So a thing just occured to me: I know that the Solar Flare is really good at the flash, but we also know that Ki can do flash and bang. So I'm a bit surprised someone hasn't invented a flashbang Sokidan variant.

You didn't look directly at it. It's just assumed that you know better than to look directly at Oozaru triggers unless you want to ape out. You looked just off to the side.
I'm not sure what you mean by this. If you mean we didn't look at the planet at all and just looked to the left of it that's fine, but if we looked at it with our peripheral vision then the blutz waves would still be entering our retinas.

It works by Dragon Ball biology. The exposure is insufficient without direct eye contact allowing full and unobstructed transmission to the retina.

That or Kakara at least learned how to resist an unwanted transformation by that point despite the utter disaster that her Oozaru training had, up to that point, been.

Even with control over the Great Ape form, how do you resist the transformation? Wouldn't it be like trying to consciously stop your adrenaline gland from producing adrenaline?

Depends on your will power and control I assume.

Simply refusing to give in to your baser instincts and run riot, refusing to unleash the beast within and withstanding the itchiness and weakness that your pathetic human form inflicts upon. Possessing the self control that would be required to prevent yourself from what feels natural, from being all that you can be is a mighty deed in itself.

I wonder.

Is it possible to achieve the Golden Ape form without actually becoming a Super Saiyan?

Ie under going the conditions required to unlock after attaining control over your inner ape, and advancing up a more primal path rather then following your flesh?

Ah, is that where our +5 to base willpower comes from? Our Great Ape training? Or was it from our tail training?

Nah, that's just your base at this age (you're due for an age-based improvement to that score fairly soon, in fact). You rolled high for your age.

No, it's definitely Super Saiyan. You could unlock it via Oozaru first, sure, but the block keeping people from unlocking it thus far was the mental one of, "these things don't go together," not the physical one of, "it's meaningfully difficult to unlock it both ways."

Now. I love all of you Aussie readers of mine, but I sadly do not live in Australia, and have copious amounts of cooking to do tomorrow. I need sleep. Farewell, all! :D

Ah ok.

So someone could potentially have a block that works the other way around, but they'd still have the ablitiy in human form once they consider it.

I think that's how the 'first' Super Saiyajin, or at least the one Vegeta references on Namek had it. He basically got Golden Ozuru without the humanoid form (due to going Super Saiyajin as an Ozuru) and promptly shattered the planet he was on...then suffocated.

This is...all wrong. He wasn't talking about the first Super Saiyan, he was talking about the most recent Super Saiyan to exist. He didn't get Golden Ape in the humanoid form, it's just that he required Great Ape's durability enhancement so that the Super Saiyan transformation didn't burn him out. He didn't shatter the planet he was on and suffocate, it was that the Super Saiyan transformation was so powerful that it consumed him despite the durability enhancement of Great Ape. The Super Saiyan he was talking about came a thousand years before he did and the Saiyans only gained access to planets beyond Planet Plant a few decades prior, during the reign of King Vegeta. If the previous Super Saiyan shattered the planet he was on, the Saiyans would've gone extinct a millennium before Prince Vegeta was born.

Planet Plant was not the Saiyans homeworld. The came from the Planet Sadia.

Nooooo, it was definitely Planet Plant, later renamed Planet Vegeta. Planet Plant was the home of the Tuffles (which came from the word for 'fruit') and Saiyans (which came from the name for 'vegetable'). The Saiyans wiped out the Tuffles, renamed the planet in honour of their leader (Vegeta), and used the Tuffles' technology to leave the planet to look for more people to fight. Before they took the Tuffles' technology they were limited to sack-like clothes and daggers; they couldn't have come from any other planet as they wouldn't have had the technology to make it to Plant. I don't know what fic that came up with this "Sadia" but it's not a canon DB thing.

Plant Sadia is canon.

Universe Six Saiyans never left it!
