On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Its not really ammo stuff, this started off by someone wanting to make Yondu's Arrow.

In six turns when Snerra graduates.

Personally I expect that if we did that for too long the confluence of people who want to do requests and people who want to do research would lead to the bad result of no apprentices for a couple centuries. I've seen similar confluences happen in other quests.

But it might be worth a go for a turn or two.

Ah, brothers.

Good to know we ain't the oldest Runelord. Weight off my mind tbh.

Plan-wise! Well!

I think it would be best to put two actions into the Army Request, and then use the petition to make it cost three actions. That would let us finish it up and have an actually well set up Throng for when stuff goes bad.

Especially with this.

From there we can take up the Warmachine we ordered Diamonds for and then finish it next turn. Then one lot of research into the Heart. Since the banner was meant to have ancestor runes on it, specifically the Master Rune of Valaya, we can also order Stone Troll's Blood if we want. But overall I think now is a good time to focus on the Throng.

[] Plan A Throng To Be Proud Of
-[] Teach your apprentices. [Cost: 1 Action] Locked in for 3 turns.
-[] Teach your apprentice. [Cost: 2 Apprentice Actions] Locked in for 5 turns.
-[] [Simple] Write in, Armed in Arms: [Cost: 4 actions.] Productivity Like No Other Will proc. 2 Actions.
--[] Petition the Hold: Ask King Otrek and the Elder council for aid in managing the logistics of the project and incorporate it into his larger overall armament program. [Cost: 5 Favour with the Hold and King Otrek] Reduce total action cost by 1
-[] [Difficult] Write in, A Greater Warmachine Pt. 1: [Cost: 1 action] If a rune you want requires special ingredients that you don't have access to I will alert you. 1 Action.
- [] Choose: Master Rune of Disguise, Rune of Accuracy, Rune of Penetration.
-[] The Greedy One's Heart: [Cost: 4 actions] Student of the Odd will proc. 1 Action.
-[] Write-in: Stone Troll's Blood

Favor machine go brrrrrrrrt! :V

Or for this one if you don't want to do any research this turn, and want to get overflow down on the Armed In Arms request.

[] Plan A Throng Of Ages
-[] Teach your apprentices. [Cost: 1 Action] Locked in for 3 turns.
-[] Teach your apprentice. [Cost: 2 Apprentice Actions] Locked in for 5 turns.
-[] [Simple] Write in, Armed in Arms: [Cost: 4 actions.] Productivity Like No Other Will proc. 3 Actions.
-[] Write-in: Stone Troll's Blood

Only difference is no greedy heart, and one more action on Armed in Arms for one action of overflow on it.
How about one with anothe Odd place action instead of research? Or one with both of the write ins? But I'd take any of them anyway.

Anyway, I've been thinking on things, and I might have an idea.

@soulcake

Tell me, is it entirely possible to built a *Bolt* and a *Bolt Thrower* as two seperate elements of a single war machine? A super Bolt inscribed with the Master Rune of Flight and two supportive Runes, designed to return to its launcher that's equipped with a nice Master Rune, the Rune of Accuracy, and the Rune of Reloading?

To effectively get a blazing murder javelin that fires, delivers a payload, and then returns to its launcher quickly to be fired again, all with pinpoint accuracy?

could be possible...issue is that the entire javelin will need to be gromil...even then having it return will take time...

If we drop three actions into this tier of Rune Metal (proccing a whole bunch of shit), we can also drop one into the Hold Arming thing AND use some of our favor to drop the action cost down to 2.

This means that next turn, when we spend two actions on Armed in Arms to finish it off, Productivity like No Other will proc, giving us an extra action in it and conferring greater bonuses from it.
I'm leaning towards hitting another Odd Place on the off chance that there's something there that'll provoke another spur of immigrants. Because, we're gonna need to be entirely self sufficient when the Incursion starts, and i'd rather our population be as big as we can make it.

Also, ordering another ingredient or two, since we're gonna be without the market place.

Maybe we should Order some Oathgold?

'Cause for the banner I think Master Rune of Grungni + Rune of Courage + Rune of Battle is likely to be a good combo, and that Master Rune takes Oathgold.

It will go down to 3, but if we also pull the favor Extra on it, the actions required will drop down to 2.
Ah, I see what you mean. Still leaves a problem that we have to actually complete it next turn, when we're getting More Ominous Warnings to get our shit squared away.

It certainly won't get my vote.

I'm not really interested in doing the Odd places action again right now, when an option to fix up our metaphorical Sword like we just got done with our Shield is available. I really really want that done before the century turns over, going by the warnings we're getting.

(Also I'm suspicious as hell of those avalanches, and suspect its consequences of blow back from stuff the Slann are doing. Or something worse)

Don't know about the rest of you but I'd really like to argue for making this a research heavy turn. We have all the immediately pressing requests out of the backlog, and the research que has begun to pile up.

One of the options suggested was Master Rune of Valaya, Rune of Grungni, Rune of Grimnir. And we have those runes so that isn't a concern. A standard for the Ancestors, basically. Then later on we can make matching ones with Master Rune of Grungni, Rune of Valaya, Rune of Grimnir and then whenever someone figures out the Master Rune of Grimnir and we learn it we can make a banner with that.

As do I, which is why I am going for Bungie's plan that involves Greedy Heart research. But if it's coming soon, perhaps as soon as next turn...dammit, we need to increase our military capability as much as we can.

And I've always been wanting research heavy turns.

So, would it kind of mosy it's way back, or fly back fast? If this is a bigass war machine, don't want to risk getting impaled or knocked off. Perhaps some nets to block it, and some more suspended out front for it to nearly fall into?
Dont know. Bolt could either be too slow to be useful in returning, the Master Rune may not be strong enough to remove it from whatever it impaled, or it sends it flying back like a bullet back at whatever launched it. Another question is what the weapon Rune will consider the thrower. The Engineers or the engine itself? If the former, which of the engineers in the firing team?

You dont know :^)

I'm going to point out that to fight off a horde of daemons attacking our sister holds like @Derpmind pointed out last vote, which is very likely to happen before the daemons get to us, we need a properly Runed up Throng to reduce casualties.

It's pretty dang critical.

Ah. So if we want to try this, it's going to be trying, not automatically succeeding.

I'm not sure ballooning our population is a good idea if we're going to be under siege any time soon, more dwarfs is generally better for defence, but if we're suddenly under siege and our siege stores are too small for all the recently arrived dwarfs things aren't going to go so well.

Also, I'm rather alarmed by the ominous [There will be another vote after a plan is chosen] note before the choices.

Also also, I'm also concerned about the [Do Not Hoard Reagents guys, seriously] note, I keep thinking soulcake will have our material storage explode if we have too many (exactly one more) shiny reagent in it.

Altering BungiOni's plan for more Yorri Time.

[] Plan A Better Throng And Yorri Time

I mean, I wouldn't mind making eight special bolts for particularly nasty targets that are getting too close, like Greater Daemons, corrupted monsters, bigass daemon things, etc. really, with how much the text of the Master Rune of Currents is on something flying and cutting through the air, it'd be excellent for a projectile. Assuming we're allowed. If we're lucky we can retrieve them after the battle.

That's one action short? Edit: Oh wait sorry just saw it.

I'd like to order a Griffon Brain, if we can. I had an idea for an axe that used Currents, Speed, and Fury. You could call it Windreaper or Stormreaper. Hack foes to bits beneath a hundred lightning blows.
