[ ] Contacting Jaffur (1 action)

And now most controversial of all!

[ ] The Power of Learning (1 action): [Tinkering]. Girl needs a hobby

Alright, let's see. These ones are the ones that would benefit us the most or are our responsibility:

Attend School (Mandatory, choose one of the following): Time-consuming, tiring, and the part that you're most likely to be discovered doing. Unfortunately, you really have no choice. Current grades: trending A- once again after last year's effort. Effect: Attend school.
-[ ] Maintain Grades (2 actions): You're good where you are, and you have a lot to do. Let's just get the effort in to stick it out and then focus on other things. Effect: Maintain grades.

2 Actions, necessary

[ ] Better Living Through Ki (1 action): With the first stage of the Masquerade falling, the human part of Garenhuld has to be pretty nervous about the superpowered people in their midst. They're always uncomfortable with new things. Well, nothing like showing them that it's an ancient tradition reduced to the level of a space heater to convince people that they're working with something well-tested! Effect: Write a blog or book series on some of the more casual, everyday uses of ki that your people have invented over the years, along with exercises on how to harness one's ki and brief histories on the long, long history of the art. Grant human population of Garenhuld low-level access to ki-use and reduce tensions -- if successful. There will be a mini-event.

Reduces tensions. 3 actions

[ ] Train Maya (1 action): Your father would likely be willing to handle this, but Maya is your friend first. Effects: Continue Maya's ki training instead of handing over to your father.

Our student. Ours. 4 actions.

[ ] A Scion's Stewardship, Human-Facing (2 actions): Dad has come to you and told you that you're ready to assume a more active role in the rulership of your people. He's offered you a choice, if you feel ready as well: help him deal with the revelation to the humans of Garenhuld, or help him manage the saiyans during this time. You think you could learn the most from the humans, at the moment. Effect: Working under your father, take an active hand in the rulership of the Exiles as it regards to the humans of Garenhuld. Will be represented by a variety of mini-events, and offers manifold skill training opportunities as well as intangibles such as political reputation and experience, along with being able to directly and more significantly than any one or even two other option(s) affect the coming-out period as a public figure.

Control the reveal, train our skills.
6 actions

[ ] Train Style [Variable] (1 action): You've gained a comprehensive library of styles, and can now choose to pick one to begin training in if you please.

We need at least one action to maintain our skills and this or command training are the best fit. Since this has a chance of leveling multiform...
7 actions

[ ] Train With Sensei (1 action): Nothing for it but time. Effect: Grind your talent in Seer abilities. Sensei tells you that this will be gruelingly hard, and take years to master no matter how much of a prodigy you are. You can now devote two total actions to training with Sensei Carrick.

Not neglecting our seer training. 8 actions.

[ ] A Scion's Stewardship (2 actions): Dad has come to you and told you that you're ready to assume a more active role in the rulership of your people. He's offered you a choice, if you feel ready as well: help him deal with the revelation to the humans of Garenhuld, or help him manage the saiyans during this time. You think you could learn the most from the saiyans, at the moment. Effect: Working under your father, take an active hand in the rulership of the Exiles as it regards to the Exiles themselves -- especially given your ongoing conspiracy. Will be represented by a variety of mini-events, and offers manifold skill training opportunities as well as intangibles such as political reputation and experience, along with gaining a more direct view of the society you're moving in, and how you might exploit it to the end of breaking the Seal.

Influence get and it would help train skills and manouver the unsealing fallout.
10 actions

[ ] Contacting Jaffur (1 action): Your plan with the Senzus calls for your to find a way to project yourself into Jaffur's mind yet again in order to communicate with him. The last time was purely by accident, so there are no guarantees, but you need to try. Sensei has proclaimed you to be ready for this, and you're already a little behind schedule. Effects: Using your newly-trained skill in Mind Projection, try to project your mind into Jaffur's Seal in order to move the plan forward. High odds of success.

Necessary. 11 actions.

That leaves us with 5 actions. Which is where things get complicated since I want many:

[ ] The Power of Learning (1 action): Quite aside from school, the human world has always fascinated you. Maybe you can learn something from them? Effect: Become a bookworm in (insert field of study) or just read as widely as possible if nothing specific catches your eye. This is something you'd be good at.
-[] Garenhuld legends

Mostly a hunch but... well, there is the name of the year being Legends, the whole mystery that is this solar system... it feels like it would give a hint about what we are
facing. Also, potential synergy with drama club.

[ ] The Ship Has Been Sunk, Now Hand Out the Life Preservers (1 action): Well, that secret's blown. Humans know about ki. The fleet is coming. Something is coming. Your friends will be safer if they're able to protect themselves than not. Effects: Instruct your friends in the arts of ki. Potential disapproval from their parents.

Keeps our friends alive

[ ] Out To the Club (2 actions): You're feeling confident enough in your Masque that you can start spending more time among humans. Your school has a bunch of clubs, it occurs. Kid stuff, but it'd help you get introduced to various things early. Which is what it's for... Effects: Propose a type of club to try joining; sports, academic, hobby, etc. Run it by me and I'll tell you if it's plausible for a primary school student. Has social benefits in the form of new contacts and relationship grinding with fellow Misfits in the same clubs, and also grinds related skills.
-[] Drama Club

Good PR, raises skills.

[ ] Command Theory (1 action): War is on the horizon, and you must be prepared to lead your people. Open war is at most a year away, even ignoring that odd vision you've had. Your people have largely lost the art of mass combat. Perhaps you would serve them best at a desk as a military theorist. Effects: Train your Command Training skill with results that are not guaranteed and will not be revealed until your theories are applied in combat. You are intelligent and trained; you think you should do well here.

This would be really helpful to keep what remains of the masquerade against the next few threats.

[ ] Study Jaffur's Form (1 action): You know the first step here, but more will take time. And with Mato now on the case, you aren't the only one learning...and that said, you haven't checked in on his progress yet... Effect: Spend more time trying to figure out further requirements for Jaffur's form. With your brain and having made a breakthrough, you know progress to be a near-certainty. Mato working on it means somebody else to make progress as well.
-[ ] With Mato. Effects: Social with Mato, two minds working in concert on the problem instead of separately.
-[ ] Without Mato. Effects: Don't bother with it. Your purpose in getting him to work on it is achieved.

So would this. Kakara says that she feels she has to train HARD. So this thing is serious. Either this or Kaioken.

[ ] Research Project (1 action): You've been thinking lately, and there are some lost techniques that would be really useful to have. Come to think, you have some ideas for entirely new techniques. Maybe you could look into developing them? Effect: This is your general research option. Use this to conduct experiments into new uses of ki or even entirely new techniques, be they combat-based or not.
-[] Ki tricks to save time in everyday life

The original Better Living option, that supposedly gives us another action later if successful.

[ ] Transcendence (1 action): During Aramaia's attempted nuclear attack on Tastreya, you broke through to something new. Something incredible. An understanding of your ki sense that you've never heard of anybody achieving before. You feel like you're on the verge of something revolutionary...if only you reach... Effect: With the event-lock broken, train your Ki Sense skill towards Elite. May be taken multiple times, will need to be taken at least twice to have even a single-digit chance of success this year.

Shiny.

Well, gotta go. Election day here, be back in a few hours.

Edit: Well, that was fast.

Anyways, I think that, maybe, even if it pains me to put it off... we should shelve club activities for another year. The 2 actions are needed and we are already doing lots of things to look normal. The lack of training in deceit hurts and this is the kind of thing that should be done early given its prestige but...

Keeping our Friends safe and kosher with ki, training our ki sense, making an art of war, and training new tricks would put us one over the limit with it if we choose the other actions and drama club.We could drop one of the optatives but I would like that power of learning action.

If we research the legends we could apply the examples from folklore to the blog and say which things might have happened with ki. We would learn stories that would be applied to drama club later. We could get insight to their way of thinking and know more about garenhulder culture. But most of all... the title "Legends" for the year looks a lot like a hint. If this thing is what killed all nearby systems and has been slumbering for a while then there might be a clue in the legends of Garenhuld.

@PoptartProdigy : can we double-up by conducting Tien-style training and/or multiform research in Saiyan form?

What about reading Gemma in, at least on ki, and letting her determine the best human/tech/theory/random-brainstorm ideas for research and testing?
You can double up in the sense that you take both actions.
How many times would we have to take Transcendence for success to be guaranteed? It occurs to me that that use of Ki Sense would be incredibly useful in finding the incoming fleet...
Guaranteed? Seven times.
How hard is it to get those one day passes from the afterlife? If we could have some people talk to Goku, Vegeta and Gohan then come back we could get a lot of useful information.
Huh, I haven't seen this question since the quest's page count was in the single-to-double digits. Irrelevant in this case; Goku and Vegeta burned through their one-day passes and then started playing hookie frequently enough that they got locked in boxes. Even now that they're released they're closely watched. Gohan might be able to, though...if you can find a way of communication and transit. Which as yet you have not, seeing as you've stopped visiting him in your dreams (or been blocked? You can't say, honestly; it's not like you ever reached for him).
Question: Instead of spending an extra action on simply maintaining grades can we spend our time tutoring students to get some social done as well?
Yes, but bear in mind that teaching is a different skill from learning, one which many find to be harder. Your odds of success would be lower.

If you go for it, it would look like:

-[ ] Attend School
--[ ] Tutoring (2 actions)

You could also make Tutoring 3 actions, for the ultimate school nerd package.

I forget if this has ever actually been asked, but what do we exactly mean by locked in boxes.

Like in little cubes, or more like prison cells?
And for how long?

The Ultimate School Package. Other responsibilities forfeit. :lol
Alas, we do not have the ability to do that, barring something like a Mass Brainwashing technique so we can dump all our responsibilities on others.

So, question: what was Berra up to when he was this age, how far had he gone in his studies/training as Scion/a warrior, and worries did he possess? Other, you know, Talt and the fallout of that, which frankly we're still dealing with today.

Thread? Any thoughts on the beast possibly appearing in Garenhuld legends?

Very small prison cells -- too small in which to train.

That second bit was the only criterion for which the cells were selected. :D

This age? Crushing embarrassingly hard on a human girl in his Social Studies class.

Your Scionship is distinctly unusual in how chaotic and involved it is. There's a very good reason Berra expects you to be interested in a very normal life, and tends to enforce it as a matter of habit. He honestly considers it to be a failure of his that you get as involved as you do.

Honestly? I just want us to use our position and delegate that to others. Have them go through the legends, recruit Garenhulders who study such things along with any Exiles who do so, get the governments of the world in on potentially.

It's not a field we're specialized in, and it's going to be a big field. Don't even know how we should probably manage/direct it. Better to leave it to the professionals, though we probably should bring it up with Berra.

Aw, that's adorable. The embarassing crush, and the expectation that we're "interested in a very normal life". We could do with a less eventful life, but a normal life? Not so much.

And I'm guessing he's going to be a weird mixture of proud, upset and worried if we take both Scion Stewardship options?

So... uhh, are we going to have to deal with a Dragon during this year?

I mean, there was a Dragon eye in the update...

[] Maintain Grades (2 actions)
[ ] Queen of the School (1 action)
[ ] Better Living Through Ki (1 action)
[ ] The Ship Has Been Sunk, Now Hand Out the Life Preservers (1 action)
[ ] A Scion's Stewardship, Human-Facing (2 actions)

[ ] Command Theory (1 action)
[ ] Train Style [Tien] (1 action) x2
[ ] Train With Sensei (1 action)
[ ] Contacting Jaffur (1 action)
[ ] Research Project (1 action) [Perfect Multiform]
[ ] Transcendence (1 action) x2

We gotta maintain our grades. Now we're a heavily-scrutinised public figure, keeping up appearances here is much more important. If there weren't so many better actions to choose from I'd even consider raising our grades, but the fact that there are and my sneaking suspicion that if we push them to the top there might be a chance to fail maintaining our grades, means the 2-action choice is the best here.

Queen of the school is an explicitly social action and will also help make us seem less scary (to a Garenhulder, mysterious means scary), synergising with A Scion's Stewardship.

Better Living Through Ki is another neat Garenhulder PR action, and I suspect we'll pick up a few new tricks ourselves for having explicitly examined everyday ki usage - I don't think it needs a whole research action though.

Life Preservers is a social-y action with our friends, and also gives them a leg up on learning ki use, both of which are nice. I mainly included it to avoid drifting away from our existing friends.

A SS - [Human] is the more interesting side of this, and we really should take one.

Command Theory is the only way we have of affecting our Command Training skill outside of events, presumably by increasing the current training cap.

Tien Style is a must for our planned combat build, and given that it involves learning multiple new techniques and then tying them together we should really be taking two.

Training with Sensei continues the slow grind on our path as a Seer. It's not very glamorous, but I think we all agree it's necessary?

Contacting Jaffur is an absolute must - we're already behind schedule.

Researching Perfect Multiform is the same as last year, just getting us up to Exceptional Multiform to get that extra action, with the added bonus of unlocking Elite Multiform. (Training Tien Style is likely to focus more heavily on "catching up" with the style's other skills than Multiform, so I'd rather put an action specifically into it to make sure we get it.) Irritated we had to drop it last year - we could really use the extra action.

Transcendence is just super neat. We probably won't get it this year, but we don't desperately need it and it's not holding other skills or actions back, so we can roll the dice on two actions this year and if we don' get it just give it an action every year until we roll well enough against a decreasing DC.

Actions I didn't include:

Researching BTLK: I don't think Poptart ever confirmed that researching BLTK would give us another action - in fact, didn't they say that it wouldn't do so? I also don't think we need to brush up on it for the blogging action. Kakara's a smart girl, if she runs out of things to blog about she'll presumably spend action-time thinking up more.

A SS [Saiyan]: I think that taking both is too much. We just have too much going on and we're only expected to take part in one. I don't really think going for both is worth it, and the Human side looks more interesting.

Drama Club: Our poor Deceit skill! There's just too much going on at once - we consistently have to choose between socialising, responsibilities and training neat skills, and this just doesn't make the cut. Hopefully things will calm down at some point, this is getting a bit ridiculous.

Side-note: I remember @PoptartProdigy once commenting he was surprised we seemed to be investing so heavily in getting more actions. Can you imagine what this would be like if we were working with 12-13 actions? Or if we didn't go for any at all, 11? I'm super glad we specced heavily into getting more shit done even if it didn't have the expected payoff of being able to take neat/shiny actions without losing out too much elsewhere, because it instead has had the payoff of being able to do something besides the bare minimum in several areas. I mean, starting a conspiracy eating up actions to free Jaffur probably didn't help, but still.

It is perfect plan, and good analysis except those three possitions:

[ ] The Power of Learning
-[] Garenhuld legends

Study of legends will give Kakara nothing she does not know. She is a Scion after all, and legends were bound to be researched. It is effectively a hobby - one that will have very limited effect. And not a very interesting hobby at that. She lives a legend.

Additional seer training is much more efficient use of time.

[ ] The Ship Has Been Sunk, Now Hand Out the Life Preservers (1 action)

It does NOT keep our friends alive. Unless You think about danged brought by association with celebrtity (Kakara). No matter what training, they will NOT be able to contribute to battle in any meaningful way. I am not saying that it should not be chosen - bur if we do, let's treat it as it is: purely social action done to strengthen bonds with friends. It have nothing to do with safety.

Plus, Maya can do it just as well as Kakara. We can just push it to her.

BTW - training humans in Ki will be part of wider PR actions. There will be demonstrations, dojos with new instructors, etc. Kakara may be part of that, and teaching Ki to friends may be useful in that angle. Otherwise, it is not most efficient use of time.

[ ] Out To the Club (2 actions):
-[] Drama Club

It is a hobby, nothing more. It will not really synergize with PR much, as things like drama club are very much local. It does not have effect wider than local community. It can matter only as much as Kakara is treated as celebrity - it will be one more thing that celebrity doest. Which does not matter much in bigger picture.

Hmm. Awake now.

So, better make my thoughts on the votes known-or, at least, what options I really want.
-[Z] Maintain Grades (2 actions): You're good where you are, and you have a lot to do. Let's just get the effort in to stick it out and then focus on other things. Effect: Maintain grades.
Keep 'em goin steady.
[Z] My Best Friend (1 action, may be taken more than once): In particular, there's one person you want to spend more time with this year. Effect: Take the time to improve your relationship with one non-saiyan person in particular (including Jaron).
SOCIALLINKSOCIALLINKSOCIALLINK
[Z] A Scion's Stewardship, Human-Facing (2 actions): Dad has come to you and told you that you're ready to assume a more active role in the rulership of your people. He's offered you a choice, if you feel ready as well: help him deal with the revelation to the humans of Garenhuld, or help him manage the saiyans during this time. The Saiyan side is also interesting, but I feel like this is a better use of our social skills.
[Z] Command Theory (1 action): War is on the horizon, and you must be prepared to lead your people.
Because we are a leader, and should know how to competently lead.
[Z] Train Style [Tien] (1 action): You've gained a comprehensive library of styles, and can now choose to pick one to begin training in if you please.
To satisfy @Aranfan :V
[Z] Study Jaffur's Form (1 action): You know the first step here, but more will take time.
-[Z] With Mato. Effects: Social with Mato, two minds working in concert on the problem instead of separately.
SIBLING ACTIVITY
[Z] Study Magic (1 action): You aren't a Sorcerer, and you're slightly relieved about that, to be honest. But it remains significant to you, and you want to study it. In particular, you've started wondering just what kinds of things Dandeer may be capable of... Effect: Begin scholarship into the ways of magic.
Know thine enemy, so that we may better hard-counter her when the time comes.
[X] Making Friends (1 action): You kind of have a small social circle now. Let's fix that! Effect: Take advantage of social opportunities to meet new people and establish relationships.
More friends is a good thing.
[Z] Contacting Jaffur (1 action): Your plan with the Senzus calls for your to find a way to project yourself into Jaffur's mind yet again in order to communicate with him.
We're behind scedual as-is. Also...
-[Z] Check the Conspiracy for hostile magic or moles (1 action)
Guys. Remember, operational security on this is important-especially since we're contemplating treason. We cannot let the chance that Dandeer got to one of the conspirators go unanswered. Besides, as Poptart said:
You would need an action. Your only sorcerer is holed up in Senzu Hall by default, with imprisonment or death as the consequence for leaving.
Which means this action would probably be more like "organize everyone at Senzu Hall to be checked for hostile magic and/or moles."

Except it is not really a plan? If it were, it would exceed our number of actions. The ones at the bottom are the "maybes"

Scion has to do with the saiyan side. I meant it as in legends of the planet Garenhuld. The main reason was meta reasoning because of the title of the update in that it might have information on the new threat but it also has to do with knowing the culture of the Garenhuld humans. It is like becoming an expert in mythology in our world for different pantheons. Sure, we all have some knowledge for from cultural osmosis but it is so big that you need to study it to be "knowleadgeable"

[ ] The Ship Has Been Sunk, Now Hand Out the Life Preservers (1 action)

It does NOT keep our friends alive. Unless You think about danged brought by association with celebrtity (Kakara). Plus, Maya can do it just as well as Kakara. We can just push it to her.
Celebrity danger. I don't want them to participate in the battle but they are Friends of Kakara who just became a very big public figure so I don't want them squishy. It also should smooth things over the whole "we kept ki secret from them thing". If they can learn it, they will probably ask and then we will have to either reject them or make space in our Schedule by, probably, dropping an action given that it happened before.

Actually, another reason. @PoptartProdigy this action includes Jaron as part of the Misfits, right?

[ ] Out To the Club (2 actions):
-[] Drama Club

It is a hobby, nothing more. It will not really synergize with PR much, as things like drama club are very much local. It does not have effect wider than local community. It can matter only as much as Kakara is treated as celebrity - it will be one more thing that celebrity doest. Which does not matter much in bigger picture.

PR as in it makes us look normalish to our schoolmates, not the public at large. You know, the guys we interact with everyday? It is supposed to be local.

Guys. Remember, operational security on this is important-especially since we're contemplating treason. We cannot let the chance that Dandeer got to one of the conspirators go unanswered. Besides, as Poptart said:
I think this is an unnecessary shadowrun that eats up an action for no gain. We've had no indications that we've been compromised, and I sincerely doubt that Dandeer is that much of a mastermind. If she had a mole inside of the conspiracy, she'd be acting very differently, and she'd have Berra acting differently too - namely, she'd have him mind delve us and take all the information they'd need, and he'd shut down the conspiracy now before we're ready. What does she gain from letting us continue organising and preparing?

No, I think Dandeer is a sad, desperate woman who broke under the constant abuse of her husband and did some awful things to try and escape that situation - and then did them to Jaffur too, out of fear that he'd turn into his father (let's face it, he already had a temper and was very poorly socialised). I don't think she's secretly puppeting Berra, and I think that jumping at shadows that aren't there is a waste of an action at a time when we're already action-starved.

We need all the things, and we want even more of the things.

As I see it, we can't really do both Scion actions, and I prefer the human-facing (as it seems most people do). It also synergizes well with the blog, as other have pointed out.

We can't slack, and shouldn't even if we could.

I sorta think we need to let Dad train Maya in combat, and take the sunk ship action (which will include training with Maya) to socialize with her.

I DO NOT support checking our conspiracy members for magic - it is a waste of an action and will almost certainly find nothing.

I think we need to train Tien Style (which will possibly get us another rank in Multiform) openly (meaning Mom will teach us) and research Jaffur Style with Mato.

See, here, you're underestimating her-like this quest's been doing this entire time. The reason there are no indications of being compromised is because Kakara has avoided looking, full stop. If we actually looked, well then we'd settle this question once and for all.
I DO NOT support checking our conspiracy members for magic - it is a waste of an action and will almost certainly find nothing.
'Almost certainly', huh?

If we don't find anything, then whoops, looks like I eat crow. But.

Dandeer is a master mind mage. A master mind mage that will do anything to make sure the world she has right now won't be disturbed. If you want to think she's resting content that no-one is moving against her seal, then fine. But that undersells her and her threat by a mile, and leaves us vulnerable to things going down badly-like, us ending up in our own Seal badly, with no way out.

Being a sad, desperate woman doesn't mean she wouldn't do literally everything she could to make sure what she built doesn't fall-in fact, I just see it as making it more likely she will do these sorts of things, to make sure her world doesn't fall.
