I don't get what the big deal is about Golden Ape, honestly. The power level difference isn't that big and it's just the same old Great Ape except yellow.
Well, a few things:
1) As Aranfan said, it was thought impossible.
2) It's new, and something that their ancestors never came up with.
3) It implies that there may be more transformations/transformation combinations out there.
4) The form, while suffering the speed penalties of USSJ, and having only 80% of the blasting strength, does not experience the crushing endurance penalties, and is in fact 20% stronger physically.

I did? Point 4 was drawn from that, and previous statements you've made.
Golden Oozaru Power Level: 1.5 Billion (At Cap, speed of 750 million, durability and strength of 2.25 Billion).
You've previously mentioned that the boost from USSJ only applies to the SSJ boost, as the front page confirms:
-Ultimate Super Saiyan. An inefficient and wasteful transformation, it is nonetheless a potent magnification of your abilities. If you need a lot of power for a big damn blast, you can use this to double the boost you receive from Super Saiyan.
And you've previously mentioned that the speed boost malus only applies to the Super Saiyan boost as well, and that Golden Oozaru is equal in speed to a FPUSSJ.

Now, the boost from FPSSJ is up to 750 million, so double that is 1.5 billion. So FPSSJ would look like this:
Ultra(Ultimate?) Super Saiyan Boost: 1.5 billion (At Cap, Speed of 375 million).

Total Transformed Power: 1.875 billion (Speed of 750 million).

Now, while I was initially unsure if the "strength" part also applied to blasting strength, the basic Oozaru profile clarified:
Oozaru, Mastered. Like any Saiyan with a tail, a simple glance upwards on the night of a full moon is all you need to become a colossal, ravening beast. After a long time spent practicing, you now can control this form. In it, your durability and raw strength are boosted by half again your nominal power level, but your speed is only half of your nominal power level. You experience no strain in this form, and can maintain it indefinitely. You of course also know the Power Ball technique.
That, to me, says that blasting power is proportional to the PL, which makes sense.

Now, let's compare USSJ to Golden Oozaru:

USSJ: 1.875 billion (Speed of 750 million)
Golden Oozaru: 1.5 Billion (Speed of 750 million, durability and strength of 2.25 Billion)

As we can plainly see, Speed is equal like I said, Golden Oozaru has only 80% of the blasting power USSJ has, but 120% the raw physical strength and durability of USSJ. You've mentioned that USSJ has severe power-draining issues, while both Oozaru and FPSSJ have little to none, so it's therefore logical that Golden Oozaru would not suffer such a crippling defect, which indeed shows up nowhere in the description:
Oozaru, Mastered. Like any Saiyan with a tail, a simple glance upwards on the night of a full moon is all you need to become a colossal, ravening beast. After a long time spent practicing, you now can control this form. Golden Oozaru, Grade One. You have discovered the secret of the Oozaru form, and transformed into a Super Saiyan whilst in it. This form does the same things to your durability, speed, and strength as normal Oozaru does. You suspect that if the Masquerade ever falls and Scions are permitted to try and break through to higher transformations, you will be able to use them as an Oozaru as well. Currently you can't use this form to its fullest extent even in the Training Hall for fear of breaking the wards, but fortunately you can still modulate how much of the Super Saiyan boost you access.
So, as far as I can tell, I made no mistake?

Well listing her advantages you might as well mention that she is a seer and sometimes gets hunches.
That is also true; she's one of the (apparent) minority of Seers in Exile history to actually have enough raw power and skill at ki manipulation to do independent research into ki techniques.

A few other things: some things have been reinvented, but part of the anti-innovation attitude of the humam Garenhulders have rubbed off on them.
Also a good reason.

And yes, the Exiles have certainly rediscovered a lot of the Z fighters' old techniques, with the conspicuous exceptions being things that are dangerous, unique, or taught only by gods... But they have very few entirely new techniques of their own, at least as far as we know. Though some of that may just be the deification of the Z fighters; if you have access to the combat techniques used by the gods themselves, why would you expect to be able to do better on your own?

The most likely reason for it not being a massive boon would be stamina loss: with Multiform, while each body only has a fraction of the power, they would also only use a fraction of the stamina, plus the cost of maintaining Multiform. With the Perfected variation, each clone would be using their fullpower, and therefore full stamina loss, meaning the user burns through their energy several times faster, plus the cost of the technique, which is likely higher as well.
That's very plausible. On the other hand it still makes the technique potentially very advantageous, especially combined with Golden Oozaru (or for that matter regular Oozaru if you're not up against a heavy hitter). Think about it: the point of going ape is enhanced strength and stamina, but in a protracted battle against a peer opponent the reduced agility tends to be a big drawback. You can easily accumulate a beating over time until a long battle becomes disadvantageous anyway... so what do you have to lose by burning your massive pool of stamina faster in order to quickly overwhelm the enemy with a combination of sheer numbers and exceptional hitting power?

Jaffur is a lot better than I thought he'd be. Temperament, sanity, and mental health all seem to be well above adequate. Better than anything we'd seen from him before, actually.
Regular social contact with Jaron may be helping? I mean, we thought Jaffur was effectively locked in solitary confinement for years, which would be enough to drive anyone crazy. But if in reality he's been interacting with Jaron in Jaron's sleep for an average of, oh, a few subjective hours a night? I can see him keeping his sanity a lot better, especially if he also has the ability to do things like share Jaron's senses some of the time too.

I would like to say that I loved how Jaffur's jaw dropped when we revealed Golden Oozaru.
I know, right!?

Did Jaffur untraumatize himself or is that repression? I have no idea how to think about this from a mental health perspective.
I think the phrasing is meant to imply that blowing up the rocks doesn't actually blow up the memories, new rocks arise to represent the same memories.

When I see a better vote I'll go for it
Uh, @Blonddude42 ? You do remember how this works, right? You don't HAVE to vote for things you think are a bad idea, or might be a bad idea. You can just vote for literally every single thing you approve of. It's fine to only vote for one or two things, or to vote for four or more things.

If you think teasing Jaffur is a good idea, well... um, I respectfully disagree and don't understand why you'd think that. If you don't think it's a good idea, then it's probably a mistake to lend "tease Jaffur" your support by voting for it, because this isn't a "plan" vote where you have to accept all the parts of an idea whether you like them or not.

@PoptartProdigy, what was the story behind Mum learning Frieza Style?
Pretty sure there isn't one; the only time they were mentioned in the same sentence as far as I can tell is when Poptart told us that Mom can't teach us that style, presumably because she never learned it or even considered doing so.

The style is just less foreign to her, tactically, than Piccolo Style. If it weren't both socially stigmatized and super-lethal, she'd probably know it, I guess? But since it's both, she doesn't.

I don't get what the big deal is about Golden Ape, honestly. The power level difference isn't that big and it's just the same old Great Ape except yellow.
Firstly, it's a genuinely new form, something the Exiles have never even heard of. It's not just a "new technique" in the form of "a new kind of ray attack like the several others known to the Exiles," it's really new.

Secondly, it has extraordinary potential in certain highly specific roles. It is (within the Exile world) unmatched in terms of things like beam duels.

Thirdly, it restores some of the same "whoa, crap that's big and strong and scary" feeling that a regular saiyan would experience around an oozaru. In this society, the full-power royals have very little experience of anything being stronger than themselves, so anything that captures that experience is going to earn their respect.

Fourthly, if you are a super-saiyan, it's something you can do, an immediately applicable discovery rather than just a weird unique gimmick. Anyone who knows about this form can unlock this form... and yet no one ever did, until Kakara. Which makes it seem especially impressive, in a "I could have done that, shit why didn't I think of that" way.

[X] Jaffur! Explain!
[X] Chat (what happened that night)
[X] Chat (His plan after gaining freedom)

I'd like to advocate for staying 'on target' with this next update. Getting onto terms with Jaffur that allow for some trust, and informing him about the core of the plans for breaking the Seal? Those were our top priorities. Incidentally, that covers the reason I voted 'hug' in the first place.

If Priority One is "get Jaffur to trust us with some sparring and social contact" and Priority Two is "tell Jaffur we have a plan to get him out of confinement," Priority Three is "find out what happened during the Sealing" (information no one else but Dandeer can possibly share with us). Priorities Four through Infinity are a bit more flexible, but "prepare ourselves for Jaffur's likely agenda on breaking out of the Seal" is high on the list.

Pursuant to all that, I really want to know what happened on the night of the Sealing from Jaffur's perspective.

Moreover, in the context of this coming update, I'd like us to cover some of the "saiyan stuff" issues right away. Among other things, because we've just been informed Jaron will be here soon. I don't know if it's safe to discuss the Sealing in front of Jaron, or whether Jaron knows Jaffur has the potential to become an independent being again. Although "Jaffur, explain!" is likely to tell us a lot about how much Jaron knows.

It takes a moment of thought, but you're willing to give him what he wants, this time. You let an answering grin spread across your own face, and his own grows.

"Sure thing," you say, pushing away from your rock. "If you think you can keep up."

"I haven't just been sitting around," he says, rolling his neck. "Don't be too confident."

You snort. "Well, no need to worry there."

You tone draws his notice. He cocks his head.

"The way I'm here doesn't bring my full power through," you say. "Only about a twentieth of it."

He grunts in annoyance. "Shame. Well, what do you have?"

What we have is 1/20th of Golden ape's power level, which translates to 75 millón. Which would be around 37 millón speed and 100 millón strenght? I ask because Jaffur didn't have much troubl with it even though he didn't turn super saiyan during the fight.

You reach for protocol thirty-eight, and open your eyes. You put your hands on your thighs and offer a shallow bow. "Scion Jaffur, you have suffered for a long time. This is the fault of your mother and my father both." Active and primary fault, leaving secondary active fault and corrections for responder.

Out of the corner of your eyes, you can see him twitch in surprise. "...secondary blame falls upon your mother," he says, the words coming slowly as he slides into the formula after years of disuse.

"I am not at fault," you say, filling in the next section. "But I was there, and failed to stop it." Responsibility by inaction or failed action, primary; secondary and corrections for responder.

"It was my failure as well," he says, warming to the pattern. "We were the super saiyans. We both failed. My family's failure was secondary."

"I am sorry for the suffering you have endured," you say. "I wish I could have stopped it." Sympathies, and now promises. "I swear that I will see you freed."

He stares at you for a moment. Then he says something -- so quietly, you can't hear it.
"...thank you."
You tense slightly. Crap, did you screw something up? "What?" you ask.

"Nothing," he says, shaking his head. "I accept your apology, and your promises."

SL unlocked. Keep that up and we can start healing the sundering once he is out.

Jaffur is giving you a look you don't know how to decipher. "...I'm guessing your father taught you that?" he says.

"He did," you reply. "I, um...I got it right, didn't I?"

Jaffur: A normal Lord and Scion relationship... eerie that.

He crosses his arms. "What, gonna sit on me?"

The transformation finishes. You grin. "Don't tempt me. HA!"

... you know, this interaction would have a completely different context if they were a few years older.

The air pulses yellow as you transform. Jaffur skips back with a shocked yell. He stares up at you.

You cackle in glee and open your mouth.

SKREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEBANG

A beam blasts forth from your mouth and impacts on the floor. Jaffur rockets out of the dust cloud and comes to a halt at your head level, unscathed.

He's absent his usual smirk. Instead, his gaze fixes on you with honest, disarmed admiration and awe. "Incredible," he says.
So good... worship us more! As you should!

Seriously, it is good to get respect regarding combat from the combat maniac, specially given how our first spar ended.
Jaffur snaps out of his stupor, throws back his head, and laughs. "You've changed!" he says. "Let's see if it's enough! Charon's Breath!" He brings his hand back to his shoulder before bringing it around. The beam is right on target. You knock it aside with only a minor singe, and fire another mouth beam. He dodges, but you're already mid-leap, swiping at him from above. As he dodges, you fire again and send him tumbling through the air.

"Enough that I didn't let you hit me with that again," you say, watching him right himself.

He shakes his hair out of his eyes. "Good." And then he blurs into motion, catapulting blast after blast at you so quickly you can hardly track them.
Good to see him having fun like a child too. If we are the only ones who can challenge him so and he loves fighting so much then periodic spars once he is out would help cross-clan relations.
"Please," he says, letting his aura flicker out as the two of you settle into a momentary ceasefire. "How did Maya get involved? I don't think anything has shocked Jaron as much as that did."

"She's a ki mutant," you reply. "She figured out that I had, "powers," after I was a little careless when we all started sparring."

"Hm, before Jaron joined you," says Jaffur. "Otherwise I'm sure he would've noticed too. So, is she in on the Masquerade?"

"Only for ki," you say. "We're planning on telling her the rest before the aliens come, though."

Note the wording: It wasn't the fact there were super powers but that Maya was the one who had them that surprised him the most...

Jaffur, have you been talked about us behind our backs?

He phases in right in front of your face and kicks you in the nose. You snarl and fire blind, grinning when you hear an, "Oof," from him.
So, satisfying.
When the stars clear form your vision, you see him recovering almost a mile away. "Got some distance there," he says with a breathless laugh. "What's the plan?"

"Dandelor," you say, folding your hands together. "KIKOHO!"

His eyes widen, and he tried to dodge, but the edge of the blast clips him and he spirals into the ground with a yell. A cloud of debris scatters everywhere.
I WAS WRONG! THIS IS SATISFYING! GOSH DARN, I'VE BEEN WAITING THE WHOLE QUEST FOR AN OOZARU FUELED KIKOHO!
He stares for a moment. Then you see his eyes close as he sighs. "...darn it, I was hoping...well, whatever." He opens his eyes again and gives you a rueful smirk. "I'm guessing that's you as well?"

"No, actually," you say. "I'm a seer."

His jaw drops.

Silence falls, broken only by the hissing of your auras.

"...what the heck are we-?"

"I don't know."

You stare at each other for a moment.
Nice to see them about appreciating the bulshit of the situation in-quest. It really is starting to seem to them like they are meant for greater things.

Well, Kakara already talked with a god but she is pretty cavalier about it.
After a moment, Jaffur defaults to his usual. "Focus Ray."
Always the master diplomat. When in doubt, blast it.
You hit the deck. "CHEEKY LITTLE-!" You roll to your feet. "KAMEHAMEHA!"

He laughs merrily as he tumbles out of the way of the beam and hits you with a small blast in return. "So, what's Uncle Dandelor's plan?"

"GET BACK HERE!" you roar, charging at him.

"Oh, come on," he says, drifting lazily backwards. "You know you can't catch up like that. I'm already faster."

You snarl. "DODONPA!"
Again, it is enjoyable to see them have fun and be kids.
You come to a halt, glaring. "...it doesn't, usually. Golden oozaru is different. It only doubles my base strength, not super saiyan."

He frowns. "...look, I don't like math. I'm not a Transmission user. I don't know how that works out."

Your eye twitches. "It means I'm getting less than twice my original power level as a super saiyan, but half of what my speed should be as a golden oozaru."

He looks annoyed for a moment before casting his eyes up and muttering figures under his breath for a moment. "...okay. I think I've got it."

You sigh. "Good enough."

Right. Jaffur was the literatura major of the team, not the mathematician.

It was 1.5 billón PL, 2.25 billón strength and 750 millón speed. PL level is calculated by twice the base plus SS boost. Speed and strength are dependant on the body shape after calculating the total PL.

The USS... I don't particularly remember the calculations.

You sigh. "Sure." You turn and blast your power ball out of the sky before suppressing the transformation. "Anyway, I'm going to need you to turn around for a second." You shift uncomfortably as you resume human form.

He gives you a quizzical look. "...why?"

You grimace. "There's always a little bit of hair that sticks around loose."

He cocks his head. "...and?"

You sigh and grab the hem of your shirt, lifting it by an inch. "Turn around."

tsew

He phases, he turns so quickly. He stares determinedly off into the middle distance, back stiff.

You lift up the hem and jump a few times, strands of thick brown hair falling out in a little shower. You brush yourself off and let the shirt fall again. "I don't know why it doesn't all go back in. You can turn around now."

He turns, flushing brightly. "...it doesn't stick around down-"

"It does, but I have underwear, so it's not worth taking them off," you say, blushing yourself. "Just...stop talking."

"Right," he says, shaking his head.

... screw it.

THE CLANS MUST BE UNITED!

Though that would screw with the number of super saiyans which in turn would increase the chance of a successful rebellion...

I MUST PONDER ON THIS!

"...what even are these things?" you ask, patting the rock.

He twitches as you do. "...my memories."

You jerk up into the air. "What?!"

"I touch them and I see the memory," he says, shrugging. "I don't know why it works that way. You can sit down. I feel it if you touch it, but I can ignore it if I know it's coming."

"...so can we destroy these if we're not careful?" you asks, setting down.

"Sure we can," he says. "New ones pop up after a while to replace them."

You nod, and silence falls for a moment. "...wait, you tested this?"

He gives you a sardonic look. "Wondering why?"

You wince. "No."
So, if the memories are recovered after a while, does that mean he can't Access them while they are destroyed? Would that let him fool a mind delve? Also, if these are Jaffur's memories, where are Jaron's?
"What's the plan with Uncle Dandelor?" asks Jaffur.

"Now that I know I can find you, I'm going to be running messages from him," you say. "He's going to teach you enough that you can burn down the Seal from the inside."

He looks up at you. "What about Jaron? I'm not hurting him."

"You don't have to," you say, lifting yourself up onto your elbows. "That's Dandelor's job. He'll keep Jaron safe while you burn everything else."
Would we get a basic grounding on magic from running these messages?
You shrug. "I can use Instant Transmission. I'll have to save it for when we need it, but I can get him out to the Senzus and under their wards. Then we get you out, and my Grandma, your Grandpa, you, and me, rally together all the supporters we've spent the past few years gathering and tell my Dad and your Mom that the Sealing is done, and it's not coming back."

He nods, but he looks conflicted. Whatever it is, though, he doesn't give it voice, looking off to the side. "...do you know what time it is?"

What has him nervous? The lack of GLORIOUS BATTLE, the lack of mention of his father or is he unsure it will be that easy?

"Eight, maybe? How do you know it hasn't been an hour?"

"Jaron never takes more than an hour to make his way here after he falls asleep," says Jaffur.

You blink. What? I knew Jaron came here in his sleep sometimes, but it sounds like he shows up every night!

I like the parallels that keep coming up between us. Also, that whenever he tells us something new we can one up him:

Jaron: That is my secret. When I sleep, I dream of my unborn brother who teaches me how to fight.
Karkara: That's cool. When I sleep, I dream of my distant ancestor who ascended to godhood because of his martial skill.
Jaron: Well, uh, does he teach you how to fight?
Kakara: No, he just reminds me that he and my family love me and that I am fine the way I am.
Jaffur: ... god damn it, Scion.

Though we might want to think an excuse in case Jaron finds us here.

Jaron: Karen! What are you doing here?:o
Karen: Sparring with your brother.;) *Hand on hip* Why else would you dream about me? :???:
Jaron:
Karen: *sing-song-voice* Oh, Jaron ~ Should I be telling Sophie about this? ~ :ogles: :D
Jaron: Not even in dreams can I escape the teasing!
Jaffur:

Though I guess that raises the most important question we can ask, if Jaffur is actually a shipper when it comes to Sophie and his brother. The answer might define whether we can be Friends with our fellow Scion or not:mob:

Your phrasing implies that golden oozaru has 80% and 120% of ordinary Kakara, rather than of USSJ. Clarified now. :D
Would we get a basic grounding on magic from running these messages?
Sadly no. Even Jaffur isn't going to get a skill up from this, any more than you generally skilled up in Seer abilities from training Mind Projection.

Easy fix-the entire royal family can go SSJ, but only the King/Queen can reach the higher levels.
Or, I mean, you could preserve the current count mostly at least by extending Lord/Lady privileges to the spouses. currently Berra's wife/Kakara's mom who's name escapes me and Dandeer don't have that right.

But expanding that to spouses would make it five, six if doing arranged marriage.

Your phrasing implies that golden oozaru has 80% and 120% of ordinary Kakara, rather than of USSJ. Clarified now. :D
*blinks* I don't see how I implied that at all? I started off with direct mention of how it compares to USSJ, priming you to think about it in terms of USSJ, then kept up the comparisons, with the "crushing endurance penalties" bit being a clear indication I am indeed still talking about USSJ.

This is a genuine question, incidentally. Need to figure out what I did wrong to avoid it in the future, afterall.
THE CLANS MUST BE UNITED!

I MUST PONDER ON THIS!
Bah. Just continue having multiple Scions/Lords. Draw from non-direct sources, if necessary. 1 Lord and Scion, born from lineage, 1 Lord and Scion, selected from the population.

I read it as a strict comparison to USSJ personally.

4) The form, while suffering the speed penalties of USSJ, and having only 80% of the blasting strength, does not experience the crushing endurance penalties, and is in fact 20% stronger physically.
I mean, if you wanted to make absolutely sure of no confusion, redundancy is king;

4) The form, while suffering the speed penalties of USSJ, and having only 80% of the blasting strength of USSJ, does not experience the crushing endurance penalties of USSJ, and is in fact 20% stronger physically than USSJ.

would be the indisputably clear framing version, same message just with the words already implicitly there moved to explicitly existing.
