(In general, I sometimes think SV has a weird phobia of relationships between characters. Everyone's apparently asexual, or they're really just close friends, or they couldn't possibly think about a relationship until 9/10 certified psychologists approve. I understand the concerns - often there are very good reasons involved - but suppressing people's feelings is a dangerous road to travel.)

I think I may have been looking at different quests than you have. In the ones I've seen, characters are more likely to exist in a state of enlightened polyamory, or just man the cannons and start pushing some standard ships.

Are you serious? Everyone's always in a rush to push characters together. This is the only quest I've seen where people are willing to wait on it, both IC and OOC.

BASQUE.

Well, what about having Brina tell Mami that she likes her? Would that be OK?

We're supposedly being more honest, so I'd like Brina to be a little more open with her feelings, including the part where she's not ready for romance, but vocalizing how much she likes Mami, still...

I think it'd be good for Mami.

I will freely opine that we should just spend a bit of time being blatantly affectionate but not romantic-level affectionate towards her. Initiate hugs. Tell her how wonderful she is. Communicate the fact that we like her for her via methods that don't involve saying "I like-like you." Be blatant about it, but not straight-up.

See what happens, eh?

(My vote is an implementation of this)

There's very easy ways for Sabrina to hear about non-skeevy things that happen on that front. I only mentioned the excessively persistent guys because they would be coming even if they've already been told no in the past. To our knowledge, nothing is stopping a guy from making a polite attempt.

Also, Sabrina is there for the majority of the time that Mami is at school and not in class, which are the main times that any guys would try to approach her, and is frequently taking with Mami during the day, and thus likely to find out if anyone is pestering her.

Also, there's no freaking way that Madoka and/or Sayaka wouldn't comment on it if they saw any guys approach her.

You're overthinking things way too much. Mami already rejects overtures of friendship from mundane people at school for a while now from what I know. The same probably goes for romance. She's probably just known to be "unavailable" or something.

Anyway, this topic is getting tiring so on to votes!

[X] Wake Mami up, if she isn't already awake once you're up.
-[X] Cheerfully telepath "Good Morning" to just Sayaka.
[X] Don't suggest the ribbon thing yourself, but if she asks, accept once more.
-[X] If you play reassuring music to show you're there, don't play Credens Justitiam. Might associate with the Metabomb right now.
[X] Make breakfast together.
-[X] While making breakfast, don't push, but inquire about what we're making for the picnic, and how that works for the schedule.
-[X] During breakfast, do your usual "Good Morning Mitakihara" thing.
--[X] If scheduled cooking/baking time permits, confirm morning training with Sayaka. Keep the session relatively short.
---[X] Once more, time permitting, see if you can fit 30 minutes - 1 hour of personal SCIENCE with Mami before Sayaka's training session.
[X] After breakfast, contact Nagisa's uncle and extend an official invitation.

I couldn't resist.:V

I honestly feel we could and should do something different from yesterday this morning. We should actively try to engage Mami from the moment she's awake.

And the good morning Mitakihara... It's a weekend, people. Let the seikyu sleep in for once. We can tell her we telepathied her and she didn't pick up, then imply that it was because she was preoccupied with Qwijibo.

Re:Mami and suitors, I'm fairly certain I read in something that people stopped trying to spend time with Mami because she kept declining them for over a year.

I am admittedly worried that our current Mami Policies (Hug, Reassure, Hug More, Eternal Warmth and Tolerance and Kindness Forever) are not actually helping her grow into her own and only making her more dependent on us.

The accurate solution to this so far as I know is to actively reassure / hug / tolerate without being prompted to do so. Tell her she's valued without being asked. Etc.

You want to make sure you're not providing positive reinfircement only when the circumstances are negative.

I don't think the ribbon ever came off.

[x] Wait for Mami to wake up, if she isn't already awake once you're up. Keep her hugged the whole time.
[x] Daily ablutions.

As long as we are driving, any relationship would be on unequal terms (one is a minor, the other has the knowledge and foresight of dozens of probably-mature minds).

We are manipulative by design. We are powerful beyond most, have privileged knowledge and we can think for days what takes instants. Our memory is perfect. Not good, perfect. Our every action is deliberated, and we can craft our thoughs to a very high degree.

So, I think anything we do beyond saving the magical girls would be spotty at best, unfairly manipulative at worst. If we are talking about relationships.

Most of the time they're trainwrecks, though. Just look at Homura and Madoka's relationship. And they're not even actually together! And it's still uncomfortable as hell. Considering that this is first-person and the one being unhealthily depended on is us (Sabrina if you want to get technical).
Yes, HomuMado isn't completely healthy. Yes, it's a borderline train wreck (although that has a lot to do with issues other than their personalities).

Despite that, I ship it. Their issues can be sorted out, but love's not going anywhere. That doesn't mean they should avoid any kind of relationship until they've both fixed all their problems...just that they need to be aware, and work through those issues together.

That really doesn't mean anything. You're grasping at straws here. The only person she shows any remote interest in is Sabrina despite being surrounded by girls. So instead of being into girls, clearly she's just into Sabrina.:V
Fair.

The reason I want to explicitly do the "turn her around" bit of my vote is because we're going to need a new sleeping setup that lets us hug Mami while preserving our nightly Super Mumihug, but I have no idea if such a setup could conceivably be comfortable, hence a need for a trial run.

Other than that... Let's flat-out not with the music, it's something goofy we do, rather stick with just serious honest affection. I'd apply the same reasoning to the maid behavior.

What I've found personally is that there's a time for being goofy and a time for being straight-serious about the other person being valued and affection existing. I believe that this remains mostly the latter, at least in the aftermath of Mami waking up -- something of a need to reaffirm shit after last night. I'd want to be serious but light regarding the more important decision making process and then goofy about the actual execution -- put on the maid dress before we start cooking and ask if "the lady would like for us to crack the eggs or sort the rice" but stay fairly serious for the actual question of what we'll be making. Keep it obvious that we're absolutely serious about wanting to do this for her, be goofy with the actual doing.

That has bothered me for a while now. As 'developed' as Mami is you'd think the boys would be throwing themselves at her.

I had a discussion with Firn about this off-board; he didn't say exactly what the background on this for PMAS was, but my thoughts were that Mami realizes that those people don't see her for her and thus don't count in her eyes (they don't actually like me or care about me, they're just pervs that want to see my chest), for the same reasons that her muggle friends in the sidestory comics (who consider themselves her friends) don't count because they don't understand what she's going through, and she feels she can't tell them.

Shallow relationships don't really "count" insofar as Mami's loneliness is concerned.

Remember that we've still got to help Kirika and me Oriko.

Not really, no. Girl's never shown any interest in any male, despite being in the middle of puberty.

If she doesn't swing that way, she's probably asexual...which, admittedly, might make sense, considering she's been a rock for years.

Mami basically admits in the show that she avoids romance out of a sense of duty. Something like "magical girls don't have time for dates".

Unfortunately, Brina's only tried doing stuff with her Grief without looking once, and it didn't go very well.
Er, Sabrina does stuff with her grief without looking all the time. Whenever she's moving her big stores of grief around rooftops without looking, for instance. Or when she's playing grief instruments without looking at them. Or with Mecha Gurren Zilla Laggen (sp?), where she was controlling it without being able to see more than a small fraction of it.
