[x] To Sakura: "Fine, I'll let that one go, but from now I'm not going to tolerate that bullshit. I'm here to stop a war. Not leave a body trail. From now on, no killing. No severe injuries unless we absolutely have to. Got it?"
[x] Grab Akiko and get everyone onto the grief express. We're getting out of here.
-[x] ...or teleport. Teleporting's good.
[x] (If Grief Express) Head out of the city towards Sendai. Keep an eye out for other megucas, but try and outrun anyone following us instead of engaging.
-[x] Question time while en route (or post teleport):
--[x]Ask all questions in telepathy without Mami first. If any of the answers involve the witchbomb or something that would traumatize Mami, don't ask it out loud.
--[x]Ask the questions with the safe answers out loud.
--[x]Tell them to just go with it.
---[x] Alright, what the hell is going on? What were you three doing in Ishinomaki in the first place?
---[x] Who were those girls, and why was that group after you?
---[x] The Tohoku and Fukushima group? Why are they involved in this?
----[x] Tell us everything you know about the Tohoku group. Their leaders, capabilities, disposition, etc.

Hey, I'm another new person, there are so many new people it seems!

I modified the Muramasa vote. I really don't want mami to know the witchbomb at all. So, I decided to make sure it's safe in telepathy first. I don't care if kyubey knows we know the witchbomb, we seem more likely to know the witchbomb and survive the witchbomb due to our powers.

I'm bad at explaining, so I hope you understand, if you don't I'll try my best to explain. I just hope I'm not useless. ( :

Edit: sorry, I added this []Tell them to just go with it.
I'm gonna go to sleep now.

It would really be nice to know more about the clone powers of that one magical girl.
The Ishinomaki girls changed direction and stopped their pursuit of Akiko, as soon as the clone was dropkicked by Sakura.
The question here is: did they stop because they felt the clone dying or can the clone somehow relay information to its creator?

If they only felt the clone dying they don't know our faces and who we are at the moment. Which would help us to still open negotiations with them at a later time. The only thing they know for sure is that at our position is a ridiculous amount of grief. The mechanics behind that clone power may be something we might want to ask the Sendai girls after we escape.

If the clone shares it's senses with its creator or relays information after its death like a shadow clone, they know what we look like and that we are responsible for that huge amount of grief that appeared out of nowhere. This would make them wary of us even if Sakura hadn't messed everything up.

That dosent sound particularly evil, or particularly fun to play. Somewhat paranoid, sure, which may well be justified. (Puella Magi, esspecially these somewhere in the middle between completly idealistic and completly cynical/corrupt (who more likely can be dealt with for opposite reasons) are likely to be somewhat "racist" by default).
But to be forced by GM-fiat to belive the world is evil, when its clearly not, is a really sucky position to be in, takes massively agency away from any players, and sounds like it will end ina depressionspiral without any fun.

Cant really speak for others, but something like that would be very much not my thing, and i cant see it being all that popular (although its possible ive gotten something wrong here.

Would also copletly miss any point why i at least hoped for something like that in the first place, namely something were there can be some fun while being evil.

All fair points. The problem is that...well.

Being a witch isn't fun. Nor do they seem to have a lot of awareness outside of their own constantly self-absorbed misery.

Ah well, fuck it.

I dont think the point was ever to play a "normal" witch. That would be nigh impossible, due to serious questions about lack of basic sentience and ability to correctly percive or understand anything.

With that you can maybe build a surrealist horror short story, but not much else.

Or be a giant spidah.

Or be a giant spidah.
We all loved witch-quest, but rochelle was very much not standardwitch from the beginning. Sure, she had to work a bit to (re)gain as much humanity as she had later, but she started at least coherent, sane-ish and able to think logically, which is really necessary for a character to get anywhere usefull.

Well, if I was writing a non-normal Witch they'd be like Rochelle sanity-wise but not quite so cute.

@Ugolino, I'm sorry I left in a huff. I stand by the other thing I said, but you weren't deliberately being an asshole, and I overreacted in a way that was both rude and unproductive.

"We've Got Hostiles" pt. 2
You snort, still glaring at the teleporter. "Fine. I'll let that one go, but from now on, no more of that bullshit. I'm here to stop a war, not leave a body trail. No killing. No severe injuries, unless we absolutely have to. Got it?"

The brunette stares at you. "The fuck? That was a bloody clone! I've popped, like three today!" she pauses for a moment, and amends with a smirk, "Four. And I thought you were bloody here to hel-" her eyes dart sideways to Rin, before she seems to think better of what she wanted to say.

You snort. "I'm here to stop a war," you repeat. "Anyway, hold that thought," you point past her, at the rooftop behind where you can sense Akiko closing on you.

The bluenette crests a nearby roof, dressed in what you will presume is her puella magi costume - a white jacket trimmed out in sky blue of a similar cut to Sakura's, albeit one suited to her more generous figure, over a short skirt in similar colours.

Akiko lands smoothly on the roof, giving the three of you a polite nod. "Miss Sabrina. Miss Tomoe. Miss...?"

"Kirika! Kure Kirika!" the black haired girl says brightly.

"Miss Kure," Akiko nods. "Thank you for the rescue. Might I ask what prompted this?"

"Not here. The Ishinomaki girls are..." you frown. They've left your range. "Running," you say lamely. "Sakura, can you teleport us out of here?"

Akiko holds up a hand, cutting off Sakura's instinctive denial. "Sakura, I think Miss Sabrina has the right idea. We should continue our discussions somewhere safe. Bring us to... Mitakihara?" The bluenette glances at you with a raised, eyebrow.

You shake your head. "No. I don't want Mitakihara in the line of fire."

Another delicate, deep blue eyebrow joins the first. Nevertheless, Akiko nods. "Somewhere... safer, then. Sakura?"

"Fine. Grab on," Sakura grunts, holding her arms out to you. "And don't fuckin' interrupt me when I'm charging." You nod, folding your Grief Wings down into marbles and packing away the loose ones. The five of you - yourself, Mami, Kirika, Akiko, and Rin, alternately grab onto Sakura.

Sakura closes her eyes, and concentrates. A gentle radiance ripples out from her Soul Gem to emcompass all of you, and then a moment later, you are-

Vwwp.

-elsewhere. Another rooftop, and a different skyline - Ishinomaki proper barely a grey blot in the distance. Sakura roughly shakes off your grips, fumbling in her pocket and withdrawing a Grief Seed even as she leans over, supporting herself with her free hand on her knees. Her breath comes in harsh gasps.

"I could-" you begin to offer, hand reaching towards her Soul Gem.

"Bugger off," the brunette says succinctly, pressing the Grief Seed to her Soul Gem.

Mami, standing beside you, frowns at the teleporter, folding her arms.

You fold your own arms. "Alright. So what the hell is actually going on? You girls went to Ishinomaki, and the next thing I hear, there's a war going on. What were the three of you doing in Ishinomaki?"

Akiko gives you an evaluating look. "Negotiations, and healing."

You narrow your eyes. "Then how did this start? Why were those girls after you?"

The bluenette shrugs. "They hold an... old grudge. I suspect that they orchestrated this entire thing."

"A grudge," you say skeptically, idly noting that she seems to be pinning the blame on Ishinomaki, rather than the University group.

"Yes, a fuckin' grudge," Sakura snaps at you. Rin, standing beside her, puts a calming hand on her shoulder, which Sakura shakes off with in an angry motion.

Kirika flexes her hands lightly, eyeing the teleporter warily, while Mami gives Akiko and Sakura both an equally unimpressed look. Rin... shrinks a little, eyes darting between all of you nervously.

Akiko closes her eyes, tilting her head back up at the sky. "We attempted to... aggressively acquire their territory, once."

"You tried to steal their city," you say flatly.

"Yes," Akiko admits.

"Hm," you say, glancing at Mami, who now sports a worried frown creasing her brow. "Leaving that aside... The University and Fukushima groups? Why are they involved?"

Akiko's eyebrows shoot up. "You are remarkably well informed."

"Not an answer," you tell her, feeling a moment of deja vu.

"I suspect the University group was convinced to do this by the Ishinomaki Group," she says. "And I called in a favour with the Fukushima group to help when it became clear that we were outnumbered."

"Alright," you continue. "What can you tell me about the University group? Leader, capabilities, that kind of thing?"

Akiko frowns. "There are four of them. Umeko Yuko, Tsubaki Chouko, Suzuki Rei and... Suzuki Haruna?"

"Haru," Rin supplies, looking up.

"Suzuki Haru," Akiko finishes.

"Four of them?" Mami asks. "Weren't there six of them?"

"One of them left," Akiko says. "The last one... died." She grimaces, looking away.

I would read that. Before Rochelle's character solidified, I was hoping for a bit more of the predator in her to show. Not murderdeathmaimkillmuahahahaha! But enjoying the hunt.
Edit: Gmninjad! ... Nothing to contribute yet though :p

Akiko is skirting around either 'died' as in 'we killed her' or more likely as in ' we refused to heal her '. Our possibly 'turned into a witch'.

Paranoia says it's a witchbomb, but pragmatism says the University group is here because of a grudge, like a refusal to heal leading to death.

Hmm, something isn't adding up. What the hell are they doing in the territory of someone they once had a war against? Did the Ishino girls invite them for healing, then sprung a trap on them? Also, the university group has apparently been planning this attack for some time, and it doesn't quite hold up with what Akiko is telling us about the Ishino girls being the masterminds being this attack.

I'm also not seeing where we come into this picture. According to Oriko, our actions during the negotiations set this course of events into motion, and I'm really not seeing how we were capable of that. More information is required.

Expect an update to the information list soon.

In addition, how the hell does a "grudge" escalate into this clusterfuck. Everything that Cannongerbil said is true, but what I find most gratuitous is the apparent handwaving the Sendai Group is willing to do about this. There's a dark, dark secret here that they're not telling anyone. Rin almost certainly doesn't know, and neither does the Fukushima Group.

We should back the fuck out of any association with the Sendai Group. This is setting off all my paranoia bells.

Vote suggestion: Something to the effect of:

[] This is clearly not the whole picture, but fine, fine, whatever. Who are your other enemies? What about your friends?
[] Find a place to hole up.
[] On the way there, ask Kirika to "trip" and hurt herself. You broke her knee earlier in a fight and clearly haven't healed it properly. Rin, can you help?
--[] Use the opportunity to make conversation with Rin. Find about how long she's been with the Sendai Group and how well she knows the girls. What're they like? Hobbies? Favorite foods?
----ooc: Yes, there is a point to that line of questioning. The goal is to get an understanding of how the Sendai Group behaves and how they think. If Sakura is surprisingly into the Tea Ceremony, for example, we shouldn't expect her to be easily ruffled by blood and gore. She's got the meditative calm (or as calm as she can get) thing down, probably.

Considering we know nothing about the other team, I think it's a little early to say we're on the wrong side. That said, I'm finding it a little hard to trust the Sendai group when they're keeping a lot of information from us. Considering the liklihood a witch out was, I'm not too comfortable asking for more information, but we're still going to have too at some point. We should definitely at least ask as much as we can about everyone who's going to be involved in this mess.

Why do I have the feeling that we are on the wrong side of this war?
There is no right side of the war, I don't think. I'm pretty sure neither side is entirely blameless, and I'd be very surprised if it turns out that there is a right faction to support. In any case, getting involved is still a better course of action than letting this war spiral out of control.

Groups that are already involved in the fighting:

Sendai Coalition:
  1. Sendai group: 5 members. Full information on group composition is now available. This is the only group which we have made direct contact with prior to this incident. The Sendai crew appear to be at the centre of this mess, and at this point in time are our only link into this war.
They tried to take the territory of the Ishinomaki group at some point in the past, which left a grudge with the Ishino girls and, according to Akiko, is why they orchestrated this attack.
    Known members:
    • Waterbender: Hamasaki Akiko
    • Teleportation: Tachibana Sakura
    • Healing: Mori Rin
    • Forcefield: Tanaka Tamiko
    • Gravity Manipulator: Minami Yumi
  2. Fukushima Group: ??? members. Allies of the Sendai group, Called in by Akiko as back-up once she realized that she is outnumbered. Will bail out the remaining 2 members currently stuck in Sendai. Capabilities unknown

Ishinomaki Alliance:
  1. Ishinomaki Group: >3 members. Based on information from Akiko, The Ishinomaki group hold a grudge against the Sendai group from when the Sendai crew tried to stage a hostile takeover of the territory. This is the apparent reason why they staged an ambush on the group when they visited Sendai, to take revenge for that incident. Known powersets:
    • Earthbending: ???
    • Doppelganger: ???
  2. The Tohoku University Group, AKA the second Sendai group: 64 Members. Mami knows of these guys before. Allies of the Ishinomaki group, having been called in by the Ishinomaki group as allies According to Mami, they have been planning an attack on the Sendai group since the previous year.

This contradicts what Akiko said, which is that the Ishinomaki group are the masterminds behind this attack. It could possibly be just her operating off faulty information, but this discrepancy could be masking something bigger.

Previously assumed to have 6 members, they presently only have four, one of them having left, and the other one "died". Amongst those missing is Ayano Chika, which is one of the girls who've met with Mami previously. The member that left is possibly the the Member currently in the Tome city group.
    Known members and powersets:
    • Invisibility: ???
    • Flight: ???
    • Plant control: ???
    • ???: Tsubaki Chouko
    • ???: Suzuki Rei
    • ???: Suzuki Haru
    • ???: Ayano Chika Killed or left. In any case she isn't part of this group anymore.
    • ???: Umeko Yuko

Groups that are not currently involved:

  • Onegawa Group: ??? members. Future members of the Sendai Coalition. Capabilities unknown.
  • Tokyo Group: ??? members. Future members of the Sendai Coalition, second to join up. Capabilities unknown.
  • Osaki Group: ??? members. Future members of the Ishinomaki Alliance, first new party to join up on their side. Capabilities unknown
  • Tome City Group: ??? members. One of their members used to be part of the Tohoku University group, but left for whatever reason. They have a grudge against one of the parties involved in this war, most likely the Sendai Group. Will join the war on the side of the Ishinomaki Alliance in the near future. Capabilities unknown.

Unaffiliated power sets:
  • Technology control: ???
  • Electricity: ???
  • Telekinesis: ???
Additional notes:
Okay, so the University group has lost two members since they tried to recruit Mami, one of whom left and the other one "died". This is important, not just in the fact that finding out why they died or left could shed light on the deeper causes behind this conflict, but also in that "died" could very well be an euphemism for witching out, which brings us perilously close to the Witchibomb for Mami. Proceed with caution.

As of this point, only half of the 8 groups are involved in the fighting. The possibility of us stopping the war before they are called in is still reasonably high.

First casualty in three days time.
