The only reason i am voting no is because Karkara is a shit fighter and the only reason we have a chance here at all is because of our power level which because this is a shonen fight i expect the boy to gain a random power up that will make him equal or superior to us in that capacity so we will lose.

What's skeevy about it?

Yeah, there's an element of celebrity crush involved, but he's still just asking to face off against one of the best fighters/dancers after winning a fighting/dance tournament. While fully expecting to get his ass kicked as well.

Rather than worry about romantic implications, we would be better served worrying if this is a cover to study us for hints to replicate the super saiyan transformation (since we're likely to be young enough to not have purged any hint of that from whatever we do). His house is notably loyal, but that just means that it's less likely to be checked out for traitors.

Even with a Zenkai and willpower push, we simply outpower him too much for that to happen.

What saiyan shonen power up? Zenkai requires being shitstomped first, that would be a HFIL of a willpower push, and the traditional saiyan shonen bs, the miscellaneous ki-shifting bullshittery that is the misc. SSj forms, are a) illegal as heck, b) rage linked because that little mutation of Goten, kid Trunks, and Pan didn't pass down far enough, and c) dwarfed by FPSSj anyways.

EDIT:
I don't want to risk it.
That's... that's not "being cautious". That's not "I'm not going Super Cyan because that shit's Enemy-nip", that's "I'm not getting a dog because it might transform into Alduin and eat the world".

Edit 2: actually it's not even that, it's "I'm not getting a dog because it might transform into a dozen chickens and get chicken poop and feathers on my carpeting."

I just find cute how brave the guy is, it takes balls to be able to ask the equivalent to a dance with your crush in a public place.

But seriously, there's already evidence of some kind of conspiracy, so we might want to think about stuff like this from now on. Whether it was mind control or not, anyone could be the enemy.

There are so many things wrong about this.

1-It is already known how to become SS, it is the training for FPSS
2- We have transformed often enough they don't need a ruse for this
3- This was a spurt of the moment boon from dad because of the extremely unlikely result of a 14 yo becoming champion. Unless they had an uber seer, they couldn't have planned for this. If they did have an uber seer, they could have scried for the secret.
4- Unless he has Elite acting, Tabe is awkward as hell for him to be trying that.
5- We don't know if mind control was involved yet
6- The reason people suspect mind control is involved is a Dandeer like comment, who presumably already knows the secret.

[X] No.

As well as the talk of not being pressured into anything romantic, the awkwardness of the kid makes me think that even if he doesn't have the guts to retract his request, we still should shut it down. As well as the fact that even if Kakara is now able to enjoy watching fights and participating in her people's culture, she's still not a fighter at heart.

She doesn't like fighting for fightings sake, only to protect, so why fight here?

I'll just reiterate that we should take the fight because a public fight would be good for us politically, and we're a shit enough fighter (well, more like these guys are so much better than us) that the only way we're liable to win is if we go at it with (at minimum) like 20X more power than they have.
I don't think the gap is actually that high. Kakara isn't a shitty fighter, she's just not an extraordinary one. She's got Exceptional Dueling, a number of Talented ki attacks, Exceptional Flight and Ki Control to give her good endurance and evasion. Style is her main weakness, and she's not a heavyweight tournament competitor I'll grant you, but she's not so crappy that she needs a 20-to-1 power advantage just to compete.

I'm just voting no because I'm skeeved out by the situation.
If the situation were different I'd agree, but I feel like the specific circumstances and nature of the situation are non-skeevy, personally. Change up enough of the details (i.e. make this a Princess Quest in which the protagonist is NOT herself a strong warrior, make the tournament winner seem more entitled and less embarrassed, show signs of the crowd actually expecting the princess to go along with it) and it would be super skeevy... But you'd have to change those details, in my opinion.

But seriously, there's already evidence of some kind of conspiracy, so we might want to think about stuff like this from now on. Whether it was mind control or not, anyone could be the enemy.
True, but we have to take varying levels of precaution against varying levels of presumed-allies. Because if you start trusting literally no one with literally anything, you're going to end up isolated and screwed politically from the sheer paranoia of it all.

Just focus on happy thoughts. Like @Simon_Jester 's face once they remember they wrote Auger.
He ain't done with it yet, either. ;)

So, does anyone else finds morbidly funny that Tabe was publicaly insulting Berra when trying to sound respectful?

"Lord Berra-" Tabe grimaces, shaking his head. After a moment of hesitation, he goes to one knee. "Lord Goku. I- I wasn't expecting..." He takes a steadying breath and falls into a more formal tone of speech that a Gokun like him probably thinks sounds like Vegetan formality, even if it's not any particular protocol. "If it's acceptable, my Lord, for my favor, I would like to request the honor of a fight with the Lady Scion."
For one thing, your protocol lessons have been expanded. While before you thought you knew how it was proper for a Scion to act, now you're not so sure. Because while you heard about things like, "Lady Scion," and the proper way to bow or not bow, you're now coming to understand that you hadn't even started to learn them.

Namely, you're becoming aware that all the Vegetans who have called you "Lady Scion" are basically saying that they want you to start making babies as soon as you can so that you can take over from Dad.

I mean I assume that Lady Scion is actually a form of being respectful in Gokun, because holy shit does people call us that a lot. Like, in the Garenhuld council whenever we talk to a Peat we are called Lady Scion. Heck, Celeran called us that in public and used that term everytime he talked about us in his speech to the faith and half of them are Vegetan. Amusingly enough, even Dandeer called us Lady Scion in the council when she was trying to get us to her side. Anyways, I find it hilarious that Tabe hears the Royal We, decides to talk like what he thinks a Vegetan sounds like to wing it and look respectful and finishes his very first sentence with the Vegetan way to say Berra should be replaced already by us having children while he is asking for his permission to asks us to dance with him. Completely by accident, without having any idea what he said and with Dad being the one who taught us what that meant for a Vegetan.

I think we should kick him in the mouth during the spar. For simbolism.

That said, I am starting to seriously rethink his ranking in the future consort competition. I mean, I can't be too hard on him because we know for OoC comments that his heart is in the right place and he is just too nervous to think before speaking but damn is he bad at this whole talking thing. Then again, two of the other three candidates are Jaffur and Maya... hopefully at least one of them grows out of it by the time they hit their twenties but for now Betarel is starting to look like a better option.

I think we can close the vote at this point. It might have been hotly contested, but it was never really in doubt.

That is too soon, I think. The vote has been open for a day and a half and the thread was locked for a chunk of it. Those who vote no haven't really had a chance to prepare other arguments against it since we were swept in the morality discussion.

It's only an 18 vote lead now. Not even double the opposition.

As for shipping, I'm just hoping for a heterosexual pairing since we have a female PC. I haven't run across a quest with one outside of CK2 quests, and those you grab a spouse for straight mechanical benefits. The novelty is appealing.

There could always be a write-in vote too. Like using telepathy to tell him to ask again later in private and telling him no in public.

I think if people find agreeing to fight him in public creepy, suggestions to meet up in private won't help...

Honestly not too bothered by this but I don't really get why she'd want to fight in this situation? Just to test herself or something like that?

For the chance to beat him up for putting her on the spot like this.
