Probaly so, yes...Getting rid of someone who killed someone you considered a great man and worthy opponent and using the killer as cannon fodder against someone who took your Nemesis dying as rallying call for her genocidal campaign is definitely something David would do - not outta revenge, but more to literally kill two birds with one stone.
This just made me realize how Doof and Xany are here. Two men trying to find their way in the world after the unfortunate death of their nemesis.
In spite of his attempts to be the perfect mastermind, he has more humanity and empathy than he wants to admit. This could recontextlize a lot of Xanatos' actions in keeping the world stable as a way of honoring Goliath. This, once again, mirrors Doof who constantly dresses up his altruistic actions as something else like his war with Doom when it could easily be interpreted as him trying to honor Perry's death.
If that was true, Xanatos wouldn't be worried about her succeeding. Whatever she's sending her army after isn't going to be negated by the existence of the sun.
That motive would still be plenty to get DEI's cooperation. There's no reason for him to lie about the artifact he's protecting making human genocide quick and easy.

Huh. I was just assuming it was the huntsmclan. Do you think Xanatos is throwing Dracon and his men at Demona as a round about revenge scheme that just so happens to assist multiple other aspects of the plan?

Partly due to your choices in Xanadu, partly due to you warning Xanatos (and thus the Manhattan Clan) ahead of time, and partly just due to bad luck, Demona's World Tour… did not go well.
Generic criminal scum, high ranking member (possibly the leader here?) of the Dracon crime family.
Canonically, the gargoyles and Elisa Maza disrupted his operations a few times and eventually sent him to jail, although his crime group kept operating without him. After Goliath, Angela and Elisa returned to New York after their magical wandering adventures (AKA the Avalon World Tour), Dracon's gang was engaged in a turf war with an east-European crime boss, Tomas Brod.
Given that Dracon is the alleged killer of both Goliath and Elisa Maza in this continuity, the turf war is the moment in which such a thing is most likely to have happened, since Elisa had infiltrated Brod's gang. Canonically, Elisa would blow her cover to save Dracon, after Brod assaults Rikers Island to execute his rival, but events seem to have developed in a different way here.
Gargoyle, formerly second in command of the Manhattan clan, apparently Demona's lieutenant here.
One of the main gargoyle characters in the series, with the usual abilities of the species (although not a physically top tier one like Goliath).
Mentally, he is a teen, albeit mostly serious and responsible (in comparison with the rest of the younger generation of the Manhattan clan, at any rate).
His deciding to side with Demona suggests some extreme departures from canon, since canonically he hated her with a passion after an incident (episode Temptation) in which she manipulated him into stealing a powerful spellbook to turn Goliath into her mind controlled slave. It seems that there might be some kind of crush on his part, because when Puck created an illusion of a possible future New York he had Brooklyn and Demona as being in a relationship.
Still, extreme departure is extreme.
Coldstone is a cyborg franken-gargoyle, created by Demona and Xanatos in collaboration. It was built from pieces of three different gargoyles from Goliath's original Wyvern clan, supplemented with robotic pieces provided by Xanatos and magically animated by Demona.
Physically, Coldstone is a fairly potent threat with gargoyle physical stats, inbuilt laser weapons and not much of a biology to speak of. As a result of his origins, however, his headspace is a right mess.
There are three gargoyle souls in there. Canonically, they are nameless, but in production materials they are known as Othello, Iago and Desdemona. As you can imagine from those names, they have a bit of a troubled relationship.
Here, the dominant personality seems to be Iago who is something of a sniveling backstabber who really fancied Desdemona, in spite of her objections and her being in love with Othello (who is actually the donor of most of the pieces currently part of the Coldstone body). Demona shouldn't expect much in the way of loyalty from this corner.
Canonically, Xanatos would have eventually built robot bodies for Iago and Desdemona out of gratitude towards Goliath, with Puck moving the souls with a lesson about spirit transference.
This probably hasn't happened here.
This, by the way, means that Coldstone may be vulnerable to some of the soul manipulation stuff that Tom is capable of doing.
Furthermore, it is likely that the Manhattan clan would really, really appreciate having Othello and Desdemona back, even as a creepy zombie robot thing.
I think that these three are the most immediately relevant to the ongoing action, but if any quick overview is needed for anything else, I am game. Today, I have some time to write stuff.
Thank you. Would you mind expanding a bit on the relationship between Demona, Goliath, and this 'Thailog' character I keep hearing about who is obviously somehow Nega-Goliath or something given the spelling of the name?

Yeah, both Doof and Xanatos aren´t as evil as they claim to be (of course, David got Heinz beat easily in that regard - but that´s beside the point) - plus I can actually see them become fast friends in a "Straight Man and Wacky Guy" fashion, who still insist that they are "only business partners".
Heck, both would complete each other in a nice way: Xanatos would help Doof take things more seriously and think before acting, while Doof could teach Xanatos to relax a bit and just...DO things without stacking plans on top of plans OCD-like.
Thank you. Would you mind expanding a bit on the relationship between Demona, Goliath, and this 'Thailog' character I keep hearing about who is obviously somehow Nega-Goliath or something given the spelling of the name?
Leader of the Wyvern clan in the Middle Ages, failed to defend his castle from Viking assault and got petrified along with a few survivors shortly afterwards, until the day the castle was raised above the clouds. This was accomplished by Xanatos, who simply put the castle at the tip of his personal skyscrapper.
Smart warrior guy, honorable and all that. Physically top tier for a gargoyle.
Originally, mated to Demona and father to Angela, although he wouldn't learn of his daughter's existence until season 2 of the series. His relationship with Demona didn't long survive his reawakening, since she revealed soon enough that she was allied with Xanatos and had gone loco in the coco. There was a whole slow boil romantic relationship with Elisa Maza that lasted the whole series without ever going official, which was the reason why Demona really hated Elisa's guts, personally.
Likely dead in this continuity.
Dracon may or may not be to blame. If Demona says that the sky is blue, double-check that it hasn't suddenly turned green, just in case.
Voiced by Keith David, which is not relevant to the story, but is worth mentioning.
Original Best Girl. Accept no substitutes.
In greater seriousness, detective in the NYPD, of mixed native american/nigerian descent.
Discovered the reawakening of the gargoyles early on, became their main friendly point of contact with humanity when Xanatos turned against them and eventually convinced the clan to move to the clocktower at her police station.
Got pulled along with Goliath into a trip to the magical island of Avalon, where they met Angela and other descendants of Goliath's original clan, fought an evil wizard and then had to experience a multi-month world tour in which the mists of Avalon ferried the trio from mystical hotspot to mystical hotspot.
In this quest, she seems to have died and probably not very long after returning to New York with Goliath and Angela.
As the rest of the Manhattan gargoyles, a member of the Wyvern Clan from the Middle Ages. Back then, she was Goliath's very loving mate and, for a time, the apprentice of the local Archmage (who mostly used her as a servant/henchwoman and mistreated her quite often).
Unlike the rest of the gargoyles, she didn't reach the modern age through magical stasis, but because she picked immortality along the way.
Long story short: Demona is to blame for the destruction of her original clan, because she betrayed the humans of the castle they were supposed to defend to vikings. Demona had been promised that the gargoyles would be left alone as masters of the place, but the vikings decided to alter the deal and smashed the clan to bits. Then, she discovered that Goliath and the few remaining survivors had been frozen in stone magically.
She kind of went nuts.
In any case, she eventually managed to find a second gargoyle clan, which she came to lead in time, and eventually allied with a human nobleman called MacBeth, with their pact being sealed by the spell of three witches (actually, a triad of powerful fae sorceresses). Demona regained her youth, MacBeth seems to have gained some of her strength, both gained immortality that can only be broken by one of them killing the other.
Demona helped MacBeth win the throne of Scotland, but (falsely) thinking that he was going to turn against her, Demona backstabbed him first.
Several centuries of unpleasantness follow in which Demona has to hide from MacBeth and other human enemies, including a line of gargoyle hunters, the Canmore Hunters.
Eventually, she meets Xanatos thanks to Puck's intermediation and they agree to an alliance, that she eventually betrays by using his resources to petrify the human population of New York during several days (indulging in quite a lot of statue smashing, before the petrification spell is broken).
This is after Demona had tried to enslave Puck to wipe out the people of New York. He trolled her by turning humans into gargoyles and, in rewards for amusing him, he gave her the boon of turning into human during daytime, with quite a lot of pain in every transformation.
At around this point, MacBeth and Demona are both kidnapped and mind controlled by the same fae triad that made them immortal, since they want to use them as pawns in a complicated mess involving Demona's original Archmage teacher who has achieved near godhood with a bunch of mystic artifacts and a stable time loop.
Stuff happens, the fae triad and the Archmage are defeated, and MacBeth and Demona are shipped to the human world with no memory of recent happenings, with the magic of Avalon sending them to Paris.
In Paris, Demona meets Thailog and immediately falls for him hard, since he is pretty much Evil Goliath. Using her new human form she seduces and marries MacBeth, with the goal of imprisoning him forever and stealing his fortune, but that fails because Thailog backstabs her without her realizing this.
Eventually, Demona and Thailog go back to New York were they pool their financial resources to create Nightstone Unlimited, a megacorporation, and hire a former employee of Xanatos, the rogue genetist Anton Sevarius to make clones of the Manhattan gargoyles that they use in a plot to wipe out the Manhattan clan.
This goes wrong when Thailog tries to kill Angela (which Demona prevents) and reveals that he ordered Sevarius to cook up a clone replacement for Demona. She takes this really badly.
However, Thailog's betrayal may not have happened yet here or it may have happened differently. Hard to say with the info currently available, but he is very domineering and if Demona is calling the shots (which she is seems to be), something has happened.
Gargoyle-human clone hybrid cooked up by Sevarius on Thailog's command, with Demona and Elisa Maza as the genetic donors.
Essentially, created to be a "lovely and obedient" bedwarmer for Thailog, but nonetheless more mentally developed than the other clone gargoyles made by Sevarius.
If Demona had been able, she probably would have executed Delilah with a woodchipper on principle.
Clone of Goliath, made by Sevarius during his time as an employee of Xanatos. He was educated with mind uploads designed by Xanatos during his evilest period, which resulted in Thailog turning out to be an evil supergenius and a bit of a general scumbag.
His first action in the series was to lure Sevarius, Xanatos and Goliath to an abandoned oil rig, where he stole twenty million dollars from Xanatos and tried to burn them all alive. His further activities suggest that Thailog didn't grow any moral fiber after that.
So, in a nutshell, Goliath's biological equal (though with a preference for laser weapons) and mentally he is as smart as Xanatos. Absolutely treacherous if there is some kind of profit to be had and all around evil, but not genocidal in inclinations (although given the opportunity, he may very well take a stab at world domination).
For the turpitude that was his involvement in the Gargoyles clone saga, see above.
Note for Brooklyn in this scenario; He was originally name as Goliath's second in command before Goliath disappeared to Avalon, so the fact that after Goliath died, he started to work with Demona, and the rest of the clan didn't follow his lead, implies there may be some bad blood or other issue going on there. Interested to see how that plays out.

Best guess: Anger over the deaths of Goliath and Elisa, plus possibly being upset over being rejected by Angela (assuming Broadway won here, too), plus perhaps some leftover attraction towards Demona.
So there's a lot to take away here, but here's the summary:
1. Fae are assholes. This should not be a surprise to anyone.
2. Demona is insane. This is also not a surprise.
3. Xanatos apparently went to Lex Luthor levels of wasting time and money to defeat his nemesis, up to and including to creating a clone of said nemesis which not only betrayed him, but is also much more dangerous than the original. For shame, Xanay. I expected better of you.
EDIT: By the way, who the hell named Thailog? Did he do it himself, or did Xanatos did? Because giving an evil clone the name of the original but backwards is extremely unimaginative, not to mention probably unhealthy for the clone. "Your name is representative of who and what you are: a backwards copy of an original we expect you to base your existence around."

Xanatos' greatest weakness is his admiration toward Goliath. All of his more evil, destructive plans that blew up in his face tended to be born from his attempts to get his own Goliath and Gargoyle clan like with the aforementioned Thailog as well as the Mutants he had Sevarius create.
The similarities to how he and Doof view their nemesis just pile up,
Things had gotten easier once Jack Jack started mimicking Kari's facial features. She'd never had a brother, but this certainly made passing him off as her own a lot easier. Kari still had no idea what had happened to Violet and her family, but whatever it was? It was probably fatal, since they'd never come back for Jack Jack.
Kari couldn't think about that too much without giving herself a panic attack.
It was only thanks to sheer dumb luck that she was chasing Jack Jack around the neighborhood when the missiles hit Violet's house. That was another clue that Violet and her family were never coming back.
It wasn't hard to figure out that the Parrs were supers. Not after all of Jack Jack's numerous expressions of super powers. It had taken everything she had had to keep those hidden and under control.
Violet's mom and dad had trusted her to take care of Jack Jack, but they hadn't trusted her enough to tell her what to do if they never came back. They hadn't even thought about it, it seems. If there were any instructions at all, they would have been in the house, but the house was gone now too.
It was just her and Jack Jack.
Her parents hadn't understood. They hadn't cared, or maybe they just didn't believe her.
They'd never liked Supers anyway.
They'd told her to hand Jack Jack over to child services, and that made sense, until Jack Jack lit himself on fire on the way there, attracting the attention of one of the Omnidroids patrolling the streets, causing it to try and kill both of them.
There were Omnidroids everywhere in Metroville, but especially by all the government buildings. There was no way that she'd be able to get Jack Jack in alive.
All of that ignored the fact that those Omnidroids? For all that they were created by Kronos Corp? They were supposedly bought by and working for the government!
That meant that the government was against them. Or, against Jack Jack, at least? But... that didn't change much at all as far as Kari's situation was concerned.
She needed to get somewhere safe. Somewhere the government couldn't get to her.
Somewhere with food.
It was that final part that decided it for her. There was one place in the country that promised free food for minimal effort. One place in the country which had someone saying they were in charge instead of the government. They had their own Robots too...
It couldn't be a government plot, what benefit would the government have in having someone in open... pseudo-rebellion, in the middle of the country?
But, he couldn't actually be in charge either because... the government would do something about that, right?
Kari hoped that there was something to the madman's claims, but honestly? They didn't matter.
Since her parents were firm on giving Jack Jack to the Government, Kari couldn't stay home any more. She couldn't rely on the food they provided. Couldn't rely on their money. Her parents loved her, she knew that. they'd be reporting her missing any second now. and once that happened? The Omnidroids would be looking for her.
She needed to go.
Jack Jack was wrapped up in the blanket she'd taken. Her backpack was full of diapers and formula she'd managed to get her parents to buy in those early first days when they were all still waiting for the Parrs to show up; and that she'd managed to take from the house when she started packing to go.
Kari had a lunchbox with meals for two days. It wouldn't be enough, but it should get her close. There just wasn't room for more. She could go without food for a couple of days, Jack Jack couldn't.
East.
The sun was setting behind her, which meant that east was... That way.
Kari squared her bike and started peddling. Soon? They'd be in Doofania.
Everything would be better there.
She hoped.
She started pedaling. She had a long way to go, and the sooner she got there the better.

Pedaling down the US Interstate on a bike wasn't easy. Having Jack Jack in the basket only made it harder. Somehow, Jack Jack had picked up on her mood over the past few days. he wasn't sleeping, but... he was quiet. swaddled as he was, he couldn't wander off, which was good too.
There had been a close call when Jack Jack had re-discovered he had the power of flight, or... maybe just levitation? Kari wasn't sure. This definitely wasn't her area of expertise. She understood babies, not superpowers!
But life it seems didn't care at all what she understood; so she'd need to learn fast.
She couldn't shake off the feeling that something was hunting her. Not someone, something.
She couldn't sleep for long. Between the fear of Jack Jack wandering off into the wilderness where she'd never find him, and the all encompassing fear that had taken hold of her, sleep wasn't easy coming even if she wanted it. She managed, a little. Fitful hours holding Jack Jack close to her chest while they huddled together under the meager baby blanket she'd brought for warmth. She was so hungry.
At least Jack Jack had a full belly.
She was starting to see things too. Mirages, heat illusions. At least, she hoped.
She'd checked the map before starting, the road was a straight shot to Danville where the crazy dude held court. She just had to keep going straight. Just keep going straight and then.
Kari sat up. Her thoughts were fogged and slow, but... she didn't need thoughts. She just needed to keep going. Up and down. that was all. Once she got on her bike it would be...
Easy.

The main difference between Xanatos and Luthor is that both passed a point where they needed to stop.
In realizing that he had passed the point, Xanatos somewhat begrudgingly* hit reverse, while Luthor decided to keep going to see what happened.
*Quoting from a certain episode to show the begrudging part...
Xanatos: Long time no see Goliath. I'm flattered you showed up just so I could use you as bait.
Coyote: This trough is filled with acid. In ten minutes, it's going to do a rather nasty job on that soil carving, not to mention your rugged good looks.
Xanatos: It's my first real stab at clichéd villainy. How am I doing?

Possibly Xanatos was trying to clone Goliath as part of a super-soldier project or something... but that doesn't explain the "super-genius" personality uploads.
Yeah. I see what people mean. She had it good with her husband, then sold out the humans who were keeping her husband and their entire clan safe, bringing down ruin upon it.
She gets immortality that can only be lost if she tries to kill one other person, or vice versa... and then she strikes first.

I think the big difference is that while Doof likes Perry the Platypus on some very fundamental level, he isn't obsessed with owning Perry the Platypus.
Doof's self-sabotaging tendencies involving Perry are limited to "so, in the dozens and dozens of times you've had him trapped and helpless, how come you never just shot him dead?"
Xanatos seems to be taking it to a WHOLE 'nother level.
It's not canon. Doesn't work with the timeline or something. But since I already wrote it, I figured I'd post it anyway to see if I can get 5 omake in a row.
You know I'm wondering how Artemis fairies are going to handle Gargoyle fairies. They're quite different after all (read as one is fairly like humans in attitude and capacity for good and evil and the other is a walking dumpster fire of assholes).
...You guys think that Demona knows that we beat her to establishing contact with the Xanadu Clan and therefore unplannedly foiled her attempts to sway them to her cause? Or maybe even that we *somehow* managed to warn David of her intesifying her attacks on him?
If so, we might wanna prepare for her counter-attack in the future, should she survive the attack on Xanatos´turf ( which is likely, according to the prophecy)
3. Xanatos apparently went to Lex Luthor levels of wasting time and money to defeat his nemesis, up to and including to creating a clone of said nemesis which not only betrayed him, but is also much more dangerous than the original. For shame, Xanay. I expected better of you.
Yeah, creating Thailog was one of the few times Xanatos fucked up - a fact he *Actually fully aknowledges*, outright saying that he created a monster with someone who combined Goliaths brute strength and Davids top-tier brain, while utterly lacking the more positive traits of either...which makes Thailog both their Evil Counterpart in a way.
So yeah, David Xanatos genuinely *likes/admires* the Manhattan Clan and more specifically, Goliath...which sometimes caused great strife for both.
Possibly Xanatos was trying to clone Goliath as part of a super-soldier project or something... but that doesn't explain the "super-genius" personality uploads.
First was the Steel Clan, gargoyle-looking robots that he made using information stolen from Cyberbiotics (a rival megacorporation controlled by Halcyon Renard, eventually his own father in law). Notoriously, he tricked the gargoyles into doing the theft for him.
Second was after the gargoyles turned against him, the first generation mutates. Essentially, he told Sevarius to cook him up a replacement and Sevarius developed a mutagenic agent that turned some homeless people and Xanatos' personal pilot (who happened to be Elisa's brother) into winged cat-people with electro-blasts. Like so:
The mutates weren't super-thrilled by all this and as soon as they discovered that Xanatos was involved, they turned against him and went to go live in the Labyrinth, an abandoned research facility in the NY sewers protecting the local homeless population.
Thailog... we don't really know what the long term plans for that project were.
And, I guess, there is the Pack. They started as a squad of highly talented mundane mercenaries, but after their first defeat Xanatos had his people augment them in various ways. Wolf was turned into a mutate, Hyena and Jackal became cyborgs and Dingo got himself some power armor.
Yeah. I see what people mean. She had it good with her husband, then sold out the humans who were keeping her husband and their entire clan safe, bringing down ruin upon it.
She gets immortality that can only be lost if she tries to kill one other person, or vice versa... and then she strikes first.
At one point, crazed future Demona used a time travel artifact to go back to the Middle Ages to try to get her younger self started early with the descent into darkness.
Younger saneish Demona was horrified by the revelation of what she was going to end up like and swore never to become crazy future Demona, after being shown the eventual annihilation of the clan at the hands of the vikings.
Unfortunately, it turns out that said time travel artifact only can create stable time loops. Xanatos used the time trip to get his fortune started by leaving a couple of gold coins to his future self. Crazy future Demona failed to change her past. Sane past Demona failed to change her future.
She is very much a tragic, self-defeating madwoman. A literal self-fulfilling prophecy, if you will.
