That's not something we're too bad at for now, but we'll need to improve eventually and it would help a bit already, so that could work, yes.

On that line, we can go for:

A: Haste effect granter

B: Reflexes enhancer

C: Teleporter

D: Hyperdrive

Then, we've got wings, but I still want to create an autopilot backpack and there are still other movement modes we can go for. Maybe something that allows us to phase through objects?

However, I still say that we need to focus on stuff that might help Oriko. This also includes meta-constructs as they can increase the speed with which we discover new abilities to help Oriko and data-acquisition testing as it might help us learn more clues about how to help Oriko.

No, no, I meant the idea of enchanting something to move grief.

There was the idea of using Grief clouds to 'see'. If we have perfect proprioception, we theoretically could 'see' what we're doing as long as every surface we work with is coated in Grief.

Have Homura try Mami's guns!

*cue 4 hours and three pots of tea being used as Homura advises Mami on ergonomics and design of firearms*

Mami: That was a pleasant discussion Homura - please feel free to visit again.
Homura: .. *blinks* ... thank... you.

Sabrina: *glomps them both*

[X] Wait for Mami to wake up. Keep her hugged the whole time.
-[X] When she wakes up, give her a little time to gain some lucidity, then nudge her into flipping over so she's facing you. Maintain the hug constantly.
--[X] Ask what she wants for breakfast. When she inevitably wavers and asks what you want, inform her that you want her to have what shewants and (playfully) that you'll not allow her to stand in the way of Mami Tomoe enjoying her Breakfast to the Utmost Extent.
---[X] If she drops some line about getting the most enjoyment out of seeing you happy, inform her that an impasse has developed because the same is true from your point of view, and why don't you just resolve it by having what she really wants for breakfast. You insist.
----[x] Playfully ruminate out loud about whether a maid outfit is appropriate when preparing food for the inimitable Lady Tomoe.
-----[x] Mood permitting, go full maid.

[X] While making breakfast, don't push, but inquire about what we're making for the picnic, and how that works for the schedule.
-[X] During breakfast, do your "Good Morning Mitakihara" thing.
--[X] If scheduled cooking/baking time permits, confirm morning training with Sayaka. Keep the session relatively short.
[X] After breakfast, contact Nagisa's uncle and extend her an official invitation.

On that line, we can go for:

A: Haste effect granter

B: Reflexes enhancer

C: Teleporter

D: Hyperdrive

A). I'm all for examining our abilities to manipulate time. We're probably limited to affecting just our 100m bubble, but Haste should be doable. That said, as a high-intensity physics manipulation, I'd expect a hefty creation time, on par with a barrier. (30 minutes). So given time constraints, I don't think it's a good candidate for the next science session.

B). We already made this with the melee combat harness. No further testing required.

C). Again, this is almost certainly limited to within our 100m range. While we probably can make a spacial gate through a similar process to making a barrier, I doubt it'll be at all useful unless we make a metaconstruct to deal with long creation times.

D). Anticipate long trance, not immediately useful. Vetoed.

I'm gonna vote for this because I find it heretical not to.

[X] When you wake up, try to disentangle yourself from Mami without waking her up.
-[X] If you can, become Maidbrina and make breakfast, then bring breakfast to bed. Use the fact you can manipulate Grief to hold as many trays as you need in place.
--[X] Make sure everything's covered as to keep its temperature.
--[X] Then climb back to bed and hug Mami until she wakes up.
--[X] When she does, play at being maid, but make sure Mami knows you're just having fun.
-[X] If you can't disentangle, just hug the Mumi.

Though I do think it'll be good for Mami and Brina to make things together, since they enjoy it.

The vote probably can be shortened a lot.

[ ] Make sure Mami wakes up to hugs.
-[ ] Then laze in bed together and talk.
--[ ] Breakfast, ask Mami what she wants. Insist in making whatever she wants, but be playful, not pushy.
--[ ] Cakes and other stuff for picnic?
--[ ] Training time for Sayaka?
-[ ] Actually do get up and start the day after you're done lazying around.

You mean something that moves grief outside our range? (Yes, I want that a lot too)

Oh, I agree that these are not high enough priority to take the opportunity cost of this session. I still want to do meta-constructs to reduce opportunity cost.

why do we need such long votes for making breakfast and mami hugs?!

;____;

The following is a past winning plan from my favorite quest, Marked for Death. (Spoilers, so don't look to close at the details, since this quest is definitely worth it)

Second, the "accept our prize for our hard political work" plan. Suggestions, additions, and critique are welcome. I've refined it a bit from the protoplan, so please read through this even if you read the protoplan. I don't plan on changing the plan's broad goals (de-escalate, keep Keiko's word and contract if possible), but am happy to improve methods or add contingencies and whatnot. Given what happened this update, I'd far prefer to have too many contingencies than too few.

Note that this action plan has several points where we are not actually going to follow Takahashi's ruling e.g. Kouta responses, lethal force responses, not splitting up (aside from Keiko), not letting Akane take punishment regardless what happens for the Kouta situation.

Edit: Added suggested edits. This plan no longer supports brinkmanship.

[X] Action Plan: Summon Seekers
We've maneuvered ourselves into having some pseudo-allies with the elders, and it's resulted in the offer Takahashi gave us. Let's take it (and investigate it) and settle down, do some research, have Keiko train the summon technique, and stop all our overt attempts at politics. This achieves our primary objectives of interaction with the village. We just need to deal with our final problem, specifically, Kouta. Let's de-escalate and go from there.

Overall idea: De-escalate and support Keiko's decision. Everything else is details.

Goals:
  1. Survive
  2. Prevent hostilities from breaking out
  3. Learn Summoning
  4. Perform Seal and Jutsu Research.
Methods:
  1. De-escalate situation with Kouta
    1. Stop Kagome from murdering people right now
      1. Call out to him saying this doesn't warrant a hostile (explosive) response
      2. If he doesn't immediately respond, physically stop him, use MEW to protect village ninja if he attacks.
    2. Let Kouta and the others run away, we're not going to go after them
      1. Yell out to Kouta calling him a traitor for trying to hurt us a second time.
    3. If someone asks, insist that it was not our fault, they'll need to wait to talk to our sensei once she and us have rejoined to sort things out. Tell them to check to see if the cut is lethal or not. Reassure them if Akane or us had wanted Kouta dead we wouldn't have given him a shallow, non-lethal cut.
    4. When back at the fort, give Akane a hug and tell her that it wasn't her fault (because it wasn't), and that Kouta is just a terrible person.
    5. Send a "something happened, return, but it's not an immediate need signal" once we are back in our fort.
  2. When Inoue gets back, abide by Takahashi's ruling on the Kouta situation, so long as it doesn't involve punishing Akane. Insist that Akane didn't do anything wrong.
    1. Suggest that Kouta is a hotblooded idiot trying to stir up trouble. If Takahashi doesn't care what we do with Kouta,
    2. Relinquish Kouta from our care. We want nothing to do with him. Warn him and others that he is not to approach us again or else there will be consequences.
  3. When Yoshida or Gasai eventually seeks us out, have Inoue talk with her about it. Work with her and Takahashi to de-escalate tensions. Don't break our word to Takahashi. Leave Akane and Kagome at the fort if we have a choice --> ask Akane to keep Kagome from murdering people while we're gone.
  4. The next day, have Inoue talk with Takahashi sensei to sensei
    1. Try to make sure Takahashi is legit.
    2. Thoroughly vet Takahashi and his family. We're ok stepping out of politics, but we need reassurance he's not going to backstab us, and that we're getting what we came for.
      1. We want to know why he accepted Keiko.
    3. Figure out explicitly what it is Takahashi is ok with us doing (and do our best to honor that, so long as our safety isn't compromised)
    4. Explain we're not willing to just die for Takahashi, so we'll have a clear policy: if something happens, we'll warn people with an explosive, then try to take them out non-lethally.
  5. Assuming Takahashi is reasonably legit, have Keiko go for lessons with Takahashi.
    1. Encourage her when she's back, congratulate her on successfully completing the mission and being super brave.
    2. Give her an escort there and back in the mornings and evenings. Akane babysits Kagome and Inoue, Noburi, and Hazou go with her.
  6. While Keiko is with Takahashi, have a chat with Inoue about how to check for and combat persuasion, brainwashing, replacement, or possible mistraining.
  7. Have Kagome investigate the summon technique skill scroll. Look for suspicious things. He's clearly mildly knowledgeable about summons (knew they popped when killed), have him make sure Keiko's not screwing herself.
  8. Have Akane lay low and not leave the fort, the village hates her. Don't let her go places alone, preferably stay in the fort.
  9. Have a group chat about our experience with politics. Debrief on where we are now, things we did well, things we didn't expect, ways to improve, etc. Be cheery.
  10. Observe Keiko, look for oddities in her behavior
    1. Changes in her confidence
    2. Changes in her view towards the village
    3. Changes in her breathing
    4. Changes in her talking patterns
    5. Have Noburi give her regular medical checkups (don't want tapeworms after-all)
    6. If Inoue thinks it appropriate, interrogate Keiko using her memory erasing jutsu about her training.
Contingencies:
  1. If anyone talks to us, before we meet up with Noburi Inoue and Keiko, Hazou is point-person. Placate, don't promise anything, get back to the fort.
  2. If combat breaks out, hold nothing back, win. Reassess at that point, but be prepared to retreat into the forest and rig the fort to explode as we leave.
  3. Maintain basic explosive communication system:
    1. Two quick explosives followed by one later means meet at fort at earliest convenience
    2. Two quick explosives followed by two quick explosives means meet at fort immediately
    3. Three quick explosives followed by one later means meet at forest fallback at earliest convenience
    4. Three quick explosives followed by two quick explosives mean meet at forest fallback immediately
    5. Single explosive is used as warning
    6. Any other use of explosives means battle is engaged: disengage and support
  4. If someone comes to our fort for healing or talking, indulge them, be courteous, don't wander away from the fort, make a less-trapped building near the fort if it becomes common. Otherwise, keep to ourselves (unless Takahashi asks us to do something else). Don't offer sparring.
  5. If Kouta approaches us again, be aware, and subdue him. Don't let him rejoin our group unless Takahashi orders us to, and even then, don't let him out of Inoue's sight while with us.
  6. If we receive strong evidence of Takahashi betraying us, giving Keiko wrong training ect, be prepared to explode his house when we pick up Keiko.

This has since become a fairly standard plan length on the thread.

Don't talk to me about long plans.

I have had LITERAL orders in the military shorter then that.

Right, but sadly gasous grief has some corrosive properties. That is one of the reasons why we carry it around as marbles (or rather basketballs nowadays).

I suppose we could use lots of smaller grief marbles, but that leads to its own problems.

Sabrina: "It works! I can feel stuff. It's sort of low resolution, but it totally works."
*Cut to Sayaka stumbling around. Where her head would usually be is a dense cloud of grief marbles*
Sayaka: *annoyed* "...Sabrina, can we talk?"

'Sabrina, did you have to fill my mouth with Grief marbles?'

"Yes."

'I'd be choking if I needed to breathe right now.'

"Hey, you didn't want to eat marbles, you should've kept your mouth shut."

'Damn it, Sabrina.'

There's more than one kind of teleportation. If we just tell our Grief to "move me instantly to X location," it might be able to change our location without having to open a portal outside of our range.

It's worth testing. We can even try with an object first, although I think our chances are higher with self-teleportation.

He does have a point though, Sabrina might develop an OCD of trying to always make elaborate plans for even the tiniest thing.

That too....

I also worry the expansive votes keep participation down - we have had people most who posts what % of plans. It's very lopsided, and while we have plenty of overall input I sometimes think we have lurkers that don't post anything due to being daunted by the effort needs to MAKE a proposal.

Again, it's not actually that elaborate a plan.

It's literally: make Mami look at me, playfully "bully" her into telling me what she wants for breakfast. Oh and Must Hugs because Hugs Yes.

That too....

Results of having everything be a write-in...?

I'm concerned that that kind of instant translocation might deconstruct our baryonic body and replace it with a grief facsimile.

I feel slightly conflicted about the maid thing. On one had, it's funny. On the other, doing it with just Mami around feels kind of weird. Aren't maid outfits suppose to be a fetish for some people?

I'd feel better just being over the top formal while being normally dressed, really. Transforming will put Mami on-edge, anyway, and we want to keep this low key and mundane. I'll remove the outfit from my vote once I zzzzzzzzzz.
