I don't think Kyubey goes that far. The idea that Kyubey causes car accidents and church excommunications is not only comical, but it takes agency for Bad Shit Happening away from humans. It's wanting to turn everything into an external enemy you can fight and reject. Mami's parents died because someone wasn't watching the road. Kyouko's family suffered because people crave the familiar over change.

Kyubey doesn't cause these incidents. He just feeds on them like a disgusting vulture. He sees the rotting scraps of the damaged and the dead and pulls the meat off the bone for his own benefit. He sees you hurting, and he twists his claw in the injury and adds salt for flavor.
And uses you when you have hit rock bottom.

Expanding on this: if the Incubators could take this much agency away from humanity then they wouldn't even bother with Earth at all: they'd set up Dyson Spheres around several stars, harvest hundreds of thousands of eggs from human girls, clone them into the hundreds of trillions, and mass-produce humans to exploit for Wishes. The only reason Earth is important at all is because it must be for some reason: maybe when the Incubators tried tooling up for the mass-production model ten thousand years ago it didn't work because the mass-produced humans lacked enough Karma to make a Wish?

It's important to keep in mind that the Incubators do not have emotions; that means they do not feel empathy and care nothing for quality of life. At the same time, they're not really evil, per se; they just have priorities that don't include maximizing human values at all, in particular because they classify humanity as livestock rather than peers. Getting angry at them, or for that matter being vindictive or antagonistic as Sabrina has in-thread so far, is completely counter-productive: they are vastly stronger than we are, have an iron grip on the entire planet's infrastructure, and cannot be goaded into making a mistake due to anger or frustration. The Incubators need to be dealt with as pragmatically as possible, because you can bet they'll be dealing with us in exactly that fashion.

They use Potential.

There's no potential to humanity if the Incubators arrange everything around them, so KB effectively can't engineer situations where a potential would be forced to make a contract beyond what we see it do normally.

I do not know why you decided to make this comparison.

Because 3 edgy 5 you. It's Knightfall's whole MO.

Yeah that's a little much.

You brought it here.

Nobody disputes that. However there was absolutely no reason to use the comparison you did except to troll.

well, this is going to make Sabrina's thoughts next update... odd(er).

No, you stupid "Show Ignored Content" button, I am NOT coming anywhere near you!
Nuh uh!
Ignorance is bliss!
Good night!

Yep, shouldn't have :V

Giving KB too much credit there. KB is opportunistic.

It getting attached to Madoka is simple due to Madoka's exceptional potential.

True.

It used the injuries inflicted by Homura to make Madoka feel protective of it. Which helped hamper Homura's already poor attempts to discourage Madoka from wishing.

Though on the other hand, it informed Kyoko about Mami's death and how her territory was now guarded by a new magic girl. QB already new that Madoka would likely be with Sayaka during her patrols. Which sett up a fight between Kyoko and Sayaka it knew that Madoka would try to stop. Until Homura interrupted.

On a more paranoid note - QB know where and when Sayaka visits the hospital. It could of waited until a suitable girl, Nagisa, arrived and trick into wishing and then having her witch out. QB seemed a bit insistent that they wish instead of going for Mami like they did. I did find it suspicious that a witch seed would appear when the pair were at the hospital at the same moment.

Great. Now I am worried about Nagisa. When was the last time we saw her?

Kyubey really has no reason to bother with manipulating the situation to create disasters. It's far easier and more efficient to just locate any of the countless naturally-occuring disasters that befall young females than to create new ones.

Madoka is, of course, the exception.

We are not having Mami get Mogued by Nagisa.

The Incubators have a non-intervention policy pretty heavily implied through every mention of Kyubey's ethics. "We treat you better than cattle nener nanner boo boo."

Madoka: Words words, words. Words words!
Kyuubey: We treat you better than cattle nener nanner boo boo.
Homura: *Timeloops*

@Slith10 Muse says thanks.

Just a random bit of stuff.

Madoka: Words words, words. Words words!
Kyuubey: We treat you better than cattle nener nanner boo boo.
Homura: *Timeloops*
*SHIIIING!*

*CLANK!*

Homura's eyes widen.

Sayaka grins in answer, her arm extended into a lunge, ending into a one of her trademark cutlasses -piercing through Homura's shield.

The shield creaks pitifully, gears stuck.

"I've noticed," comments Sayaka, her blue eyes staring over her arm at Homura's violet ones, "that you rely way too much on that thing."

Homura frowns.

"Indeed," irrupts a new voice. The black haired girl starts, looking up as-

-With a graceful mid-air spin, Mami lands behind Homura.

"While it might be very useful," she continues as if she hadn't just jumped off a building, "you go for your Shield too often, and not just for its secondary ability..."

A little gasp escapes Homura's lips. Her eyes narrow, mental gears working overdrive...

She shakes her head, denial set in her features.

"You shouldn't know-" her voice trembles.

"Yeah, this is an intervention," Sabrina walks in, munching on some pocky.

Homura turns to the white haired girl, her lip trembling for a moment, "You told them...?"

Sabrina winces at the sting of betrayal in the black haired girl's voice.

"Well!" she shrugs, "I-" the pocky falls from her mouth -but she catches it lighting quick, "almost!" She sticks the snack back in her mouth before continuing. "Three things, Homura. One:"

Suddenly she pulls a rifle from under her coat and opens fire.

An explosive racket of light and sound fill the nightly air..

Nobody moves- nobody breathes at the unexpected move.

A mere second later it stops.

The girls look around as Sabrina calmly puts the weapon away. "Always wanted to do that," she says to nobody in particular.

"Ah," exclaims Mami, pointing at Kyuubey.

Or the place where Kyuubey used to be, now a mere splotch of blood.

"Oops!" Sabrina quickly walks up to Madoka with a handkerchief, reaching to wipe a stain on her cheek. "Sorry, Madoka."

Madoka blinks helplessly, completely ovewhelmed by the situation.

Sayaka coughs. Her arm slightly trembles from being held in the same position for so long.

"Oh," Sabrina checks to make sure Madoka's face is spotless of any of Kyuubey's blood, before nodding and turning around to face the rest of the girls again, "right. Now, two:"

The other three magical girls tense.

"... you really have to consider not looping time back, Homura," Sabrina goes on, and the girls relax, "even if Madoka ultimately believes she should make a contract," she looks aside at said pinkette, "which I do not approve, by the way," she looks back at Homura, "we can still make things work! You don't have to abandon us, you know?"

The dark magical girl shifts in place, but only for a moment. Instead, she straightens up, wrenches her shield arm away from Sayaka's sword -"thank god" Sayaka swaps her sword to her other hand, shaking her sore arm- takes a deep breath and opens her mouth-

"And three:" interrupts Sabrina, "I think we should hear what Madoka thinks about this."

Madoka starts, looking around wide eyed as everybody's attention suddenly focus on her. But after a moment, her helpless look fades, replaced with confidence.

"I think-"

"Nobody cares what Madoka thinks," Homura cuts her off.

Madoka deflates on herself.

Sabrina's palm smacks against her forehead.

"I..." Homura's gaze flicks to Madoka and back, "I'll protect Madoka... So she doesn't have to contract," her tone turns stubborn, and her stand defensive, one foot towards the back.

"OK, OK!" Sabrina waves her off. "We're not getting anywhere here, so it's time for Plan B." The foreigner girl finally swallows her pocky stick.

Homura blinks.

Mami huffs, making the dark haired girl turn to face her. "Honestly, didn't she said it was an intervention? Look at your shield," she motions towards it with one hand.

Homura confusedly follows along, checking her magical 'weapon'.

There's a bright blue gash on it.

Violet eyes widen in panic, for a moment the girl does nothing.

A moment later the shield vanishes, a new one popping back in its place.

It's got the same bright blue mark on it.

Homura trembles, her accusing eyes flying up to meet Sayaka's mirthful ones. Her hand jerks-

"None of that," Sabrina grabs her hand suddenly, stopping Homura and drawing her focus onto herself. Not without kindness, she stares straight at her her troubled -betrayed- friend's eyes. "Quick explanation:" she brings up three fingers and and lowers them as she goes, "Sayaka's power is awesome. I distracted you so she could work her magic. You can't timeloop now."

Slowly and carefully, she lets go. "Don't worry, your timestop still works," she smiles.

Homura relaxes, barely. Uncertain, she grabs her shield again and pulls-

She's gone.

Sabrina looks up and to the side, waving.

Mami, Sayaka and Madoka follow her eyes to see a figure vanishing behind a roof on a random building.

"That went well," comments Sabrina.

Sayaka snorts. "Yeah, right. Well. I'm not sure how it could've gone much worse."

"Oh, it could've been worse," ascertains Sabrina, "... but I couldn't manage to convince Kyouko to come over," she laments.

"You invited K-Kyouko?" asks Mami.

Sabrina starts, eyes flying to meet Mami's, "I said too much," she blurts out.

"... Weeeeellllll..." drawls Sayaka, "I see you've got much to talk about, and I need to sleep off this sore arm-"

"Do you want to stay the night with us and Mami, Sayaka?" the words rush out of Sabrina's mouth.

Sayaka takes one look at Mami, flinches and grabs for Madoka, "oh, no, I couldn't impose -and we need to finish our homework -let's go Madoka!" She drags Madoka away.

Just like all throughout the night, the pigtailed girl can't quite interject, and just follows along.

The poor, confused pinkette will feel better after a good night's sleep.

The tall, suddenly very nervous white haired girl, on the other hand, slowly turns around...

Mami bits her lip, her eyes flickering to Sabrina's then away every second.

Sabrina gulps.

...don't even fucking think about it. She'd use Timestop to kill Sayaka, then us (just in case), and then loop. If Time Looping wasn't fixed by Sayaka's demise, she'd then fight Walpurgis. If Madoka Wished or died, she'd then Witch Out and set about slaughtering everything in sight.

Don't fuck with the Shield.

That said, good Omake.

Yea, taking away Homura's security blanket reset button seems like a good way to alienate her forever and completely destroy the possibility of her ever trusting us.

Homura: But can I attach her to my arm so that she never leaves my side.

Mami: I'm working on it.

Guys, guys, guys...

Clones.

Nobody needs to share a Sabrina if there are enough Sabrinas for everybody.

Just enough Sabrina.

Sufficient Sabrina.

I'm trying to Timecube that into Sabrina = Mo' Clonebrinas but I'm probably too tired.
I think we just need a list of all the Good Reasons™ to make Sabrina clones.

1 - Allow us to move around freely while maximizing Mami hug time.
2 - No meguca needs to go Sabrina-less long enough to make bad decisions.
3 - Can be a double security blanket for Homura; one Clonebrina to offer hugs counsel her, and one Clonebrina to watch after Madoka ALL the time go live with her pink mom the Kaname.
4 - Can put de-Witched souls into Sabrina clones, so they can also be very tall in comparison to average japanese people have bodies to inhabit.
5 - Can confuse people Sakura by being in two places at the same time.

Well? Why haven't we accomplished this already?
