On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

When we eventually get to forging troll slaying, Master Rune of Smiting and Rune of Fire seem pretty much mandatory. My choice for the third would be a Rune of Might.
Though the Rune of parrying would be acceptable to me (as @EVA-Saiyajin said).

It should be a Hammer (accidentally tearing a troll's stomach would be dangerous to the weilder).
And the name would be "Troll hammer", not creative, but perfectly functional.
Combine that with our trait of our works causing fear in trollkind.

It's a weapon so good at hammering trolls, that when the engineer invented the Torpedo drakegun, thousands of years in the future, they named them after this Hammer.

He's asking for an axe.

Not sure if Rune of Parrying really works here. Yeah, in gameplay/tabletop terms it seems to fit in well (clumsy troll flailing vs skilled Dwarf weapon-wielding and boosting weaponskill IIRC), but the fluff says it works by moving the weapon to block incoming attacks.

Which doesn't seem like what you'd want to be doing against Trolls. At least vs ones with weapons being swung rather than trying to grab you. Hmm, might be better suited than I thought.

@BungieONI

You know what, I am starting to like your hammer idea if possible. Anything that can cut down on AP.
Thank you! I did spend some time thinking about how it might effect our AP, and I do know that if we make it and it does affect our AP I don't want it to give us more. What it does I'd leave up to soulcake but just adding more actions to our pool is both unwieldy and actually not that effective when it comes down to it compared to other possibilities.

Putting the Troll Heart which should be monstrously large given the size of a Troll into a hammer doesn't seem to fit for me.

I'd rather go for Master Rune of Healing for the hold which should limit casualties greatly minimizing deaths and skill loss, heals injuries ensuring better productivity, and better population growth if dwarves can have children slightly safer.

The second one would instead of a hammer or an anvil, actually use the heart in a forge given fire and vitality are often linked. You could even make a dedicated golem forge to specialize it which can kind of fit into the overall Santa character theme of having subordinates.

There's also a narrative bit to taking the heart of someone where a lot of Snorri's internal monologue was about him taking the lives of children and using it to give life to so many in return.

The heart isn't gonna survive as it is when you use it for a rune, its going to be used up as a reagent no matter what you do.

What sort of sicko just leaves a beating heart as is? Chaos, that's who.

@EVA-Saiyajin anyway the reason the Master Rune of Currents occurred to me as a good choice is because of its +Cleaving which can lead to more cut off limbs which can then be cauterized by the Rune of Fire on top of the speed and supernatural combat awareness it provides. Trolls are so stupid they should have many openings and the rune of Currents would slam them in that regard extremely well. Plus the extra difficulties that are made apparent in trying to hit an already small and angry thing that is now moving very very fast.

Oh speaking of the Rune list, do you guys want me to add a description to each rune or combo and say what runes are part of that combo? If its a thing you guys refer to frequently I feel like that'd be useful for you. That list as is, may not be enough but I wasn't sure how many times yall would look at it.

Please! :D I go and check it out pretty frequently for ideas and I can't remember what some stuff like the Master Rune of Smiting does.

I'd actually like more of a general list of wat reagents we would have to wait for if we want to use some of the more relatively common Master Runes. I mean we know them. We should have an idea what reagents would take time to get right?

This too is also a solid idea that's good for future planning, something we're going to need a lot of info for.

I mean we arent ordering anything this turn which might be a waste depending on how that mechanic works. We can order only one thing at a time right? So does that mean a turn without am order is a waste?

Do orders cost Favour as a reference to the cost of the stuff now? Or does our Gromril mine mean any monetary cost is just a 'yes'?

[X] Plan Set up Workshop and prep for future

so now that we are finishing the Workshop, would it not be a good idea to hire some guards to help defend it and help Snorri when he goes to do things in the world?

I'm like 99% sure that if we decide to go somewhere and don't hide that we are that a good like third of the young beardlings and plaitlings and fullbeards are gonna attempt to follow him.
