An Occult check? Ehh I'm quite confident there's nothing supernatural here anyway aside from the DVV-standard paradoxes.
... Are you only saying that because you failed? Is there no In-character, Out-of-character separation for you?

So... It looks like total gains this turn are:
Recruits:
Wasabi!
Marco!

DCs, Bonuses, and Maluses:
-5 Martial against Doof directly, and +5 Doof martial when he's acting directly on Quests
Janna's Martial +2! Janna Pet +2! Total; Janna Martial/combat effects: +4!
Agent Russ +2 to Combat in Spycycle
Dennis Loyalty Boost
625/Jumba Loyalty Boost
Enemy drug ring infiltration DC increased.

Options:
power armor unlocked!
Create Doppleganger Bodies.
Combine Doppleganger Bodies with AI.
Miscellaneous Drug Ring/Shego options (Bribe/Help/Betray).

Miscellaneous:
A single attempt to subvert your Normbots will no longer spread to every unit.
High Command has been revealed as a ruse, and the drug ring is alive and well!
Musical (Progress revealed: 91/200)
Khan Tech (Progress revealed: 64/200)
Agent Russ can fly on his Spycycle!
Interlude: Executive Summary (Visiting Zaibatsu with Mirage and Vanessa)
Interlude: Malf's Castle Moving (Moving the castle)
Interlude: Plan B (Monogram's Bumbling ineptitude at investigation, and Jumba's colossal Competence at genetics)
Interlude: Fredzilla meets Agent Unknown (Fred and Max: Buddy Cops in San Fran 'Sokyo)
Interlude: Speech of the Devil (Tom talks to Star's relatives)
Interlude: The First Day of Christmas (Our First Christmas Gift is Marco!)
Interlude: Absolutely No Jutsu (Tobe Learns Ninja Magic [hopefully?])

I wonder how those two relate to each other? Did Monogram discover that Jumba was a supervillain?

[ ] The Probabilitor-Inator, doubled!
Every success is a critical success. Every failure is a critical failure. Roll 1d20 for the random event roll, and flip a coin. If it's heads, the 1d20 corresponds to 80-100. If it's tails, the 1d20 corresponds to 1-20.

So, we want stuff we can easily succeed on but not easily crit on? Huh. Next turn is gonna be wild.

So overall not a bad turn? Some loyalty boosts, which is kinda annoying but not bad? Hints at a Jumba/Dennis Heroball there too. Some Martial and combat bonuses to Janna and Russ. We got a New Hero, advanced our AI Tree, and almost certainly advanced our Genetics. We got two new recruits and got some stuff to entice Shego into a second date with! We've also unlocked Malphy for recruiting next turn. Ideally we've also increased Tobe's occult; and opened up San Fransokyo. All in-all not a bad turn at all.

Information is priceless. Especially with a place as convoluted as BnL Wasteland. Plus we have Learning is the second highest stat our group has.

I like this plan, you don't need to be the one mining the gold to get rich...just be the one selling the shovels

Trust me, I plan on getting rich by both mining some gold ourselves and selling shovels to other interested parties as well, if I can help it.

Speaking of "getting rich as prospector/entrepeneur mix", here a quest I enjoy lots that unfortunately has gone on hold on account of the QM having to deal with a lot of RL atm

Curse Me Kilts Quest (DuckTales 2017)

Face the challenges of the DuckTales world as adventure capitalist Scrooge McDuck.

So, about that other idea I mentioned in my big analysis just now:

Thanks both to Richardson reinvigorating the Space Race in a way and *someone ruining our chances at pushing even more into the food sector by simply scarfing down a priceless Artifact Sandwich*, I am hoping now that nobody will buy out WynndCom this turn, so that we can grab them instead.

My plan is thus:

(- Buy out WynndCom)
- Comedize our Supply Lines
- Get a DEI space program started
- Install some mining facilities in near-Earth asteroids
- Construct a space elevator connecting our planetary holdings with our asteroid mine (these two building options should benefit from Roddys Construction expertise)
- Thanks to the elevator and our Comedized Supply Lines, turn the asteroid mine into a RSA (Rest and Service Area) for spacecraft of both other Kings and Earth´s mundane space agencies
- MEGA-PROFIT

Just imagine it: The ISS urgently needs some equipment, so they simply phone DEAR (Doofenshmirtz Evil Asteroid Resto) and BAM!

Five minutes later, they got what they need...don´t tell me that this won´t generate goodwill and revenue like crazy for us.

And even if this plan is too ambitious, we still could install a kind of Express Delivery Service connect remote King holdings with the main US continent, like Cape Suzette and the Zaibatsu or Xanatos´turfs in Alaska and the Upper East Coast, respectively.

So we definitely could benefit alot from DEI-style Express Deliveries either way.

And in what moment there do we have time to do Genetics or AI? Honestly, I don't think that going to space it's good, or feasible unless we drop AI or Genetics.

Why do people want to go to the library? The odds of any books or records surviving out here is almost 0

Alternatively, there's a library downtown that also looks to be mostly undamaged. That would probably be your best bet for information overall, but you'd be foregoing a good deal of potential salvage.
The way I see it, this has the best chance of getting general information to be better informed about stuff. At worst they get a better base camp.

You do realize that A) some of those steps will be Stewardship instead of Learning (therefore not threatening the action economy of that bracket) and B) this multi-step plan will take several turns, meaning that both Genetics and AI will still get their spot in the sunlight at most times?

Also, we are not "going into Space" at all (as in "deep enough to run the risk of tipping off factions like GalFed").

We are essentially setting up shop at the coastline, so that anyone brave/foolhardy enough to actually brave the ocean can stock up at our premises before hand (to use a figure of speech)

Well, the posting of this chapter means I've failed my deadline; I probably could have done more upon waking up a while back but, after staying up past 3am, the words started switching places on the screen and a certain paragraph seemed to consume my attention while also blocking off all attempts at typing it up despite knowing exactly what I wanted to happen, I figured that maybe I should take a break from writing.
(never before have I so empathised with Abridged-Kayaba)

.

As for the results, it's definitely disappointing that we failed so much here but the DoofOS thing is really just flavour test for Alan's poor roll so I don't really see the point in blaming lovemuffin for that.
.

And my votes go to:

I feel that we're definitely going to be using all possible xp next turn... it also means we might want to be careful with choosing actions that absolutely shouldn't be allowed to crit-fail

[] The BnL Wall-To-Wall Hyper-Mega-Mall
Currently we have three things that we could potentially specialise in Entertainment, Genetics and Food; this option seems most likely to be relevant to two of those things

edit: mega-mall isn't going to win so:

Are we going to see WALL-E after all?

Man, I almost want to spend a turn just, training everyone. Especially any unit without any 3-star skills.
Hopefully WALL-E is still alive (or at least intact) and not dead inside the AXIOM. And as much as I'd personally love to have certain heroes do certain personals, well... a select few tend to always be in high demand for Nat Actions.

You know, I just had a thought.... Remember how Motor Ed has a MAJOR crush on Shego?

I wonder if he would be a total Bro about this and wish Doof the best and make sure to stop by to talk about treating his former lady right or else....

Or if he would charge in and try to make some challenge to "Win her Back"

Guy is a lot smarter than he looks and acts and is surprisingly skilled at making anything with an engine.
If Motor Ed doesn't hate us, we might entertain recruiting him. With the Galfed ship giving us the tech for invisible, sublight-driven (which for Earth-based distances is effectively teleporting) vehicles, once we crack dimensional travel and throw that in too, we'll effectively have the perfect intrigue vehicle, and it'll be pretty much impossible to keep us out of somewhere through mundane security. With Motor Ed behind the wheel...

Where do you want to go?

[ ] The BnL Wall-To-Wall Hyper-Mega-Mall

For provisions, tech and knowledge.

Which inator do you want to use?

[ ] The Probabilitor-Inator

With just a bit of prep on our side (by focusing on NAs that we can reliably auto-succeed at), we can steamroll our next turn, while every one else will be subject to random chance.

That being said, I do hope that any Rival critfails will happen to the more antagonistic ones, like Doom, Toffee and DOR15 - while I want those Kings that are more benevolent (Shego, Xanatos, Von Flügel) to crit-success. After all, that way we (as in "us and anyone roughly on our side) would profit even more.

...I actually wouldn´t mind an ability to warn our "friends" among the Kings of the Probability-Inator, so that they can prepare accordingly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for my analysis of our turn, that´ll come in a separate post soon.
If we get the option to warn them, that'd be a very effective humblebrag. Imagine Xanatos opening his email:

"Dear Xanay,

I'm about to fuck with probability on a global scale. You should probably stick to low-effort stuff for a month or two. Thought you ought to know.

Yours, Heinz Doofenshmirtz"

It serves as a very effective reminder of just who the hell is Heinz Doofenshmirtz.

Again, I´d be up to warning both Shego and David to play it safe this turn with projects if we can manage it.

Any sucess they have can and will benefit us as well, once we get that dumb Alliance of the Semi-Sane going.

Is Doof even aware about his inator reach? Half of the time he activates bad inator, so I imagine that he is not fully aware about his devices functionality. Also we were told not to do inators that screw with dimensions. Does it mean that Toffee and Phobos remain unaffected?

Hey guys. I just came up with a crazy theory. What if the drug ring is being funded by Sycorax.

I mean think about it. Whoever was producing the drugs had to have a high-level knowledge of Biology and Sycorax is easily the one with the greatest biology focus.

They also have being studying supers before as shown here.

The precise biological mechanism behind the formation of natural superpowers is very poorly understood by medical science. While several studies have been performed, a great many of these were done when the science of genetics was still in its infancy, and further examinations into the topic have not yielded greater insight. Companies such as Sycorax and Gen-U-Tech have both published papers on the 'metahuman genome' to examine the natural mechanisms of some powers, though again, many of the ones that are more esoteric in nature remain poorly understood. While modern science can hypothesize a mechanism by which an individual may breathe fire, the mechanism by which one can copy another's powers cannot even be fathomed at present.

Finally they might have tested the drugs in Middleton to avoid an increase of crime in their area or competitors to threaten them.

We might see Sycorax hand out perfected forms of the drugs to the military eventually if they are behind the ring.

They're still the competition. Just because they might help with the more annoying threats later on doesn't mean they're not competing with us. That said, putting them in our debt is never a bad idea. If we can warn them, at all.
