It takes a moment of thought, but you're willing to give him what he wants, this time. You let an answering grin spread across your own face, and his own grows.

"Sure thing," you say, pushing away from your rock. "If you think you can keep up."

"I haven't just been sitting around," he says, rolling his neck. "Don't be too confident."

You snort. "Well, no need to worry there."

You tone draws his notice. He cocks his head.

"The way I'm here doesn't bring my full power through," you say. "Only about a twentieth of it."

He grunts in annoyance. "Shame. Well, what do you have?"

"Patience, Scion," you say, laughing. "Something I ought to do, first."

He gives you a guarded look. "And?"

You close your eyes for a second, thinking back to your protocol lessons. Vegetans have something for everything, and you reach for protocol number seven- no, not seven, that the death match challenge, never seven.

You reach for protocol thirty-eight, and open your eyes. You put your hands on your thighs and offer a shallow bow. "Scion Jaffur, you have suffered for a long time. This is the fault of your mother and my father both." Active and primary fault, leaving secondary active fault and corrections for responder.

Out of the corner of your eyes, you can see him twitch in surprise. "...secondary blame falls upon your mother," he says, the words coming slowly as he slides into the formula after years of disuse.

"I am not at fault," you say, filling in the next section. "But I was there, and failed to stop it." Responsibility by inaction or failed action, primary; secondary and corrections for responder.

"It was my failure as well," he says, warming to the pattern. "We were the super saiyans. We both failed. My family's failure was secondary."

"I am sorry for the suffering you have endured," you say. "I wish I could have stopped it." Sympathies, and now promises. "I swear that I will see you freed."

He stares at you for a moment. Then he says something -- so quietly, you can't hear it.
"...thank you."
You tense slightly. Crap, did you screw something up? "What?" you ask.

"Nothing," he says, shaking his head. "I accept your apology, and your promises."

You stand, releasing a silent sigh of relief.

Jaffur is giving you a look you don't know how to decipher. "...I'm guessing your father taught you that?" he says.

"He did," you reply. "I, um...I got it right, didn't I?"

He snorts. "Yeah, flawless. Obviously you're not used to it -- bit abrupt starting it up -- but you hit all the steps." He shifts, looking a little uncomfortable. "So...we doing this, or what?"

You perk up a bit. "Yeah, we are." You form a ball of ki in your hand. "I actually have a new trick I wanted to test out, and this is the best place for it."

His eyes light up. "That so? What is it?"

You grin. "You'll see. Just remember-"

"-power level, yeah," he replies, settling into a stance and firing up his aura. It snaps into his usual trick, clinging to his body. "I'll be careful."

"Alright, then," you reply. You throw the power ball past him. "Burst open and mix!"

The ball pops behind your fellow Scion, and you feel your muscles seize up.

Jaffur gives you a disappointed look, his guard dropping. "Wha- Oozaru? Are you kidding me? Free to experiment and try anything you wanted, free to build up Super Saiyan as much as you liked, and you went with Oozaru?"

You swell, fur spreading across your body and snarling in exertion, you voice dropping several octaves. "He- heh. Don't...count me out."

He crosses his arms. "What, gonna sit on me?"

The transformation finishes. You grin. "Don't tempt me. HA!"

The air pulses yellow as you transform. Jaffur skips back with a shocked yell. He stares up at you.

You cackle in glee and open your mouth.

SKREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEBANG

A beam blasts forth from your mouth and impacts on the floor. Jaffur rockets out of the dust cloud and comes to a halt at your head level, unscathed.

He's absent his usual smirk. Instead, his gaze fixes on you with honest, disarmed admiration and awe. "Incredible," he says.

You smirk and feel yourself out. Power level's cut, just as expected, but also just as expected, while your speed is cut in half, you're tougher and stronger than ever.

You pound a fist the size of a car into your palm. "Right, then. You waiting for something?"

Jaffur snaps out of his stupor, throws back his head, and laughs. "You've changed!" he says. "Let's see if it's enough! Charon's Breath!" He brings his hand back to his shoulder before bringing it around. The beam is right on target. You knock it aside with only a minor singe, and fire another mouth beam. He dodges, but you're already mid-leap, swiping at him from above. As he dodges, you fire again and send him tumbling through the air.

"Enough that I didn't let you hit me with that again," you say, watching him right himself.

He shakes his hair out of his eyes. "Good." And then he blurs into motion, catapulting blast after blast at you so quickly you can hardly track them.

You block the first two without trouble, but the twenty after sting. You snarl and lash out with a blast of your own, but Jaffur has already moved on, and another hail hits you from the side. You turn, and blast, and he moves on again.

After a few moments the two of you start to stalemate as you grow used to the pattern. He launches a salvo, you block and respond, he evades. After a few exchanges that go nowhere, you break the tense silence. "So I'm guessing that you have questions?"

He blurs back into view, hanging back a bit out of reach. "A few. How about you?"

"They can wait," you say. "I need to tell you what's been happening."

"Please," he says, letting his aura flicker out as the two of you settle into a momentary ceasefire. "How did Maya get involved? I don't think anything has shocked Jaron as much as that did."

"She's a ki mutant," you reply. "She figured out that I had, 'powers,' after I was a little careless when we all started sparring."

"Hm, before Jaron joined you," says Jaffur. "Otherwise I'm sure he would've noticed too. So, is she in on the Masquerade?"

"Only for ki," you say. "We're planning on telling her the rest before the aliens come, though."

He nods. "I suppose she'd almost have to notice eventually, if you're teaching her. But if she's not helping with that, what have you been doing? You told me that you'd found my cousins?"

"I did," you say, drawing your hand back and getting ready to start the spar again. "I've been working with them for over a year. Dodonpa!"

Jaffur lights up and dodges the strike before zooming towards you along the ground. "Uncle Raditz always has a plan."

tsew

He phases in right in front of your face and kicks you in the nose. You snarl and fire blind, grinning when you hear an, "Oof," from him.

When the stars clear form your vision, you see him recovering almost a mile away. "Got some distance there," he says with a breathless laugh. "What's the plan?"

"Dandelor," you say, folding your hands together. "KIKOHO!"

His eyes widen, and he tried to dodge, but the edge of the blast clips him and he spirals into the ground with a yell. A cloud of debris scatters everywhere.

Then the ground thumps, and blue light clears away the cloud. He drags his aura back in with ease. "You have been practicing." He folds his arms. "What does Uncle Dandelor plan to do?"

You sigh. "...Jaffur, he had to tell us."

He stares for a moment. Then you see his eyes close as he sighs. "...darn it, I was hoping...well, whatever." He opens his eyes again and gives you a rueful smirk. "At least we both know each other's secrets, right? 'Cause you're a..." He blinks. "...no Scion has ever been a Sorcerer. Or a Seer. And there's two of us."

Silence falls, broken only by the hissing of your auras.

"...what the heck are we-?"

"I don't know."

You stare at each other for a moment.

After a moment, Jaffur defaults to his usual. "Focus Ray."

You hit the deck. "CHEEKY LITTLE-!" You roll to your feet. "KAMEHAMEHA!"

He laughs merrily as he tumbles out of the way of the beam and hits you with a small blast in return. "So, what's Uncle Dandelor's plan?"

"GET BACK HERE!" you roar, charging at him.

"Oh, come on," he says, drifting lazily backwards. "You know you can't catch up like that. I'm already faster."

You snarl. "DODONPA!"

He goes through a little loop. "...so you actually seem slower than you should be right now. I didn't think Oozaru worked like that."

You come to a halt, glaring. "...it doesn't, usually. Golden oozaru is different. It only doubles my base strength, not super saiyan."

He frowns. "...look, I don't like math. I'm not a Transmission user. I don't know how that works out."

Your eye twitches. "It means I'm getting less than twice my original power level as a super saiyan, but half of what my speed should be as a golden oozaru."

He looks annoyed for a moment before casting his eyes up and muttering figures under his breath for a moment. "...okay. I think I've got it."

You sigh. "Good enough."

"There has to be a way to fix that," he says, touching down absent-mindedly. "If you could just-"
Deceit, Kakara vs. Jaffur: 73 vs. 42
WHAM

Jaffur yelps as your fist pounds him into the ground. You snatch him up before he can recover and squeeze, holding his limbs in to his sides. You lift him up to eye level. "Gotcha."

He gives you a strained grin. "CHARON'S BREATH!" His mouth opens, and you have just enough time to jerk your head to the side so the beam hits your cheek instead of your nose as it screeches out of his mouth. He slips out of your grip and flashes away. "You didn't think that was just a name, did you?"

You grumble under your breath, rubbing at the burn on your cheek. "Yeah, yeah. You know I would have bashed you against the ground instead of gloating if this were a real fight, right?"

He shrugs. "And I wouldn't have let my guard down. Call it a draw?"

You sigh. "Sure." You turn and blast your power ball out of the sky before suppressing the transformation. "Anyway, I'm going to need you to turn around for a second." You shift uncomfortably as you resume human form.

He gives you a quizzical look. "...why?"

You grimace. "There's always a little bit of hair that sticks around loose."

He cocks his head. "...and?"

You sigh and grab the hem of your shirt, lifting it by an inch. "Turn around."

tsew

He phases, he turns so quickly. He stares determinedly off into the middle distance, back stiff.

You lift up the hem and jump a few times, strands of thick brown hair falling out in a little shower. You brush yourself off and let the shirt fall again. "I don't know why it doesn't all go back in. You can turn around now."

He turns, flushing brightly. "...it doesn't stick around down-"

"It does, but I have underwear, so it's not worth taking them off," you say, blushing yourself. "Just...stop talking."

"Right," he says, shaking his head.

You sigh and go to sit on a rock. After a moment, he sits down on another across from you.

"...what even are these things?" you ask, patting the rock.

He twitches as you do. "...my memories."

You jerk up into the air. "What?!"

"I touch them and I see the memory," he says, shrugging. "I don't know why it works that way. You can sit down. I feel it if you touch it, but I can ignore it if I know it's coming."

"...so can we destroy these if we're not careful?" you asks, setting down.

"Sure we can," he says. "New ones pop up after a while to replace them."

You nod, and silence falls for a moment. "...wait, you tested this?"

He gives you a sardonic look. "Wondering why?"

You wince. "No."

Again, a quiet falls. Jaffur leans back against his rock, looking into the sky. After a moment, you follow suit. The sky isn't showing anything at the moment; it's just blank. You wonder if that means Jaron's asleep. It'd be the right time for it.

"What's the plan with Uncle Dandelor?" asks Jaffur.

"Now that I know I can find you, I'm going to be running messages from him," you say. "He's going to teach you enough that you can burn down the Seal from the inside."

He looks up at you. "What about Jaron? I'm not hurting him."

"You don't have to," you say, lifting yourself up onto your elbows. "That's Dandelor's job. He'll keep Jaron safe while you burn everything else."

Jaffur sighs in relief. "How are you going to do that, though? You told me that my mother sets watchers."

You shrug. "I can use Instant Transmission. I'll have to save it for when we need it, but I can get him out to the Senzus and under their wards. Then we get you out, and my Grandma, your Grandpa, you, and me, rally together all the supporters we've spent the past few years gathering and tell my Dad and your Mom that the Sealing is done, and it's not coming back."

He nods, but he looks conflicted. Whatever it is, though, he doesn't give it voice, looking off to the side. "...do you know what time it is?"

You blink. "Uh, no? I mean, I don't think I've been here an hour."

"You haven't," he says without thinking. "I just wanted to know what time it was when you left."

"Eight, maybe? How do you know it hasn't been an hour?"

"Jaron never takes more than an hour to make his way here after he falls asleep," says Jaffur.

You blink. What? I knew Jaron came here in his sleep sometimes, but it sounds like he shows up every night!

As before, choose all that apply, with the top three results winning.

[ ] Jaffur! Explain!
[ ] Chat (may be chosen multiple times; choose once per subject; no sub-vote spam).
[ ] Hug. It's never too late.
[ ] Punch him in the face. Because reasons.
[ ] Write-In.
[-] Any variant of, "No Hug." It lost, folks.

THIS VOTE IS NOW CLOSED.

I had a lot of fun writing these two bouncing off of each other.

We'll go a few rounds of this format before I start offering the option for Kakara to leave. Technically you're mission complete here, but I'm sure you'd riot if I brought it to a halt now. ;)

I hope you enjoyed the fight scene! I hope you enjoyed the talking! I hope you enjoyed in general! And I hope you have fun with the discussion. I'll see you all around the thread!

Jaffur is a lot better than I thought he'd be. Temperament, sanity, and mental health all seem to be well above adequate. Better than anything we'd seen from him before, actually.

Eeee~!

Ah, this is a good day. I get my first good sleep in months, I get to see Spider-man Homecoming, spend my time with my parents and get back to this! *rolls on the floor in glee*

[jk] Hug. It's never too late.

as if I would choose anything else if this is option.

edited to take the vote away...
sorry!

PM as a lot of players are conceiving it is overpowered, and certainly something hundreds of thousands of saiyans with hundreds of years to work on it would have figured out if it were just, "There are now four of you, no downsides". Even Cell didn't use it after he stopped playing around, and there have been other geniuses since then. If anything, the power limits would incentivize its investigation.
Similar arguments apply to Machine Sense as a ki talent, the power-enhancing ki-compression technique used by Jaffur, and so on.

"If it were possible to invent this, everyone would be doing it, so it's impossible" only works in situations where you have reason to think that the threshold for inventing it is low enough that it 'should' be invented by the people actively working on it. Things harder to reinvent don't get reinvented, as illustrated by generations of Exiles' failure to reinvent the fusion dance, which would be a "killer app" on the same level as Multiform.

Kakara is explicitly an unusual ki prodigy, with extraordinary intelligence and drive. It's very much plausible that she could invent something no other saiyan in Exile history did, something desirable enough that plenty of other Exiles try.

Guys, let's just bring up everything we want to chat about and set up with him, and then we can compile it into a vote. Thoughts?

Well listing her advantages you might as well mention that she is a seer and sometimes gets hunches.

It was a lot of fun reading. I really hope we get to talk more with Jaffur.

God, that was adorable.
Glad you all are so thrilled. :) Always nice to make somebody's day.

[]Chat: Mention that this is the first time you have been able to actually use the Golden Oozaru since you discovered because the wards can't take it. You might make these spars a regular thing well delivering messages.
[]How much does Jaron know? Will it be a problem if you are here when he comes?

A few other things: some things have been reinvented, but part of the anti-innovation attitude of the humam Garenhulders have rubbed off on them.

The most likely reason for it not being a massive boon would be stamina loss: with Multiform, while each body only has a fraction of the power, they would also only use a fraction of the stamina, plus the cost of maintaining Multiform. With the Perfected variation, each clone would be using their fullpower, and therefore full stamina loss, meaning the user burns through their energy several times faster, plus the cost of the technique, which is likely higher as well.

No need to make up downsides. It is not like people have already invented it and decided it wasn't worthwhile.

Actually, I think I remember there being something about it being straining/exhausting earlier in the thread, hence why I brought it up.
@PoptartProdigy, what was the story behind Mum learning Frieza Style?
Um, what?
@PoptartProdigy, would inventing Perfect Multiform unlock Elite Multiform?
Perfect Multiform is Elite Multiform. More specifically, and Elite Talent. This has been mentioned in-thread repeatedly.
