No Super spoilers!

But yeah, Planet Plant not being the Saiyans homeworld has been a detail that's been around for ages.

Saiyan history is basically ''reach the stars, lose homeworld, gain new world, lose nearly everything, rinse and repeat.''

I don't think think that counts as a Spoiler

That idea was only present in GT and didn't make sense back then either. The earlier explanation of Tuffles and Saiyans evolving on the same planet made more sense and didn't create any loose ends.

Wrong again

Saiyans being immigrants to Planet Plant had been a thing since at least August 6, 1993

@PoptartProdigy

Hybrids might have the same talent for fighting that Saiyans have, but they seem to have the mentality of Earthlings, not Saiyans. Gohan, Future Trunks, and Future Gohan didn't seem to have any interest in fighting beyond it being a necessity. Trunks and Goten seem to like martial arts/fighting but only to the level that normal 7/8-year old Earthling boys would. Hell, Goten seems to care more about toys than he does fighting and Trunks would rather go to the park than train. For most Saiyans a pure Saiyan Masque wouldn't do anything for them, but for Kakara whose pacifistic mentality is holding her back in regards to learning combat stuff, would the biological desire and need to fight that pure Saiyans have mitigate/override/cancel out the mental block?

Quite possibly. You'd have to go through the whole process of Masque acclimation all over again from scratch, though.

It would just be for learning skills, not increasing power level, so acclimation isn't really important. Besides, even if we wanted to acclimate, how hard would it be? Not like we'd be missing a limb this time around.

Why would Kakara try to utilize an untested and unproven "technology" (pure-Saiyan Masque) that knowingly strips away one of her core/fundamental ethical/moral beliefs, just so training and learning fighting skills is easier?
^
Serious question.

Pure Saiyan mask has been done before, it just didn't provide any benefit since they already like fighting. It's safe.

As for that other stuff, it doesn't strip away her beliefs at all. Just because fighting when it's not necessary is wrong doesn't mean being good at learning how to fight is wrong as well. It's her duty and the reason why she trains so hard throughout the year to maintain her power level and her combat skills. Making it easier on herself to complete this necessary duty isn't wrong so long as she continues to purse the most peaceful path when it matters.

@Andres110 That would require the new mask to change the way she thinks. Not only would that be a side effect most people wouldn't want and thus something the ones who made it would want to avoid but a Masque thay changes the way one thinks is something close enough to the sealing that she would have a hard time justifying it.

Furthermore, you are basing your reasoning on the canon half saiyan who were raised on earth. Two hundred years have passed, the saiyan blood is even more diluted but the Garenhuld saiyans like training more than Gohan, Goten and Trunks. That seems to indicate that the problem is not a genetic one but a cultural one.

Add to that that, of all the pure saiyans we have record, the only ones obsessed with training are Goku, who was raised that way, and Vegeta who did after seeing the results in Goku. So the saiyan mask would make us more sadistic rather than make us want to train and us being super saiyan might be enough for it.

Just read through the entire quest, and it's great. Love the setting!

I read the entire Dragon Ball manga, up to the end of the Majiin Buu arc. Is this enough to understand all the quest-related in-universe stuff? Is there anything else I should go and read? (I vaguely remember seeing some Egyptian-god style dude, but that was an anime thing and the only DB anime I've watched is TFS's abridged series, which is currently halfway through the Cell arc.)

I'm no expert, but I think the manga has begun again in DBZ super. As for the egyptian god thing, its called Beerus and until we get big he's of no real concern to us.... unless he comes looking for food, in which case we're going to need 4 more super sayins.

It's mostly the same for me (well, I did watch (some of?) the DBZ anime when I was little), but I can understand the quest perfectly fine, though I have gained some knowledge of Super by hearing others talk about it. I don't think any of Super except for the first arc is relevant at all, though.

I think @PoptartProdigy has mentioned stuff about the Super Sayin gods becoming actual gods and helping Beerus out, but yeah, unless we figure out the transformation (5 "pure hearted" super sayins) we're really unlikely to get the attention of any beings like Beerus any time soon

Read all of Super that's available online. Think I missed some movie stuff, with Golden Freeza at least? Since he was mentioned as existing and being beaten, and I never saw that.

Right. Super seems to be canon since super saiyan gods are a thing and need to know what that is to understand what is going on. You can read the super manga or watch the anime. Alternatively, you could watch the last two movies which are roughly equivalent to the first thirty or so episodes of the super anime.

Just started watching super actually. One question: When they ask Shen Long about the super saiyan god, does he really say "according to namekian legends" or is that a translation error of the version we are watching? My brother and I were laughing at that for a while.

Fairly sure that's accurate. It's strongly suggested that the Saiyans and Namekians encountered each other way, way in the past, as Guru was also aware of the Super Saiyan transformation.

So, yeah...Namekians and Saiyans have a history.

Pretty sure Freeza (whether golden or not) is never going to show up and the only thing that might be relevant is Super Saiyan God
