Sorry, but did the recent update mean nothing to you?

The whole reason we shattered is because we were too arrogant to use diplomacy against "barbarians".
Sometimes having an army won't actually solve all of your problems, surprise surprise.

Being the asshole conqueror like you want to be just means that people will be waiting to pick apart your carcass once you die.
No. The whole reason that happened is because the player base was screened over by the Vote format nearly forcing us into war.

Guess what. We stopped Ghengis godamn khan. Get off that high horse and realise that a small nation, like the one you want to build. Would get fucked over by such a force. We saved millions and have a chance at rebuilding because of a strong army.

You go get subjugated and watch our culture and ideas he destroyed again and again by Nomad and foreign invasion. I'd rather have our people protected and safe by a large strong empire.

The Ymarin, in-universe, don't, hence the weighing. The players should have, because AN didn't even try to hide that this was the Genghis Khan event, damnit.
So it makes sense, in universe, for the Ymaryn who have stood for a thousand years to not exactly be thrilled to follow the demands of a nomad warlord whos people the Ymaryn have been fighting, and winning against, for centuries.

Oh yes. Let's be the small power so we can stick to our oh so superior morals for the five minutes of life we'll have until a Nomad clan or enemy empire kills us.

Moral superiority only works as long as you're in a nation or position where you are safe.

A strong army and large nation = Safe people and and more time rebuilding our morality and culture. Instead of being subjugated and having it destroyed again and again.

Meanwhile in this quest we got where we got by understanding that diplomacy actually works.

Like really, the big parts of Ymaryn Success were: sustainability + diplomacy does not have to be zero-sum game + luck. That's bbasically how we got rolling.
Then we drank autofellatio koolaid and sucked our own dicks so hard we forgot to take up gunpowder. Hubris kills.

Reread the motherfucking quest.
We manifestly built the strong and prosperous empire by knowing how to not swing our sword as if we are compensating for something
edit: we've basically ignored the rise and fall of Rome. That's how government continuity works. They can squabble with their conquests, we play for keeps.
Or rather we did >_>

I can live with that.
as long as we diplo will allow us to recconect with our nearest provinces i can live with that.

And what makes you think we'll get that? "Trying to build a large empire with a strong army" is what everyone tries to do. The end result is just them smashing each others' heads in and wasting all money on war. What makes you think we will succeed and our opponents won't? We first need to invest to make sure we actually have the superior resource base.
What part of 'reunified' and 'industrialisation' don't you understand? A force supplied by a strong industry who had the power to reunify a large empire is going to have a strong military. Common sense.

Basically ignoring the facts dude.

Still, a year? And they became this damned proficient at using it?
Oh good, it's not that you didn't read the *last* update, it's that you apparently didn't read *any* of the updates. Update have always spanned many years, and we are specifically having a time slip right now.

The situation was that an upstart nomad had conquered a few tribes an made and insulting trade offer to the resident great power. Now sure we have bribed nomads before to not be a problem that's normal, what isn't is for a nomad to make DEMANDS of us. We are paying THEM, they are not forcing US to do this. So this guy comes along and is like accept this trade deal or else. The fact that we didn't attempt to annihilate him and merely SNUB THEM ON A TRADE DEAL shows the voters restraint. We've fought nomads before and we have destroyed nomad warlords before, how were the Ymaryn to know that this one would be different?
Stop. You're rationalizing. The vote to oppose the khan was a mistake, and everyone knows it.

What a surprise.
Most of the thread: "It's Genesis Khan, let's not ignore him"
Few guys: "No, see, our super-arrogant empire thinks he's some random, ignore him"
"Genesis Khan will remember this"
"Years later, he comes"
"Millions dead, kingdom shattered, we actually won somehow"
Few guys: "What? No way, totally out of the blue, I call hacks!"
