On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

@soulcake, I must say I absolutely loved how you wrote Grimnir to be bigger than he is, not just in your description of how he seems bigger than life to MC, but also through his demeanor and personality.

What does this roll do? Was it for Grimnir to notice our defenses? Does that mean there are 1 or 2 traps even he didn't notice?

I imagine deciding if this place was fortified enough to base out of or if he should remain on the move.

70 would be grudgingly, 80 would be 'adequate enough for a short campaign', 90 would be 'Okay that's actually not complete garbage' I expect.

My guess was it was his impression of the defense, the higher the DC passed the better his opinion of them. 70 was passable, 80 was well enough (for him) to not be worth a comment, negative or positive, 90 was worth a 'good enough'.

Best way to end this decade would be Grimnir naming Kraka Drak's Kings as Great Kings of the Northern Holds, under only the High King. This is an actual title Kraka Drak holds in canon, where a yearly Althing of the Ancestors is held by the Norse Dwarfs.

[] Plan Just a bit more
-[] [Simple] The Underway: [Cost: variable normal and apprentice actions] Productivity Like No Other will proc. 2 Progress per action, 1 progress per apprentice action. 36 out of (25+ 15[Delayed South]) =40 Progress. 7 progress a turn regardless of input.
--[] 2 actions + apprentice action
-[] [Simple] Torques A Plenty: [Cost: 3 Actions] Productivity Like No Other will proc.
--[] 2 actions

If I didn't vote for Marching, I'll probably vote for this. It completes Brokk's request, and overflows the Underway by 10 actions total, which should be enough to get something good.

Looking back, I'm really glad we invested so much effort in kitting out the hold's population with runic gear. It means that we won't be embarrassed by to our visitors.

As a side note, we also have an opportunity to make a killing selling fire stones to the southern dwarves. A giant market for our wares has just opened up.

Is that necessary, with the Underway to secure communications?

[ ] Plan Throng Preparation
-[X] Teach your apprentice. [Cost: 1 Action] Locked in for 1 turn.
-[ ] [Simple] Torques A Plenty [Cost: 3 Actions] Productivity Like No Other will proc.
--[ ] 2 Actions, 1 Apprentice Action
-[ ] [Difficult] A Higher Standard Pt. 1 [Cost: 1 action] If a rune you want requires special ingredients that you don't have access to I will alert you.
--[ ] Choose: Daemonward Combo
--[ ] 2 Actions
-[ ] Order: Cockatrice's Eye
--[ ] Kingly Authority: You may petition King Otrek to flex his political muscle to expedite the process. [Cost: 5,10,15, Favour from King Otrek, depending on tier] -1 turn taken on order.

The underway will already finish itself with this turn, with overflow even, so there is no reason to spend actions on it.

By adding the apprentice action to the 2 torque actions, we get some overflow on it without keeping us from also finally finishing that banner.

Ordering the Eye so we have the option of making the anti-daemon hammer next turn, if we don't immediately march out.

I feel like putting off the torc commission to go out with the throng is rather rude at best. The throng doesn't need our help, as it has plenty of runelords already, and I'd rather not put off a project as important as this. Besides, a bunch of griffons tagging along with the throng is probably going to be much more irreplaceable than another runelord. While going with the campaign isn't a bad idea, it should only happen after we handle the commission.
Any Dwarf who would begrudge you marching with Grimnir over making some torcs isn't worthy of his beard.

We don't have to work on the Underway, it's either way done. I see no benefit in it.

We should go into the army with 4 actions and let our apprentice start Torques A Plenty.

[X] Plan Khazukan Kazakit-ha
-[X] March: Grimnir the Valiant calls, who are you to not answer? Campaign with the Great Throng as it marches through the region. For the next ten years you will walk amongst the greatest examples of your people, partaking in the campaigns. Smiting enemies and perhaps even discussing things with a few dwarfs while you're at it. [Cost: 4 actions] Interlude Turns. These are not battle turns, Interlude Turns will be a series of updates happening over the decade, you get one choice an interlude turn. The number of Interlude turns = your unaltered total actions (which is 5)
--[X] 4 Actions
-[X] [Simple] Torques A Plenty: Elder Brokk has asked you specifically to create a set of Runic Torques, all meant to facilitate proper communication between what is clearly an avian and a dwarf. You remember Master Yorri told you about the time he bargained a few feathers off a Great Eagle. He never told you how, but you remember being taught a few odd runes in your past, just have to figure out which combination worked for Master Yorri. Maybe his book has something? Worst come to worst you could send a letter to the Dwarf. [Cost: 3 Actions] Productivity Like No Other will proc.
--[X] 1 Apprentice Action

Wait a sec, I just noticed something.

He is unmistakable, in his Ancestor wrought armour glittering the silver of Adamant. Holding his two legendary axes in each hand. A third, longer, axe is strapped to his back, the wicked edge just barely visible behind the flowing red cloak on his back. His white, braided and richly decorated beard and forked mustache sticking out from his helmeted head.

Turn 12 Results

Gain:
- Rune Metal Pt. 4 unlocked. You've made the metal, the Adamant, but you can find a way to make it without as many explosions, you're sure of it!
- [Tier 4] Bar of Adamant

Did we just discover how to produce the metal that Grimnir himself consider good enough for his armour? I'm pretty sure he knows something about it, if only because he knows Thungni and divine Ancestor bullshit.

Edit :
[X] Plan Khazukan Kazakit-ha

Because Grimnir. No more reasons needed.
