Over the decades since the incursion the Karaz Ankor, nai the world, heals from the terrible wounds of Chaos. The number of births shows little of stopping, families introducing their third or perhaps even fourth child is a common occurrence. It will be a long while before your people can fill the holds to the levels they were before, the north especially, but it will get done eventually.

After all, what use was grand towering galleries if there weren't enough dwarfs to fill them?
Oooooof.

God that sentiment is going to hurt if we see the later doom of the dwarven race and cannot avert it. It's also going to suck if we walk amongst the halls reclaimed and see how empty they are amongst the lesser Northern Holds.

So it is to no surprise, but great joy regardless, that on the first day of the year 123 A.P., Clan Ironarm announces that the future queen of the hold, Kaggra Ironarm Neé Redaxe, has given birth to a fine and healthy young boy. Already the elders of the Clan speak of the strength of his arm and the vigour he displays, only days after tasting his first spoonful of Stonesoup in Valay's temple.

All hail the son of the Crown Prince Gloin Otreksson, all hail Gimli Gloinsson.

Your people choose to take the sight of Gloin's broken finger as a sign of only good things to come. It only shows that Grimnir's blood and favour flows strong in the veins of Clan Ironarm after all!
GIMLI THE FINGERBREAKER!

EEEEEEEEEEYYYYY!

Good lad.

Throughout it all, you cannot help but notice that young Lorna quietly converses and comes to a deal with the Loremasters of the Karak.
Oooooo? What are you doing Lorna?

She's ready.

YOU"RE BACK!

Okay! In terms of plans I have this giant list we can discuss.

[] Plan Griffons with Grungni and Knowledge Hunting
-[] Apprentice Hunt: [Cost: 1 Action] Apprentice Vote after Turn Results.Go out and trawl through the local and regional populace to find a beardling or two worth your time. No stone unturned, no clan unchecked, no record unread, even the Foundling Wards! 1 Action.
-[] [Simple] A Better Smelter: [Cost: 6 actions, x1 Voidstone] Productivity Like no Other will proc.
-[] [Difficult] Armored Skies Pt. 1: [Cost 1 Action]
--[] Choose: Master Rune of Blizzards, Rune of Lightning, Rune of Grungni
-[] Understand a Master Rune: Master Rune of Unyielding. [Cost: 16 actions] Depending on the choice, Student of the Odd and/or Mind of Metal may proc. 2 Actions.

[] Plan Griffons with Impact and Knowledge Hunting
-[] Apprentice Hunt: [Cost: 1 Action] Apprentice Vote after Turn Results.Go out and trawl through the local and regional populace to find a beardling or two worth your time. No stone unturned, no clan unchecked, no record unread, even the Foundling Wards! 1 Action.
-[] [Simple] A Better Smelter: [Cost: 6 actions, x1 Voidstone] Productivity Like no Other will proc.
-[] [Difficult] Armored Skies Pt. 1: [Cost 1 Action]

-[] Understand a Master Rune: Master Rune of Unyielding. [Cost: 16 actions] Depending on the choice, Student of the Odd and/or Mind of Metal may proc. 2 Actions.

So these two actions are doing a couple of things. As notable, they are grabbing apprentices and all of my plans are doing that. I think there's a lot of support for the idea and Snorri's actions during the Conclave around apprentices as a concept interest me in getting more of them and, while we may be in a time with actions locked up with the Smelter we are going to finish that pretty quickly. In terms of later plans that have to do with the Armor, I don't think there's much difference between six effective actions and eight.

The Griffon armors are the next big thing is in using one of the two variants for the armor. We don't have Combo Testing anymore, so we have to go with it. One of these is for a wind and storm and blizzard feeling as I outlined earlier in the thread, and the impact variant is one others have suggested for Thundersnow kind of things IIRC. I'm providing both so people have options. Both of these plans also go for the Master Rune of Unyielding which I want to do to explore my Banner Idea, or the Armor Idea later on. If you want the Banner, these are the plans I've made that are working towards it.

[] Plan Griffons and Smelter Focus
-[] Apprentice Hunt: [Cost: 1 Action] Apprentice Vote after Turn Results.Go out and trawl through the local and regional populace to find a beardling or two worth your time. No stone unturned, no clan unchecked, no record unread, even the Foundling Wards! 1 Action.
-[] [Simple] A Better Smelter: [Cost: 6 actions, x1 Voidstone] Productivity Like no Other will proc. +1 Extra Action.
1 Actions.

This one is the same as the first plan I suggested, but swaps an action from the Master Rune to the Smelters to pop three actions into it, just so we can have that on lock early.

Now! The Armor plans!

[] Plan Griffons and An Armor of Ages
-[] Apprentice Hunt: [Cost: 1 Action] Apprentice Vote after Turn Results.Go out and trawl through the local and regional populace to find a beardling or two worth your time. No stone unturned, no clan unchecked, no record unread, even the Foundling Wards! 1 Action.
-[] [Simple] A Better Smelter: [Cost: 6 actions, x1 Voidstone] Productivity Like no Other will proc. +1 Extra Action.
-[] [Difficult] Armored Skies Pt. 1: [Cost 1 Action]
--[] Choose: Master Rune of Blizzards, Rune of Lightning, Rune of Grungni
-[] [Difficult] The Eternal Bastion Pt. 1: Y [Cost: 1 action] If a rune you want requires special ingredients that you don't have access to I will alert you.
--[] Choose: Master Rune of Unyielding (Use Greedy Heart instead of Stonehorn Horns), Rune of Fortitude, Rune of Preservation.

[] Plan Griffons and An Armor of Vitality
-[] Apprentice Hunt: [Cost: 1 Action] Apprentice Vote after Turn Results.Go out and trawl through the local and regional populace to find a beardling or two worth your time. No stone unturned, no clan unchecked, no record unread, even the Foundling Wards! 1 Action.
-[] [Simple] A Better Smelter: [Cost: 6 actions, x1 Voidstone] Productivity Like no Other will proc. +1 Extra Action.

--[] Choose: Master Rune of Unyielding (Use Greedy Heart instead of Stonehorn Horns), Rune of Fortitude, Rune of Might.

[] Plan Griffons and An Armor of The Stalwart

--[] Choose: Master Rune of Unyielding (Use Greedy Heart instead of Stonehorn Horns), Rune of Fortitude, Rune of the Stalwart.

So, these plans are all going to have the Master Rune of Blizzards, Rune of Lightning and Rune of Grungni variant for the King of the Skies armor set up. Feel free to adopt and modify a plan to have an alternate combo if you want, these are what I want to go for since I think going for this assists him by supporting his magical abilities.

Now! Onto the armor itself! What each of these has is a specific statement attached to them.

- [ ] Choose: Master Rune of Unyielding (Use Greedy Heart instead of Stonehorn Horns), Rune of Fortitude, Rune of Preservation.
"This perfectly sealed bastion will make the wearer tireless, bolstering their fortitude and vitality and supporting them in their endeavors."

- [ ] Choose: Master Rune of Unyielding (Use Greedy Heart instead of Stonehorn Horns), Rune of Fortitude, Rune of Might.
"This bastion will make the wearer tireless, their vitality, fortitude and raw might made unending."

- [ ] Choose: Master Rune of Unyielding (Use Greedy Heart instead of Stonehorn Horns), Rune of Fortitude, Rune of the Stalwart.
"This bastion will make the wearer tireless, bolstering their fortitude and ensuring they will never falter in their stalwart guard."

They're all going for slightly different things, but the idea is to really hone in on the enhanced Tireless and Regeneration properties of the Master Rune of Unyielding with all three of these.

Now, a thing with the Armor plans that has changed since I made the write in for it is that I unfortunately didn't account for the Smelter, which means that my statement of being able to work on the armor on turn 23 is impossible if we want to put four actions into it like I do. We'd only be able to put in three actions and I do think there's a difference between 5 and 6 actions, mostly in that there's only one proc of Productivity Like No Other instead of two like there is with four actions. We would be able to finish the smelter on turn 23 though and start work on the armor on turn 24, which is my new goal.

Ooooooh, if only we had Favour with the Runelords here to help us in our research. Ah well.

And apparently Apprentices might serve to provide us with additions to our runic repertoire...I suppose that's one additional reason to take Apprentices.
uh to be entirely clear, the combos there are lesser versions of the Master Rune of Spite and Master Rune of Gromril. I think I should make that clear in update, because it smore to show that connection and for Snorri to have thrown out a lot of his combos after he got the Master Rune which was basically the combo but better.

If we don't look now the other runelords are likely to get all the best ones before us!

Holy fucking shit, a Troll Daemon Prince on turn 3? What the fucking fuck?

Like, take a Troll that's mutated to the size of a Giant and eats daemons for breakfast, make it the motherfucking Everchosen, and plop it on our backyard?

Thungni's beard.
To be fair it was the Pre vortex era where there were a lot more magic being thrown around everywhere and things were crazier compared to post Vortex era. Funnily enough because of this Snorri can do a 'in my day' rant without being hyperbolic.
*******************
Eight thousand years in the future.

Snorri: "Bah! You beardlings don't know how easy you have it compared to what we had to go through in the early days. These days the only things you have to worry are things like the Everchosen who is just a Manling in cheap knockoff armor that can never compare to real dwarfmanship. In my days our champions of undivided chaos were giant Daemon Prince Trolls as smart as man, as big as a Bloodthirster and literally ate Daemons for breakfast!"

So, we just need to invest another 2 actions into the Griffon armor to trigger productivity, so that's good, I'd be fine with grabbing an apprentice now then, if we had all 5 actions available I'd kinda want to go all in on the armor.

What was the combo we were going to use there again? And what specifically did we want it to do?

Nah, part 1 is the design phase. We are deciding the runes, not building the thing.

So, with two ap locked in, and with one apprentice ap also probably locked in considering the way thread spoke about it, that leaves two actions.

So, either proccing the better smelter ir unsung heroes is the likeliest result.

Kinda sad about that actually, I would have liked to do more research, particulary hearthstone/silver wutroth/sprimg water one.

Yeah, I noticed an extreme resemblance to Master Rune of Spite. Makes sense; I think you actually once said that's what Master Runes are, a combo made into a single Rune.

[] Plan Discovery

-[ ] Odd Places 6/10: [Cost: 1 action] Roll for usefulness. Look on Master Yorri's map and try and discover one of his marked locations. The locations will certainly be odd, but whether they'll be useful will remain to be seen.
-[ ] Apprentice Hunt: [Cost: 1 Action] Apprentice Vote after Turn Results.Go out and trawl through the local and regional populace to find a beardling or two worth your time. No stone unturned, no clan unchecked, no record unread, even the Foundling Wards!

-[ ] [Simple] The Unsung Heroes: [Cost: 2 actions] Productivity Like no Other will proc. Brynna will take this action if you do not. Otrek, now with the expertise of five Runelords close at hand, has finally found the time to commission equipment for the best Rangers in the hold. With the coming campaigns below and on the surface, these dwarfs deserve and will need fine equipment specifically suited for their role as opposed to the general Runic gear they've received from your earlier actions.
--[] One Action

-[X] [Simple] A Better Smelter: [Cost: 6 actions, x1 Voidstone] Productivity Like no Other will proc. Due in 4 Turns. 1 action locked in, more can be added. You and the Brotherhood have agreed to share information and knowledge in the creation of a new, larger Furnace array. The completed smelter will be for your use, seeing as you're using your own voidstone for the job, and the Brotherhood will disseminate this new design to their members. Many eagerly await the chance to use the Voidstone they've managed to find.

-[X] [Difficult] Armoured Skies Pt. 1: [Cost: 1 action] By the compact agreed upon by both parties, you will create a suit of armour for the King of the Skies. He is in no rush, but asks that the armour be a thing that exalts his people just as much as it will be an enhancement of his already terrifying abilities. Even with your skill, you doubt you could have created something that could honestly compare to the King's natural durability. Better then to make something that can support or enhance his more esoteric abilities or defend him in other ways.

Basically want to go out and explore for both talent and oddities before settling down for a few turns

So, I looked through the plans, but couldn't see if you had one that was just 1 action apprentice, 1 action smelter, 3 actions Griffon armor

Did I skim over it? There are so many plans there I feel like I missed one

A joke is often shared between griffons, whenever Dolgi's services are mentioned:
"For every time He who Girds the Many is rescued, he repays our eldest with a full suit of armor. Elders worry that soon, we'll have to worry about our nestlings outgrowing their armor."

So, I looked through the plans, but couldn't see if you had one that was just 1 action apprentice, 1 action smelter, 3 actions Griffon armor

Did I skim over it? There are so many plans there I feel like I missed one
There is not. I think that doing three actions into the Griffon's Armor right now is a bit inefficient/reduces possible quality, and have other things I have in mind at the moment. All told I think my current intent is to do his armor turn 25 with four actions, and possibly some adamant detailing if we have enough.

Nah, part 1 is the design phase. We are deciding the runes, not building the thing.

Kinda sad about that actually, I would have liked to do more research, particulary hearthstone/silver wutroth/sprimg water one.
Oh, whoops, I thought we were locked in to finish it this turn :D

Have we ever over completed the planning stage of something before though? I feel like that would also make the final result better from just having a better plan

Don't really feel like doing unsung heros. It is going to be done anyway if we don't do it and we don't have any special skill in making ranger equipment.

Oh, whoops, I thought we were locked in to finish it this turn :D

Overcompleting the planning stage doesn't do anything but possibly complete the final product faster. All overflow in a chain goes to the end of the chain.

Much as I want research, probably better to get a three-way bit into an action, especially when we're autoset on an action for the smelter and can bump it up to three with just one. And overdoing the KOTS' armor is a bit of a waste as such.

Anyway, I'm fine with an Apprentice now. It's arguably even more fitting considering our first two both just succeeded. So all three of Bungie's Armor (for us) plans are good for me.

Well that's REALLY fucking convenient.
Kind of makes sense though when you think about it. Normal Griffins are already insanely durable. The Sky King is from a race of super Griffons and is the Ancestor equivalent to said new race of Griffins who not only get empowered by eating the hearts of powerful enemies but ended up eating the heart of one of the oldest Dragon Ogres in existence.

So seeing as it seems like the best armor for him would be focusing on his more esotertic abilities feel like the best combo would be Master Rune of Blizzards + Lighting + Wind since those 3 seem like they fit his theme the most along with helping with his esoteric abilities. He already has lighting and frost abilities while wind would work as well since it was noted that wind is meant to help with movement through air IIRC. They also seem like the most likely to combo since they would be going for a storm theme.

Regents I am thinking about are Elder Frost Wyrm blood for the Blizzard Rune, Kholek's blood for the Lighting Rune and using one of the Sky Kings feathers for the rune of wind.

I like this plan or the armor ones the most. Between the Sky King's armor and the smelter we won't have time to do Snorri's armor until turn 24 probably. The smelter should be done in 2 sets of 2 actions so we can get it done in 2 turns without wasting actions. Getting an apprentice now would be interesting narratively since Dolgi and Fjolla are also around in the workshop at the same time.

Does student of the odd need all 3 actions invested in a single turn to proc or is it just every 4th action is free? MR Unyielding probably won't proc it but I'm curious how that works.

Oh. It's been a few weeks IRL, I thought that was just an example of an order.

Anyway it doesn't, but nor does the Rune of Frost and Elder Frostwyrm Blood still empowered it regardless.
This is very true! I would be A Okay with a thing that's like: Master Rune of Blizzards (Frost Blood/This is its required ingredient anyway), Rune of Lightning (Kholek Blood), Rune of Grungni (Oathgold). That is super duper rad to me.

Anyone up for master rune of purification study?

Also, our apprentices have pretty much confirmed our theory with the non master rune combos leading to Master runes. If those combos don't lead to master runes of spite and Gromril...
