Hm. This update reminds me how I was once pointed out that non-eucledian geometry isn't necessary harmful to humans in moderate doses - after all, Earth already has it due it's gravity field, and molecular chemistry isn't modified a lot due it's small distances.

But given how gravity collapses space to be smaller - look how black holes appear to look - I suspect we need something with large negative mass. Or perhaps imaginary, like with Alcubierre drive.

As a consequence, time in barrier passes faster than in outside world, as opposed to the other way around.

...

Do we know that, actually?

Alright, we're going to need two atomic clocks. First, let's leave one outside the barrier, then other inside the barrier.

If it doesn't succeed because the one outside dissolves that is interesting too.

Timeskips and power levels aside, I thought Rebellion Mami was pretty easily explained by like...yo, they really don't need to worry about cleansing inside Homura's barrier, holy shit. It seems to be constantly cleansing everybody so they can be flashy and never worry about anything because Lotus Eater Machine.

And of course only two of them even have real fucking Soul Gems in the first place.

Fortunately, if we're on-hand to constantly drain her corruption, Mumi can finally make that Gustav she's always wanted to and we can even supply the requisite shells with the extracted Grief.

So, we really should at one point or another ask Mami to -- in a safe situation, like if the Witch and familiars inside a barrier aren't particularly menacing -- show us what all she can do when going completely over-the-top. Might even boost her confidence some to show off like that sometime.

Just a thought I had.

Mami is kind of a big deal. :V

Magical girls and their magical skirt of modesty. We must find out how exactly that works. It's on the same level on how Homura keeps her hair so pretty.
Surprise upside down Mami hugs are also another area to research.

[x]Yeah, I'm coming. Sorry!
[x]JOLLY COOPERATION. Take the backseat and let Mami and Homura take the lead, keeping an eye out for any nasty surprises and focusing on defensive tactics.
[x]If we can get a moment see just what a familiar is made of, with magic and grief sense. See what we can do with grief control.

[X] Stop...there's more to do here.
-[X] Examine the interaction of the magic and grief. How is the Witch intertwining them?
--[X] Ask Mami and Homura what they make of it....what do the magical aspects look like to them?
-[X] Try replicating the barrier's properties on a very small scale...use it as a model to work from, until you can get it right.
[X] Create an atomic clock from grief, leave it outside.
[X] Once we're inside...
-[X] Create another atomic clock.
-[X] Try altering the nature of elements of the Barrier, like we do with our own Witch-Grief.
-[X] Grab a familiar. Lock it in a grief cage to keep it from fighting back, but don't directly alter it.
--[X] Have Homura Time Stop if things are looking dangerous.
--[X] Begin dissection. Start by analyzing its general structure...
---[X] Does this thing have a core? A soul fragment, or something like it, that controls the rest?
---[X] Is this pure Grief, or is their Magic involved, too?
---[X] Try to find whatever gives it intelligence. Whether that's a core, or something else.
-----[X] See if you can figure out how it's behavior is dictated...if you can make sense of it, try modifying its programming so that it will obey and/or help us, rather than the Witch.
--[X] If you have any luck with this, try making one of your own...use this one as a template, but use your own Grief and/or Magic. Make sure it's loyal to us and obedient.

Higure+clocks.

Ugo, have you forgotten what happened the last time we fought as a team? If we let them take the lead, there wouldn't be time for us to analyze anything.

...Now is not a time for an extended grief science session. This is a witch hunt, not a dissection table.

[x] Yeah, lets go.
-[x] Tell Mami and Homura to hold back for abit. You want to try something.
-[x] Examine a familiar using both magic and grief sense. See what it's made of, what lets it act independently, and if there's anything resembling the core you found inside a grief seed.
-[x] If possible, try and wrench control of the familiar from the witch.
[x] As usual, abort and go into full blender mode if things start looking risky.
[x] Feel free to show off abit when dealing with the witch. Create a large flaming blade or bombard it with disintegration rays, that sort of thing.

[] Tell Homura to try stopping time before entering the barrier if she hasn't tried it already.

It makes your eyes water to look at it, even if that makes no sense since you're not actually looking at it, and you wince.
One other thing that 'hurts to look at' is our wings.
But you... think you have an idea of how it works. Maybe.
I think this is permission to try this out later, so we don't waste time now.
"Sorry, Sabrina," Mami says. "It can be done, I'm sure! I'm... just not sure how."
Should we try something?

[] Grief-make point defense drones to take care of any familiars that get close; tell Mami to prioritie far away targets and to ribbon us all together in case we need Homura to timestop-bail our asses out of danger.

If we do want to do grief "analysis" on a familiar, we will probably want to let Mami and Homura know we are doing so, and to keep at least one alive. Last time we tried without telling them (paperwork barrier witch, right?), the familiars got shredded by them before we could make any progress on them.

That vote works for me.

Also, why do some people think roofhopping is a non-starter for magic development? It's not the most important thing on our plate, but just because the problem is with the timing and not the actual burst of magic, that doesn't mean we have no use for it. Look at enchantment: we have no problem throwing magic at shit, we just can't quite get down the part where it doesn't explode afterword.

Our abilities with magic seem to need less "magical strength training" and more practice of mundane uses. Think of magic like a gun: we can pull the trigger just fine, but if we don't have the skill to aim it, it's little more than a noisy tube that punches us in the shoulder, now isn't it?

Why are we showing off this time? That seems kind of dangerous. I know we're a hard counter to basically all Witches, but still...
