Please remember the story comes from a non-dualist philosophy. Just because you don't contain any evil it doesn't mean you are nothing but good. You could be totally full of neutral, stupid, or custard and be totally safe as well.

I'm sorry, I guess I didn't communicate my concerns very well.

I'm worried about the timing here, that we're being asked to vote on what we've been training for the Dragon before Jaffur gives us a crash course on his technique. I'm just confused by the placement of deciding our training NOW and learning from Jaffur LATER, since depending on how that goes it completely changes what I and probably others will want to vote for. If it goes well and we unlock it, I'd probably like to dump more time into training it up. Same goes for Command Theory. As is, if we vote to unlock it on our own now, we might get hurt or die since we've been warned it's dangerous to learn. And than Jaffur will be like "Christ, Scion, why didn't you wait?!", and we'll be like, "I DONT KNOW, OKAY!!"

Having said that, it's all under the assumption we can put these extra votes in training/leaning Jaffur Style. If we can't, since we already voted to learn it from him, than it seems I've made a mountain out of a molehill! :oops:

Also, pouring one out for PM this turn. :cry:

Right. I think I can handle this one. The vote is how much time we assign to train and what we train. Sincé the dragon is not here yet, that means this training has not happened. Now, it is true that we are going to ask Jaffur to train us in his trick and that we will research it on our own with an action. However, we can assign extra time to train it on our own to ensure we get it right. We can't choose them after we see if we succeed training with Jaffur because we would be training with Jaffur for as long as we can and waiting for after it would leave us without time. That said, even if it were enough to learn it with our already existing actions, further training would still be worth it since it would raise our proficiency with it (say, from untrained to competent) which would in turn decrease our chance of blowing ourselves up as soon as we lapse in concentration (since we have been informed Jaffur almost lew himself up a few times while developing it) which would be useful since it would allow us to use it reliably in battle rather than just for a charged ki blast or something like that.


[x][FIGHT] Cynthia Balor vs. Mitsuba Roma. Not going to be a good fight, and you admit that you're restless. You volunteered as a bonus prize for the winner of this tournament -- one fight with you, in the ring, with no restrictions. You're a little eager to get the end and see who's going to make it to you.

It is not about showing them that our power level is higher. It is about letting them brag that they were allowed to fight the Scion with no restrictions. Plus, I trust us to keep ourselves to a reasonable level of power.

Didn't we already repurpose our conspiracy action to learn Jaffur's style from him? That being the case, wouldn't we hit penalties for it?

Aha. In that case, I may be able to allay your concerns. You vote now because you started training immediately upon getting your vision, and are now retroactively deciding what that's been. However, you simply don't know Jaffur's trick well enough to train it on your own, and won't get enough knowledge to take a regular training action this year. Training with him is the best training you can get.

Why are people voting for Kakara to humiliate herself by fighting on the same level as the other contestants?

Goku when doing his hands in the air position is acting as a bridge between heaven and earth. The divine and the physical. He is not just gathering the energy from the earth but balancing it against the energy of the divine this is why it had to be taught in the next world. The spirt bomb is an odd translation, but it sort of works.

The link goes into far more detail and explains it more poetically.

Genki Dama (元気玉) is a "Ball of Origin Ki" could also be translated as
"Standing Tall between Heaven and Earth".

Interesting thought, although the basic explanation of just gathering ambient energy seems sufficient. Beautifully poetic, though.

    Kakara tried once again to gather the energy of the planet. It wasn't working. She meditated. She could feel the energy. Every blade of grass and ant. Each bit was small by itself, but all together it was huge. Hopefully it would become even greater with her people's active support.

    The problem was that she could not draw that much power to her. No amount of concentration or focusing would make that energy move even one little bit.

    She thought back to her dreams of Jiichan and that world of different energy that she could not sense.

    Wait did the energies just move? What was she doing? She was thinking of the energy in Jiichan's realm. There! it did it again! It twitched.

    After many more hours of work, Kakara realized that the common understanding of the spirit bomb was flawed. It was not just about gathering the energy of the world, but balancing the energy of this world with the next. There was a reason it was called the spirit bomb, not just earth bomb.

    There was a reason Goku had to learn it from North Kai in the next world. You had to place yourself in between this world and the next as energy was constantly flowing out of this world into the realm of spirit. She thought she heard it mentioned in class before, entropy. She simply had to gather that, energy as it flowed out of the world bridge between heaven and Earth.

    Let's just watch. I can't see a reason to make ourselves look pathetic out there.

    Going for Mafuba over Spirit Bomb because it's an insta-win as long as the opponent isn't expecting it. Also synergizes very well with our pacifism, so I'm hoping it gives us some hidden bonus to learning it. Probably too much to hope. Also Kikoho over Tien Style because our fighting style isn't going to help much here, when we're acting as artillery, and Kikoho is the only Tien technique that really will.
     
    I have seen here an excellent proposition about fighting - use multiform to enter as mysterious challenger. We can probably combine it with having to fight us without restrictions as a prize. Two birds with one stone - we can both test ourselves on the level ground and provide excellent motivation (and avoid humiliation when we lose with restrictions if that is applicable, dunno about saiyan customs). For bonus points, if we somehow win (not likely) it would be super-hilarious to watch Kakara fight with herself.

    @PoptartProdigy, is this viable idea?

    To me it seems like a plan with to many moving parts to work and not enough payoff.

    It is not physically impossible, and past that point I have no interest in moderating it. Go for it.
