On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

NO NO NO NO! DON'T STOP THERE! i need to see if we can have dawi griffon riders!?//??

Also if those disposable hammers that they seem to throw have some variation of rune that channels Brana lighting then Warcraft 3 reforged will be redeemed in some small way!
the idea of throwing a perfectly good melee weapon is not something dwarfs consider very often I feel. They got Crossbows for the purpose of range.

How is the state of Karstah's equipment? I know she is going to come with us on campaign.

Much as this is causing a bit of strife, I like the conversations that are coming up to deliberate our intention and outward facing reputation

they can suck on a particularly porous piece of pumice for all you care!

This is a beautiful little phrase.

The second book, the one supposedly about dyes, for instance, spends as much time detailing the necessary equipment, facilities and physical safety precautions one should take when practicing Alchemy as it does describe how to make a more vibrant colour of red.

My goodness, he's practically *dwarven*.

He merely wishes that she had not provided his friend with a manual detailing how to make a saddle.

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH! IT'S HAPPENING!

"That's not very long at al- Alright, alright! I'm coming over, don't peck at me you incorrigible magpie!

snerk

This is the second time that you see the doors to the burial vault of Clan Ironarm open and shut, but rather than the burial of a King, it is the Ancestor of one.

R.I.P., Moira. May the Underearth ring with the clang of your frying pan.

Nevertheless, she wakes up in the Temple of Valaya two days later with a matron tutting down at her.

OUR DAUGHTER!

Mayhaps never. I have warned you, walk this path if you wish, Snorri, but know that I see less danger going back to the Anvil than I do joining them."

Well, shit.

You don't get a much more dire warning than that.

I'm genuinely extremely torn. I really want to respect Yorri's advice here, but I also really want that title! And also to know what the hell is going on!

We can get those rune trades by continuing to do our own research and doing awesome things then having people come to us because we're awesome like that.
But most won't, because they don't have a reason to come north. At least not the really powerful Burundi members. Like, this is the way to get access to those runes. Maybe we could get them otherwise, with much faffing about and muuuuuuch later but this is the way if you want any of the good runes in a reasonable time frame.

we have a bunch of good runes, and we've got Ancestor God's giving us clues for more of them for us to research. And I gotta say, I'd prefer getting the Ancestor God runes than the Burudin runes. So I just don't see it as a major concern for us. Beyond that, I'm really not concerned about the Runes from them at all, compared to how concerned I am about how joining them perpetuates this idea that being a member of the Burudin is what makes you good as opposed to the opposite, being good means you get to be a member of the Burudin. I'd much rather stay out of it and show off how good a non-member can be. Tone down how fancy they are in comparison. Because it doesn't seem like they've been doing their job.

I find it funny how people constantly bitch about AP and yet they pick the option which will likely cost us the most AP in the future, most likely starting next turn. I hope that you all planners are ready to throw your already made plans to the trash and remake them.

[x] [Burudin:] Yes:
[x] [Home:] Reject

More change to the Dwarfs setting a president for easier teaching and secret sharing

What do you do with the Workshop?

Fine. Fine. If the idiots are choosing to be cheeky and finagle a way to stay in your home, they're going to at least pay for the privilege! It will require a good deal of work, and cost a pretty penny both in time and effort, but if it's going to be done, then it's going to be done right. Your southern colleagues may grumble and growl, but when have they not? You're over a thousand years old, they can suck on a particularly porous piece of pumice for all you care! Unlocks further options.

Do you accept?
[ ] [Burudin:] No:
Gain Nothing/??? Heed your teacher, and decline Alric's offer to join the Burudin.

If we embrace the Runesmiths, and Reject the Burudin, won't that mean that we'd have started a rival org?
I'm kinda tempted.

IIf we EMBRACE and ACCEPT then woud we be consolidating a power block up north? Thus allowing us to influence southern politics?

And considering that our default option is coexistence and harmony..... We could really make the squabbling squats into Durin's dream.
Especially if we can get a big enough coalition with holds that are indebted to us together....
But ughhhh politics
Guys. This is heavy.

The ancestor gods are about to disappear. We have their trinkets but we are not getting any more direct help. And we don't actually have that many awesome runes, we have OK runes and incredible good reagents and combinations.

The runes we've released have typically been more focused on the ordinary runesmith and dawi. Only the Chainforger really counts towards what I consider Runelord level work, and even that has a future interation of being for the benefit of the common (if still rich) dawi.

On influencing the Burudin, we can do that just as well from the outside as we do inside of it. We'd just need to weather whatever spiteful plans aimed our way. This'd likely take the same amount of actions overall, but will certainly mean less politics if we remove the temptation of preemptive problem solving through politics.

The research that they give are what's amazing. Not the runes we've currently got. Like the fate runes, or the repair and space runes
