I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

The request asks us to not give Gimli armor or a banner, since the panoply already covers that.

Either the Ancestor Runes for both Grungni and Grimnir, or a Master Rune for Grungni.

I mean, given that MGrungni has some defense against magic and projectiles, it'd hardly be the worst thing to have, in the end.

The question of rune meaning is a good one though.

Is there any reason to use a non-Master Rune version of a rune, @soulcake? Does it make some sort of difference?
 
If talisman then MDismay, Grimnir and Brotherhood I guess

"Under Grimnir's presence, all dwarfs shall be strengthened and all foes shall tremble under him." I just like the idea of having both fear and leadership bonus in an item
 
I wonder if it's easier to compress a combo of three regular runes than a combo of a master rune and two regular runes.

Also, and I may have just missed this, but if you compress a combo of three regular runes does that produce a regular or master rune?

That doesn't seem to have anything to do with Brotherhood, rather just being random disconnected effects.

It's more on the theme of having Grimnir-lite presence in the middle of the dwarfs to boost combat effectiveness and with an Ancestor God to weaken the resolve of our enemies. I'm still scanning for talisman rune that can give similar effects to rune of determination/courage

Determination and courage. Almost any lesser rune can be used in any category, barring some rare exceptions.

I am 100% sure that title goes to the elves. You know, the Thalassocracy with ports all around the world and dragons, situated on an island with so much shoreline to protect and a bunch of colonies; instead of a band of mountain-dwellers with a single port, maybe two depending on the Norse Dwarfs.
 
Huh, good to know, considering the spreadsheet puts them on banner runes, so not sure what to make about it

But I guess, Grimnir/Grungni+Determination+Courage or Grimnir+Grungni+Determination/courage then. The message should be simple

"The Ancestor(s) watch(es) me, I shall not break for my people!" or something of some sort

The more esoteric the Rune the less likely. What do you think this supposed Rune does?

Bit of both based on Snorri's research. Grungni and Valaya's Master Runes were Runes Thungni taught, but their effects don't exactly match the depth and breadth of their regular Runes. He isn't sure if the Runes were used to make the Master Runes, but signs point to a combo with them involved. Which would make sense.

The thing is, do you think the Prince needs magical assistance not to break? What message does it send to give someone a gift that bestows supernatural courage? It rather suggests that you think they need it. It doesn't seem like a very politic gift.

I much prefer the Ancestor Rune of Grimnir + Ancestor Rune of Grungni + Rune of Brotherhood idea in those terms.
 
Honestly, Adamant or Gromril aside, I still want to make Gronti and golems in the guise of Grimnir pre Slayer, because he's awesome and I predict fun moments at times when people who never lived in his era double-take at learning the big non-Slayer warrior golem is actually Grimnir.
 
Has anyone considered Valaya + Grungni + Grimnir for a talisman for the prince? Together they represent the three ancestors most associated with leadership together it feels like the talisman would offer wisdom in each of their respective domains.

We could potentially do something like Valaya (Hearthstone or Troll Heart), Grungni (Oathgold), Grimnir (Zufazul) as well if we went with that.

That is getting pretty far away from the themes of the two mantles and trollslayer, but on the other side of that it doesn't really interfere with them either. Not sure it could set bonus, but it might well combo.

I don't think that we really have the time to do that if we are going to seriously go for gromril chain. I simply cannot imagine gromril chain being that cheap.

I don't think it is either, as I am expecting it to turn out that it is impossible to get chain before the commission anyway and for that to become evident around part 2.

I probably won't vote to accept the request but I still find it fun to consider what items we could make and throw them out there in case people do vote for it.

The pessimist in me thinks the is the case, but I'm hoping might be able to get it to the point we can do chain for 1 suit maybe made of adamant with an MValaya on it. The super optimist in me is hoping we can chain them all up but I consider that a massive long shot.

Yeah. Granted even with doing something for Gimli we can finish part two by the end of turn 36 if it has similar action costs to other stuff, especially if we dump all our spare favor into 1b.

My idea for Gimli stuff:

Weapon:

-Kazak Lok: A hammer, cast in the shape of a snarling lion, runed with the Master Rune of Smiting, Rune of Fire, and Rune of Cleaving. Cutting, pulverizing, destroying; pulping flesh and bone alike, armor buckling under the the might of the blow and the heat released from every blow, every strike releasing a blow that sounds like the great snarls of a mountain beast.

Talisman:

-Doh Drenge: A necklace of mostly gold, formed in the visage of a snarling longbeard, bearing the Master Rune of Spite, Rune of Warding, and Rune of Luck, forming a ward of pure energy that, if snapped, makes the necklace burn bright blue and strike back with a great force; the Rune of Luck protecting from anything the Rune of Warding and Spite cannot frighten away.
