I did note them Phy gave us no choice tho =c

And while that was the case a bunch of hundred of years ago, the half-exile situation is bound to have changed since. But yeah, the Trelli have become huge assholes, actual genuine the bad guys that RPGs make as clear targets. It's like the gods of the Xoh have taken hold of them!

oh shit
Choxosyn(Khorne) must be having a field day. ;)

So you were comparing having your family held at knifepoint to having a better paid job and better life for your family....

Seriously? What is with people and trying to vilify our civilisation?

I'm making comparison of improved quality of life and subtle understanding of your families are waiting for your return.

Not everything is overt and explicit.

Mate that's a bit melodramatic, and that's coming from me.
holocaust
ˈhɒləkɔːst/
noun
1.
destruction or slaughter on a mass scale, especially caused by fire or nuclear war.
"a nuclear holocaust"
synonyms: cataclysm, disaster, catastrophe, destruction, devastation, demolition, annihilation, ravaging; More

So what part of 'wiping our entire tribes and selling them into slavery' is against that definition.
Hell, even the enslaving them part fits the more historical Holocausts. Furthermore they are turning to piracy, we've seen it. They are commiting atrocities and horrible acts, enough so that the King himself is going 'oh shit this is bad!', something only the Xoh have managed to do before.

Think about that. In one turn the Trelli have gone from 'kind of dickish traders' to 'Jesus Christ what? How are they almost as bad as the Xoh?' levels.

There is a comparison to be made between improved quality of life and such, but what the Trelli are doing is keeping the family of mercenaries and saying that if they stop working for the Trelli, their families will pay for it in some fashion. I'm not sure if that means they'll be enslaved or killed, but regardless that seems like a dickish thing to do.

It looks like we're taking the biggest risk in an attempt to hold the Trelli off.

We'll probably need to double main boats next turn.

it's the narrative curse: As soon as you destroy one bad guy another either evolves from a previously innocuous background character or emerges from off the stage.
It's almost like rather than targets in the form of evildoers presenting themselves to us, we're looking for targets who are just basically doing what they've always done and using their cultural differences to consider them an acceptable target.

Bizarre.

Like, I suppose we'll have to conquer everybody that buys slaves after this because if they continue to provide a demand somebody is going to look to be their supplier.

A) Again, how will the RB be useful against pirates?
By killing them when they board? Or even before they do?
B) I don't think they will die as long as we support the TP sometimes.
Per WoAN the climate may kill them in the first three turns. Better hope we have plenty of actions free...
C) Damaging in any sense beyond the loss of RB?
And loss of the trading post, to snow or wolves or the locals or maybe even nomads.

Maybe I'll add the approval vote, since I guess that loss of two subordinates isn't actually *larger* than having the Trelli do the same. OTOH, it may be even more likely.
E2: Also, personally, while I won't hate the ETP should it win it's also just a boring option.
Boring is good. I'd love a boring outcome to the Trelli situation. You want exciting, let's do multiple megaprojects simultaneously during a Golden Age :).

Ugh. I'm actually not voting for North, because I think it's just as likely to kill the Red Banner as the Trelli are, and it will definitely tie them up right when we need them to fight pirates. The only reasonably non-suicidal options I can see are East or mercs (or nothing) and those are way behind.

@gutza1 Sorry to be disunited and all, but I actually think North may be even more damaging than West.
? Why would we use the red banner to fight pirates? It'd be like sending army rangers to garrison naval ships. It'd work, but it's not where they are best assigned.

I mean... we're just those ents
While true, consider what the ents did in LoTR. Badasses are they.

/screams internally/
There, there. This can be our final form! (Thanks @SpeckofStardust for finding this)

I mean what's the problem with being a final hidden boss when we can look this awesome? (completely ignoring the inevitability of a plucky hero kicking our ass for shinnies)

[X] [Exp] Found Trelli Trade Post, East
[X] [Diplo] Tie everything further together (Main New Trails)
[X] [Int] Build palace (Extra megaproject action)

I'm pretty sure there's a reason our king is going nuts over the Trelli now and not earlier despite constant contact, and I'm pretty sure that has to do with the change into militarism, enactments of holocausts and piracy.
I'm pretty sure that the only reason this stuff wasn't an issue earlier is that we weren't trading nearly as heavily before the climate went wonky as hell. Like, even now the Trelli are taking a lot of their slaves from the Med.

If we go by past practices then sailors are usually not armored with metallic armor, because they will be too heavy to fight effectively on a ship. Drowning is also a huge factor.

So leather and cloth armor are looking up, buy the stock quickly. :3

Guys, haven't we learned from the mining collapse?

The Trelli are digging too greedily, and too deep.

Just sit back and watch. Don't draw their attention, just get popcorn.

Ehh, feck it. Add in a little thing in expansion.

[X] [Exp] Found Trelli Trade Post, West
[X] [Exp] Found Trelli Trade Post, East
[X] [Diplo] Need a bigger boat (Main More Boats)
[X] [Int] Party! (Main Improve Festival)

Approval voting Ho! And I have reasons. *wiggles eyebrows*
