It's interesting which updates people enjoy the most. For me it has to be the one where we gave the University Group a Clear Seed.
I really don't remember, I would need a refresher. :p

Maybe we can make a list of candidate best scenes and strawpoll to see which one's the most favorite?

There's been so many good scenes...

Like... Uh...

- Shopping with Homu, getting a smile like gesture from her pranking the Yakuza boss. Bonus: Homumom casually stopping us from cutting her head off while swinging the katana around like a child.

- Sabrina being comforted. Sayaka stepping up and making everyone group hug, even getting Homu to join.

- MECHA GURREN ZILLA LAGANN.

- Kirika giving Sabrina advice about Mami.

Hmm.

- Flying with Mami

- The Yuki fight scene

- Comforting the Shiogama refugees

- The Picnic

I don't actualy have a favorite update, for whatever reason. I love PMAS, and the Sendai War arc was my favorite arc so far, but no update really stood out as "This is it! The is PMAS at its best!"
Probably cause I in most of it in reader mode, so each individual update didn't have the weight it would have reading it as it went. Still, I find it odd.

I don't really have favorites either. About most things, really.

- Would the first kiss (and Mami's reaction) count as a different scene?

- Masami getting healed.

- Homura opening up during timestop hunt.

- Getting Kirikahugs after making the Anti Pain Ring.

Wait, are you suggesting that we instantiate a system by which we provision and send out pairs of meguca who:
  • Are carrying a message of peace
  • Seek to spread the good word news of our existence
  • Go door to door between other meguca groups
  • Invite people to join us
  • Are probably rather snappy dressers
...I can't see ANYONE forming negative associations with this AT ALL! :p

... PffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffHAHAHAHAAHHHAHAHHAHAH

AHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAHAHAHAAHAHAHHA

HOLY SHIT LOL

Nah, we're just commissioning people to spread word that the evil system has ended and that they have been forgiven for what wrongs they've done before now.

...wait.

"Thank you," you murmur. "I... I don't want to be alone, either." You pull Mami into a tight, crushing hug, and she reciprocates, arms wrapping around your back as if she'll never let go.

[Q] Take a selfie right now. Send it to Kirika.

It was a quiet evening at the Kure mansion.

Oriko, Sabrina, Mami, and a grudgingly dragged along Homura were sitting in the living room, sharing tea and snacks, and eagerly watching the television, waiting for a certain show to start.

Quite some time had passed since that arduous month leading up to Walpurgisnacht's defeat, and their lives seemed to become even more difficult afterwards, leaving them little time to get together and simply enjoy each other's company.

Sabrina beamed at Homura, simply for the fact she was there. Homura rolled her eyes.

"Can I say," commented Mami, "I'm not certain this is a good idea?"

"Whatever do you mean," asked Oriko, an accusation in her voice.

"No offense, Oriko, but Kirika was not my first pick if I had to choose a Magical Girl for this."

"My dear Kirika wanted to be on T.V." the ex-Seer crossed her arms.

"Hey, chill," called Sabrina, holding Mami closer, "it's starting."

The four Magical Girls turned to watch the screen, which showed a smartly dressed woman sitting on a stage with none other than...

"... And here with me I've got one Kure Kirika, who claims to be one of the 'Magical Girls' who have shaken the world so much these days. Hello, Miss Kure."

"Hello~! And hello to Oriko out there! I know she's watching me."

"Oriko being another Magical Girl?"

"Yup, but Oriko's much more than that!"

Said girl swooned in her seat.

"Before we get side tracked, Miss Kure, could you explain what Magical Girls are? Do you have anything to say to the people claiming for gubernamental control over Magical Girls?"

"Pfft, as if that would do anything. Listen, we Magical Girls are a pretty normal sect, we share hugs and cuddles together, we do each others' nails and hair, we burn Witches together, all normal girly stuff, really."

"Did she just say sect?" murmured Mami, pinching the brindge of her nose.

Sabrina simply nodded, her hair brushing against the blonde's

"Some people have accused Magical Girls and witches of being one and the same."

"No, no, you got it all wrong, see? It's a pun, Magical Girls are Magical Girls, while witches are basically Magical Adults. Yuck. But really, if it wasn't for us, lots more people would be getting killed by Witches every day."

"So Magical Girls can't stop Witches from killing some times?"

"Well, of course not, are you crazy? We need to study, and hang out, have dates and get jobs like everyone else. We can't go around saving people's lives all the time. Plus, fighting Witches is dangerous and nobody pays us for it, you know? Really, people out there want to control us when they should be paying us, that would be a win-win because then being a Magical Girl could be a full time job and we'd save more people. Thankfully it's just a matter of time until things get better."

"Is she..." Sabrina scrunched one eye in a grimace, "Homura, do you think you could pop by there and stop this before it gets out of hand?"

"Just a matter of time? What makes you say that?"

"Well, you know Sabrina, right?"

"Homura?"

Said time traveller held a finger to her lips.

"Vee Sabrina?"

"Eh, she's just Sabrina to her friends, and let me tell you, we're pretty tight, so I know all about her plans to make the world better, by force if necessary! Hihihihihi!"

"Um, seriously-" insisted Sabrina, only to be cut off by a twin glare from Oriko and Homura.

"My Kirika's on TV."

"She's bringing up good points."

Sabrina gaped as the two simply turned back to watch the screen, in complete agreement with each other.

"There's been claims that Miss Vee has taken subversive actions against many governments."

"Pfft, that's nothing. Once Sabrina's done with the world, we'll have a great unified government who'll acknowledge and shelter Magical Girls, and everyone will have a fair wage, that is, within fair lower and higher limits, everyone's gonna have access to health care, education, blah blah blah, there'll be a good economy and all that stuff, and psychiatric care will be mandatory for everyone from the time they're born, and everyone's love lives will work out alright."

"Those are quite the claims to make... what about the rumour that Miss Vee is looking to fashion herself Empress of the World?"

"Hah! As if! Sabrina would be a terrible empress."

Homura, Oriko, and Mami nodded, the blonde cuddling closer to the white haired girl.

"So you deny these claims?"

"Yeah, Sabrina's gonna make
Mami the World Empress."

"You are referring to Tomoe Mami, the Magical Girl many other seem to look up to?"

"Yeah, I'd say her campaign is pretty solid, she's got Sabrina eating out of her hand, she's got some cool looking ringlets, and can kick anyone's ass. Why, the only time I saw her not kick someone's ass was when I first met her, and that's because she didn't even need to, Oriko and I got our asses handed to us before Mami even had time to step in."

"How terrifying, Miss Kure. Are the rumours that Miss Tomoe and Miss Vee beat you and Miss Mikuni-"

"It's Kure now."

"I've been lead to understand-"

"She's. Oriko. Kure. Now. Understood?"

"... I understand, Miss Kure. If I may ask, is it true that the two of you were beaten into submission and forcibly integrated into Miss Tomoe's group against your will?"

"Oh, yeah, sure, it was pretty brutal."

"You do not deny these claims about the people you call friends?"

"Oh, no, we got lots of Stockholm Syndrome."

"Stockholm Syndrome?"

"Yeah, I was pretty angry at first, but they made sure to beat us up within acceptable limits and then were super nice and helped us. Really, Sabrina's told me in confidence about how hard it was to convince Homura to spare our lives, and that there were lots of tears involved, so I'd say she did us a solid, there."

"Miss Akemi was the one who wanted to kill both Miss Kure Oriko and you?"

"Yup. She's such a bitch, no matter how nice her hair is. And after convincing
her, Sabrina had to convince Oriko, which let me tell you, I hear was a pretty harrowing, close thing. I love Oriko and would've supported her no matter what she went for, but I think being alive is pretty nice, so I'm glad we didn't die back th-"

"Ow, ow, ow, stop pulling already, I can walk on my own!" yelled Kirika, as her and Homura suddenly appeared in the middle of the living room.

By way of answer, Homura shoved her, as terrified screams rang out from the television.

"Hey-!"

Kirika's citrine eyes blinked as she bumped into Oriko, the taller girl's arms quickly wrapping themselves around her waist.

"Oriko~!" the crazed Magical Girl smiled a megawatt smile up at her girlfriend, "I was on TV!"

"And you're in trouble," answered Oriko in a non-nonsense tone.

Kirika immediately deflated.

"Noooooooooooooo..." she whined and let herself flop, to be held up only by Oriko's arms. "No faaaaaaair..."

"Well, maybe not too much trouble," smiled Oriko, rubbing a thumb against Kirika's cheek.

"Well, I see the show's over, we'll leave you alone for now," Sabrina quickly looked away while grabbing Mami's and Homura's arms and pulling them away and out the mansion. "Ciao, Oriko, Kirika!"

As the three girls left, a soft muttering was carried by the wind, a sinister whisper from a certain time traveller's lips barely managing to reach the couple inside.

"... dare call me bitch, you're in so much trouble once I..."

The couple shuddered as one, gulped, and sent a nervous look after their retreating friends.

"I'm gonna have to think up more dumb jokes," commented Kirika.

Oriko nodded. "Then we'll invite them for dinner, you do your best brain damaged buddies thing, and we'll use that good will to convince Sabrina to convince Akemi to not take revenge."

"Usually works, right?"

"Right."

With a shared sigh, tension bled off the Kure couple's shoulders, and so they returned to making lovey dovey doe eyes at each other.

"... Kure Kirika kidnapped straight from the stage in front of our eyes, apparently by the Magical Girl secret police force? What will the reperc-"

Oriko turned off the TV.

"There's something wrong about how we pick people for this," commented Mami.

"Shhh," Sayaka waved her off, "it's starting."

The TV blared with a catchy jingle as it revealed the same set as last time, with the same reporter smiling winningly at the cameras.

"Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, we are back! As you all know, Magical Girls are all the rage in this day and age, all the more after our interview with one such Magical Girl, which... brought mixed feelings to the our world's population."

"They're talking about me! I was on TV!" cheered Kirika, smiling up at Oriko from said girl's lap.

"Yes, you were..." The regal girl smiled back, stroking Kirika's hair.

"Not to worry, everyone! We have received thorough confirmation that Magical Girls are not, in fact, satanic demons bent on taking over the world and forcing everyone to worship their Goddess, nor have they a plan to force everyone to act happy, share hugs, and rot their teeth with candy."

Sabrina tsk'd, prompting Mami to pull her closer.

"And today, in order to clear up everything, we have got yet another Magical Girl visiting us, to give us a live interview, so we can put all your worries to rest. Here with me, I got... one Akemi Homura!"

The camera panned to the side, to show an outwardly calm, placid looking Homura, wearing a simple dress and leggings. The Magical Girl of the hour nodded a fraction of an inch, looking for all the world like she was about to die out of sheer boredom.

"God, she's freaking out," commented Sabrina, head resting on Mami's shoulder.

"We really should have picked someone else, huh..." Sayaka blinked, "why didn't we send Mami, or Oriko?"

Everyone looked at the bleunette.

"What?"

"So, Homura, can I call you Homura?"

"No."

"Miss Akemi, everyone wants to know about you-"

Homura's lips contracted in a minute grimace.

"-so before we get into the debacle about the allegedly sinister goals of Magical Girls everywhere, we have a few questions for you, if you don't mind."

"This is not going to go well," commented Oriko, still stroking Kirika's hair. Said black haired girl hmm-d, perhaps affirmatively, perhaps simply enjoying the sensation of her special one's fingers running through her scalp, as she stretched all over Oriko like an oversized, affectionate cat.

On the screen, Homura looked at the reporter who, while possessing quite developed social graces, was not well versed in Homuesse.

"So, Miss Akemi, our sources tell us that you are quite close to-"

Homura's hand curled into a fist.

"-one Vee Sabrina-"

Homura's hand unclenched, the girl relaxing the tiniest bit.

"-who we are hoping to get on our stage at some point, as we've heard she was quite impactful in this secret magic world of yours. In fact, even ignoring the... high tales that have reached us, it seems she was the one who made all this possible. All in all, she seems to be becoming quite the important figure, that will affect out entire world, and you, miss Akemi, seem to be someone miss Vee holds quite dear."

Finally some emotion flashed across Homura's face, so fast you'd blink and miss it.

"It is said that Miss Vee holds you in such high regard, second only to her rumoured girlfriend, Tomoe Mami."

Mami and Sabrina smiled together, snuggling even closer if that was at all possible.

"So tell me, miss Akemi, how is that you have made yourself so important in the eyes of someone who seems posed to shake the world? How is it that you have managed to worm your way into the heart of someone with such influence? You must understand how influential this will make you, how interesting you've become to all of us, though I don't want to downplay your own skills. Yet we all want to know, miss Akemi, how did you get Vee Sabrina to care about you so much?"

Homura stared at the reporter.

Said reporter smiled her best smile, not faltering in front of the immobile girl... not even after the seconds dragged on... the silence stretching and stretching until the breaking point... until her neck started to sweat...

Homura's mouth opened and closed.

"... I don't know," she replied in a tiny voice.

"... Everyone entitled to their secrets!" the reporter laughed just a little nervously. "Moving on, miss Akemi-"

"We're done."

"About the rumours Magical Girls are forming a cult to-"

"We're done."

Homura closed her eyes and vanished.

Terrified screams erupted in the set.

"-VANISHED again just like last time-" "Do not panic, folks-" "THIS IS NOT A TRICK-" "-cult making Magical Girls disappear-" "-Kure Kirika's whereabouts are still unknown-" "-this could happen to you!"

An instant later, Homura sat besides Sabrina and Mami.

Everyone turned to look at her.

"-presidents from all countries of the world are already gathering-"

Oriko turned off the TV.

Homura stared at Sabrina... who slowly, apologetically disentangled herself from Mami.

"Give us a minute, everyone?"

Kirika was already pulling Sayaka out her seat and following Oriko upstairs.

Mami sighed, kissed Sabrina's cheek and stood up, following after.

In a matter of seconds, Sabrina and Homura sat alone. The Grief controller's senses let her know everyone was well out of earshot before she reached out to touch Homura's arm.

A few seconds passed.

"... No timestop?"

Homura shook her head.

Sabrina nodded. Rather than dropping her hand, her arm wrapped itself around Homura's shoulders.

"Let's talk."

I swear, I'm starting to develop a twitch every time I see Sabrina talk about how she's here to fix things. It comes up constantly in her narrative. It's become an obession, and if you remove her from the context that she's an avatar for the thread and treat her like a real character, increadibly concerning.

Watch out world, Sabrina is gonna fix you. It's why she's here. To fix things. Because Sabrina has to fix stuff, or her life has no justification. If she can't fix everyone and everything, she's failed her purpose. It's why she was made. To fix everything.

This is not a healthy mindset.
Clearly, it'd be better if she only cared about herself and the people close to her, allowing the world to rot around her because actually giving a fuck is "unhealthy," trying to fix the world's problems (albeit, as she sees them) is too judgemental and controlling, and putting your mission above your own selfish desires and happiness is a monstrous and inhuman thing to do. [/sarcasm]

I'm very glad we have found some happiness in life, thanks to Mami, but we also weren't wrong before, either. The world is a fucked up place, and just accepting that without trying to fix it is wrong. We still have a mission, and the importance of that mission cannot be understated.

Madoka needs to run Meguca PR.....

Madoka needs to run Meguca PR.....
Oriko would do it, and be totally great at it, but that would kind of ruin the fun.

I mean, if she was doing a good job of it, how could she ever get Kirika and Homura to go on TV to represent the entirety of the world's Magical Girl population?

No, no, better to leave these choices to whatever strange gods like to roll the dice for them...

Clearly, it'd be better if she only cared about herself and the people close to her, allowing the world to rot around her because actually giving a fuck is "unhealthy," trying to fix the world's problems (albeit, as you see them) is too judgemental and controlling, and putting your mission above your own selfish desires and happiness is a monstrous and inhuman thing to do. I don't think I said that at all. I said nothing about judgemental and controlling, or favoring only your circle, or not trying to improve the world. I don't know where you got that from my post. Not much liking the ''albeit as you see them' bit either. Given I haven't expressed any views that way.

My point is that Sabrina seems to be taking it too far. It is not healthy to have a constant mental narrative running about how you have to fix everything and everyone around you.

There was not a problem when she went around talking about solving the grief resource crisis, or establishing a rule of law for MG, or any of that.

There is a problem when the character is confronted with something she can't solve and almost has a mental breakdown because she thinks her only reason for existing is to solve everything and she can't do it.

FLUFF FOR THE FLUFF GOD! HUGS FOR THE HUG THRONE!
-[X] Push magic into the ribbon of the pendant.
--[X] While focusing on your feelings for her.

- [x] Enchanting practice for yourself?
-- [x] Keep trying to make something that can contain grief outside of your direct control range.
Anyway, on the SCIENCE, it looks like it's time for me to put my hypotheses where my mouth is. Specifically, the results we've gotten with emotion enchantment are making me think that we need to back way up on some of the fundamental assumptions we've had about our powers.

Things that we should investigate more closely:
  • Mami can tell the difference between our grief and other grief. This may be related to the way witches in their seeds can identify (and apparently enjoy?) grief that's been enchanted with positive emotions.
  • Enchanting with emotions in the first place.
  • Soul-snuggles.
  • Enchanting requires a particular state of mind, right? I'd be shocked if griefhax didn't have the same kind of thing going on.
  • Our ability to read witch-names is weeeeeird. Not sure how to investigate that, though.
-[] Basic research for yourself. I'm not going to specify particular experiments because the thread will argue about them literally forever and nothing will happen. Even if specific experiments happen, they'd be useless because we could iterate once a day and nothing would get done. Instead, I'll provide basic hypotheses and predictions and Brinapilot can handle experimental design, iteration, and follow-ups and related work on theories that are suggested by her experiments:
--[] Hypothesis: Your emotional state affects your power. Prediction: Some griefhax effects can only be achieved from certain states of mind, or only using grief that can be enchanted with magic of particular emotions. Grief enchanted with different emotions should make particular griefhaxes more or less capable. Grief enchanted with different emotions should make different non-griefhax uses easier or harder or more or less effective.
--[] Hypothesis: Grief and magic are basically the same thing but with different emotions. Prediction: You should be able to enchant magic the same way you can enchant grief. You should be able to imbue grief into objects the same way you imbue magic into things to enchant them.
--[] Hypothesis: "Witchiness", as a detectable thing about Grief, is a state of mind. Prediction: Emotion-enchanted grief should feel different. Grief that we're shaping with intent for different uses should feel different. Different people should perceive Grief differently, especially if our intent for the grief involves the observer.

-[] Some things that are fluffy and vaguely useful, to be run out of our "social fluff" budget rather than our "lolrandom SCIENCE" budget and certainly not out of our actual research budget:
--[] Soul-snuggling Mami gives your power the range of her power. See if the opposite applies - can Mami soul-snuggle you to give her ribbons some control over grief?
--[] Can soul-snuggles "mix" your enchanting abilities together enough that Mami can join you in the commission of griefhax?
--[] Can Mami use grief that you've enchanted? Can Mami enchant grief? Can you do instant-griefhax using grief that Mami has enchanted? Does griefhax with Mami-enchanted Grief make any new effects possible, things like automated cleansing or communications items? Does it allow you to make items that feel less witchy or that don't bother Mami because they belong to her, in the same way that your grief doesn't bother you because it's yours?

Hmm. I would expect Mami's enchantment to behave differently from ours when applied to grief. Her fundamental concept is "Connect", while ours is "Control", after all.

If Mami can enchant our grief in a useful way, rather then augmenting our Control (allowing for instant griefhax), I'd expect her to augment our Connection to it (allowing for control outside our range).

That'd be pretty useful, yeah. Another outcome I could see - the Grief is already controlled, thanks to our power, and Mami's connection allows her to take over or interface with the controlled Grief.

Also, thank you for reminding me to add another item to the list of things to look for: Griefhax using grief that Mami has enchanted should let us do some things that weren't possible before, things like that private telepathy router we've wanted.

Hmm.

What do you think Sayaka's "native" enchantment would be? She wished to be useful, in the context of being like us and helping people instead of being on the sidelines. So... "Emulate"? "Assist"? "Act"?

Just putting in my late two cents on Sabrina's "fix everything" mentality. It's good in the sense that it provides Sabrina with workaholic tendencies directed towards a goal that helps people. That being said, it's bad in a sense in that most of her identity is built on fixing what's wrong with the system, and if a situation ever comes to pass where a situation goes catastrophically wrong that was possibly in Sabrina's ability to prevent, then it's going to hit harder than it would hit most. However, she's not going to hit the worst case scenario because
1.) She won't Witch out from Grief Spiraling unless she outright lets herself.
2.) She actually has a proper support system.

There's also the case of because of her instilled moral system, her desire to "fix everything" won't allow her to go to extremes like the Wings of Magius did in the Magia Record verse. Funnily enough, Sabrina and the Wings of Magius actually have the opposite problems and each others' solutions. Sabrina essentially has a way to bootstrap infinite amounts of energy via the exploitation of magic, magic producing grief, and her powers over grief. That being said, she doesn't have a way to actually get rid of the fact that Magical Girls turn into Witches outside of the use of Grief Seeds or her being there. The Wings of Magius have a system that prevents Magical Girls from turning into Witches over a limited area, but require incredibly large amounts of magical energy/grief to extend their system over the entire world, which is a good portion why they go to horrible extremes in the first place. Granted, this is taking into account that there isn't some other hidden truth to how the Doppel system works.

Not addressding you particularly, but your post is there so quoting you anyway.

I think Sabrina's mostly healthy. She has problems when she doesn't feel in control, and when she fails at something, but at least she's stayed on the side of keeping herself in check so far, when such problems arised.

I don't think the 'fix fix fix' mentality is a problem... Sabrina does enjoy her time doing things other than looking for problems to fix and ways to fix those problems. She can enjoy a day lazying off if no problems show up to kick her on the teeth, even though she knows there's horrible problems abound that she needs to get around to fixing.

It might simply be her identity. Someone who tries to make things better. Then it's natural for her to look for things to fix, or rather, for people to help.

If she were to achieve fixing everything she wanted to, until there was nothing else, I could see her calling it a good job, taking a vacation, and then looking for new problems to 'fix' when she got bored.

That is all to say, Sabrina has an ocupation, maybe a vocation. Something to dedicate herself towards. But she also got the things you said, a proper support system. Lots of her emotions rest on her friends, and she balances her need to fix things, with her needs towards enjoying her time with her friends.

I think Sabrina's fine.

Walk into a research lab, find a relatively young tenured professor, and talk to them for a while about their motives. Do the same with a really senior software engineer or programmer - they'll often have a name like "principal architect". Or hunt down the founder of a successful startup, especially if they've carried their startup through to IPO or some other key success state. Almost every time you'll find someone that is nearly as focused on their work as Sabrina. They don't have her certainty of purpose or her power and presence, all of which Sabrina has in nearly-supernatural quantity, but they will be just as driven as Sabrina is, their motives just as sharp and all-encompassing. And it's not like they're "unhealthy". It turns out that there's just nothing you can do to stop that mindset, which is one of the reasons you find it represented so heavily in those demographics. You can kill their product or bankrupt their startup or wreck their research, but they'll just find something new to do and keep doing it. Stopping Sabrina so thoroughly that she can't find a new direction to go in would require a situation so bad as to constitute a bad end. And if Sabrina succeeds, she'll just move on to the next thing, even if it's moving sideways into another universe or fixing the rest of the universe.

i like the grief experiment updates the most. i find the story most interesting when sabrina's exploring the nature of the system. we haven't figured out mysteries such as thefeathers or the unusual soul or sayaka calling sabrina's power a null copy. then there were descriptions of how weilding grief magic works compared to normal magic which make them sound like a sort of Saidin/Saidar type duality system.

There's hope flavored magic. Are there different flavors of grief? there are so many questions to ask about the magic system tbh. Seems odd to to me to not prioritize understanding the very paradigm of the system we're so keen on warping/breaking a bit more.

I know it's a long shot either way, but I really, really, reaaaaaaally want to get Oriko in a privacy bubble, promise to keep everything said in complete confidence, free of repercussions... and ask if she's kept anything from us.

If she said no, that would finally put my doubts about whether the Feathers threat actually exists or not, to rest. >_>

Just, you know, those little nagging thoughts you keep at the back of your mind just for caution's sake.

If someone was talking about fixing the world while spending their time solving Malaria in Africa or something I'd take that as a sign they had passion, not that something was wrong with them.

the meaning of the feathers seem like the ultimate mystery but also seem far less immediately discernable than most. there're a great deal of questions to ask which could more quickly or with less time investment paint a picture of the setting.

if the goal is to fix the system, why start with something as complex as raising a witch back to a magical girl or human? break it down into parts or steps and analyze a necessary tech tree/web, then make the first step your goal.

if the goal is to figure out the feathers, then there are exactly 2 data points. either you figure out something from oriko, which could require a lot of time (compare all her memories of the feathers and try to determine any commonalities?), or you try to figure out why sabrina apparently made one. is it a byproduct of witch magic? there's a whole possible tree of info and grief magic there, but we got spooked by it uber hard. ultimately the two data points intersect with the apparent timeline shift which led to sayaka being attacked, and a whole can of worms there such as the possibility that the time shift's cause and potential goals (making sayaka want to contract?).

then there's the question of souls and magic and all that nonsense that might involve the grief seeds and rionna and sayaka's mini gems.

literally pages could be devoted to bringing up all the different politics which need to be explored/confronted eventually.

then there're developments to be made in sabrina's personal life and questions of who she is and what she is.

all this and more and people wanna invest time into manipulating hammers. at that point just ask kyouko for lessons.
