Something foreign disturbs the aether of Asgard, though you know not what or from whence it comes.

I think this rules out Storkules. He's not Asgardian but he's not not Asgardian either.

It's no use trying, Goofy." you say solemnly as Storkules fails to react to Goofy's earnest plea. "He's entered a berserker rage."

"Wait- that's Norse!" Max protests. "He's Greek!"

"I HAVE A VERY CONFUSED ORIGIN!" Storkules bellows as he charges at you!

Ah, found the post that details how nemesises of hero units works. The quoted section below is relevant right now I believe.

The person thinks they are sneakier than they actually are, and they either have a reason to be haunting this area or are after one of our hero units. The Glooms fit the latter criterium and I am fairly certain they fit the former.

Nemeses are recurring foes that will continually try to face your Hero Units in some form of combat. They will occasionally interfere with actions you send their foes on, giving a penalty to the National Action heroes are performing, beginning their own assault, or inserting themselves into a quest their foe is on.

Remember everyone, the Glooms are channeling Team Rocket, if it's them it's going to be fun and probably end with them blasting off again.

Donald Quest is a comic miniseries set in a fantasy universe of floating islands with a viking theme. The local version of Donald decides to become a hunter of meteorbeasts using a flying viking ship. In case you don't remember, the previous update made mention of flying viking ships.
Do you know how many people fit the critiria of being "less sneaky than they think they are" from Donald Quest, and if so could you name them? It is possible these people aren't the Glooms.

I am unsure of what the Glooms could have acquired that would disturb the aether of Asgard. Kitsune might have felt the duo during Twelfth Night.

Well, the viking Beagle Boys for one, but those tend to come in bunches, rather than alone.
...As do the Glooms.

Without the rush of battle to distract you, you can hear footsteps echoing faintly behind you, the steps of one who thinks themselves far more adept at stealth than they truly are. Perhaps an excellent passing amusement, if you were to disguise yourself. On the other hand, the lion will be difficult to hide, and while you hear only a single pair of plodding feet, you sense… a presence.
That's one person. Hildy might be riding on the broom they bought, I suppose, but it probably is someone else unfortunately.

Does Dennis still have his "Have a Sandwich" save? if so, he makes a decent greeting party for whatever is incoming, IF it's hostile, unfortunately his diplomacy is pretty subpar, so we need to decide are we facing a hostile force we want to ambush, or a neutral force we want to make contact with.

Alright, I was bored, so I added up the bonuses we would be rolling with.

[ ] Hide yourselves Intrigue
21 + 22 + 11 + 9 = 63

[ ] Face whoever comes Martial
21 + 17 + 12 + 9 + 9 + 5 = 73
This could have an additional 11 if it counts as trickery

[ ] Attempt to discern the magic's source Occult
23 + 17 + 12 + 9 = 61

Edit: If it does come to a fight, we have Dennis to deny them the initiative. I'm extremely tempted to have them try to figure out the magic's source.

It's highly likely its the Glooms doing an interrupt and they're entire existence is to basically be Team Rocket. As such they are completely useless at getting theiry quarry. I'd rather figure out what the magic is than hide or prepare to fight.

It's... certainly possible it's the Glooms but we have very little information to base that off of, I'm not as confident in it as you seem to be. I wouldn't want to play things recklessly here based on such an assumption.

Can't we just, you know, hide ourselves AND the cage, but not the meteorbeast?

Like, Janna could let go of the beast and we could sneak away while it fights whoever is after us?

I'm thinking maybe it would be best to face this head on?

If this is really a viking kinda inspired land, there's a good chance it might be someone that would look down on hiding/cowardice.

After the current fight, this presents the difficulty of caging a meteorbeast that doesn't want to be caged again, and was only forced into the cage so easily last time through trickery.

Easier said than done.
