@Academia Nut what is the difference between the biggest dam and the second biggest dam option?

Well the one sounds to me like a better mega project, while the other sounds to me like a straight wonder

The biggest is kind of a dick waving symbol, but it is theoretically stronger and can handle a larger amount of water than the second biggest.

Clearly a wonder

It was admittedly much worse before a clerk pointed something out to the king.

Thanks @Abby Normal
You absolute ninja! :p (I had literally just sent him a PM asking for permission to post the original version of the options. Originally the options would have just been:
"[] Remove Purity trait and disable prohibition against slavery
[] Downgrade Pride in Acceptance to Cosmopolitan Acceptance, Purity will continue to corrode it
[] Allow the dice to decide, best case lose Purity without the slavery prohibition, worst case lose Purity, the prohibition against slavery, and downgrade PiA"

Reminder that Abolition of Slavery makes the dam cost 6 wealth an action, when we only get +2 wealth a turn due to doubling of ongoing costs. And the best wealth generating action is planting shit tons of cash crops. Not to mention that all the wealth generating factions will hate us for this and probably focus on fucking the state over instead of generating wealth with their actions following the system change.
It's 4 wealth per action, not 6. It adds 2 wealth cost to an action that costed none before. This is doable.

Also, fully expect us to lose our 2x progress Infrastructure policy bonus for this since it's based on corvee labour, but that's life.
That's not right. Corvee labour comes from our regular citizenry paying for their taxes in the form of labour rather than coin. Half-exiles don't come into the picture when it comes to that.

Its because its point less, the vast majority of people in the thread on absolutely adamant on having Modern Ideals as fast as possible. That's the motivation for the entire time every update in the thread, so arguing to slow down is a prime example of futility.
Eh, a flood of 'at any cost' votes was inevitable given the issue. Please don't let it get to you, there's plenty of time for votes to be made and things to swing one way or another. A lot of people won't vote until they know what the fallout of these decisions will be.

[X] [Purity] If slavery is so bad in comparison, maybe even the half-exiles need to be addressed (-1 Stability, the next Patrician, Guild, and Trader quests are all spite quests, all Wealth costs are doubled going forward)

Please don't do this.

I know people like the idea, but it's simply terrible. For one, it's not going to last, not in this time and age.

In the meantime, it'll crash our economy and nearly kill our civilization. The Spite quests will be impossible to fulfill, especially with the extra wealth costs. The hits will be devastating.

Everyone, AN just said that the biggest dam option is basically dickwaving, and it will significantly increase the wealth cost of the dam, which is about to be our biggest bottleneck for the foreseeable future, so can you please go for the second largest option that provides almost all of the benefits at a sightly lower cost.

Stats on the front page are what you are going into the next turn with. I just split it off so that the six options here wouldn't be part of the main turn and all of it's choices.

Neat. That means it's impossible to actually complete the trader quest next turn, which makes me feel better even if it's a shame to screw them over again. Does mean that we can only do one dam option if the largest is chosen though!

Jesus Christ.

Thanks for the save Abby.
The thread would have actually devolved into a nuclear salt reactor if those were the options.

[X] [Dam] Make it as big and impressive as possible (2 Wealth and 2 Tech per action added to remaining costs, requires an additional 3 actions to complete)
[X] [Purity] If slavery is so bad in comparison, maybe even the half-exiles need to be addressed (-1 Stability, the next Patrician, Guild, and Trader quests are all spite quests, all Wealth costs are doubled going forward)

[X] [Dam] Move to the bigger but more useful proposal (1 Wealth and 1 Tech per action added to remaining costs, requires an additional 2 actions to complete)
[X] [Purity] If slavery is so bad in comparison, maybe even the half-exiles need to be addressed (-1 Stability, the next Patrician, Guild, and Trader quests are all spite quests, all Wealth costs are doubled going forward)
[X] [PP] Skullduggery (+1 Intrigue/turn, -2 Diplo)
[X] [PP] Defence (+1 significant walls/turn)
[X] [PP] Special: Forestry (+1 Sustainable Forest and -1 Econ Expansion/2 turns)
[X] [PP] Special: Vassal Support (+1 Subordinate while active, increases Loyalty while active at less than full subordinates)
[X] [PP] City Support (4 Econ cost for True Cities offset each turn, -1 Tech)

[X] [Dam] Move to the bigger but more useful proposal (1 Wealth and 1 Tech per action added to remaining costs, requires an additional 2 actions to complete)
[X] [Purity] If slavery is so bad in comparison, maybe even the half-exiles need to be addressed (-1 Stability, the next Patrician, Guild, and Trader quests are all spite quests, all Wealth costs are doubled going forward)

Let's, you know, not massively increase the cost of our dam for dickwaving purposes when we're about to put ourselves into a wealth crunch and a war at the same time.
