I have an idea regarding summons gold.
  1. have Mari locate as many potential buyers as doable whit out calling attention to ourselves
  2. wait until leaf scrip is secure enough for our purpose
  3. warnin Asuma about our plan in order for him to be prepare and avoid a second economic disaster
  4. we sell all the gold in as short a time as posible, this will destabilize Ryo economy across the world eventually but that works fine for us
  5. simultaneously we pay our dues to the non ISC clan in Ryo
  6. Use our own minted Ryo to buy food from other countries in bulk.
  7. Exchange Ryo for leaf currency
  8. give free but simple meals in our hall to all who want them
  9. provide our restaurants (and only our restaurants) whit the means to prepare dish at cheaper than current marked for those ninja or civilian that can afford food no problem but would prefer if the scarcity didn't force them to pay extra (maybe accepting only scrip as payment to help encourage people to use it)
  10. The hit to Ryo will make us comparatively Welty, enough to invest and expand our enterprises.
  11. The stability of scrip will encourage other nations to trade with leaf, improving our economy and giving Asuma a good opportunity to expand his spy network.
The problem is that this paints a huge target on both the Goketsu and leaf for one or another form of harassment but that can be mitigated via diplomatic means.

Heh.

Heh heh heh.

Y'know who's economy is pretty much exclusively based around mineral resource extraction and would be utterly wrecked by a sudden change in the global market as might be caused by a Leaf-dominated interdimensional trade or the sudden revelation of a whole new village built on top of a mountain they have spent generations learning how to excavate?

Rock.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but didn't Akane point out very very recently that hurting people is kind of counterproductive to the spirit of uplift? And this would badly hurt a loooooooot of people.

I mean, personally I strongly disagree with Akane that punishing Haru that severely and publicly was the correct thing to do. Has Akane even heard of practicality? Restitution for the families, sure. Making sure Haru won't do it again, absolutely. But what we did was highly counterproductive.

But in any case, hurting basically everyone in the EN is seriously counterproductive to uplift. Not in a 'this goes against our philosophy so we need to shoot ourselves in the foot to make some kind of philosophical statement' kind of way, but in a 'this is harming enough people that any upside the world gets from it won't balance out' kind of way.

Eh, this world appears to have a downright American Gini coefficient and undermining the currency markets tends to hurt the wealthy a lot more than villagers subsisting on an effectively barter system. Plus, if we know it is going to happen in advance we can exploit it for profit and then apply that profit wherever we wish to compensate for any damage to innocents. Heck, with the backing capital of the world's wealthiest village leveraged we could buy Tsunade that international humanitarian medical organization she's been craving since forever.

True, but
1) this is what will happen eventually whit wakahisha gold
2) I think investing the new earned money into villages along newly created trade routes will at least improve the quality of life in fire
3) three letting mist, sand and the minor villages we care about into it at a decent time can mitigate damage
4) whit our economic prowess solidly demostrated Asuma may allow us to invest in other villages, eventually improving their quality of life as well.
5) letting another clans know to soon can make them beat us to the punch, the few clans we care about will know first and the Hagomoro will have a handful of worthless Ryo as their consolation price.
6) most civilians aside for those that directly deal whit gold won't care, hamlet's farmers fishers and the such will survive and merchants will eventually stabilize their deals whit leaf scrip.
7) we odviously will have to run this by the gouketsu and the ISC before we even consider asking cannai for gold.

  • Debrief Cannai on latest Dragon War stuff. Request feedback on proposal for Crusade Treaty.
  • Talk to Cannai about increasing trading.
    • Hazo's village is experiencing a famine, so food would be great.
    • Gold would also help with the famine.
    • Hazo almost died, so techniques would be great, either for escaping or for training.
  • Delegate Mari with Therapy Stuff
    • Noburi shouldn't pawn work off to Hazo.
    • Hazo's 'therapy' rounds is now mostly Mari's responsibility excepting issues involving Mari.

Would you mind adding what akane told us to do about the yakuza families? I would prefer to stop the drama on its tracks.

It wouldn't get out of my head and I needed to sleep, so I wrote it. It was easier to post it here than to make a one-off on RR or something like that. I wouldn't have posted it in someone else's non-Dresden-Files thread, but this is my and @Velorien's house.
And technically we are playing a modified version of fate Dresden files so it's possible that this is all just a prequel

For the Crusade plan to work would it require something like the Cat boss (Tiger? The one Hazo & dogs passed through) sign off on and somehow enforce the peaceful passage of crusaders through their territory? The more social and organized territories like Bear can probably do this, but the feline one seems unlikely.

Attempting to collapse the economy of Fire via the devaluation of gold sounds like personal profit at the cost of many lives. Also maybe treason.

Were the Yakuza deaths investigated beyond what Asuma told us he heard? Did we ask Haru about the murders that weren't reprisal for attacks in our civilians?

Also- finally decided to go back finish this quest. I had read it in story only mode (years ago?) but stopped reading because I thought the QMs were purposely making poor decisions as the MC or interpreting the winning plans in the worst light possible, probably because they disagreed with whatever plan had won. When I decided to give it another chance I noticed the title linked to the winning plan, so the next time Hazo did something stupid I clicked the link to feel vindicated and give up the quest again.

Having now seen the crazy shit that won, I apologize for doubting the QMs.

Let's be realistic. For the crusade to work there is going to need to be a fair amount of (hopefully) informal "we can do this the easy way, or the hard way, but this is going to happen" directed at anybody who doesn't voluntarily decide to pitch in and pull their weight.

Personally, I think that sounds like Fun™.

Damn, I feel bad for Haru. Like he didn't do anything wrong really and he got embarrassed and punished terribly. I could understand if he killed innocent civilians, but he killed Yakuza. Like living as a civilian, is not gonna change that. Most civilian would also kill Yakuza if they could.

Going by the sketch of the 7th Path that I've made (link in my sig), Cat is the most direct and established path between Dog and Arachnid, but it shouldn't be the only one. If you exit through the southwest end of Bear or the west end of Hornet (not sure which) you should cross into the territory directly south of Cat, which hopefully would be more friendly.

Though, we should probably ensure that. We can ask Kumokogo what Clan exists east of Arachnid and what relations with them are like. If we really need to we can probably route through Kangaroo and Squirrel even further south, routing from the south end of Hornet.

If we assume every Clan involved from the east can at least reach Pangolin (which is essentially true, given how Pangolin borders nearly everything in the east), we should also look into Hyena, Leopard, and Rat. Hyena gives us access to Dog, Leopard gives more direct access to Hornet, and Rat gives access to the unknown clan south of Leopard who presumably borders Hornet and maybe also Squirrel.

In short, Hornet is the focal point of the journey and we need both a way to get to Hornet from the east and a way to get from Hornet to Arachnid. Kumokogo's already brought a bunch of Hornets to help out, so we can likely count on there being a safe path between Hornet and Arachnid, but we also need to establish a safe path from the eastern clans to Hornet, which we can accomplish through Hyena, Leopard, or Rat and their unknown western neighbour.

You can reduce the word count by consolidating them into a standard boss meeting section. Also, I would want to discuss a temporary trade arrangement with Kumokogo and the Bears.

I would prefer keeping the scene descriptions separate to make it easier on the QMs to read. I will optimize word count later today, what kind of trade do you want to ask about?

Oh, the Goeketsu also still have that sweet tavern which could turn a profit on that bear mead and doggo weed, plus whatever it is that Papa toad smokes. There's even a team of professional civilian engineers on the payroll ready to invent the hookah. It would also have pretty much a local monopoly on chocolate. Oh, and there's that obligation to clear some land for winefields. It wouldn't be difficult to clear a bit extra. Mari knows how to run a tavern and inn, and it would make an excellent intelligence collection avenue and money laundering establishment with her guidance as the Yakuza keep any potential competitors from popping up.

Plus, y'know, milk of the poppy if we want to go down that route. Plenty of demand even before considering the population of torn ninja getting back from extended operations. Enormously profitable, but it might lead to Akane strangling Hazou with his own intestines.

cause an economic collapse to profit from the ashes or become capos of the gouketsu cartel, decisions, decisions.

There's still plenty of civilians in cities like Leaf and larger towns that rely on currency. I'm not saying not to get lots of gold. I'm just saying don't save it up and dump it all at once to intentionally crash the economy. And we definitely need to run this by Asuma before we do it.

4) whit our economic prowess solidly demostrated Asuma may allow us to invest in other villages, eventually improving their quality of life as well.
Asuma won't let us invest in other villages unless he thinks we'll hurt them more than we help them. He's not interested in philanthropy, unless it's for people in Leaf. He might even go to war with them if they get weakened enough.

Errr... Leaf is a longtime supporter of the Minor Nation Mutual Defense Alliance, and explicitly has Most Favored Nation trade status with River as the gateway to its ally, Sand, whose free trade was brought up in a council meeting before the Hokage as if it could be safely taken for granted. Plus, any alliance with Isan is inevitably going to include free trade terms regarding their explicitly mentioned mineral wealth, so Tea can basically be counted in and its temperate maritime location has already made it a major trade hub even before considering the burgeoning Leaf-Mist alliance.

Y'know what? Screw conquering the world. Let's just buy it.

We got a contract with a ninjutsu trainer Canun and got training for him with Ebisu which was his condition, so maybe we could talk with him about that? Also about getting jutsu for Atomu, which was why we got said contract in the first place?

Would it be possible to reword this so Hazou a) asks for more information on the Yakuza (IE who they are as people, instead of as faceless scum); and b) reads the information himself? It might be a good idea to ask one of our other ninja (esp. Atomu, Reo, or Mai) to do this instead, if Noburi's going to be working on helping Yuno. With an emphasis on them not killing/injuring them in order to do so, ala Haru's actions.

Side note: Kagome's birthday. Custom seals probably won't be viable in a month with Hazou's injuries and duties, but comissioning something chocolate-related, like what Oneiros suggested earlier, would probably be viable given how much of it we own. I will add that while a chocolate scroll is a bit ephemeral (and I'm not fully sold on the symbolism of it being a scroll), it's not a terrible idea, and other ideas like a chocolate sealing array or a chocolate statue of Kagome are also good ideas. Maybe for now we can take stock of our supply and try finding someone who's got experience working with chocolate?
