[X] Search for a vision.
-[X] Pastsight - the Dragon
-[X] Presentsight - Visit Jiichan
At the start of the year,
@Bakkasama had the idea to spend school time researching Garenhulder legends, on the hunch that the Dragon is the thing that killed all the solar systems around us and instilled the human fear of innovation. It's a pretty good hunch, especially considering the title of the year is "Legends". I think we should use our visions to try something similar, get a picture of what the Dragon did in the past so we're better prepared for it. Even if it's not directly connected to Garenhuld, we'll at least gain valuable insight into what this thing is... and we desperately need it.
This idea was also proposed about the legend research:
Honestly? I just want us to use our position and delegate that to others. Have them go through the legends, recruit Garenhulders who study such things along with any Exiles who do so, get the governments of the world in on potentially.
It's not a field we're specialized in, and it's going to be a big field. Don't even know how we should probably manage/direct it. Better to leave it to the professionals, though we probably should bring it up with Berra.
@PoptartProdigy, can we do this? It's not exactly something that requires using an action slot, if we delegate. I think it would be strange if
somebody in the Exiles society hadn't made the same connection as the readers, even if it's not Kakara.
Also....
Well, we can't normally scry into the afterlife; Yemma does not allow cutting in line. We can visit Gohan in the afterlife via visions in our sleep, which apparently involves divine-Gohan having some kind of backdoor access. Vegeta might not have bothered to set up such a backdoor, and we certainly have no evidence of it, so at best he'd be harder to contact.
Trying for a presentsight Gohan vision might not work, but we might learn a lot of good things. Gohan might have some things to say about the path we're taking (which is starting to parallel his own in some ways while diverging in others). He might have things to say about how we're doing with Jaffur, which might prove interesting.
And if anything reasonably-readily available to us could give us a bonus to Spirit Bomb research, it would be visiting Jiichan. Because Gohan has seen the Spirit Bomb used repeatedly, and even interacted with its energy once- albeit only as an accidental target practice backstop.
...
Except, as Poptart just said, we're already trying everything we can think of in terms of scrying and Spirit Bomb. Which might be interpreted to mean we're going to be trying "go visit Jiichan" too, and would derive no extra benefit.
It's also possible that we might have to "and nothing else" pretty hard to achieve this. Visiting Gohan in the afterlife is something our spirit does, and I suspect we can't Multiform that while doing something else; we just have to straight-up have Kakara go to sleep (which she rarely does due to Masque shenanigans).
This is also a
very good idea. Since we're trying Spirit Bomb, we need everything we can get, and talking to Gohan is something no other SB researcher has had access too. He's both a ki user and a scholar, so he must have ideas about how it works, even if he never learned it himself... hell, maybe he even did eventually, I mean he lived a long life. Furthermore, with us in so dire straights maybe he'll give us some more help... like, say, how to do the Saiyan God Ritual? I'm not sure we'd even want to risk that the Enemy can't sense God ki, but if the Dragon is slaughtering us wholesale and there's no other option, it's a fanatastic last resort to keep in our back pocket. Unlike everything else we can possibly learn to deal with the Dragon, the Ritual doesn't need training or power to use; just know how to do it and Bob's yer uncle.
Even if he doesn't, Gohan is one of the greatest fighters in multiversal history, and quite frankly we need anything he could possibly give us right now. The only question is if we should do "And nothing else" for it to make it succeed more. I really want more intel on the Dragon, and if Poptart approves Exile academics researching legends I'd feel better about abandoning the Pastsight. For now, I guess I'll take both.
Damn, I love this quest.
