An Alternate Explanation
Doof was looking intently at one of his Inators. The Duplicatinator, to be exact.

"I'm going to press it"

"Dad, no. That's bad idea." Venessa told him.

"But I reaaally want to."

"Well you shouldn't."

"That is an inadvisable course of action, father." Norm Prime chimed in.

"But think of all the cool stuff we'll be able to do. Another round of super-probability. Huh? Huh?"

"But dad, think of all the bad Inators that came right after. And if those are happening all at once, won't they get super-boosted too?"

"You're over-thinking it. We can handle that stuff. And besides, I think the country will thank me for making it rain food form the sky and make everyone more fashionable anyhow."

Norm voiced his opinion again. "The super-probability incident was not as great as you remember, father. It did as much harm as good, aided your enemies more than it hurt them, and we still haven't felt the full repercussions of your inventions' effects. Repercussions that may be worsened if you repeat the incident."

"Yeah, dad. What if L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N. escapes prison because of this?"

Doof thought about it for a moment, but shakes off his doubts.

"My decision is final! I'm activating it!"

In a panic, Venessa flipped the switch to another nearby Inator. In a flash, her father was frozen in a block of ice, his finger inches away from the Duplicatinator's big red button.

"Uuuum..."

"Knowing father's inventions, I think he will be fine."

Venessa and Norm looked at each other for a minute.

"I won't tell if you won't." Norm finally said in his perpetually upbeat tone.

At that moment Mirage came in, likely intending to discuss Doofania's next actions, and then took in the scene of her boss frozen in ice.

"Uuuuuuh... hey! Dad was just tinkering with his Inators. You know how it is. So he's sort of incapacitated right now and said you're in charge for a while."

"I... see. I best make preparations then." Mirage replied and then walked back out of the DEI lab.

"Come on, Norm. Let's get rid of this duplicator thingy."

"The Duplicatinator." Norm helpfully corrected, as he grabbed the offending invention to carry off.

I actually don't consider our rivals crit successes as our loss. Most of it directed against their own prime rivals, and don't touch us at all. At worst we will suffer one diplo action of Judge Doom against us while Toffee and Phobos armies would beat each other senseless, Glomgold would again increase his revenue which doesn't affect us at all and Shego will continue doing nothing. Or take for example GalFed [] Desperately request help from your superiors action. They are definitely not our allies, but their crit success saved us from Kat space invasion. Even if some crit successes would speed up some of our rivals plans I am not particularly against them revealing their hands and us finally dealing with them. Government right now particularly strong and can deal with it, especially with our help. Also Oympus would probably take action to sponsor Hego and crit success here would be at least interesting.

And now for an analyzes of the turn deeper than just pointing at laughing at Alan misfortune.

This is the combination of most of our AI success this turn so:
-Upgrade Normbots to current standard (Ludivine)

Critical Success!
-Repair Normbot hubs (Phineas and Ferb)

-Chat with the Bossman: Wendy Wower

So its a combination of upgrading our Normbots (CS), getting them back up and running, the research into the secrets of AI and finishing the Musical with Norm Prime.

All in all this promises to be very interesting and give us a nice boost in the AI department.

This on the other hand is a combination of our worst rolls this turn

-Malifishmertz (Create Meatlings (use the meat from the rain-food-inator))

I can see how Jumba making an chaotic experiment + Malf creating Meatlings would synergies for a bad result but I wonder how Alan fits in all of this.
Does he finally snap and command the creation of Jumba and Malf into battle or its just that the chaos of those 2 basically makes this the worst 2 months of his life (again)
Also I guess that Janus is involved in that mess but his roll was really average so I don't think he would get any negative or positive.

Mesmerella graciously accepted your offer of employment with a gleeful cackle followed by five hours of careful negotiation with your best insurance lawyers to confirm the details of her mesmerization powers. No mesmerization to kill, no mind controlling public officials. Otherwise, she is ready and willing to BEND THE WORLD TO YOUR WILL.

She yelled that last part. You like this girl.
No matter how good or bad she is mechanically as an employee this does show that she fits the mentality for DEI perfectly.
First checking there will be no problems and then nonsense, I think she will fit right in.

-Repair the power plant (Roddy)
-Repair Normbot hubs (Phineas and Ferb)
All repair actions were done successfully so I'm happy about that

A bare success on the hatless man but a success non the less. Maybe with this we discover about DOR-15 but the Dickens in general also do so now they will want to investigate putting themselves at risk.

To be continued in Interlude: Red Tape Do Not Cross
For someone whose specialty is Intrigue Monogram does have shit rolls in that (his Intrigue rolls for the moment have been 9, 17 and 7).

The DC for Form a Coven has been reduced to DC 48!
While not getting it done this turn is annoying it does mean that unless the dice hate us with a passion it will get done next turn

All in all I consider this turn a positive one, yes we did get 2 CF but they were on lower priority actions and at least the fails from Jumba and Malf do promise to go together and we succeeded the actions we really wanted to get done and the Coven is pretty much guaranteed to get done next turn (maybe with less odds if we pick the Ice Inator but still good odds)

I'm leaning towards going for Mirage because I'm interested in seeing what Mirage Quest would be like, there's a chance that we could get a glimpse at more accurate opinion stuff for the government, and while using Mirage essentially locks us into Khan for martial and throwing Janna or Kitsune at Coven, it's not really that terrible stat wise and we could get a chance to squeeze some of the higher difficulty intrigue stuff through. Especially if Russ happens to return now.

Also while Mirage does remove or shift some actions, because it's Mirage taking the helm, we could also get some unique actions and/or DC reductions we might never have thought of as Doof as well.

We do not know how low or high our public opinion is, and any of the crit fail interludes could cause it to fall lower. When accouting for the Rainfoodinator as well, we could potentially have the population of Doofania riot against us, which would force us to go for actions that would fix the issue (and prevent us from preparing a turn where we crit as many actions as possible, as standard public opinion raises may not suffice if the population starts rioting and it is possible that the actions that would be related to stopping the rioting would have high DCs; then again, this part is speculation...).

I say we are better off going for the On-Ice-inator instead of Duplicatinator.

July/August 2017 Results
Well that was painful.
Bots are happy though so that's something.

[ ] The Duplicatinator! This inator replicates the effect of the last five inators rolled, all at once!
Fuck no! They were all bad enough the first time.

[ ] The On-Ice-inator! Doofenshmirtz cryogenically freezes himself for two months as a proof of concept. Next turn, Mirage is in charge of DEI! King stats and National Actions will be changed to reflect this!
…at absolute least she is unlikely to try activating an inator.

Those are actually really good. And on a 68 too. Might be worth spamming the auto-brewer.

And I thought Hego was cursed.

I'm leaning towards MirageQuest, really. Recreating the Super-Probabilinator is pretty tempting, but ultimately it's something we've done before, which just isn't as fun. Being able to run things as Mirage for a turn sounds fascinating, and I for one don't really feel like passing that up. The significantly lower Martial is a bit worrisome, but considering how well the Normbot upgrade seems to have gone, I'm not too concerned. Learning is a pretty major hit, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if this is where a bunch of the actions we can't take show up (or not), but ultimately, I think we can deal with that for a turn. The bonus to diplomacy is nice, but what I'm really interested in is the Intrigue increase. With NOWCA (despite their less than impressive debut performance) we have three actions we can use to take advantage of this, and plenty of intrigue options I'd love to do if we had a better chance of success. This might also give us a look at some of those ??? DCs, which would be nice. Also, we'd be able to take several of Mirage's personal actions, and she's got some really good ones.

I thought we were rolling well for once... then I got to this part of the results. Losing Kat I don't even mind too much at this point, but I REALLY worry about bungling the DoI investigation. For all we know we probably just made ourselves look like we're planning our own coup d'etat against uncle sam. And as for the GalFed computer... HOO BOY I have no idea what happened there but I REALLY hope we didn't destroy our IT infrastructure again.

OK I know personals can't get conventional crit-fails, but it still seems something went very wrong here. But how did this get entangled with our computer efforts?

We could get another shot at a crit turn. The super inator would take effect for next turn's inator roll. The rest is semi-tolerable except for getting the rainfoodinator again.

So basically, do we want to suffer the rainfoodinator affects one more time for a 2nd all crit turn?
OK, I know that this will cause us some harm and is in general a highly questionable idea. But the through of getting yet another all-crit turn is making me crackle like a true supervillain so I'll probably be voting for it.

SPEAKING OF WHICH, how about we finally do the Supervillainy action next turn under the inator's effects? A crit on that will hopefully get us boatloads of income and also due to the crit not damage our image too badly.

From discord, the probabilitator in the last five inator roll? It's the super probabilitator.
What the difference between the "super probabilitator" and the normal probability-inator we had a few turns back?

Martial -16
Diplomacy +6
Stewardship -1
Intrigue +12
Learning -27
Occult -4

Big debuff to Learning and Martial, not so big buff to Diplomacy and Intrigue, minor hits in Stewardship and Occult. There is the potential advantage of learning stuff about the opinion of others without the Doof perception filter (TM) and we probably can manage.

Still not my favoured option, but we can probably manage for one turn.

--[x] [Stewardship] Repair the power plant (Roddy)

Great Success

Roddy managed to do a great job at repairing your power plant within the time allotted. He wasn't able to really improve it or anything, but you realize that asking him to do that on top of everything else might've been a bit too much to ask. Either way, your power grid is running at full capacity once again! Even better, that energy conservation campaign is paying dividends- thanks to all the energy you're saving, TECHNOR is able to run at his full capacity!

Technor's Power Hungry malus has been eliminated!

...That´s it? That´s the payout for *Two* Great Successes?

Don´t take this the wrong way, but one of our (admittedly most useful) Operatives getting buffed - or more accurately, "de-debuffed" - feels like a bit of a lackluster reward considering the cost for it.

That being said, us nailing both our Repair Stews pretty well is pretty cool - especially considering certain *events* I´ll get into later on....

Calm down, guys - that Failure is not even half as bad as it looks.

Sure, Coyote didn´t get a hold of Kat at all, who might not even be in NYC after all - but that´s *all* there is in terms of fallout. He didn´t get hurt, he didn´t get caught by Kat and he didn´t piss off DAvid with any chaos he might have caused.

If anything, the description of this result does mention that David is/will be conducting his own investigations into the matter, which means that off-screen Doof has warned/will be warning him of Kat after all.

That´s nice to know and makes this "Failure" even a small Success in the end aside from the opportunity cost of *one Intrigue option*, which while annoying isn´t too big in the greater picture.

On top of it all, Odd Buddies Jookiba/Janus Lee are *somehow involved* with their quasi Inator-roll.

Considering that the Interlude is title "Deja Vu", it seems to be about them accidentially recreating LMs rampage across Danville a while ago - *just as we were coming back from that one*

...Did we get hit by our own Stinkelkrampen-Inator or what?

--[x] [Occult] Form a Coven (Gomez)
DC 95
46+19+11+1+10 (XP)=87
Bare Failure

Gomez has made a pretty good start of meticulously cataloging and examining the spellcasters you know and what they can actually do. Once that was done, he proceeded to send invitations out to every mage or individual with a scrap of arcane knowledge in your organization for a delicious mystic community luncheon, plus a few people in your contacts. Unfortunately due to scheduling conflicts the luncheon won't actually occur until next month.

The DC for Form a Coven has been reduced to DC 48!

Bit annoying that our Coven *Again* didn´t work out, but at least Gomez did enough of the groundwork to lower the DC for our third try enough to almost *Guarantee* a success and make a Crit Sucess pretty likely as well.

So it´s quite clear what Malf will be doing next turn...

-[x] Personal Actions:
--[x] Doof:
---[x] Tinker with your Inators

[ ] The Duplicatinator! This inator replicates the effect of the last five inators rolled, all at once!
[ ] The On-Ice-inator! Doofenshmirtz cryogenically freezes himself for two months as a proof of concept. Next turn, Mirage is in charge of DEI! King stats and National Actions will be changed to reflect this!

There it is, guys:

The third big issue this/next turn.

I am very torn on those two - on one hand, having another *Crit Turn* would be huge, but do consider the facts that A) by now, most DCs are noticeably higher than they were back in January and (meaning that we´ll be hard-pressed to "load the dice in our favor" again and B) after the mess to be expected to happen in "Deja Vu" and Monobrows Failure, I don´t think that Shego, Dave and the Feds (the three Kings most likely to recognize the repeating pattern of Probability having a seizure) would take kindly to us fucking things over like that AGAIN.

The On-Ice-Inator on the other hand is relatively sedate, but would allow us to smooth over any public fallout from our fuckups this turn with Mirages higher Diplomacy and Intrigue.

So, my advice would be to WAIT with the final decision on which Inator to pick until after all other stuff this turn (Quest, RR and Interludes) have been dealt with and we have a more complete picture of just how huge the pile of rubble we have dig ourselves out atm, ok?

[x] Brew a potion
68

Bubble bubble, boils and stubble! Oooh, this is fun!

Choose one:

[ ] Potion of Invisibility
Single use. The target gains +10 to a single national action where Stealth would be useful.

[ ] Philter of Glibness
Single use. The target gains a +20 roll to a single diplomacy or intrigue roll they make during a Quest or as a Personal Action to lie to someone.

[ ] Potion of Haste
Single use. The target gains one free Personal Action the turn this is used.

[ ] Healing Potion
Generic, we know. Single use. The first time a character using this potion would be defeated and removed from a combat, they are not.

Hm, while I am very tempted to go for the Glibness Philter to have something to maybe deal with the current PR fallout, I can definitely see the appeal to the Potion of Haste - depending on whom and what we use it for, of course.

So, I´ll table this decision for now

--[x] Genghis Khan (Get an apartment)
46

You finally got around to providing Genghis Khan with an apartment... is what you would have said, if Khan hadn't been living in Doofania for two and half years now. He's apparently quite happy in the small yurt community that he's built up with his fellow temporally displaced Mongols inside of Downtown Doofania National Park, but he seemed to appreciate the gesture and accepted the improved cable package.

Genghis Khan gains 5 Loyalty!

I´ll take that free Loyalty, thank you very much

--[x] Max (Go to see a Powerline concert)
85

To his own astonishment, Powerline actually remembered Max! Good thing too, since he pulled what Goofy has been referring to as 'the same stunt as last time', and probably could have been arrested if he didn't. Max was invited backstage and found out that, due to the whole Danville-Doofania renaming confusion, Powerline has not put on a concert in your city in years. Maybe you can fix that!

Hold a Powerline Concert action unlocked!

That´s really good news for our Entertainment sector - after all, Powerline seems to be the Toon/Anthro equivalent to Michael Jackson, who had no problem at all to fill whole stadiums to capacity with his performances, which means that him holding a concert on our turf *will* rake in a lot of Income and/or PR for us.

As for the whole Danville/Doofania issue, just have "Doofania" be the name of our corp´s PR/Entertainment wing like Wrestlemania and stuff - boom, everyone from Doof to the Feds gets what they want without anyone really having to give up anything for it.

*groans*

I really shouldn´t be hung up about him missing his mark by *two frigging points*, but still - it still annoys me on an OCD level.

But aside from that, it´s almost certain that next turn Wasabi will finish that one an hopefully reap some benefits for it...so in the end, it´s still a very good outcome

Semi-random roll: Wasabi

Juniper, managed to make friends with your perennial neat freak Wasabi over their home city of San Fransokyo, mutual love of Yaki Taco and, oddly, the Cheetah Girls. It may take him a bit longer to get used to cooperating with a crazy cape but… not as long as you were expecting.

Progress revealed: (77/100)

And these two PAs are progressing nicely - very good as well.

So yeah, all in all this turn in itself was not so much "bad" as it was "seriously bipolar" - with two big Interludes gobbling up a lot of results and turning them into a shitshow and a rousing windfall, respectively.

Let´s just wait and see until we really start panicking, okay?

I say we are better off going for the On-Ice-inator instead of Duplicatinator.
We are much better on public front than most people assume. For example our recent escapades with Kat resulted in considerable increase in public opinion as result of our prioritizing public safety. Quick scroll through results gave me something like this:

Public opinion increases slightly!
Public opinion boosted significantly!
Public opinion slightly decreased!
Slight public opinion decrease!
Slight public opinion increase
Public opinion moderately increased!
Public opinion has been marginally increased!
Moderate public opinion increase!
Public opinion has increased!
Public opinion has decreased sharply!
You chose to prioritize the people of Doofania above all else. Your public opinion has increased considerably!

I'd say we can take another sharp public opinion decrease from Déjà vu inerlude, take another significant decrease from Duplicatinator and at worst be somewhere at our starting positions, definitely not in riot territories. And this is without taking any opinion boosting actions next turn.

Maybe, but we also have the Fed PR to juggle, which is similarly wonky.

Rainflood inator don't affect government opinion, only public one.

I am not talking aobut the Rainfood-Inator, I am talking of them getting pissed at us for stuff like LMs rampage, our faffing around with the DoI and whatever the fuck happened in "Deja Vu"

That´s the kind of stuff that will get us into hot water with the Feds at some time.

I fully agree with you, that on improving relationship with government she is a better choice. But it is her only definitive advantage.

Mirage have only +6 diplo over Doof, and even if she has some additional options to appease feds, it would mean making damage control top priority over critting on coven, building effective black ops team, critting on Dimensioninator and so on.

What the difference between the "super probabilitator" and the normal probability-inator we had a few turns back?
There's no difference. It's the same Super-probibilityinator we had a while back. With the exact same effects it had on that turn. It's not the inator entered into the pool. It's the inator that was rolled on that turn (i.e. effected by the Super-inator). Instead of what was in the pool, we'd be getting auto crits (successes or fails) on everything; and so would everyone else.

EDIT:
Here's what I know about the two inators:
Mirage Turn - Gives us an alternate view of actions by someone who isn't insane. Will have the same amount of actions (even Occult actions) as Doof. Stat changes are -16 Martial, +8 Diplomacy, -1 Stewardship (but may be effected by +2 on corporate rolls in which case it's +1 Stewardship), +12 Intrigue, -27 Learning, -4 occult. We will have Different national Actions. We will NOT be able to roll an Inator.

Take 5 Turn - Our Inator Roll for Sept/Oct 2017 will double. Everyone on Earth will either Crit Succeed or Crit fail and our RER is a coun flip between really good and really bad. -5 to all diplo rolls from heroes except for those on Quests. One Random Non-villainous hero turns evil. And -3 Income.

We currently HAVE 3 Income. But this time we can Invest in Volatility from the crit-inator. In addition, the Coven would pretty much be a guaranteed crit (This will NOT give us three occult actions, but it would probably be pretty good anyway).

Please no fearmongering. We have nothing to suggest that our citizens our on the verge of attempting to tear out Doof's throat.

As for the inator, is our next company retreat this coming turn? That might be something to consider. And since it's not already supercharged, the Duplicatinator would only affect us, right? And while it's all stuff we've done before, I think it'll be a whole new different wacky experience to have them all happen together at once.

Before the vote starts, I want to bring up a few things.
A. People are saying we could rejoin the government with Mirage. I think this is a really bad idea, because either Doof would be annoyed, or he'd just ignore it. If we're 'rejoining' the government, I want it to be Doof's decision and a mark of his character development.

B. We have more than enough options in everything but Intrigue to try and take the actions on the all crit turn. Plus, if we're worried about Income and PR, we could try and crit on 'Invest in Volatility' as a write in, as well as 'Host a Powerline Concert'. Together, those should offset most of our losses from the other Inators, and leave us with lots of other crits as well.

C. It's important to remember that people didn't only get crit successes from the Probabilitor-Inator. Toffee crit failed on finding Star, and his factory was utterly destroyed. Doom had some secret projects revealed. Both Olympia and DOR15 lost prisoners, one of which gave us the ability to meet Goob, this very turn.

D. Our allies also succeeded. The crit from the probabilitor-Inator prevented Kat's species from coming down to Earth, thanks to the call for help. Star hid extremely well, and Xanatos was Xanatos.

E. The Deviled-Egg Inator was really fun, honestly. We should definitely try it again.
