I dunno if i agree that all the scientists form the backbone of senior staff/future senior staff, while people like Monogram (who's not very effective but has been with us from near the beginning) and Dennis (Khan's number 2) play second fiddle. I like Roddy and Wendy as much as the next guy but I don't think they're in the running for "The round table" yet. also Russ, is Russ, he's very effective and we like him and all, but he doesn't actually work for us.
Russ is a government liaison who works for the government. With that said, he gets evil benefits? So he's also paid by us.

So you know who might be alive and is almost certainly traumatized if so? Gosalyn. Someone needs to put her on the list*.

*Someone should make a list of traumatized child-to-young-adults that we need to collect.

Edit: We will find them, and we will hug and help them. AND THERE IS NOTHING ANYONE CAN DO TO STOP US!

Who knows?

Maybe Vanessas utter refusal to inherit DEI in the event of his passing coupled with the partial breaking of the Masquerade this or next turn as well as the worsening political situation in the US will give Doof enough pause to muse over just what will happen with Doofania once he is no more.

That being said, if Mirage took emergency control, she´d probably make sure that any agreements and collabs with other polities like Xanatos remain in effect...for no other reason probably to keep things at least somewhat stable until the actual succession can be sorted out once and for all.

Yeah, Russ is essentially the US liasion with DEI whom they "loaned out" to us in order to keep an eye on the whackjob that literally calls himself "Evil" and officially seceeded from the Union in a time of great national turmoil.

That being said, I have a feeling that Russ´ loyalties are getting a bit muddled a moment because he is realizing, that for all of Doofs talk of "being an Evil, brutal dictator", the doc is actually a noble if troubled soul that might be the US´ best chance at keeping the peace.

Another question is which Gosalyn will be used for DoofQuest?

Welp, we heard vanessa, Guess we're giving DEI to Janna if we somehow croak.
I mean, Janna doesn't act much different when she isn't specifically motivated by revenge against Toffee and desire to find her friends.

Vanessa doesn't have anywhere near the same level of motivation.

I hope Dr. Granville is speaking for the narrative here; Vanessa is almost a nonentity in the quest because she doesn't step up to the fucking plate and push for anything.

...Honestly, I am just the slightest bit annoyed just how openly disinterested Vanessa is about Doofs business.
I suspect it is to a large extent a defense mechanism and teen rebellion thing, though it's very likely that Vanessa doesn't want to be specifically what Doof is (mad scientist and eccentric CEO)

Trust me, I totally get the desire to not be used by adults and "superiors" for their own desires and instead forge you own path, but there-in lies the problem:

*We got no idea just what Vanessa wants "her path" to be*

Doof would be the last person not to support his daughter on her way, if she actually *talked to him or anyone else* about it.

Right now, we are/he is simply playing it by ear and hoping to not fuck things up for Vanessa, which - while of course a big part of "child" reaing - is just frustrating.

Real talk, I know Doof troop is dead and gone, but like, in two quest years I kinda hope Max and Vanessa have found a decent path and can join Janna on some quest, showing her how much they've changed. It would be a good narrative beat.

Cut corners and building code violations piled up into total collapse, burying Alastair Krei in his office and leaving one of the largest companies on the West Coast rudderless.

I've got a sneaking suspicion that Yokai planned for the collapse. Let me explain.

He has access to Microbots. All he needed to do was chew through the infrastructure bit by bit to make it collapse. It appears to be a building code violation to most but it was intentional sabotage in secret.

Well, I started on it:

Elizabeth Peña is the name of Mirage's real life voice actress. Neat reference!

This is true, and this is clever, but notably, 'Peña' also means "rock" or "cliff" in Spanish. As in, a source of stability and strength, or a high point to oversee things from. Just the teensiest little subconscious connection, in-universe, for those who speak the language to be just a little more trusting of and open with her.

Also a sign that she's been watching way too much El Matador de Amor, Mirage, you weeb
