On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Yorri's gripe is that the Burudin has become a political creature first and a forum second. He sees members using their influence to push things as against the purpose of the group. The Burudin should be researchers, learners and pioneers; their purpose solely dedicated to furthering Runecraft. Not arguing about what the correct interpretation of the rules is, not pushing for certain reforms or arguing to stop them amongst themselves. Members shouldn't be joining for the purpose of using their newfound influence to control and coerce the Runesmith community of their Hold and region nor trying to form groups within the Burudin itself.

at least in Yorri's opinion.
…hmmm maybe if we can help change it to our POV maybe they can change we just need to tell yorri that and since we have a fuck ton of favors we could actually influence this failing branch to what it was supposed to be

...and how much has Snorri gained from engaging with traditional runesmith politics? Not so much that IMO the Burudin is worth joining, if that's become their primary purpose.

@soulcake Im planning of making a write in of making a bolt thrower write in for the Hearthguard for the Grudge Bonus to proc when making a difficult item do we need to add the Rune of Grudges or as long as its clear that that what were making is to strike out the grudge the bonus would apply?

Fine. Fine. If the idiots are choosing to be cheeky and finagle a way to stay in your home, they're going to at least pay for the privilege! It will require a good deal of work, and cost a pretty penny both in time and effort, but if it's going to be done, then it's going to be done right. Your southern colleagues may grumble and growl, but when have they not? You're over a thousand years old, they can suck on a particularly porous piece of pumice for all you care! Unlocks further options.

Frankly, I'm curious whether there is a reason why the organization Burudin sounds so much like Brooding. :V

But more seriously, is Alric intentionally trying to bring in Snorri because it's true purpose was supposed to be for people like Snorri

The hermit that researches and pioneers, and honestly doesn't give two bits about politics and needs more friends and equals to talk with. :V

We probably can't change it though, it was an inevitable development. Runelords are political, that is why they are Runelords.

Put too many of them in a room together for too long and politics will start happening. The only reason it didn't for the Brotherhood is that it is very monofocused, only research enthusiasts interested in a particular obscure topic join it, and the Burudin had already absorbed all the politically inclined.

Hell, even if the Burudin hadn't been formed, some other informal gathering would have naturally evolved for this purpose.

Um making the radical faction think we're becoming conservative really the radical and conservative factions hate each other so much that you don't want to be in either side
...We're already a radical who did something only an ancestor god is recorded as having done before, and did so so that a sufficiently accomplished Dawi can repeat it.

Little late to try avoiding being in either side.

Joining the Burudin and dropping a tactical nuke on our way in sounds like just the kind of entrance we should be striving for.

Actually we both conservative and radical by making runes and machine which is why the dwarves see us as really strange like our master who taught us because no dawi does both things and expect things to work out it really paradoxing to them like how the shock of them falling to chaos was remember

If people are politicing in a way that is problematic for the future of the guild, unilateral disarmament and letting them do it without any competition isn't the right response. Setting a better example and being in a position of sufficient influence that people pay attention is the appropriate response, not disappearing off into the wilderness.

Fundamentally, unlike Yori, Snorri is a runelord. Part of his responsibility is to be a high priest of the Cult of Thungni and grand master of the Guild of Runesmiths. This is a core part of his job.

And best of all, it shouldn't cost any AP on things that he wouldn't be spending anyway.

[X] [Burudin:] No

Yorri said he prefer Snorri return to the Anvil of all places. That sealed it for me.

@soulcake The one outstanding question I have that would sway me from Embrace to Find new accommodations is knowing if we can create a place similar to what Snorri described doing to his own home?

If one of the options for accommodations is similar in structure just, not in his house, then I'd happily change my vote over.

No? We are radical in almost any sense of the word applied to runesmiths.

I think the burudin could be useful in pushing further snorrist thinking down south, also the potential of a rune-trade with THE great runelords of this age is just too tempting.
