We won't avoid treason for you. If you get caught committing treason, we will write Hazō's execution.

What I meant was that they'd have a discussion about it and Mari (and maybe others) would call him an idiot and explain why it's treasonous.

Like they did with the Snake scroll, and Nara did about sending Ami a letter.

That was the QMs, through in-character events, helping us avoid accidental treason. I don't mean you'd alter the plan if we determine to do something treasonous without sufficient qualifiers and failsafes to ask others for their opinions/assistance.

Your link works fine for me.

Yeah, the problem is with me and @eaglejarl.

@eaglejarl

We've worked out on discord that the link's fine and we're broken. Other people are having no problems watching it, even though you and I are. It also works for me on mobile.

Weird song, by the way.

The whole musical's like that. It's a good one, though.

[X] Action Plan: Clanless Interactions
Timeline: January 6.
  • Prepare for and schedule meetings:
    • Tomorrow: Ino (lunch), Chouza (afternoon), Asuma (dinner).
    • Later this week: Shino, Minami, Keiko (on the Seventh Path), Nakano and co..
  • Privately apologize to Akane for any emotional weirdness.
    • Zabuza hit us with KI before the BotG, and things are pretty fucking nuts ATM.
  • Early Morning: Spar with Lee!
    • Akane can come along.
    • Ami-style training: You spar in a wide open training field, but can only move on top of a few dozen logs placed upright in it. First to touch the ground loses. Try a variety of strategies: don't move and chakra adhere to a single log, destroy the logs, race between them like a monkey, etc..
    • If they wish, tell them about Gai's final moments from the debriefing we read. They have a right to know.
  • Work on acquiring operatives with Noburi and Akane.
    • Consider turning mission-desk ninja (Ito Ino?) into operatives.
    • Look over Jiraiya's blackmail/black market notes. Is there anything work looking into?
  • Scribe Kagome's seals in our spare time, with the intent of selling them off to the Tower to fund our mortgage/pay off Hagoromo's debts.
    • Work out whatever seals get us the most ryo for our time.
  • Light afterdinner thoughts:
    • Should we continue working with the Kuronuma Group?
      • Sell them ice/salt.
      • Promise help against the Akasugi for assistance.

Can i strongly propose to met Minori?
We have enough reasons IC:
-As a survivor of the BotG she's an important political figure
- It's one of the few people that can give a faithful and complete story of what happened without punching us through a wall
- she also saw the last moment of Jiraiya
-She is a clanless Jonin

Aside from the reason Hazou could have IC, we know she's traumatized, powerful and receptive to uplift, much like AMI is "Helping" their S-rank weapons of Mass destruction, we can talk to her and slowly but surely bring her into the clan, considering she's one of the few people we can sway with an idealistic argument.

[X] Action Plan: Clanless Interactions

I agree with Lord Marshall. I suspect Mari doesn't know anything about Minori - including that she exists. We do, so we have reason to talk with her.

"I suspect there's only a couple dozen jōnin left in Leaf, regardless," Mari said. "And they are probably all clan ninja. Being chosen to go to the Exams was a major win, even just for people who would be standing guard. Jiraiya had to carefully balance who he brought so as not to offend any of the clans. He ended up bringing a notable number of clanless jōnin and senior chūnin to Mist, and all of them died except Kurenai and Kazusa. Anko is still around, so we could talk to her, but she is politically problematic and disrespectful of authority."
???

I've heard yours and Lord Marshal's concerns regarding contacting Minori, will think on it.

[X] Action Plan: Clanless Interactions

We should go talk to Minori Kazusa. If nothing else, it's something we can fill it our schedule and reasonably expect to be able to do in a short timeframe.

and reasonably expect to be able to do in a short timeframe
We do? I mean, there's a reason I didn't have inviting Nakano and co. over today (tomorrow?); we aren't sure if they'd be able to attend. Though that was lunch...

Anyway, changes made. I've adding a talk with Minori later this week, and made the Yakuza discussion include possibilities of coordinating with Leaf and Mist Yakuza.

This reads like we're having a meeting on the second path. Is there some other interpretation I'm missing? If not, how are we accomplishing that?

Privately apologize to Akane for any emotional weirdness.
  • Zabuza hit us with KI before the BotG, and things are pretty fucking nuts ATM.

What is this supposed to accomplish? Is this in response to Hazou's maybe-almost-not-sure showing an embarasing emotional reaction to Akane? If so, (1) I really don't think that merits a private discussion and an apology, and (2) that kind of deflection is unhealthy to say the least.

Scribe Kagome's seals in our spare time, with the intent of selling them off to the Tower to fund our mortgage/pay off Hagoromo's debts.
  • Work out whatever seals get us the most ryo for our time.

I like spending time directly working toward buying out the Hagoromo debt, but how certain are we that scribing seals is the highest ROI available to those ends? IIRC someone posted some ideas about getting other Asuma-backing clans to share the load. I personally like that approach as it has the added benefit for the Hagoromo to no longer be beholden to a single clan, which seems like it would buy us some goodwill and pull them further into our camp.

I'm "meh" on sparring with Lee, but I do think the "Ami-style" training there is a bit weak.

I feel like this plan flubs on doing anything particularly proactive besides scheduling meetings. Initiative is critically important right now.

Point, I'll change it.

*thinking to self* ...is he talking about the Skywalker trade...nonono, that was for favors...

Let me get back to you on that one. I'm for the idea but need a bit more detail on specifics so I can add it in.

Yeah I'm in complete agreement with this sentiment
Would you like me to try talking to Minori or Nakano and his friends? Like, I dunno what you want me to do: our planned meetings with the clan heads got mostly nixed at the end of the update, since eaglejarl said that we might not be able to meet with them on such short notice. I'm not sure we can find and talk to the clanless-nin I indicated above, either. If you think it's a good idea then say that so I'm not left guessing.

If you want to cut that sure.

Please do something as well. Don't get the ball moving, move the ball.

What are we apologizing to Akane for?
"Absolutely, justHazō," his ex-girlfriend said, with that brilliant smile that still tugged at his heart.

It was a good thing that the Iron Nerve could flawlessly show only the emotion that you chose to show. At least, if you were fast enough to use it before the sadness and regret showed; from Akane's expression, Hazō wasn't sure he had been.
For this, is my guess?

Alright, I'll delete it.

Please let me know if you have ideas on what, specifically, you want me to do. At this point I'm about to just throw in the towel and tell Hazou to find and chill with Nakano and his buddies.

One thing I would suggest if we don't have anything else we can immediately reach for would be to run interference against the Hyuuga. Do things with minimal time and effort on our part that causes them to have to spend disproportionately more resources putting out fires. With Naruto's help we have all sorts of possibilities open to us.

So, like help Mari do the stuff she's been doing, like spreading rumours?

I actually have ideas for this --will post later--but you must grab them over for dinner at our house for it.

I wonder if we could bargain with the Sarutobi for one of the summon scrolls that's up for grabs in exchange for our support for Asuma getting the hat?

We'd effectively be bluffing, and they might know it, but they might also feel obliged to reward their supporters somehow to keep them happy even if we'd support them for the hat without any reward.

Edit:
The three viable options for adoptions I see are Lee, Anko, and going looking for a good technique hacker. Whoever we do adopt, I'm in favor of getting the other two options onboard some other way.

I bet Anko could be lured with the promise of doing our best in the political shuffle to get her the Snake summon scroll.

Also, we should think about talking to not-Hiashi clans about putting together financial resources to buy out the loans of the Hagoromo to get their vote. It's a lot of money for any one clan, but together we can make it work.

We could, but given our political situation there's no way in hell they wouldn't know we were bluffing. Like, if Hiashi gets the Hat we are pretty fucked. Maybe not so badly that Jiraiya's predictions would come true, but we'd be in a bad spot.

And given the discussion we had I'd be imagining that Asuma'd give at least one scroll to ISC and the other to one of the swing votes like Aburame, if they voted for him. Not to us.

Good point, although I'm not sure if a scroll would be enough to swing any of the votes. They're generally locked in because of reasons a scroll wouldn't change or truly committed to Hiashi.

What are your thoughts on organizing a bailout for the Hagoromo's loans among the not-Hiashi clans? We could bring it up in meetings while we start formalizing the coalition to get Asuma elected. And mention the opportunity to lock in Tsunade's vote by promising medical education funding.

Could we add a snippet about looking into chakra metal? Depending on its mechanics there are so many cool things we could do with it.
