Seeing all these music suggestions...

...it fills you with DETERMINATION.

Thanks, folks. Made my day. :D

In a more generalized announcement, one not directed at any particular user, let's bring things way back, please. Nobody has violated Rule 3 yet, but I doubt anybody is having fun with the ongoing argument. Let's just let it go; I've made my rulings on the matter.

My mind should not have immediately jumped to that song.

In any case @PoptartProdigy

How is the planet (the human bit anyway) tech wise out of curiosity?

I'm guessing about IRL, but with their lack of curiosity.
About IRL, with some differences. First of all, no space infrastructure of any kind; no Garenhulder human has ever broken atmosphere. Rocketry is not a well-studied art in general, with the most powerful rockets being able only to hit the extreme upper atmosphere. Additionally, while their ground-based infrastructure technologies are more advanced than IRL Earth's they're very underutilized; Garenhulders really tend to bunch up, meaning that vast swathes of the planet are uninhabited. The city centers have surprisingly low overcrowding, on the other hand, and communications between them and their outlying farmers suffer from very little congestion.

No sateleights?

mmm.

Well its all the better for us I suppose.

Still this really does feel like an anime or whatever, with the whole secret society that no humans know about?

MC would either be Maya or Jaron of course :D, but I much prefer Kakara.

Maya's series would play like a magical girl anime. Jaron's would be like a slice of life anime.

Both would promptly lose all of their viewers once it became obvious that they were actually in a shounen series. :lol

So anyway, back to the update.

So I'm guessing the aliens aren't sticking out like sore thumbs.

And they left their ship undefended, which means they aren't afraid of it being found...

I'm assuming our forces haven't been broadcasting their presence, so we haven't been showing power levels in the millions...

The enemy is either very stupid or very clever.

Obviously, the only solution is to carpet-bomb Garenhuld and start over on a new planet.

Or, it starts with the Jaron slice of life. Season 2 is maya as a Magical Girl, with increasingly less subtle hints that it's a dragon ball spinoff. Third season the show focuses on Kakara and it becomes entirely obvious that she is a Saiyan.

With weird dream sequences with a "dream jaron" becoming increasingly more common.

That's time enough. Vote closed.

[X] "Hopeful" : Above all things, Kakara hopes and believes in making tomorrow better than today. All of the political effort, all the training, everything, it's not just about righting past wrongs, but about making things in the future better. Kakara believes this is possible. She holds onto that hope, uses it as the core of her drive to change herself and others. Not to mold them or force them or beat them down, but to lift them up, to perceive and strive for the hope that anyone can be better. Grandpa Gohan didn't have much hope for Jaffur, but he admitted he was wrong. Maybe what the Exiles need now is some Hope, a vision to be stirred toward.

[X] "Passionate." You are alive in a way it seems few other people are. When you look at the world, you see it exploding with amazing things that you want to experience or possess. You can do no less than to burn just as brightly.

[X] "Organized." This is not a matter of dramatics. You have your goals. What does it take to achieve them? All else falls away once you have determined that.

[x] Yes. You can trust him with this. ("Recruit Sensei Carrick" option occurs next year; even if you don't take it, somebody will approach him to bring him in)

[X] No. Patriarch Yammar makes good points about his reliability. You don't really know him yet. ("Recruit Sensei Carrick" options are permanently struck from the yearly options and will not reappear in the absence of new information; your co-conspirators will respect your judgment as the one who knows this man most on a matter as delicate as this)

Here's our winning action plan:

...huh. Could've sworn "no" was leading. Guess the "no" voters were just more vocal. I'll review the text of the "Hopeful" trait just for grammar and the like and add it in tomorrow.

And speaking of tomorrow, that's when you'll get your update! It's late. I'll see you tomorrow, folks, and give you your Year 4 post then! Bye now!

Pros: Acknowledged prodigy of ki manipulation, nascent pacifist, possibility of reforming Saiyan culture, strong and loyal family support structure, solid mental health, [HIDDEN BONUS].
Cons: Contempt of Saiyan society at large, nascent pacifist, severe difficulty developing combat abilities, social isolation, will face constant social opposition, [HIDDEN DETRIMENT].

I find it amusing that most of these cons vanished after the Sealing.

If Jaffur is in contact with the face I wonder if he will teach him how to use ki. Actually if that is already happening would we be able to tell?

I'm willing to bet Jaffur wants to keep Jaron as far from the Saiyans as practical. He's not going to do anything that will risk himself OR his brother. As it stands, both of them are (relatively) safe. Teaching Jaron to use ki would draw attention, and possibly get Mommy-Dearest to take a closer look at the Seal.

Oh man, I'd forgotten about the [HIDDEN BONUS] and the [HIDDEN DETRIMENT]. @PoptartProdigy , have we come across either of those yet? I could see the bonus being our being a Seer, but I don't know if you rolled for that before or after this choice. And I have no idea about that detriment...

Both of those actually cover more than one thing, technically. The bonus was being a Seer, among other things. The detriments have arisen, but not in a way that I've made explicit.

"What are you doing with your aura?" you ask, gaping.

"Me? Nothing." He phases out of view again. You press your fingers to your forehead and-
This has to be a hint about Jaffur's style. Is it possible that he had a split personality even back then? With his other self keeping his aura under control.

Went back and read the early stuff, and there's still a bunch of unanswered questions I'd forgotten about. Like - why did it look like Berra was dead for a bit? What was Dandeer's "deception" of Berra? Why did Jaffur apparently hate being called Jaffur? (That's a weird one - he apparently objected to being reminded he was Vegeta's son, or something? The only thing I could think of that fit was that he wanted to be a girl, which seems unlikely.)

By the way, it's been over a year now - have any of the other Super Saiyans cracked the Golden Oozaru yet?
