What? If we had a serious thought that this was Merlin's Encantus, I would have been hardlining against any bids until turn three and slamming 30 on it.
I'm just trying to dismiss the idea that Horvath will be trying to get the Encantus, since he has presumably read the original.

Give 12 pts cant be spilt, there would be no reason to not spend all 12 on whichever item we favor most.
If the item we favor most is also the item a bunch of the other rich people at the auction favor most, we might be better off going after an item that everyone including us favors less so we have a better chance of getting anything at all.

[X] Plan Key And Ki

Why are some people being so pessimistic about other peoples bids being unbeatable next round?

Even if we win all three items this round I'm pretty confident 12 on a single item will cinch it for us.

I'd only worry next round if we split our bid and tried to get two things for cheap. Like two 8 bids or something.

It would actually be a fairly good thing if we were able to get 2 rare supernatural books, that key, the Best Sandwich, and save quite a bit of money.

We wouldn't have gotten all of what we wanted from the start, but I'm personally okay with that. We would have expanded our Occult abilities significantly, and unlocked the Ki paradigm, which we didn't even know existed.

Personally, I am interested in the cookbook because I harbour the hope that we'll be able to put Doof through training based on the book, which is after all an introductory text about becoming a ninja wizard. That may help with his low, low occult, possibly his intrigue or, ideally, both.

I know, I know it is not all that likely.

Still, something that potentially could help us in the national actions for the stats where we are weakest strikes me as too good to pass without making at least a token attempt to claim it.

-[X] Cookbook 5
-[X] Jo-Lan 5
-[X] Crystal Key 5

This isn't Divided Loyalties but 'Aquire B O O K'

Well, we have gotten what is essentially a confirmation over at the Discord of the Mad Mojo Cookbook being related to the stuff from the Maui Mallard videogame.

So add "possible Donald Duck connection" to the reasons that make this a potentially interesting purchase, since this may also be helpful with Dennis and Kung Fool.

That just makes me doubly-pissed off, because I managed to find the (profoundly obscure) game, but I couldn't find the blasted cookbook anywhere! And I trawled the internet for hours until eventually I just gave up. The QM squad is dragging up these things from the very depths of Internet Hell.

Curse you, @Made in Heaven the Quest Master!

Edit: seriously, even with almost-confirmation to narrow down the search I still can't FIND anything about it. Did one of you actually PLAY through the entire thing just to find that hidden piece of lore?

There is no cookbook in that game afaik.

There is, however, an evil witch doctor who lives at the Mojo mansion, whose plan involves extracting the Mojo power out of an idol, and we have Donald Maui Mallard becoming a ninja to fight him in the Ninja Training Grounds apparently located in the same island as the aforementioned mansion.

I would've voted for Key and Ki if it put 5 points on the scrolls, but alas.

All I did was share a song from the game I liked. Take that as confirmation at your own discretion.

Surprised you guys aren't throwing more money around to guarantee you get an item. 4 is the minimum, and the top vote was 5 in three.

First auction mini game we really don't have a firm grasp on numbers and what others are going to throw around.

And while loosing out on the Key or Ki would suck that means we have more money to throw at the Talismans and book.

aim cheapeish here and if that mean we can splurge on the third round so be it.

Very well. My apologies.
I'm pulling your leg, dude! The Mad Mojo Cookbook is definitely based on Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow, the game in which Donald Duck was a sharpshooter with elemental bug bullets who could use mojo power to transform into a magic ninja.

Mojo magic was a minor plot element in my own campaign. The actual "cookbook" you're seeing on auction previously made a cameo in C-Moon's campaign.

I'm going with this plan simply because I'm curious as to what else might be hidden within the Cookbook as well as those scrolls. Also leaves us some spending money just in case we want more then the Encantus or any of the mystery items.
