I have openly considered sleeping in a timestop between now and then. I am beginning to think that that is going to be more than a joke scenario.
Edit: I have to get off for... either ~45m or the night. If thread comes up with a complete critiqued vote in the meantime, we can just shift the entire wagon onto it? I like @Redshirt Army simplification, but it lacks a couple of @Sereg's suggestions if nothing else.

The 'I didn't have a choice' is more about how, at quest start, we didn't really know how much of our metaknowledge was valid for this verse (we still don't really know), how it might alienate others, and what would KB do if it found out.
Saying we had a choice is kind of like saying everybody has a choice to shoot themselves in the foot...
And I think any 'short and to the point' answer should get something like a 1000 extra points to it as a start to this vote; even thought it's hard to give a concise, fast answer to Mami's 'question', I think it's necessary in order to keep her from lashing out further while we're trying to explain.
(Also we totally decided to forgo secrecy in Perditur Systema. How'd that pan out?

Given what we knew then, at the beginning, we might not have been able to make a better choice. But answering "Why?" with "I didn't have a choice." feels like we're trying to dodge any blame. It becomes clear after a few sentences that we're not, and that later we definitely did have more of a choice, but we shouldn't open so defensively.
And in the interest of getting as quickly as possible to the "more than a friend" part, these lines should be merged:

Voting principles - all valid Metabomb votes must, in my eyes, meet these standards.
• We shouldn't lie, through omission, implication, or otherwise, during the metabomb.
• The vote should be concise, and we should be ready for it to be interrupted very early on if Mami reacts unpredictably.
• The vote should answer Mami's question/plea of "Why?".
Through thread consensus, it was determined that the honest answer to why we initially didn't tell Mami was:
• QB Interdicted Knowledge
• It's pretty weird, okay?!?
Unfortunatly, the exact moment Mami became cleared for knowledge that must not reach QB is the moment she got traumatized, so we put off the Metabomb until we thought she wouldn't snap when we told it to her. And then stuff just kept piling up: Feathers and Sayaka and Oriko's soul imploding...
So the current vote tries to hit all those points and phrase an honest explanation in a way that keeps Mami as calm as we can manage. Suggestions welcome, but time grows ever shorter.
