On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

[X] Rear: None
[X] Right: 200 Miners, 100 Longbeards and 80 quarrelers.

Just trust Snorri to handle the rest in the rear along with who's there already.
Probably the best call.

After this the Holds army will be run ragged by Longbeards whos grumbles will pierce the heavens. And the useless beardlings skulls.
If there was any better call for Defense In Depth I cant think of one. This army isnt gonna last what's to come in the North battling on the open field. Yeesh!

Still hoping that Krampus makes a nice enough reagent for a Karak wide Combo or Daemonward runeset.

It's Folly I say! Folly! Bah!

We should be defending ourselves behind good and sturdy Walls. Not mucking around in the snow! *makes vigorous insulting motions at the snow*

E: As a suggestion @soulcake a more smooth bellcurve might be to use 2d50+[Whatever bonuses apply]. Makes Crits rarer, since crit fail would be snake eyes/double ones and natural crit would be double fifties and our average is around 51. That way Penalties or Bonuses being applied mean more as well.

Well, that's assuming Golden Age Runelords can make something of a creature so corrupted.

A dwarf quest? A dwarf Runelord quest? A dwarf Golden Age, pre-decline Runelord Quest? A well-written, worldbuilding-plentiful, excellently-characterized Golden Age Dwarf Runelord Quest?

Oh my ancestors I'm both so glad I found this and so sad I didn't find it sooner.

Tactical situation...hrm. I'd say send about a third of the reserve to the rear and the rest to the buckling front, but I'm no tactician.

I was gonna ask why you guys were voting like this but then I realized I forgot to ask for plan votes.

Thats my bad.

@BungieONI @ConfusedCanuck @IronFist please make your votes by plan. sorry for the inconvenience.
No biggie!

[X] Plan Let Snorri Carry
-[X] Rear: None
-[X] Right: 200 Miners, 100 Longbeards, 80 Quarrelers

I figure this is best for a couple of reasons. One the Right flank is actually falling right now so it needs a hefty amount of support so wounded and the tired can retreat to recuperate. Two, it needs to be dealt with quickly so smack it hard. And three, is that Snorri isn't completely alone in the rear but the forces we have on hand like the Miners are not as well suited to the kind of Lord on Lord fight going on right now and Snorri is capable of handling himself right now. So just trust him to handle it since the Rear is holding right now.

He's enough of a troll* to be fine using stuff from him. Just think of it as a reward for helping me work out the kinks in the battle system. >.> Be a bit of a bad taste in my mouth to leave you hanging like that. You'll get something CAN get something in terms of reagents from him,

EDITED: Stuff

Hmm, I dunno. I'd prefer if it were from genuine work and ability, like us being a handy dwarf with the really weird stuff as opposed to a handout. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but another part of me likes genuinely earned loot and rewards.

[X] Plan Let Snorri Carry

On another matter, we're going to have to really push for more training/better rune-equipment for the army. Becuase if they can get they're behinds handed to them this hard by a bunch of trolls simply because of a couple of bad rolls, they aren't going to survive the coming years.

after we are done with this, all actions to making a golem army, these losses of dawi lives are UNACCEPTABLE!

Thats more my fault for bungling the battle dice. Know that narratively speaking, the Greedy One has been selecting the biggest baddest trolls he can find for his army of thralls. The dwarfs aren't to blame here, just my dice and system :^(

Yeah, this is definitely something I've been thinking about as I've been writing. In the future I may have to tweak the roll modifiers or use smaller dice. This is my first time doing battle turns and it's easy to see I think(I foolishly believed I would have a bit more time to work em out)

Anywho, narratively I don't think its beyond the pale to imagine these trolls are a cut above the rest in terms of strength, speed and toughness and were only further buffed by The Greedy One.

If you're willing to stick with me through this thanks a bunch, Im definitely gonna have to reconsider battles in the future.
I like the way it's handled in Divided Loyalties: A good/bad roll doesn't mean they do well/badly in absolute terms, it just means they well/badly. A bloodthirster charging skavenslaves will mulch them. If they roll really well, and he does really poorly, he'll do it rather slowly (maybe he gets caught up in killing one really thoroughly?). Of course, in something as loopsided as that, there probably wouldn't be a roll at all.

The world is also shaped by the rolls (kinda like what you mentioned with this being buffed trolls). So in the example above, if it was something like 1v100, then it turns out they had an Eshin assassin all along who hid among the slaves and now pulled off a sneak attack.

If you're aware of it anydice is useful for dice probability calculations and getting a feel ahead of time for how groups of dice might turn out.
