Everything you expect or think to be crimson WILL be in crimson, my friend.

Bbcode colors make edits finnicky.
Please note: The new Naruto section should also be in Red.
I wasn't sure what to put here. I said "Handle this sensitively" and "This is as sensitive Hazou is to people calling Jiraiya your father."
ehhh...they're sensitive to it, yes, but they're not that sort of sensitive. We're comparing Hazou's anger about his stepfather figure to Noburi's anger about having to abandon/betray his family, or Keiko's sensitivity about doing that to Ami. Maybe say "This is as sensitive as Hazou is to people calling his momma a whore/traitor's mother" or something like that. With the implication that the source of the sensitivity is that Noburi/Keiko actually care about these people.

Also make another note on being extra-sensitive to Keiko, since from her POV Ami rejected her.
*He* was unconscious for this.
Ah, alright. Maybe add "tell him" to that line, then? So "Tell him we'll get him a medic in Leaf" or something.

>inb4 we get him Kabuto.
>inb4 Kabuto kills him.
I have added "Do in barracks or with friendlies on overwatch"
AND, not OR.

This seems kinda odd given the point above it? Like, "I need advice about this thing."

"Oh, I need honest advice."
People lie to kids sometimes to save them some heartache. its unfortunate but it happens.

> inb4 his boyfriend says he'd go "pretty damn far" to protect him, after Kabuto acts too creepy
> inb4 he gets out of hospital to find out his bf got killboxed and didn't have a Keiko to talk his way out of it

HAZOU: ... (crickets) Tadah?
:rofl:

Done.

@eaglejarl
The above seems mildly plausible.

It would probably only be a few extra. The first event seems like a general competence test for keeping opsec. I'd expect the penalty for losing your word half to be something like 100 to 200 points, and each word half you manage to take from others would be something like 5 to 10 points each. It would mainly be a way to help separate the wheat from the chaff early on, before the eliminations. And after that anyone who got captured in round five had an unspoken penalty awaiting them, beyond what their team suffered for them being taken out and left in enemy clutches.

@eaglejarl
I think the least spoon consuming method regarding word halves is:
  • Only the ones that are still in the running count for points, if any count for bonus points
  • All of the folks who made it to round 5 were good enough to steal someone else's word half to turn in for any event where it was needed (there were 72 word halves in Round 5)
  • After returning the halves we may have been safeguarding for our partners, we control 72-18 = 54 word halves that are not our own
  • Only ISC, Goketsu, and our R1 partners still have their original word halves

Seconded on spoon CONSERVING not spoon consuming :p

Except for the three who were explicitly stated to have done so:
"Well, well, well," the proctor said. "Looks like all you maggots made it...granted, three of you had to turn in your word halves to do it." He looked pointedly at a Lightning nin, a Sand nin, and the sole ninja from River who remained in the Exams. All three of them shuffled their feet and looked away.

@eaglejarl
I count exactly 72 ninja here post Event 4 going into Event 5.

Soft reference to 300 candidates to start out and half being eliminated after Event 3.
Cool. These are what I remembered but I wanted to make sure. Thanks.

Are there any questions requiring spoons that you would be comfortable offloading on us?

I enjoy putting together the kinds of models that have come up in this thread (engineering, statistical, descriptive, etc) and would be happy to do the same for other questions - and I imagine there are others here that feel the same.

Maybe putting together a mock-up of the Leaf Clan bloodlines? Obviously wouldn't be perfect (or we'd have too much OOC info), but could help as starting points.

Maybe a character generator that follows descriptive rules to match stats to a desired philosophy, age and talent.

Maybe a population model that fits a mortality rate to the observed ninja population, to better estimate what the age distribution looks like (and thus the likely distribution of low-high jonin and Kage level contenders)

If there's a project or set of things that could most make your lives easier, please let us know (in thread or PM, as needed)
Thank you, this is really nice of you.

One thing you could do would be to convert the old seals to the new rules. That may or may not still be waiting on some rules from us, though.

Another thing would be to collect a list of jutsu that need to be defined and aren't yet. Anything that you are known to have or are owed that we haven't written up?

Apologies. I went searching for a quote involving several ninja being late to the Fourth Event...only to realize that their word-halves wouldn't be taken because then they would be on time.
@faflec's note: The last one means we got 63 word-halves, given the fact that 3 others didn't have theirs anymore.

You are, as always, full of awesome. Remind me though -- why does the last one mean 63 word-halves?

72 ninja left in the tournament. 3 are Team Gōketsu so they weren't counted. 3 are ISC so weren't counted. 3 are from ninja who turned their word-halves in and so couldn't have had any to steal (below). 72 - 3 - 3 - 3 = 63.

Ask for Shikamaru's input beforehand
  • Is the amount good enough?
Why are we asking for Shikamaru's input before Jiraiya's?
Naruto:
  • This is a long shot
  • Do you have a blood sample?
  • Can you sign a summon contract for him in absentia?
    • Have toads reverse summon him immediately after signing.
    • This might buy some time.
  • Hazou et all treat this portion with the highest level of paranoia and OPSEC.
Odd question, maybe we could ask Keiko if this is possible? Phrase it like "Hey Keiko, if you had my blood, could you sign a Summoning Contract in absentia?" in the midst of a separate but also important-enough-to-make-security-precautions conversation.

Then again, we're asking Keiko to ask this, and she should know whether or not it's possible when Hazou suggests she ask this to Jiraiya...
Start to assemble Kagome's birthday gift
  • A book of all the things he's taught us.
  • Suggest to Jiraiya: Maybe turn some of the basement space into a fancy sealing lab too?
  • Bring back Mist cuisine (as much as we can) + cookbooks?
Mist-exclusive wood for carving? I dunno if this is a thing but we might as well check?

Its not. Take the following:

@faflec didn't account for teammates? I don't think we got ~10 extra word halfs. Maybe add 54 to the extra we got beforehand?

Wait, what? Did ISC not take their word-halves during R2 and have it distributed, or am I missing something?
*frowns*

@eaglejarl if this is the case(ISC stole R1 Teammates word halves in Round 2) then its 54 + 6 + 3= 63

Otherwise its 57, if ISC spared their R1 Teammates and left them the word halves.

Approximately two metric buttloads of word halves are currently residing in Pandaa's residence on the Seventh Path. Some of these were bought from conscious teammates with storage or explosive seals scribed by Hazou in the eight hours or so he spent sealsmithing during the day.
I have been under the impression that this means we took all the word-halves from our R1 teammates, save maybe their own.

Those were taken in R2 by ISC's team.

From the Pre-Afterparty Authors Note

Approximately two metric buttloads of word halves are currently residing in Pandaa's residence on the Seventh Path. Some of these were bought from conscious teammates with storage or explosive seals scribed by Hazou in the eight hours or so he spent sealsmithing during the day.

So we were safeguarding some fraction of our teammates word-halves at the end of Round 1 (my original model was everyone but ISC, cause they were super-confident)

I thought we'd just return those even though we paid some negligible amount of explosives/storage seals, but that might not be the case
