On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

I'm tempted to vote to refuse simply because of the likes on every single Claim the Title vote.

Besides, refusing would probably be another "judgment withheld pending results" situation. The Gods would wait and see what we do.

Would becoming the heir of Thungni even be the best thing for the Karaz Ankor?
A question which doesn't really address what the title of Heir is. It is entirely neutral, as all titles are at their core. It's an amplifier - nothing more, nothing less. People Human and Dawi and otherwise have (or in canon, will) ruined loftier titles and done credit to worse ones.

The question isn't "Is taking the title going to be better or worse?" The question is "Will Snorri do more good than evil with the title mantling his shoulders?"

And frankly, aside from flaws that are in no way unique to him (or even particularly rare in almost all cases) Snorri's service record leads me to believe the answer to the latter is "It is more likely in his hands than most".

[X] Claim the Title of Heir: [Cost: ???] Gain title: Heir of Thungni, ??? You claim a position that has remained in doubt since Durin died. By Thungni's word, the hammer you would now wield confirms that you are His Heir. Elevating your authority to that of the Ancestor's eldest children, living or dead. You would not, could not be a tyrant of course, but still.

The main point (for me) of quests is to see what changes we can have on the setting, this one is a doozie so grab it with both hands.

P S Vragni sucks on uncooked Troll feet

The thing is they are dead, what matters now is not what Thungi thinks, but if we want the power and care to shoulder the responsibility that comes with it. I am inclined to think that 'Skyrim dungeon' is a bad system for making any kind of political decision regardless of if we do well or poorly.

[X] Refuse the Title of Heir: [Cost: Nothing] Gain ???. You will take up this hammer, you will use it, but you are your own Dwarf with your own goals. The burden of carrying Thungni's Will, of being His Heir, is one you choose not to carry. Someone or no one can claim it for all you care, but it will not be you.
Don't think there's a right or wrong answer, really, but forging our own path instead of following in Thungni's shadow (noble a task as that is) just gels more with me. Also I'd feel sort of cheap using the clout of claiming the position of Thungni's heir to ram our decisions down our detractor's throats, funny as Vragni's face would be. Also also we just got that new AP and knocked off so much research progress, and I don't want to have to waste it on doing a bunch of political finagling or whatever.

You misunderstood the point of my comment.

I wasn't focused on the title by itself, but how Snorri would act after taking it up.

I believe it would limit a lot of Snorri's radical moves, which are some of his best contributions to the Karaz Ankor.

Ultimately my vote has to be driven by "what I think would be fun to play and read in a quest". I think this would be fun to play and read in a quest!

Whether or not it's the best thing for the fictional people of fictional Karaz Ankor doesn't weigh as high.

Honestly, the statements of this being a burden to bear as the one who completed the challenge are what swayed me. We did it, and there are expectations and responsibilities that come with that.
