Hmmmmm.... So who do we send and what sort of narrative do we want to create?

I like Two lead Buddy Cop, but what other show formats are there?

How about... a Caper?

We need We have the Backer, That's Doof. Russ is Slotting himself in as the Mastermind. Bonkers is The Distraction.

Max is The Kid.
Mirage is the Coordinator, or the Fixer.
Janna is The Conman or the Burglar.
Monogram is the Partner in Crime.
Wile E. is the Gadget Guy, maybe Coordinator too?
monogram is the Burglar (acrobatics training!) or the Coordinator.
Technor is the hacker.
Ludvine is the Gadget Guy
Dennis the Duck is The Kid.

So, lets send Max, Janna, and Either Wile E. or Monogram? Best spread of caper film roles. Should work nicely.

My Plan is:

[ ] Plan: Let's Pull off a Caper
-[ ] Max Goof as The Kid
-[ ] Janna Ordinia as The Conman/Burglar
-[ ] Wile E. Coyote as The Gadget Guy/Coordinator

EDIT:
We don't need Coyote for stewardship as much. Janna is BEST for quests since she can't blow them off. And Max is due for some character development. Also Wile E. can help on nemesis Attacks.

Hmm. Mirage would give us a *really* good intrigue score, but she doesn't do well with Toons. Janna is always in high demand for actions and I don't think this is really her idiom; same goes for Von Drake, although I'd sooner bring her. I could go for some combination of WIle, Technor, and Max, I think.
More importantly for Mirage is the boost to Diplomacy. We need that, IMO, considering the bare success we just got. Meanwhile, I want to keep helping Max and Russ bond, giving Russ the cool uncle/mentor roll.

My problem with Janna is it means not having her for anything next turn. And that means no Feldrake Quest, which is our most likely source of income for the next few turns, considering we're down to four.

We have a lot of income actions we can use from nationals if it gets bad. also, having 4 income is fine. you have anything big you want to spend it on? unless you do we're unlikely to lose 4 income in a single turn.

While Technor would be good I want him available for Diplo now that we have Juniper AND overclock as an option.

edit: redundant plan

Let's get dangerous! But also, let's not send Max into an environment he won't appreciate. Such as the heart of Anti-Toon Land.

Thus, I'd pick Janna, Wile and Technor. Janna is generally one of our most reliable units for Quests, as well as providing for Occult and Intrigue. Wile is a toon that can add to the narrative (and provides Martial, Learning and Stewardship). Technor is more sneaky than we give him credit for while also being a killer robot (and provides for Diplo).

Mirage is a bit too important for Diplo NAs. Max will probably incur a loyalty malus for sending us into Doomtown. Dennis is....yeah. Ludivine might work, but she's not really a fighter. We want Monogram to finish OWCA.

Plan Phantom Thieves
-[] Janna
-[] Wile E. Coyote
-[] Technor

If we're going to vote to send Max can we at least narratively give him the option to refuse with a hazard pay bonus and the fact it's a personal request from his mentor as incentive? We've established that he really doesn't like being sent off into danger and I feel that giving him the option to say no would soften the blow. At least when he's intevitably the butt of the joke again he can say he asked for it.

Speaking of Dennis, much as I think the guy could do a lot of good despite his low stats I'm also extremely nervous about bringing in a toon (and so I'm including Max and Wile E here) to a city where the ruler is known to use Dip to keep toons in line and aforementioned ruler is in fact the secret villain of the investigation. Bringing Dennis is a high risk/high reward because, although I'm going to have a hard time justifying it with words, I feel like Kung Fool is probably the quickest path to outing Doom as a toon at the cost of putting Dennis at massive risk of getting dipped.

I'm not sure it's worth it. I like Dennis as a character and don't want him to suffer that fate. But I also really like the narrative of one of the earliest toons coming home to fight off the evil that has plagued it for years.

He trusts dennis's loyalty at least because of his toonyness, dont know what makes him competent though
I was just cracking a joke about Dennis somehow managing to get his name on a list where competency is a desired attribute :V

Aranthorn has told us that although Max would be reluctant at first, Russ would successfully convince him. He's not going to be being forced.

You people keep forgetting: Dennis invented the art of Kung Fool! Russ has got to respect that. Call him an idiot savant, I guess. But, then, so are we.

I feel like we kinda have to send Wile E? Not only is he a Toon, but Blot could show up...And Wile E. knows a thing or two about nemeses. Him and Russ tag-teaming Blot...Yes please.

The toon tried to take a step, only to slip on his own tear puddle. He went flailing around the room, screeching but miraculously knocking nothing over. No lamp was broken, no table cracked, not even a single mug shattered on the floor. Eventually he stumbled back onto the mattress, unharmed and out of breath.
That is... actually weirdly amusing. Has this guy tried his hand at anti humor? He seems like a natural.

Plan Toons and Competence
-[] Wile E. Coyote
-[] Max
-[] Mirage

Here's the stats for my plan:

Martial: +61 (thanks to Coyote) (+71 with Nemesis)

Diplomacy: +40 (thanks to Mirage) (+45 if able to apply Government)

Stewardship: +33 (thanks to Mirage) (+43 if the toon bonus applies)

Intrigue: +81 (thanks to Mirage)

Learning: +36 (thanks to Coyote) (+46 if Toon bonus applies)

Occult: +15 (+25 if Toon bonus applies)

And yes, I realize mechanically, Max adds nothing. But he's Russ' apprentice, and I think he should be on this quest. Maybe he'll even get some progress on Toonforce, along with Intrigue.

I've not number crunched it, but I feel like Wile E and Mirage would have the best skills to apply here. Don't know about a third though. I really don't like sending Max into Doomtown, he's going to hate it and he'd hate it even more if he has an encounter with Doom.

Maybe Max and Bonkers could have a good heart to heart.
Bonkers sad he can't be funny
Max sad he can't not be funny

And could maybe learn a lot from each other.

Meh. It's not some trek to a far-off land. And I feel like, narratively, it fits: He's Russ's apprentice and, hey, who knows: Doom's whole thing is he's trying to hide his Toonishness. If anyone could put the pieces together on that, it's someone who's been trying to suppress his own Toon nature for years.
