Late on some of these, it's been busy.
Oh, clearly we need to just move to the 'ol reliable, right?
I actually think we should fix this AND increase relations with Mist by giving Hana a summoning scroll (that we found).
Here is my calculus there:
1) There is a certain threshold of #SummoningScrolls above which everyone else will just decide to take a chance on kicking Leaf's shit in.
2)Mist relations could use some improving.
3)Above almost all individuals save maybe Ami, Hana has probably the most vested interest in Leaf remaining very safe and prosperous— we live there.
4) A happy Hana allows for more wiggle room for Ren than not. On paper, Ren is The Boss(TM) and can order Hana to do anything. In practice, people and loyalties don't work like that. More grease for the wheels is always, always good on the leadership side, especially if its freely given by a third party.
5) This contributes to a variety of factors that benefit Operation Keep Hazou Out Of My Fucking Hair.
6) It allows for some quick trade + communication that supersedes ANBU Prime delivery speeds. Pretty important for allied parties.
If the mist/leaf Alliance is seen as strong and a threat, that only prompts external actions slightly slower than leaf being seen as getting stronger and being allies with mist. Plus, since Leaf is pretty precarious right now (see, recent Rock efforts, bi-monthly Kaiju), leaf getting a little stronger probably solidifies our position more than shakes it.
That said, for me the personal calculus is against Akane getting the scroll, so arguments have to overcome my high barrier of "this makes Akane more relevant, gets her more screentime, makes her happy in character, and paired with FOOM and decent reserves puts her on track to being the scariest person in the world. Which I like". Hana can be interesting, but ClanHead!Hazou, Boyfriend!Hazou, and Halberdier all feel like they'd need a very good argument to give Hana the scroll (on top of the decent argument you already made, since giving an enemy village a scroll is a pretty hard argument to sell. Ami got in noticeable political trouble over that in a less ambiguous circumstance).
Nice

It's a little disturbing that I seem to be the only one here who has a grasp on The Ami. She is rational, hyper-capable, and just operates on a different goalset. Any plan which involves her and doesn't involve demonstrating a deeper understanding of her, something she couldn't have possibly deduced from available information, or salt and coldshort iron is a waste of everybody's time.
It's been mentioned before, but her analysis of what was happening during the soup incident was neither of Hazou playing a game and giving it up, or even a super accurate reflection of events. It was her trying and failing to deal with Mari while completely discounting a CQC summoner chunin sealmaster in close quarters in his house, which just dumb. And claiming "she considered it but dismissed it so it didn't even get written up" is both unproductively paranoid and does a discredit to the QMs writing of an interesting flawed character.
(I preface the next paragraph with the useless knowledge that I have been awake too long and as such what I intend to say may come out as more rude than intended, but I'll stand by my sentiment when I wake up next, whenever that is.)
Ami is very competent. For sure. And the thread does not have a perfect grasp on her. I certainly don't. But neither do you. And I'm aware of your stance that you are cursed and as such that you shouldn't ever vote or construct plans, and I'm not aware if it is just being a bit related to your not wanting to vote, or an actual logical fallacy. But, I personally do not appreciate you condescending to the hivemind's voting habits when you yourself do not participate at all. That seems rude, and not helpful.
I offered a deal about precommiting votes to your causes, and I believe you blew it off. If you don't want to actually take actions, vote, or make plans, that's fine, but please do not insult those of us actually willing to do so, since the thread members that consistently Make The Plans and Do The Things are, (as well as the amazing QMs) the ones who actually keep this running. So please. Actually vote and participate, and make plans occasionally if you don't like any winning ones, or please stop talking about other people's poor plans. Voting is not a high standard here, and I personally will take your opinions much more seriously if you're an active participant, rather than someone who just says "I told you so" retroactively on some issues out of a swath of predictions.
My apologies for the rant.
The issue isn't the response we'd get (I expect we would get the former, with a pinch of "In addition, <the latter>"), the issue is that internally the Dogs will look down upon us for having asked the question when it should be really fucking obvious that we aren't that trusted yet (i.e., we should know that we aren't that trusted yet), therefore closing doors on us due to us being actually that stupid.
I think signaling interest in knowledge while admitting we know it's valuable is fine? Like, wanting to know how much your dream house costs when you're saving up and moderately broke just gives you an estimate on how much work to need to do to be able to get it. People don't think you're stupid for expressing eventual interest in a thing that most people think is valuable, but not everyone would be necessarily willing to invest the capital to buy, y'know?
Hopefully that metaphor makes sense, but if it doesn't: asking about it as a possibility and making clear we appreciate that it's a big deal seems fairly harmless, and we'd be remiss in our duty of care not to at least try.
