Ok, now that I´ve time to gain some distance as well as some perspective, let´s have a look, shall we?
--[x] [Martial] Upgrade Normbots to current standard (Ludivine)
1d6=3 Absent Minded does not activate
DC 65 (Reduced by XP)
84+21+15+20+2=142
Critical Success!
--[x] [Stewardship] Repair Normbot hubs (Phineas and Ferb)
DC 110 (Reduced by XP)
91+24+38+3=156
Acceptable Success
---[x] Chat with the Bossman: Wendy Wower
50
---[x] Start Writing a Musical
95+40+16(Norm)=151
Action Completed!
--[x] [Learning] Research Emergent AI (Wendy)
DC 140 (Reduced by XP)
60+38+28+30+2=158
Success
--[x] Norm Prime (Help father write a musical)
33
To be Continued in Interlude: Spark
...Those are *six* different actions/people feeding into one interlude, with everyone but Norm roll at least well (and even his contribution seemed to help considering that Doof got a buff for his roll outta it), people - and it´s somehow connecting AI/Robot shenanigans with *a musical*
Yep, a typically Doof-y day at the office apparently - not that I am complaining, though
--[x] [Diplomacy] Recruit from your rolodex: Mesmerella (Technor)
DC 70 (Reduced by XP)
63+18+23+2=106
Decent Success
Mesmerella graciously accepted your offer of employment with a gleeful cackle followed by five hours of careful negotiation with your best insurance lawyers to confirm the details of her mesmerization powers. No mesmerization to kill, no mind controlling public officials. Otherwise, she is ready and willing to BEND THE WORLD TO YOUR WILL.
She yelled that last part. You like this girl.
Nice...might give us a warning against any Olympian Screenslaver BS and stuff.
Also, smart of Technor to pre-empt any mishaps thanks to Mesme using her powers in ways that are liable to backfire.
--[x] [Diplomacy] Form a Research Agreement with the Government: With the Imagination Institute (Goofy)
DC 75 (Reduced by XP)
49+18+28+5=100
Decent Success
To be Continued in Interlude: Inspiration
And Good Ol´ Goofy continues delivering when we need him - good boy, best friend.
Because let´s be serious: On top of securing access to the Institute for once Russ comes back from his forced soul-searching trip, Goofy might also be able to endear us some more to the Feds, *which we will need desperately atm*
--[x] [Stewardship] Repair the power plant (Roddy)
DC 110 (Reduced by XP)
98+24+29+15-2=164
Great Success
Roddy managed to do a great job at repairing your power plant within the time allotted. He wasn't able to really improve it or anything, but you realize that asking him to do that on top of everything else might've been a bit too much to ask. Either way, your power grid is running at full capacity once again! Even better, that energy conservation campaign is paying dividends- thanks to all the energy you're saving, TECHNOR is able to run at his full capacity!
Technor's Power Hungry malus has been eliminated!
...That´s it? That´s the payout for *Two* Great Successes?
Don´t take this the wrong way, but one of our (admittedly most useful) Operatives getting buffed - or more accurately, "de-debuffed" - feels like a bit of a lackluster reward considering the cost for it.
That being said, us nailing both our Repair Stews pretty well is pretty cool - especially considering certain *events* I´ll get into later on....
--[x] [Intrigue] Investigate the hatless man (Olivia)
DC 90 (Reduced by XP)
48+18+34=100
Bare Success
To be continued in Interlude: Family Finding
...So Olivia found another Dickens and didn´t get either Hatted or discovered? Good to know.
--[x] [Intrigue] Track down Kat: ACME Unlimited (Wile E. Coyote)
DC ??? (Reduced by XP)
28+18+18+10+2=76
Massive Failure!
Two months worth of investigation in New York and any adjacent cities got you absolutely nowhere. Coyote wasn't able to find out a single thing about Kat or where he may be hiding; as far as he knows Kat might not have been in the city at all. You sure hope that David will be able to tell you something after conducting his own investigation.
Calm down, guys - that Failure is not even half as bad as it looks.
Sure, Coyote didn´t get a hold of Kat at all, who might not even be in NYC after all - but that´s *all* there is in terms of fallout. He didn´t get hurt, he didn´t get caught by Kat and he didn´t piss off DAvid with any chaos he might have caused.
If anything, the description of this result does mention that David is/will be conducting his own investigations into the matter, which means that off-screen Doof has warned/will be warning him of Kat after all.
That´s nice to know and makes this "Failure" even a small Success in the end aside from the opportunity cost of *one Intrigue option*, which while annoying isn´t too big in the greater picture.
--[x] [Intrigue] Investigate the theft of the Declaration of Independence (See write-in) (Monogram and NOWCA)
---[x] Hack into surveillance data from cameras in the National Mall, use CoffeeJava processing power to determine any suspicious individuals on the scene at the time of the theft.
DC 115 (Reduced by XP)
7+18+21+2=48
Unmitigated Critical Failure!
To be continued in Interlude: Red Tape Do Not Cross
...Now, THAT on the other hand is a huge deal, since it might get the Feds pissed at us relatively soon after we tried smoothing things over regarding LMs fuck-up.
We really can´t stay in Uncle Sams good books for long, huh?
That really sucks.
--[x] [Learning] Decrypt GalFed Computers (Alan Bradley)
DC 140
1+38+23+20+2+10 (XP)=94
Critical Failure!
To be continued in Interlude: Deja Vu
--[x] Jumba (Experiment!)
16
To be continued in Interlude: Deja Vu
--[x] Janus Lee (Help Jumba Experiment! Muahaha!)
58
To be continued in Interlude: Deja Vu
--[x] Malifishmertz (Create Meatlings (use the meat from the rain-food-inator))
1+20=21
To be continued in Interlude: Deja Vu
...Fucking hell, what just happened?
Alan continues having shit luck with coding while under our aegis, while Grunkle Malf utterly shat making the refuse from our Rainfoodinator useful for his Meatlings (but at least we know that these two things would have genuine syngergies with each other if not for him rolling abyssmally).
On top of it all, Odd Buddies Jookiba/Janus Lee are *somehow involved* with their quasi Inator-roll.
Considering that the Interlude is title "Deja Vu", it seems to be about them accidentially recreating LMs rampage across Danville a while ago - *just as we were coming back from that one*
...Did we get hit by our own Stinkelkrampen-Inator or what?
--[x] [Occult] Form a Coven (Gomez)
DC 95
46+19+11+1+10 (XP)=87
Bare Failure
Gomez has made a pretty good start of meticulously cataloging and examining the spellcasters you know and what they can actually do. Once that was done, he proceeded to send invitations out to every mage or individual with a scrap of arcane knowledge in your organization for a delicious mystic community luncheon, plus a few people in your contacts. Unfortunately due to scheduling conflicts the luncheon won't actually occur until next month.
The DC for Form a Coven has been reduced to DC 48!
Bit annoying that our Coven *Again* didn´t work out, but at least Gomez did enough of the groundwork to lower the DC for our third try enough to almost *Guarantee* a success and make a Crit Sucess pretty likely as well.
So it´s quite clear what Malf will be doing next turn...
-[x] Personal Actions:
--[x] Doof:
---[x] Tinker with your Inators
[ ] The Duplicatinator! This inator replicates the effect of the last five inators rolled, all at once!
[ ] The On-Ice-inator! Doofenshmirtz cryogenically freezes himself for two months as a proof of concept. Next turn, Mirage is in charge of DEI! King stats and National Actions will be changed to reflect this!
There it is, guys:
The third big issue this/next turn.
I am very torn on those two - on one hand, having another *Crit Turn* would be huge, but do consider the facts that A) by now, most DCs are noticeably higher than they were back in January and (meaning that we´ll be hard-pressed to "load the dice in our favor" again and B) after the mess to be expected to happen in "Deja Vu" and Monobrows Failure, I don´t think that Shego, Dave and the Feds (the three Kings most likely to recognize the repeating pattern of Probability having a seizure) would take kindly to us fucking things over like that AGAIN.
The On-Ice-Inator on the other hand is relatively sedate, but would allow us to smooth over any public fallout from our fuckups this turn with Mirages higher Diplomacy and Intrigue.
So, my advice would be to WAIT with the final decision on which Inator to pick until after all other stuff this turn (Quest, RR and Interludes) have been dealt with and we have a more complete picture of just how huge the pile of rubble we have dig ourselves out atm, ok?
[x] Brew a potion
68
Bubble bubble, boils and stubble! Oooh, this is fun!
Choose one:
[ ] Potion of Invisibility
Single use. The target gains +10 to a single national action where Stealth would be useful.
[ ] Philter of Glibness
Single use. The target gains a +20 roll to a single diplomacy or intrigue roll they make during a Quest or as a Personal Action to lie to someone.
[ ] Potion of Haste
Single use. The target gains one free Personal Action the turn this is used.
[ ] Healing Potion
Generic, we know. Single use. The first time a character using this potion would be defeated and removed from a combat, they are not.
Hm, while I am very tempted to go for the Glibness Philter to have something to maybe deal with the current PR fallout, I can definitely see the appeal to the Potion of Haste - depending on whom and what we use it for, of course.
So, I´ll table this decision for now
--[x] Genghis Khan (Get an apartment)
46
You finally got around to providing Genghis Khan with an apartment... is what you would have said, if Khan hadn't been living in Doofania for two and half years now. He's apparently quite happy in the small yurt community that he's built up with his fellow temporally displaced Mongols inside of Downtown Doofania National Park, but he seemed to appreciate the gesture and accepted the improved cable package.
Genghis Khan gains 5 Loyalty!
I´ll take that free Loyalty, thank you very much
--[x] Max (Go to see a Powerline concert)
85
To his own astonishment, Powerline actually remembered Max! Good thing too, since he pulled what Goofy has been referring to as 'the same stunt as last time', and probably could have been arrested if he didn't. Max was invited backstage and found out that, due to the whole Danville-Doofania renaming confusion, Powerline has not put on a concert in your city in years. Maybe you can fix that!
Hold a Powerline Concert action unlocked!
That´s really good news for our Entertainment sector - after all, Powerline seems to be the Toon/Anthro equivalent to Michael Jackson, who had no problem at all to fill whole stadiums to capacity with his performances, which means that him holding a concert on our turf *will* rake in a lot of Income and/or PR for us.
As for the whole Danville/Doofania issue, just have "Doofania" be the name of our corp´s PR/Entertainment wing like Wrestlemania and stuff - boom, everyone from Doof to the Feds gets what they want without anyone really having to give up anything for it.
--[x] Mirage (Recruit at an SFIT Career Fair)
53
Mirage rounded up a gaggle of promising interns at the SFIT Career Fair. While you're a little disappointed you didn't find any super geniuses or anything, these interns should really help you out on all sorts of your projects.
Internship Program: +2 to corporate stewardship rolls
--[x] Vanessa (Watch the Eggheads)
41
Vanessa spent the rest of her summer observing your scientists and sitting in on a few of their seminars. Overall, things went okay. You get the sense this went better than it would have if L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N. were still around.
Vanessa gains 1 Learning!
Well, "a penny saved is a penny earned" as the saying goes, so I´ll take these two as well.
--[x] Tobe (Train ''''''your ninja'''''' some more)
72
Tobe came back into his office recently smelling like shoelaces and orange soda, exhausted but clearly happy.
You're not sure you want to know what goes on in his """Training Sessions""".
--[x] Tom Lucitor (Rule The Underworld)
No roll needed
Tom spent the past two months in the Underworld, doing… hrm. Actually maybe it's best not to dwell on it.
*shrugs*
We don´t get any concrete results, so they don´t get any concrete responses - it´s that easy.
--[x] Wasabi (Organize your Workstation)
79
You're not sure how anyone could spend that much of their free time doing nothing but organizing their workspace, but Wasabi sure did. Even more surprising, he seemed to really enjoy himself!
(Progress revealed: 148/150)
*groans*
I really shouldn´t be hung up about him missing his mark by *two frigging points*, but still - it still annoys me on an OCD level.
But aside from that, it´s almost certain that next turn Wasabi will finish that one an hopefully reap some benefits for it...so in the end, it´s still a very good outcome
--[x] Marco Diaz (Train with Macbeth)
81
"Remember boy. Impossible to kill does not mean impossible to incapacitate. You just need to broaden the definition of 'incapacitate' when the Demon is involved."
(Progress revealed: 161/250)
--[x] Juniper (Meet your Coworkers)
77
Semi-random roll: Wasabi
Juniper, managed to make friends with your perennial neat freak Wasabi over their home city of San Fransokyo, mutual love of Yaki Taco and, oddly, the Cheetah Girls. It may take him a bit longer to get used to cooperating with a crazy cape but… not as long as you were expecting.
Progress revealed: (77/100)
And these two PAs are progressing nicely - very good as well.
So yeah, all in all this turn in itself was not so much "bad" as it was "seriously bipolar" - with two big Interludes gobbling up a lot of results and turning them into a shitshow and a rousing windfall, respectively.
Let´s just wait and see until we really start panicking, okay?
