We can't ES metal, including gold, FWIW.

Additionally: Are we ignoring the usual Konoha standard of using large amounts of wood in the construction of our clan buildings? What statement is this intended to make?

Ah, poop. I forgot about that, and it was included in the examples.
Details. Valid choices here include any details at all that you would like to specify. Examples:

  • Once construction has finished, Earthshape gold filament into the facades of important buildings, using shapes similar to sealwork.
Maybe the QMs will be merciful?

"Stone and brick are safer, and the Goketsu care about safety, which is what you want from a clan of sealmasters."

From a more socially aware person the statement would be "I have no need of your paltry wood. I forge homes out of the very world! Bask in awe of my grand architecture!"

From Hazou it's, "I mean, I have all this stone available and a good earth jutsu. What am I gonna do, not use it?"

It kinda feels like this is in somewhat poor taste after Enma just got done convincing Asuma how big of a deal the Dragons actually are. Once the conclave is over I'd be much more comfortable to support something like this

We were supposed to vote in a plan regarding the estate construction. It's separate from the action plan. I don't think Hazou has to do his part immediately.

If I remember correctly, it's a separate plan from an action plan. Really, the only part that's immediately actionable is meeting with an Architect and telling him what we want. After that will come a long line of drafts that get iterated upon. And takes time.

Not this cycle, specifically, just in general. In the examples that Vel gave us, he organizes it in the same way we would do a Training Plan.

I imagine that, much like a training plan, if there's not enough time within the narrative for Hazou to kickstart it (which is to ask Shikamaru a question at the shortest, or hire an architect at the most), then it'll be denied. But yeah, shouldn't conflict with the action plan.

I don't think there's a time limit actually. It's not really actionable atm b/c of the Conclave

We haven't left Leaf yet, and I don't foresee it taking too long to start... but eh, I'm not too bothered.

Even if we can't vote it through now, we can still think about it.

What do y'all think? Any deal breakers? Personally, I'm quite fond of the HOWs lampposts.

75 XP. Requirements: VD 40, extensive exposure to sources of chakra drain. You are a scrapper that has had to fight for every dreg of chakra in your barrel. Add VD AB to rolls to resist drain. If drain is totally resisted, free tag on VD roll on the target next turn.

Untamed Thirst
100 XP. Requirements: VD 40, use VD in 20 combats, drain 1,000,000 chakra. Chakra singing in your veins gives you an edge. Any moment missing that edge has you sluggish. After your first VD roll in combat, lose one supplemental on turns you do not roll VD. VD becomes a supplemental.

125 XP. Requirements: VD 50, defeat 10 opponents without a barrel. Facing death without the luxury of your barrel has given you deeper insight into your bloodline. Set stolen power swirling to take even more. Spilled water primes the void inside. As a standard ninjutsu, spend 100 CP and choose a quantity of chakra water to sacrifice. Add 5 to this turn's VD roll for every 10 CP sacrificed. Cannot sacrifice more than VD level x10 per roll. Penalty to draining when over half capacity + buff when under half fits the theme too.

Drain More
50 XP. Requirements: VD 40, face 100 encounters where you drained enemies to empty. You have become proficient in taking every drop from your targets. To waste is a sin. 175 XP. Requirements: VD 60, Med Know 30, Med Nin 40, drain 10,000 targets or 100 patients while scanning them. You have studied the flow of chakra in the human body from head to toe. Instead of draining on a VD roll, you can twist the stolen chakra against its master. The loop destructively interferes with their next use of chakra. Target may spend a full turn to clear the disruption. If not cleared, cancels one to one with chakra boost until loop is empty. If target uses a jutsu with smaller chakra cost than in the loop, loop is expended and the jutsu is negated or backfires. If a jutsu uses more, expend loop and debuff the jutsu's roll by loop CP divided by 9.

Added to my megapost, linked in sig.

So, not particularily on topic here (I think, Iunno, I dont often keep up on whats going on in thread beyond the story and immediate posts after), but have been background processing on Dragons, and how to deal with the fact that we can't really look at several of them, had a few thoughts tonight. Might be dumb, but didnt want to just not say anything and lose them. A lot is based on stuff I dont know if it really works in universe, but hey, maybe ideas.

Alright, so all that self deprecating out of the way, things to consider:
- Can we make a seal or something that downloads information into our brain from a distance?
- Can we make a seal that reports the distance and direction it is from us/a paired item or seal?
- Can we make a seal that reports the shape of something it is attached to?

If these are all yes (big if), we could in theory make a combination seal that gives us info on a hitbox of what is attached to without looking. This likely would be difficult to use in active combat, which leads to a further question:

- Can a genjutsu be made that acts like augmented reality? Where the person under the genjutsu still acts in real time, the person casting the genjutsu can update it in real time, such that something that normally appears as unviewable, appears as something else instead?

Given a frequent use of genjutsu is illusions to stick someone in midcombat, I think this seems plausible? Maybe moreso than those seal items, but unsure. The idea though would be if someone could cast this type of genjutsu, and could be given the data from the seal from a distance, they could cast the genjutsu on the ally, then stay out of the fight updating this genjutsu, while the ally can look at the dragon and see something they can fight normally.

There are lots of obvious problems here, I expect a lot of this is HDK and would require research to figure out, plus the range on the data seal would have to be VERY good to allow it to give useful data to someone to cast the genjutsu while they are at a safe enough distance to concentrate on it, PLUS how do you even get that sort of seal on the dragon in the first place, in a manner that it wont fall off easily? And thats just what immediately comes to my mind. That all said, it was a thought, didnt want to lose it, maybe someone can springboard off it into something more usable. *shrugs*

Didn't we vote that in, only to find that it would be against the Wakahisa trade deal? I vaguely recall something to that effect...?

So there was a discussion on discord yesterday about what we might get if we developed the Banshee seal chain to even higher decibel levels. I, er, didn't pay too much attention to the details, but I noticed two things in the discussion that led to a pretty thorny disagreement:
  1. The strength of a hypothetical WMD-tier Banshee could be very useful against the Dragons.
  2. There is no way to test a WMD-tier Banshee without causing a second EM situation and managing to proliferate another superweapon.
Different people took different views on the cost-benefit analysis here, but I think with the right set-up we can turn this into an almost completely pure gain for us. In short: test it inside a mountain.

More specifically, we can use Tunnel Excavation to dig our way into the heart of a mountain, and create our testing area in a chamber surrounded on all sides by excessive amounts of stone. Then, we take the tunnel we dug and fill it back in, with MEW or MARI or ES or something, leaving semi-regular pockets of air along the way. We'd get in and out with HLaM. Lastly, we have a Shadow Clone test each seal in the now thoroughly isolated testing chamber in the heart of the mountain, while Hazou waits safely on the surface. We could even station extra Shadow Clones in the air pockets to gauge the spread of the sound before it reaches the outside.

Done correctly, there should be approximately zero risk of another EM Nuke situation, where the rest of the Elemental Nations is alerted to the existence of something powerful and Asuma shakes us down for info. Ideally we also simultaneously research some other seal we might want to be out of Leaf to research, just as a cover story, but that's a bit of a digression. Once we have the seal destructive to our satisfaction (which we can measure from within the internal chamber, hop back in later and see how much stuff broke), we can either take it to the Seventh Path for some live testing or just keep it in our back pocket penciled in as "presumably as destructive as the tests indicated". Thus we have obtained a new WMD (presuming this project is possible in the first place, of course) and increased our anti-Dragon arsenal without giving the Elemental Nations another nuke to be irresponsible with.

There's a... slight catch though. When I first drew this up I forgot that HLaM doesn't let you swim through solid stone. This leaves us with two options: re-excavate and re-close the tunnel for each test (expensive!) or get enough dirt into the tunnel that we can HLaM through it anyways (tricky!). I came up with a solution I think works pretty well, though. Instead of a horizontal tunnel, we build a vertical one and use ES to 'pour' dirt into the tunnel. I built a little diagram for what the final product might look like if we also want to retain the semi-regular air pockets:
And I also drew up two different ways we might create such a structure using the tools at our disposal. In the first one, we start with a vertical tunnel and move the hole over as we fill in each segment:
And in the second we build the tunnel in its final configuration and simply use ES multiple times to get the dirt all the way to the bottom:
There's a bit more than this, in theory. For instance, we could change the first route to simply Earthshape the hole to the left instead of Tunnel Excavating to the left and generating new stone on the right, or other stuff like that, but the important part is that this arrangement is clearly viable if we want to make it. Moreover, being a vertical tunnel down into the ground, we also don't need to specifically go to a mountain for it (though we can always do that anyways, because "I forged this seal in the heart of a mountain" is one heckuva flex).

I can't say whether this WMD-tier Banshee is within our abilities to research or not, but if it is then Hazou knows ahead of time that he'll need to bring out the big OPSEC guns, and we can do exactly that with a reasonable amount of work. Once we have the time to pursue it, there's every reason to go ahead and try our luck at creating another dragonslayer.

I don't want to teach Reo ES, OPSEC on 3-D seals should be absolute. It doesn't seem like he'd be doing much. Can we cut that out?

Also @RandomOTP how opposed are you to wooden facades for our buildings? The buildings would as durable as ES reinforced stone (very) but with an appearance similar to the rest of Leaf architecture. I don't want to snub the rest of Leaf by ignoring their architectural traditions.

I will vote for this IFF you specify we get help from Mari to make it fully anatomically accurate.

I would be hard-pressed to remove it for the following reasons...

1) If we're going to make our Estate out of supernaturally strong materials, we're going to need all the help we can get. Many hands make for light work.

2) ES is a public jutsu, it's not classified. He can learn it any time he wants by strolling up to the Tower and asking to... Unless we, as his Clan Lord, order him not to. And doing that, when Reo could otherwise lighten Hazou's workload, will only draw attention/confusion/suspicion.

3) We-the-playerbase are not certain that ES power-up is 3D Sealing. It's our guess. It is, imo, a very good guess. But it's just a guess.

4) Reo isn't a sealmaster, teaching him ES doesn't automatically make him a 3D Sealer

Suggested edit in bold.
Sure, added. It's the same wordcount and conveys the same information. Don't see the difference, but added.

For the sake of transparency: ES isn't, technically, supposed to be able to shape metal, but Velorien accidentally included it as a viable option in his estate post. We're waiting on QM response to see if ChakrAI will be wonky and allow Hazou to do Just One Instace of this Very Cool and Not World Breaking Thing, or if they'd rather not set that precedent (which would be totes understandable).
