creating Roboto de la Cruz!
No way!
Our counterpart to Sinatron *Needs* to be Mr. Bot-gers.
Just imagine it:
The first personality we "bring back" via AI Doppleganger and Sapience Bestowment just so happens to be *The Kindest Man who ever lived* - the sheer PR, morale and maybe income boost that will generate for us will be *insane*
Side note that I'm posting due to some idle QM chat: sometimes we just have movies happen offscreen. Characters will just do things that lead to climactic plots in their own lives but don't really affect Doof in any way. We'll probably never show these to you, but it helps make the world feel more live when DEI stumbles onto the outcomes of them. Or into them, in the case of Twelfth Night. To be fair, we were hoping you'd get involved that time.
Considering that our involvement in Twelfth Night was *Explicitly stated* to possibly have spelled the difference between a hard-fought victory and *the total annihilation/enslavement of all Mankind*, I´d say that we were right to "stumble into it"
