i feel like most of the stresses of moving are tied to paperwork, money, time crunches, difficulties transporting things, etc. none of those should really be issues for the kures, no? and anything which might be an issue is relatively easier to deal with than for a normal couple because magic is bs.

"I'm OK," you tell Mami with a soft smile. "Just keeping Nadia updated, that's all."

"Be honest about it," Nadia says. "It is what I will do. You do not want to let her kind stand. So, you did something. If someone is afraid of you for that, then that is their problem."

"I don't want to scare people off from coming to Mitakihara, especially if they're in need," you say. "And I don't want people coming after me because of rumours that I take down people at my own whims."

"Hah!" Nadia snorts. "That is not a concern. The fact that you do not automatically attack people already sets you apart, fimti? Welcoming people? A rarity, if people are in need or want to come, they will. This will not scare them, and if they want to attack to steal you away, this may persuade them otherwise."

"I... that's fair," you say, hesitating for a second. You're not sure whether you should bring up Kyuubey stirring shit up, but this is something that -unlike Rionna- she must be well aware of. "Is there anything I should do?"

"No?" Nadia says. You can hear the audible shrug in her voice. "It is not like there is a press for you to give a statement to, fimti?"

"... yeah, that's true," you say. "Thanks, Nadia."

"You are welcome," Nadia says. "I apologise for the poor information."

She disconnects, and you sigh. Mami's fingers pause for a moment in your hair.

"No, just... well, Nadia," you say. "I mean, I guess I can't blame her for not being omniscient, but still. If I'd known ahead of time..."

Y'know, Firn, this reads kinda weird. Like there's something missing on Mami's part in it.

"I didn't do much," Mami says, returning the smile, soft and warm.

"I..." you pull yourself upright, one hand on the back of the sofa, and shift so that you're facing Mami properly. You take a breath, and smile at her. "Mami, I've been thinking. Or, well, the pendant, the things you've said about what I've done for you... it got me thinking."

This also seems a tad strange although I think that's largely my own fault. Given the context it definitely would have been more natural to start by responding with a negation to Mami's saying that she didn't do much, but, well, perhaps that's the downside to the vote's format. Not much of a problem given the outcome.

Huh. I mean I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same rule for mansions; I keep hearing over here in America that once you get above a certain price bracket on houses, people are more likely to want to just build their own fancy dream house, and not buy someone else's. Which makes life difficult to sell one of said houses, mnyah. But that concept combined with land-scarcity or rules about how much land you need/want to build on means I could definitely see the bulldoze-everything-and-rebuild thing extending to mansions.

"Anime styled? This is realism? Are you okay?"
Sabrina takes a good look everyone.

Then she finally realizes everyone's drawn in different styles.

Mami's drawn in realistic western style.

Kirika's drawn like a Jojo character.

Ono looks right out of Paper Mario.

Sayaka's yellow skinned and has only 3 fingers per hand rather than 4.

Homura looks suspiciously like her anime self.

Kyouko's roughly drawn in crayon.

Yuma's a Chibi.

Madoka looks like a RL person.

Sabrina, trembling, looks at her own hands... and finds them drawn...

A) Okami style.
B) Gothic, stretched out.
C) Psychedelic blobs of paint style.
D) High graphics 3D.

[A] Okami style.
What other choice is there, when our thing is helping people, one step at a time?

Incidentally, I am a bit closer to the glory of Tomoe Mami. It may not be a musket, but, well, I now have a Springfield Trapdoor-style rifle, which is basically what one gets if they take a musket and alter it to use cartridges.

We're the flashy new outsider who just seems a little off, after all.

Hmm. Here's an idea. Can we try to griefhax our grief into the "primed" state we normally reach through enchantment?

Doing it this way, if it's possible, would have the downside of making the grief read as witchy, and wouldn't let us multitask while we prime it. On the other hand, I think that grief primed in this way might stay primed, instead of turning back into normal grief when the enchantment wears off.

But what if Grief primed in this way is itself Witchy? :thonk:

I had to take a few minutes just to think about this.

Basically, you're trying to cheat the trance time... by doing it once and having it work more than once?

Instead of:

Trance -> Witchy Object -> Break.

Would be:

Trance -> Primed Grief -> Witchy Object -> Primed Grief -> Witchy Object -> Primed Grief -> Witchy Object -> Primed Grief -> Witchy Object ... -> Primed Grief -> Witchy Object -> Break.

Hm. To start with, when we turn Primed Grief into a Magic Object, can we undo the transformation and regain the Primed Grief? I do not clearly remember, if we've even tried. It seems like the obvious thing to try, but Sabrina has this habit of just destroying her magical gizmos as soon as she's done with them. :V

I could see your proposal not working, on the ground that it cheats the fact the Primed Grief works by dint of Sabrina putting effort into it. But I could also see it work because fuck rules, we got faux witch magic, it's our domain.

But what if Grief primed in this way is itself Witchy? :thonk:
It would be, but there would still be an advantadge.

We could, for example, before a fight, prepare some Witchy Primed Grief, then during that fight turn that Grief into something we need, then unmake that once we no longer need it, and use the Grief for another purpose.

It would basically be recycling our (false, Witchy) enchantments.

EDIT: Ninja'd on this bit.

Still, POWER OF RECYCLING! RECYCLING DESPAIR!

Uh, yeah, it'd obviously be witchy. But it'd mean that in situations where we expect prolonged combat, we could just prime all our grief relatively quickly and keep it ready to use repeatedly for truly ludicrous bullshit at-will.
Oh btw, if we do this and it works, we need the Witchy Primed Grief to have this symbol imprinted:

"I'm just a girl who's a meguca for fun."
...Ow, right in the feels.

I feel like this would have the same intent as an enchantment booster, right? Just one specialized for setting up grief?
