On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Yeah it's either 3 (+2)/1 action or 2(+1)/2(+1) which ends up being the same number used either way so it really doesn't matter from an efficieny stand point :(.
It does depend on what we want to do with the remainder of the turn. for example for this turn
1 locked + 1 extra on Adamant smelter
1 locked on designing runic combo for KotS
1 on apprentince hunt
1 for look into odd places

Next turn:
1 locked on training apprentince
1 locked + 1 extra on Adamant smelter - this finishes it
2 on making armor for KotS

I do not think part 5 is going to be it finishing it. I see part 5 as the start of the second half of the chain, because it leads to a T5 material and part 4 (More than thirty actions) is how long it took just to finalize Adamant as a producible Thing.

Oh. I am a silly, sorry, you are indeed correct so turn 23 would have room for two actions of research then yeah. Or one research action and one odd places.
2 actions of research is just poor since that does not proc traits, unless we are researching something that does not get trait procs. and as it is this turn I think we can hit up one of the odd places. It would let us put 2 actions on Kots next turn for 3 actions total and that would just be the making the armor part so that should give the best result

[ ]Plan: Finish the Adamant Smelter
[X] [Simple] A Better Smelter: [Cost: 6 actions, x1 Voidstone] Productivity Like no Other will proc. 4 actions
[X] [Difficult] Armoured Skies Pt. 1: [Cost: 1 action]

- [ ] Master Rune of Valaya, Rune of Fortitude, Rune of Stone

Lets finish the Adamant Smelter this turn then start the research

The reason no elder will ever tell their juniors why they tolerate their faffing nonsense.

You can't do both choosing runes and picking a theme, either one or the other. Also, that armor doesn't fit the desires specified in the request.

Oh definitely, but the sooner it's done, the sooner we know what it actually does. I don't think adamant had as much uncertainty as to what it would do compared to the t5 mat.

Oh I see what you mean. I'm under the impression it'll take about 3 actions in addition to the research to make the KoTS' armor so dumping 3 or 4 in would be better. I don't quite understand how many actions an item needs after the initial research step. I figure with the size, getting up to 6 total actions from overflow would still be useful. With Snorri, since the Heart is going into it, might as well do 4 actions and max it out.

We might want to hold off on our armor, researching Unyeilding and researching Valaya rune could improve our end result on the armor and once we use the heart that is it, T5 seems to be unique reagents.

We've held off long enough though. 32 actions worth more waiting, I doubt there won't be another big battle or campaign we're called to in that time.

I'm wondering just how a wind that is most effective in reflecting projectiles is Grungni's Rune.

Maybe something along the lines of a mountain being assaulted most often by the force that is wind yet standing ever steadfast against it? It's kind of a squinter and turning a theme around but maybe...

So from my perspective I've started considering Productivity in terms of procs and their quality. 2 actions is 1 normal proc, 3 actions is 1 upgraded proc, 4 actions is 2 normal procs. I personally rate quantity of normal procs as more valuable than a lesser value of upgraded procs in terms of the trait. Additionally all of our T4s have taken more than three actions IIRC and I'm really trying to make the Sky King's armor at least T4.

That's why I have suggested the plans I have.

We might want to hold off on our armor, researching Unyeilding and researching Valaya rune could improve our end result on the armor and once we use the heart that is it, T5 seems to be unique reagents.
I got to say I'm not a fan of this idea. I think its basically the same ballpark of thing that feature creeped the Gronti Argument. Like they could be useful, but it beyond the scope of my proposal and thus I am not interested.

It could be useful for a future Rune of Unyielding project, like a hospital upgrade or something, but I mean among other things the three proposed combos for the Armor don't use the Healing Rune or anything all that related to the Rune of Load-bearing.

We've held off long enough though. 32 actions worth more waiting, I doubt there won't be another big battle or campaign we're called to in that time.
The thing is once we make this we are not likely replacing it so I want it to be as good as possible. So for me our own armor should be in T5 gromil (locked behind the current rune metal) because that should be as big an upgrade over adamant as adamant is over pure gromil. The T5 Gromil is the minimum I think we should have up and running before using any T5 reagent.

Why would a thing that is T5, and thus even more valuable than Adamant only take 12 actions to move to from the baseline of Adamant which took something like 30+? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Like fundamentally we don't know how long our research chains are and Part 5 being the end is an assumption.

Problem is even if we rush the Rune Metal every turn, it will take 2 turns to finish pt 5 and then probably at least 4-5 turns for pt 6 and actual production. Now don't get me wrong I am all for doing rune metal and will propose it after the two armor sets are done.

"Think nothing of it my King! A great many saga will be written of the deeds done over these coming years, and it is only fitting that I be there firsthand to witness them! HA HA!" Dwalin proclaims.

In my headcanon, Dwalin now sounds like this.

Throughout it all, you cannot help but notice that young Lorna quietly converses and comes to a deal with the Loremasters of the Karak.

Note: Definitely look into this later.

"Damn bleeding heart of a girl at least tried to keep herself safe. Can't fault her for getting hurt saving the life of some bumbling beardlings who snuck out into the woods on some damn fool adventure. I'm sure the Bryggeroots are despairing in their failure as much as they're celebrating their good fortune in hitching themselves to such a promising young Kvinn," she continues.

Aww, our apprentices continue to be Best Dwarves.

We've procured the services of Lady Brynna, who very respectfully, took on the commission for the work we want to be done with the springs a few weeks ago for that.

This is something we're going to need to watch out for - with four other runelords and two soon-to-be masters in the hold, if we don't take jobs they may get taken from us.

Dolgi turns to look at Klorah, a small smile on her lips.

"Stop second-guessing yourself and just go about it would you?"

He lets out a shuddering breath.

She's right.

"Help me pack all this up then if you have the time?" he asks sheepishly.

Klorah rolls her eyes and gets down to helping him unclasp the buckle on one of the straps of the massive chest plate.

D'awwww.

There in front of you stands one of the Huskarl's Otrek has assigned to guard your workshop

Is this new? This feels new.

Excellent pieces, yet still highlighting just how far to go these two have. Their best effort over decades is equivalent to the bolt we turned out in a frenzied rush of two years.

[ ] [Simple] The Unsung Heroes

Hey, my write-in made the cut!

Also: Of course we lose combo-testing the turn before I wanted to use it. That's okay, I can deal.

Alright, this seems like a pretty straightforward turn from my point of view. @BungieONI, your plans were almost perfect for me, but none of them featured both of my combo ideas, so here's one more:

[] Plan The Thundersnow King and Stalwart Armour
-[] Apprentice Hunt: [Cost: 1 Action] Apprentice Vote after Turn Results.Go out and trawl through the local and regional populace to find a beardling or two worth your time. No stone unturned, no clan unchecked, no record unread, even the Foundling Wards! 1 Action.
-[] [Simple] A Better Smelter: [Cost: 6 actions, x1 Voidstone] Productivity Like no Other will proc. +1 Extra Action.
-[] [Difficult] Armored Skies Pt. 1: [Cost 1 Action]
--[] Choose: Master Rune of Blizzards, Rune of Lightning (Use a Dragon Ogre Shaggoth Heart), Rune of Impact. Make the armour of Pure Gromril and Suneater's Hide. Add Elder Frostwyrm Horns to the headplate to make functional additional weapons.
-[] [Difficult] The Eternal Bastion Pt. 1: Y [Cost: 1 action] If a rune you want requires special ingredients that you don't have access to I will alert you.
--[] Choose: Master Rune of Unyielding (Use Greedy Heart instead of Stonehorn Horns), Rune of Fortitude, Rune of the Stalwart. Make the armour out of Adamant and Elder Frostwyrm Hide, with Elder Frostwyrm Horns as helmet decoration.

I want to briefly highlight something regarding KotS's potential armour. The Rune of Grungi essentially performs a duplicate function to the Master Rune of Blizzards - using wind to turn back projectiles. When considering the Rune of Impact, however, remember that one of KotS's main attack methods is dive bombing.

Then, the sound of a thunderclap booms across the valley. The clouds part and a streak of screaming fury falls to the earth, destroying a large part of the remaining daemons in a shower of lightning and death. From the smoke and dust, the imposing form of the King of the Skies stands proudly, pristine and unblemished.
A screaming shriek, and soon the King of the Skies falls from the heavens, Dragon's Spite in his claws, slamming it through Kholek's lower spine.

The Rune of Impact adds momentum to a charge. Even if it doesn't combo, it will be hideously effective on the King of the Skies.

I'm actually okay using any of the three combos on the Eternal Bastion armour, this is just the one I like best.

Pt5 is likely to figure out the next tier with Pt6 being the actually produce that tier. And I would want to hold off until we have enough of the T5 metal for our armor, that is the sort of thing that will be a proper use of a T5 reagent. Otherwise if we want an armor know we should be looking at our T4 reagents since we can actually acquire more of those over time.

Also, either our clan numbers got diminished, or fjolla is insanely rich. One hundred times the clan's weight? Thats mountains of gold, even if our clan only numbered a few hundred

Mmmm, I disagree but I think we're operating on different fundamental axioms of "proper use of a T5" which aren't going to change so I'm going to bow out of this particular discussion.

On the one hand, you're right about Impact being best for his tendencies.

On the other hand, making a combo for something like this would be awesome, and the defensive wind stirred by Grungni probably has something related to his esoteric abilities.

Mmmm, I disagree but I think we're operating on different fundamental axioms of "proper use of a T5" which aren't going to change so I'm going to bow out of this particular discussion.
Well for me T4 are hard to acquire but can be replaced, T5 reagents so far have been unique and we have found a grand total of 2 and both from Boss type encounters. So using a T5 early is a gross misuse. The same way that using the Greedy One heart in an armor using Pure Gromil for construction would make it less powerful than using it in an Adamant armor I would expect a similiar gap between Adamant and the T5 Gromil. If we feel we need an equipment upgrade than it seems better to use our T4 reagents since we can actually get more of the same type while with T5 not only are they unique they also are used for different purposes so we would need to get really lucky to get another super regen T5 reagent to use when we unlock T5 Gromil.

Reposting my explanations:

So these two actions are doing a couple of things. As notable, they are grabbing apprentices and all of my plans are doing that. I think there's a lot of support for the idea and Snorri's actions during the Conclave around apprentices as a concept interest me in getting more of them and, while we may be in a time with actions locked up with the Smelter we are going to finish that pretty quickly. In terms of later plans that have to do with the Armor, I don't think there's much difference between six effective actions and eight.

The Griffon armors are the next big thing is in using one of the two variants for the armor. We don't have Combo Testing anymore, so we have to go with it. One of these is for a wind and storm and blizzard feeling as I outlined earlier in the thread, and the impact variant is one others have suggested for Thundersnow kind of things IIRC. I'm providing both so people have options. Both of these plans also go for the Master Rune of Unyielding which I want to do to explore my Banner Idea, or the Armor Idea later on. If you want the Banner, these are the plans I've made that are working towards it.

[X] Plan Griffons and Smelter Focus
-[X] Apprentice Hunt: [Cost: 1 Action] Apprentice Vote after Turn Results.Go out and trawl through the local and regional populace to find a beardling or two worth your time. No stone unturned, no clan unchecked, no record unread, even the Foundling Wards! 1 Action.
-[X] [Simple] A Better Smelter: [Cost: 6 actions, x1 Voidstone] Productivity Like no Other will proc. +1 Extra Action.
-[X] [Difficult] Armored Skies Pt. 1: [Cost 1 Action]
--[X] Choose: Master Rune of Blizzards, Rune of Lightning (Use a Dragon Ogre Shaggoth Heart), Rune of Grungni (Oathgold)
-[X] Understand a Master Rune: Master Rune of Unyielding. [Cost: 16 actions] Depending on the choice, Student of the Odd and/or Mind of Metal may proc. 1 Actions.

This one is the same as the first plan I suggested, but swaps an action from the Master Rune to the Smelters to pop three actions into it, just so we can have that on lock early.

Now! The Armor plans!

[X] Plan Griffons and An Armor of Ages
-[X] Apprentice Hunt: [Cost: 1 Action] Apprentice Vote after Turn Results.Go out and trawl through the local and regional populace to find a beardling or two worth your time. No stone unturned, no clan unchecked, no record unread, even the Foundling Wards! 1 Action.
-[X] [Simple] A Better Smelter: [Cost: 6 actions, x1 Voidstone] Productivity Like no Other will proc. +1 Extra Action.
-[X] [Difficult] Armored Skies Pt. 1: [Cost 1 Action]
--[X] Choose: Master Rune of Blizzards, Rune of Lightning (Use a Dragon Ogre Shaggoth Heart) , Rune of Grungni (Oathgold)
-[X] [Difficult] The Eternal Bastion Pt. 1: Y [Cost: 1 action] If a rune you want requires special ingredients that you don't have access to I will alert you.
--[X] Choose: Master Rune of Unyielding (Use Greedy Heart instead of Stonehorn Horns), Rune of Fortitude, Rune of Preservation.

[X] Plan Griffons and An Armor of Vitality
-[X] Apprentice Hunt: [Cost: 1 Action] Apprentice Vote after Turn Results.Go out and trawl through the local and regional populace to find a beardling or two worth your time. No stone unturned, no clan unchecked, no record unread, even the Foundling Wards! 1 Action.
-[X] [Simple] A Better Smelter: [Cost: 6 actions, x1 Voidstone] Productivity Like no Other will proc. +1 Extra Action.

-[X] [Difficult] The Eternal Bastion Pt. 1: Y [Cost: 1 action] If a rune you want requires special ingredients that you don't have access to I will alert you.
--[X] Choose: Master Rune of Unyielding (Use Greedy Heart instead of Stonehorn Horns), Rune of Fortitude, Rune of Might.

[X] Plan Griffons and An Armor of The Stalwart
-[x] [Difficult] The Eternal Bastion Pt. 1: Y [Cost: 1 action] If a rune you want requires special ingredients that you don't have access to I will alert you.
--[X] Choose: Master Rune of Unyielding (Use Greedy Heart instead of Stonehorn Horns), Rune of Fortitude, Rune of the Stalwart.

So, these plans are all going to have the Master Rune of Blizzards, Rune of Lightning and Rune of Grungni variant for the King of the Skies armor set up. Feel free to adopt and modify a plan to have an alternate combo if you want, these are what I want to go for since I think going for this assists him by supporting his magical abilities.

Now! Onto the armor itself! What each of these has is a specific statement attached to them.

- [ ] Choose: Master Rune of Unyielding (Use Greedy Heart instead of Stonehorn Horns), Rune of Fortitude, Rune of Preservation.
"This perfectly sealed bastion will make the wearer tireless, bolstering their fortitude and vitality and supporting them in their endeavors."

- [ ] Choose: Master Rune of Unyielding (Use Greedy Heart instead of Stonehorn Horns), Rune of Fortitude, Rune of Might.
"This bastion will make the wearer tireless, their vitality, fortitude and raw might made unending."

- [ ] Choose: Master Rune of Unyielding (Use Greedy Heart instead of Stonehorn Horns), Rune of Fortitude, Rune of the Stalwart.
"This bastion will make the wearer tireless, bolstering their fortitude and ensuring they will never falter in their stalwart guard."

They're all going for slightly different things, but the idea is to really hone in on the enhanced Tireless and Regeneration properties of the Master Rune of Unyielding with all three of these.

Now, a thing with the Armor plans that has changed since I made the write in for it is that I unfortunately didn't account for the Smelter, which means that my statement of being able to work on the armor on turn 23 is impossible if we want to put four actions into it like I do. We'd only be able to put in three actions and I do think there's a difference between 5 and 6 actions, mostly in that there's only one proc of Productivity Like No Other instead of two like there is with four actions. We would be able to finish the smelter on turn 23 though and start work on the armor on turn 24, which is my new goal.

[X] Plan The Thundersnow King and Stalwart Armour

@BelligerentGnu you should use Kholek's Blood for the Lightning rune.
