On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

You know what would lower jorri's running costs further?

RUNE WAGONS

We already gave Rune Wagons. We can however have Snorri go even further beyond.

I mentioned earlier how Snorri's alchemy experiments would probably lead to super fuel which combined with his heat to Runic energy research would basically create a Runic engine.

That right we can have Snorri create tanks and metal boxes that carry stuff.

Or Rune Trains. Can Snorri commission the Engineer's Guild to build and experiment with machines that can make use of the Rune of Torsion?
No, but he can hire an engineer to make him a prototype of something with the ultimate objective being a self propelled vehicle powered by the rune of torsion.
Snorri demonstrates the rune in action, and the engineer makes something with it.

If Snorri then teaches the rune of torsion at khazagar, there will be more runesmiths who the engineers can commission for their own experiments, as that is a much lower barrier than asking a Runelord.

And the problem with trains is rails. They would need kindly involvement to fund. I don't see that as a problem in the long run, given how good trains are for logistics, but a non rail dependent vehicle is a better way to spread the concept because of lower start up costs.

When I proposed the rune of torsion I said it spun slowly. Like really really slowly. As in it would need an enormous box of gears to get up to a useful speed. Spoiler alert its tied to the momentum of the world turning. However long a day is on warhammer world, thats one spin.

Rune of Inexorable Torsion

When applied to an axle said axle will spin in its housing very, very slowly. Significantly No dwarf has yet figured out a way short of destroying the rune to get it to STOP spinning. Hundreds of gears are required to bring the spinning up to a useful speed but it doesn't seem to measurably reduce the force with which it spins. That being said there is a clear upper limit on the amount of work this rune can be made to do at once so you can't, for example, make it run every drop hammer in Karaz-a-Karak. If the stresses exceed the tolerance of the materials the axle or any of the linkages are made of they will snap but the part with the rune still on it, if intact enough, will blithely spin on. It was created for a master potter who had lost his legs in an accident and commissioned a potter's wheel that would spin itself. Safely starting up the wheel requires 18 gear changes and the device is the size of a walk in closet due to all the cogs inside but the master potter was reportedly very satisfied.

I feel like first Dawi Engineers need to create trains before we start thinking about those. Hey, maybe with Jorri's path thing, they get an idea for an even more effective, faster and safer way to travel by using the train system, especially when it will let transport materials on a larger scale.

I find myself idly wondering what the other brotherhood members do with their Adamant supplies, seeing as they have their own smelters. Sure, probably build up a lot like us, but bound to have made some things using it.

-- Grimgal, length 35m by 483 A.P.
— Training with Hysh continues. Menlinwen is committed to giving Grimgal as comprehensive an education as she can, but apparently it's become increasingly clear to the Elven mage that they are more proficient in Illumination than anything else. By the century's end Menlinwen will begin teaching her Chamon.
Small question, is it safe for a Dragon to wield multiple winds?

At least some examples of them are altered by magic (Ice Dragons, Carmine Dragons, etc.) so they couldn't use another Wind without creating Dhar.

Shard Wyrms might not be that predisposed to one Wind, but they can presumably still be infused with it through their own use.

[X] [Light] Rune of Heat Vision

Putting my money where my mouth is. Or my vote.

Probably worth less than money, but hey.

[X] [Light] Rune of Heat Vision

Was Brynna trying to hint that there were more works of the Ancestors in Karak Zorn that Snorri could come along and pilfer reclaim? Because it would be hilarious if Snorri keeps turning up in different holds and yoinking priceless artifacts that none of them knew they even had.
