Why would you ever willingly go there?
Thought I could enter a conversation where I could talk about my views freely about certain subjects.

Turns out if you don't have specific views on certain subjects, everyone there will treat you like you're an idiot. Don't know what I expected, tbh.

I can't turn off the notifications for those threads without turning off the ones for this one either. help?

Go to the top of the thread's page, and you should see a button with "Unwatch" on it in the top right. Click it, and you'll dump that thread like a bad date.

Gah!
Sorry about that.

Yeah, I don't really want to look at those threads anymore.

I have learned that a few of my ideas were a bit misinformed, and It did seem like quite a few people were miffed that I held the views that I did.

I've found that my opinions on subject matters tends to shift towards what's most popular and easy to go with in the conversation, I suppose in an effort to not get people to hate me. Sooo... yeah.

Yeah, online chat forums make excellent echo chambers, so it's no surprise they didn't want to engage with a different opinion.
Yeah, I'm well aware of that. For some reason I thought SV might have been exempt.

Now I have new information and viewpoints floating around in my head, and now I'm worried about picking the wrong view and supporting something bad.

It's just.

Uggh.

Kinda regret going there.

Here's what I do to keep my head straight in politics. Instead of picking a group and basing your beliefs around it, you define your beliefs in clear, concise terms, then go hunting for the political alignment that fits those terms most closely. It's easy to get lost in the jargon and start thinking right is wrong, up is down, and that the government can give stuff away for free with no strings attached.

I'll cut it there because we're getting off topic, but I'll pm you the beliefs I use to keep my head straight if you want to see them.

That would be kinda nice, thank you.

Now, back on topic.

Uhhh....

Damn. Those forums really did throw me off track.

OK IM BACK NOW

Someone tries some sort of conceptual healing of Sabrina, and she ends up looking like a barely month old infant.

(How old is Sabrina anyway? She's existed on this plane of reality for a few weeks, experienced ~6 years of time on a subconscious level, has the emotional and physical maturity of a teenager, our soul might be older than the universe...)

Conceptual healing power: WHAT.IS.THIS?!
Sabrina: Hi Power! I'm Sabrina!

That is adorable. I would assume she'd ask Junko for advice.

"You're a little young to have a daughter."
"...She's my.... um.... cousin... um... Saki."
"You know your "cousin" looks strangely like my daughte- Wait. Are you even legally allowed to have her in your custody?"
"If Mami Tomoe gets to adopt a fucking cheese gremlin then I am allowed to adopt a cute little Madoka familiar! I will make it legal!"

[X] Homura likes to be able to reason her way through a problem. First, have her spell out her pre-conceptions more fully - some are perhaps untrue! Homura is doing better than anyone, objectively. Homura has empathy, like a saint. Her courage is amazing. Her presence of mind and willpower are at the peak. And she is the best. friend. ever.

Or invent a better question!

[X] She's already started doing it.
[X] Reaching out lets everyone see her more clearly.
[X] With just the changed context of knowing what she fights for, instead of making her seem untrustworthy, they see she's noble and appealing.
-[X] Meeting allies has gone well. We will repeat and improve this!
-[X] The guardedness and barriers she's built up are like the social equivalent of having a limp because she broke her ankle saving someone. It is healing.

[X] Positive plans: No more Isolation, that is the poison for Magical Girls. Share. Reach out.
-[X] Find ways to be together. Particularly with Madoka. It keeps her safe.
-[X] Empathy and Intimacy are the way forward. We will practice unlocking this with all the people that we are meeting, and repetition will make her learn.

[X] She's been trying to keep Madoka away, scare her away, for a long time, and you can understand why
-[X] But without context, everyone interpreted Homura's actions in a really bad light, and it made *Homura* see everyone's suspicious side, instead of how caring they can be to their friends. If she's convinced she can't get anyone to believe or trust her, it blocks her progress.

-[X] To enact Homura's wish, Madoka must meet her. She wants to meet her. Isolating Madoka is not an option.

[X] Just trying again is huge.
-[X] The first time she really tried to convince people and get them to trust her, she was missing information and advantages that she's since gained, and the repeated failures made her believe it wasn't doable. But at this point, that belief is harmful.

[X] She's become extremely guarded about her emotions. Fine emotional feedback was not important to her survival in the loops.
-[X] Emoting is central to many ways of handling social interaction, and her guardedness hobbles it. Engaging with others in friendly settings is the way home.

-[X] Revealing her history explains her lack of emoting. Understanding the pain in her years and years of fighting creates tolerance that she's been forced to be this way.

[X] She can be more intimate by saying "Because this is hurting me," or, "I'm asking because of something painful in my past."

-[X] Referencing her pain as the reason for requests may be the single best route to have Kaname Madoka swear off a contract permanently.

[X] "Kyuubey likely will try to harm you emotionally. Prevent it from talking directly to you by any means necessary" The Incubator has unlimited practice at controlling us to its own ends.

Not compressed.

This is here as the concept of "Properly preparing Homua for 1)Healing 2)Potentialbomb and 3)Protect Madoka" We can't afford to delay any of those. All can be handled, if we lighten up on hitting her triggers.

Thanks for giving such profound votes to begin with, from there my priority edits and concerns were much easier.

Let's see an even better version! It is your turn. Fourth-wall-breaking "hey, you!" that is.

Some lovely piece of fan art I found here.

Given the mechanics of Star Wars metaphysics/The Force and Homu's... issues, can Sabrina help prevent her from immediately falling to the dark side?

I think, so long as Homumom's got the mission, she'll probably stay on the Light Side of the Force- even if she used Dark Side powers. She's fairly good at controlling her grief spirals, it's just that her will is particularly brittle iron; tough as hell, but falls apart if you hit it hard enough, and in the right place.

Post PMMM is where we get into trouble.

I thought light and dark side wasn't neccesarily good and evil, just dualities?
Eh. You can use the Dark Side of the Force, but it encourages emotions like fear, anger, hatred, etc. Those who control that encouragement are fine-ish. Those who embrace the Dark Side of the Force (Dark Siders for short) tend be homicidal nutjobs.

The Dark Side is either a corruption of the Force or the force itself is dualistic and the Dark Side is the evil half (think Angra Mainyu from Zoroastrianism), as it is fueled by negative emotions and tends to turn people into psychotic nutjobs. SW media and general can't seem to decide which interpretation is correct.

For a more fringe position, Kreia (and Verla apparently) think the Force is an evil god.
